Have said this before and I won't hesitate to say it again this country doesn't worth dying for it is high time they find lasting solution to the strike of a think. Why spending billions on mediocrity when our education system is crumbling? kissThey are toying with the future of students, Its a thing of shame to this nation, both ajireebi and ogberan are using the future of Lautech students to play kite...

Literature / Re: Chronicles Of Temy (my Life On Campus) by henryderek: 6:55am On May 13, 2017
YungTemy:
I found it hard to sleep that very night. I kept rolling on my bed as scenes of that very day kept replaying itself at the back of my head.
''why would Juliet stoop so low into having sex with that Idiot, Emafidon. Gosh! This babe don fall my hand, I swear'' I said quietly.
I observed my phone vibrate, I checked the caller's ID and it was no other person but ''Juliet''. This should be like the 15th time that Juliet had dialed my number but still yet I refused to pick because I saw no reason to.
I managed to get some rest but before I did, I dialed Mayson and Thompsons numbers, but they were both unavailable. These guys were actually in the best position to put my mind at ease. They were both my buddies and my companion. My brother wasn't around, he was probably in his friend or girlfriends house, so I just laid right there on my bed all alone, watching the ceiling fan roll and counting the ceiling.
''I hope these guys are okay o'' I thought as I folded myself in my huge blanket. ''I hope they don release Thompson and Smart from the military custody. Chai! If them never release them, their own don finish o. Sojo go too drill them''.
I prayed silently. Mayson had escaped but I wondered why he switched off his phone.
I slept off unknowingly, only to wake up around 8am in the morning.
''Jesus I don late O'' I said aloud as I jumped off from the bed to the bathroom to take my bathe. I was suppose have a compulsory test by 9am which carries about 30 marks, missing the test was like missing an Exam.
I took my bucket and headed to the well to fetch water.
''Bros, good morning o'' Emafidon hailed me. I looked towards the direction where his voice was coming from, and there he was, sitting on a long bench outside, a sachet of water in his left hand, a toothbrush on his right hand and beside him was a huge ''orobo'' babe, three times my size with a huge Ukwu. Her Ukwu almost fit the entire bench, if care wasnt taken, Emafidon could have fallen off.
''Bros... I hailo'' I said. I was still angry at him but I was shocked by this new development.
''wetin be this!!!'' I said inwardly. ''wetin this guy carry come house this early mo mo (Morning)''.
I waved at the lady with a smile on my face. She smiled back at me, revealing her wide window teeth.
I fetched my water in no time and hurriedly hopped into the batheroom to take my shower. After I had gotten ready for school, I went into the kitchen to prepare the remaining noodles which I hid from my brother. Well,
My brother TY, was a voracious eater. The dude could finish a a huge bowl of eba and still wouldn't be satisfied. The carton of noodles which I bought, my brother had almost consumed everything, so I decided to keep the remaining two noodles in a safe corner were he wouldn't be able to reach but Lo and behold, my noodles were gone.
''am I seeing double abi, wetin dey happen where my noodles?'' I asked rhetorically. I searched the entire corner of the kitchen but I still wasn't able to find it.
''JESUS!!! Wetin dey xup, who con move my level na'' I wondered. I was dead hungry, I just couldn't go to school with an empty belly and sadly enough, I was getting late for school.
''God please, I hope it's not my brother that consumed my noodles o'' I prayed silently. I dialed my brothers number, within seconds he picked his phone.
TY: Bro good morning.
Me: No good morning me. You carry my indomie?
TY: hello brother you say?
Me: you carry my indomie. Na simple question I dey ask you?
TY: hello hello
Me: see guy, I dey hear you wella for here o. So no reason say na network or anything.
TY: bros, your voice no clear for phone.
Me: okay. You carry my indomie.
TY: chai! This network bad o. Bros I go call you back.
Me: if you hang up this call... If you dare hang up.
TY: ....
Me: Hello Hello... This boy hang up for my ear. I go show you pepper.
I needed no more explanation, it was obvious, that my little brother had eaten my noodles. But what could I do... Nothing.
I switched off my lights, carried my book and locked the door. While, I was on my way to school, my phone rang yet again and it was no other person but Juliet.. I decided to pick her phone to at least hear whatever she had to say.
Juliet: Hello.. Temy
Me: yeh! I can hear you. How may I help you.
Juliet: please, let's see.
Me: why, wetin we wan discuss.
Juliet: please relax. We just need to talk about us.
Me: ''Us''... There's no us o.
Juliet: Temy please.
Me: we have nothing to discuss
Juliet: yes we have alot. Babe, please. Just once.
Me: no problem. Lets see in school. I have a test and I'm running late.
Juliet: okay. Bye.

