Giddyperson: If you see her doing that again, ask her where she learnt it from and try to get some names. So that when you talk, it won't just sound like speculations.
If she's just coming back from your hubby's parents house, please totally stop her from visiting them alone, they can always see her when all of you visit, plus your hubby can handle his people.
But I assume this happened at her dad's parents house. If her dad is a responsible person, then he would take the issue seriously and maybe you guys can discuss limiting the unaccompanied visits to the village until she's a bit older. If he's the type that doesn't give a shyt, then that's where you have a problem. hmm my sis, the biological father is the irresponsible type, all he wants to do is show her up that she's my daughter and nothing more. Before my husband stopped him from coming to pick her anytime, he would harass us with calls that he wants to come and see as well as pick his daughter, that was before we had our baby. Limiting the visit to them means we're keeping their child away from them or trying to keep her to ourselves, we've dealt with these before and hubby was tempted to send her back to her paternal family. Just discussed with hubby now and he's super angry. He wants to confront the grandma but I told him to hold on. I don't want to blow it out of proportion so as not to attract unwanted stories that touch. We will talk to our daughter tomorrow and see what we can do. I hope this issue get resolve. Thanks sis. Really appreciate |

@ Chinnybaby99, Giddyperson. Thanks sis for your input on this issue. We don't believe in beating to correct, we only ground her like not taking snacks and so on though she eventually get to have them but not at the time she suppose to, that works like magic for her cos she loves them. Am just too worried for her because the scene kept playing repeatedly in my head and I cring everytime it does. Am seriously praying for wisdom to relay it to my husband so that we can get to the root of it. |

My sisters @ barag, FloraEC, and Awesomemama. Thank you, thank you , thank you so much for your responses. I will definitely involve hubby, he's very understanding just that he works away from home and comes in during weekend. I was trying to ask my daughter some questions jokingly while bathing her this morning but I couldn't finish because I was late for work. I pray God will give me wisdom to pull this off. |

#Long post# Good day sabi mamas. Pleaaaaaase I need sincere opinion. Am in a fix right now and am worried. My story We have an adopted daughter who is five years old . We adopted her since 2yrs 11months( Hubby's younger sister's first child. Hubby's sister is late). She has been staying with us since then but travels during holidays to her paternal or maternal grandparents. The biological father also picks her up at times till we stop him because he picked her before holiday. So we had an agreement that she'll always go to them for holidays so that it won't be like we're keeping their child away from them(note: We waited for 7years before we had our baby who is four months old now, gave birth to her on xmas day). To my main issue now. She just got back from her break to her grandparents houses on Sunday and as usual she's always playing with her sister. So two days ago, I was in the bedroom and I heard my four months old making funny noise like she was feeling discomfort, getting there, my adopted daughter was seriously pulling her breast and squeezing it which I told her immediately that, that's not how to play with a baby. That she should sing rhymes for her. The next day, I was in the kitchen when I heard that same funny sound , getting there I saw my adopted daughter laying on my her sister halfway (resting her weight on her) and vigorously sucking my baby's breast with so much concentration that she didn't hear me coming. I was speechless. I scolded ( not beating) her but later I explained to her why she can't do that to her sister. My concerns now are: *Am I over reacting? *Hope she's not been abused? *How do I correct her so as not to make impression that am separating her from her sister because I wouldn't want her to feel jealous or hatred for her sister and above all I don't want to discriminate but am scared to leave my baby with her alone for a second. Please what do I do? * Am seriously tempted to never send her to her grandparents houses again cos they live in an environment where children are allowed to wander on their own. Buy I don't want to create family drama. HELP A WORRIED MUM. MY MIND IS RESTLESS. |

barag: There's no Federal High Court at Ikeja, only a State High Court. Anybody who doesn't want to to scammed should just walk INTO the Court premises and ask for the Court registry. When you get to the registry u can then ask for where to sign oath. sis I said e.g in my response now. I wasn't specific. If you know better you should have just responded to her question. |

#rant# How do I handle my four months old that won't allow anyone to carry her except me and dad( maybe the caregivers at Babyland too). She will smile at everyone when either me or her dad is holding her. We were at her grandparents over the weekend and it was war. She started screaming the moment we stepped into their apartment, and that poor woman( paternal grandma) was almost crying because she won't let her carry her. She did that to everyone even my mom and dad. What do I do with her when she's like that? |

jazzyjazz: Which one be teething soap again? Please let's not do what we will regret o!
TEETHING IS NOT A DISEASE!!!
If your baby is teething, there are countless affordable teething rings and mittens in the market, get a few, your kid will love it. Please their liver and kidney are too young for all these deadly medications. Please oooooo
LEAVE YOUR KIDS TO TEETH IN PEACE PLEASE!!!
TEETHING IS NOT A DISEASE!!! Lol, the soap she mentioned is not ingestible. It's a local soap just like any other scented or unscented soap. Just like we use Shea butter. I asked for the name to be sure it's the one I know. I grew up around the indigenous Yoruba and they have everything their own including cream, soap etc. |

JGracious: If the hospital has conducted a test to make the conclusion then follow the medication prescribed to you.
The major thing I observed during teething is slight rise in temperature which could sometimes be accompanied with swollen gums and can cause baby discomfort. Paracetamol takes care of this and baby is fine.
No need of any kind of teething drugs, soap, bracelet and all sorts.
A lot times, mothers associate teething with stooling and this is likely to happen as a result of baby putting fingers in the mouth or picking dirts from the floor. You can curb this with teething rings and ensuring hygiene around your home and where you keep baby is top notch. Thanks sis. Test was conducted before that conclusion was reached and am following doctor's order as well. |

tabithaola: FTM too dearie, but then essence was just running mild temperature in the evenings of 10-14 days after which we just saw 2 white teeths. No stooling till the teeths were out and she was active. However, that was at 4 months,2 weeks as against the 6 months we were told at the hospital. Lemme add that,we started using teething soap at 3 months if you are Yoruba. What it does is to lessen the discomfort that comes with teething. All the best dear. Make sure she sucks more too. please ma, do you know the name of the soap. My MIL can get it for us. Thanks maami. |

But I heard children can start learning how to sit when they start approaching 3 months. By them their bones would've been strong enough for such task OK. Thanks ma'am. |

I started giving 1ml of banababe to essence at 3 months and the first set of teeth came out at 4 months,1 week. So,be ready for this beautiful phase of growth. Its well dear. Wow! thanks momma. kayzat: Madam is teething but I won't advice you start using drugs for her unless the situation warrant it. She may actually not bring out the teeth anytime soon. My daughter started doing the same around that 3 months and now we're going to 6 but no sign of any teeth in sight yet. She will have the symptoms and stop for weeks then start again now imagine if we've been bombarding her with drugs since that time.
Only give her drug her temperature is beyond normal or coughing becomes much more serious Thanks mama. I really appreciate. |
