Someone that has already distinguished himself in the private sector - chairman of a bank, owner of a multi billion naira private company, even BEFORE becoming a governor, yet he wasn't known for extravagant lifestyle (which would even not be a problem since he has the legitimate wealth for that).

Someone that went on to serve as governor for eight whole years, and throughout his tenure and afterwards, he has maintained a reputation for frugality and simple lifestyle.

APC will win North Central, they will most likely lose North East to Atiku and share North West votes as those ones don't particularly like Atiku.

APC will also clear South West and South South, so with three regions in the bag and one in play (North West), I don't think SE votes are as important to APC as you think.

Even if Atiku agreed to govern for just four years, I would bet that he would renege a few months after assuming office, because his supporters and sycophants having grown accustomed to power and will not want to relinquish it after only 48 months. While I agree with you, Nigeria is at crossroads, and a lot of wisdom is required.

Atiku is old already, and his lifelong dream has been to become president. And it is not even the turn of the North yet, so he is actually jumping the queue. He can and should be able to do one term. However during his term, he can engineer a constitutional amendment to institute a single term of 5 years for Nigerian presidents after him. So if Obi enters, by default he will serve 5 years and then back to the north.

It is actually easy to arrive at straightforward, mutually acceptable, 'ojoro cancel' agreements if we can all rein in greed and unreasonableness.

By the way, it is in Makinde's best interest to join the ADC.
