Educationalserv:Don't mind these people. Let them continue hiding behind the "structure" of useless governors coerced into the APC. That's their only strategy to win the election. Because otherwise, I really don't understand how they expect this woeful bat that nobody likes to win actual votes anywhere outside the South West. BAT is even more unpopular today than he was in 2023, and crucially, the north where he conjured the majority of the votes that snuck him into Aso Rock has turned his back against him. Besides, the arrogance with which these APC e-rats believe that they would win the South South because they have managed to force all the governors into the APC shows just how detached from reality they are. We are waiting for them. Eagerly waiting. |
ernieboy:Is it weaker than Nigeria's military that cannot combat ragtag terrorists, bandits and industrial scale kidnapping syndicates? |
aribisala0:Your PIT goes to your state of residence, NOT your state of origin. There is no doubt that part of the motivation for this nonsense is Tinubu's rabid quest to further enrich Lagos State as the most populated state in Nigeria, where much of the country's economic activities are concentrated, which in turn, indirectly enriches him and his dynasty who are firmly in control of Lagos State. Not to mention smuggled in/embedded 'hidden' provisions that will directly enrich him and his cronies via the Alpha Beta Model. There is no other reason why a barely legitimate crook lik this, whose antecedents are well known, would assume that he is the right person to implement such a reform. As who or as what? The fact that you educated simpletons readily put yourselves to good use (ala 'useful idiots') is part of why Nigeria remains the way it is. Political crooks push out dubious policies mainly for selfish considerations, laced with hidden embedded loopholes to benefit themselves, and then goad you paid and unpaid 'h-intellecshuas' to justify and defend it with big big English and circular logic. What a pathetic joke. Besides, the furore about the tax reform is mainly because it purports to want to force all 'qualified' Nigerians to pay tax, especially those in the informal sector (self employed individuals, hustlers, wheeler deelers, and so forth), a category to which most Nigerians in the Middle Class belong, to pay tax by fire by force to the thieves in government (by snooping into their accounts to evaluate inflows). THIS PURPORTED ENFORCEMENT IS THE MAIN ISSUE. You don't expect government employed or formal sector employed salary earners whose PAYE is deducted at source to have anything to say about it. |
Dogalmighty17:Even the Venezuelan Armed Forces would rout the Nigerian military in a conventional warfare. Maduro would have been able to dislodge the evil bat from Aso Rock if it was his mission to do so. Not to mention the US. |
Kaczynski:This is disgraceful man. You don't blurt out anything you feel like. There should be hard limits to anything, even venom. |
These ones na camo models. Nothing dey inside. |
Neoteny:What we know as 'physics' is not really the whole story and cannot possibly be. There was classical mechanics, and then came Newtonian physics, which was then replaced by relativistic/Einstein physics, and now we are in the era of quantum physics. But what comes next? We don't know. That's why I like it whenever Elon Musk talks about "new physics" and the role AGI would play in discovering it... But then after new would come subsequent 'news', on and on. What I'm driving at is that your thesis, while very interesting, doesn't capture the truth about what life as we know it is. We don't know whether it is probabilistic or deterministic or even probabilistic determinism or deterministic probabilism. The chicken or the egg, which came first? My brother, the conventional/universal scientific consensus at some point in the not too distant past was that the Earth is flat. So really, who knows what new 'facts' would be ascertained in the future? Who knows if we are in a simulation? If so, that would lean towards determinism in a sense, but then, who are the 'simulators' and to what end? Questions na water. That's why there is nothing more scientifically objective than good old hedonism, as aptly counseled by the supremely wise King Solomon: "EAT, DRINK AND BE MERRY, FOR TOMORROW YOU SHALL KPEME". |
It's a depressing thought that brainstormed for years...and came to the resolute conclusion that life is inherently meaningless, regardless of the laughable attempts people make to 'concoct' meanings for it. That's why you might as well strive to have a pleasurable experience while at it. ENJOY it. Anyhow you can, by whatever metrics you consider to be enjoyment. If you're not enjoying it, and there is no objective way you can possibly see to enjoy it, then you might as well press the delete button on yourself because it will be a spectacular waste of time to loiter about this thing called life meaninglessly and miserably for that matter. |
I can't believe Moniepoint could be this sloppy. There is certainly a possibility of collusion. The CEO needs to answer some hard questions. |
grandstar:This your argument and the ridiculous permutations are annoying and counterintuitive. I've always maintained that Nigeria's quasi-intellectual class, to which you obviously belong, is our biggest problem. Too much hypocrisy and sophistry, too little morality, pragmatism and objectivity. You cannot talk about the insufficiency of crude oil revenues and the imperative of enforced tax payments without FIRST addressing accountability and fiscal prudence in the management of public funds. There is no meh meh meh long talk. This is simple and short, and no other fake intellectual argument to the contrary will be entertained. Your immensely extravagant political class, especially the irritatingly corrupt bat and his gang, and government functionaries at all levels, cannot be spending the "insufficient" crude oil revenues on nonsense, while telling us that what Nigeria needs is more money, from loans, from tax, and from extracting the blood of long-suffering citizens. This will NEVER be tolerated. First things first. |
Sold a dud, as usual. As crafty as ever. If it was a cash flow machine, he wouldn't sell it. Now that he is fully in control of a real cash cow (First Bank), he no send anything again. |
Antoeni:It has to be the religious bandits (pastors et al). The politicians don't pretend to be holy and don't hide their colours, so we all know what to expect from them. But the 'pastors' form holiness, and impudently use God's name to wreak havoc. That's unforgivable. |
aswani:So in other words, the ADC knows that if they have Obi on the ballot as a VP candidate, they can at least (according to your postulation) be sure of the South East bloc votes in addition to whatever votes they were counting on, no? Why wouldn't they want that advantage? And besides, why are you assuming that Amaechi has ANY consequence whatsoever on how the South South votes? I'm completely lost. |
This whole talk is disingenuous. The so-called poor were are not complaining about the current tax regime... What the complaint about the proposed criminal bat reform is, is principally that government would start enforcing personal income tax payment for self employed hustlers on basically all levels above the so-called N800k a year threshold, and the vast majority of Nigerians fall under that category of "self employed". For People doing all sorts of deals, arbitrage, informal trading and so forth, to have Tinubu dip his filthy eyes and hands into their accounts to ask stupid questions about so so inflows during the course of the year is unacceptable and WILL BE RESISTED. Let them continue deducting PIT at source for their government workers and those who they gave formal employment. |
Tjra:The "certain level in life" this ugly BAT has reached, is it up to Donald Trump's own? How many foreign vacations and useless travels has Trump done since he first became president? You primitive, backward Nigerians make me nauseous with the way you deodorize and normalize ridiculousness. |
aswani:Make the bold make sense, so we wouldn't consider it to be typical disjointed beer parlour musings. |
What sort of lazy, incompetent reporting is this? Am I supposed to Google Ogbe Egbe road to know which state it is located in? |
DOD88:He would even live forever and you and your entire family and descendants would worship him till eternity. Swegbe. |
The way they are desperately going about this tax thing shows that bat and his gang certainly have vested pecuniary interest in it. Anyone with even minuscule sense knows it. That's why Nigerians must rise up and not only destroy this useless tax reform in its entirety, but also get rid of this evil regime, even before 2027 if possible. It is an existential imperative. |
erad:In other words, democracy allows you to be arrogantly toxic and incorrigibly stupid, even if it is to the detriment of the majority of citizens. Such self damaging 'freedom of expression' cannot be a good thing. |
Odious characters like this are the reason why I've long lost faith in performative religion. Bunch of money and power hungry vipers masquerading as clerics. I spit on all of them. Any of these fools who call themselves pastors or priests or evangelist or whatever that comes near me to claim spiritual authority often regret it. |
Wotowotoman:Nooo, I no know. Teach me abeg, since you're such an aggressively ignorant know-it-all. |
Elumelu is on a roll. Stupendous liquidity |
These ones are tone deaf. Let them continue making senseless noise about the useless tax regime that will not be implemented. |
Omalicious1:And a career criminal with possibly the worst corruption credentials like bat is hardly the right person to implement such a tax regime. It is ridiculous to even contemplate such because it assaults the sensibilities of Nigerians, knowing that the crook called bat CERTAINLY has dubious motives. Nigeria has a bigger government accountability problem than it has a revenue problem. So this rush to implement an oyinbo tax system on Nigerians without first giving us oyinbo accountability (never mind oyinbo benefits) shows that the criminal is driven by purely corrupt motives. We will never allow that. |
The impunity and anyhowness in Nigeria is so overwhelming and irritating. Such a discredited character who as recently as a few months ago disrupted a flight with his unruly behaviour, almost causing deadly harm to himself and to passengers - all caught on camera! In a reasonable society, that alone has cancelled and disqualified him by default, even if he was the rightful next in line for the throne. But alas, in Nigeria, the 'I can do anything and nothing will happen' impunity culture must rear its ugly head. |
This Oyedole animal should be public enemy number 1. |
MyExpression:After forcing some of us out of their influence networks to go and rack our brains to explore alternatives routes to financial freedom, these vagabonds want to come and collect tax. Let them continue taxing the salaries of their cronies that they reserved CBN, FIRS, NNPC, etc jobs for. Not for those who used their own ingenuity to make a way for themselves in this useless country. |