Family / Relationship Issues That Are Just As Bad As Cheating by henryderek: 11:24am On Feb 10, 2017
Here are the things to watch out for in a relationship, because they are just as terrible as infidelity. Many couples fear infidelity and unfaithfulness in their partners because this has been established, over the years, as a prime destroyer of bonds, relationships and marriages.

What results from this is an undue watchfulness and suspicion a partner might be cheating with another man/woman, whereas the relationship is getting hit in other places that would not be noticed until the dent becomes irreparable. If you are in a relationship or looking forward to getting into one someday, here are some things to stay alert and watch out for, because they are just as terrible as infidelity.

Holding in your feelings
While heavy conflict is exhausting in a relationship, none is usually a sign of distance and disengagement.

Where partners choose to not express and discuss their issues, the end of that relationship might just be getting closer than they thought.

Being married to a job

When your partner never calls, doesn’t reply calls or messages, is always away at work and seems always absorbed in work even if he’s at home with you, this poses a difficulty especially if you are married.

The implication of this is either that your partner is intentionally avoiding intimacy, or that there are issues in the relationship that they would rather stay away from, instead of facing them head on. It could also be that a relationship with someone else has blossomed at work.

Contacting Exes

While this is not necessarily a bad thing, being extremely secretive about it, and doing it a lot too often does not bode well for an ongoing relationship or marriage.

Sometimes, this could even count as actively cheating on your present partner.

Alcoholism

This is an issue that is often overlooked when discussing relationship problems.

The word alcoholism depicts a severe drinking disorder and in any relationship where a partner suffers this, there could be trouble because a drunk person isn’t ever in his right senses, and could do or say stuff with really damaging effects.

Now imagine that happening every day. Imagine the destructive effect it could have on your relationship.

Too much TV and phones

When partners choose always to watch TV or stay fixated with their phones at times when they should be talking or enjoying each other’s company, this could have a long-term damaging effect on the relationship.

The bottom line is this: cheating has a very strong possibility of bringing an end to your relationship no matter how strong that relationship is.

These five things, however underrated, are just as bad especially when allowed to fester. They could end your relationship just as cheating and infidelity would.

Travel / This 17-yr-old Student Overcame Government Oppression To Become The First Africa by henryderek: 11:04am On Feb 10, 2017
His win is not the real gem here, it's how he won despite being faced with a government-sanctioned internet shut down.
A lot has been said about Africans being able to find ways to thrive in the face of near-impossible circumstances and a 17-year-old Cameroonian, Collins Nji, personifies that school of thought perfectly.

Collins is the first Black person and also the first African to win Google's yearly Code-In hacking competition. But his win is not the real gem here, it's how he won. Google Code-In is a competition for pre-university students between the ages of 13 and 17 where the students are given a variety of bite-sized tasks to hack open source software.

The government of Cameroon has shut down internet access in Anglophone parts of the country (for the past 23 days now) after English-speaking Cameroonians protested marginalization and systemic oppression in the country.

Bamenda, where Collins lives, is one of the locations where Internet has been shut down.

But he didn't let that stop him. In true African spirit, Collins defied the odds stacked against him and travelled to Bafoussam in Francophone Cameroon to work on, and submit, his solutions before returning to Bamenda despite unrest in the country. When GCI started I was anxious and nervous to some extend… I had to find ways to turn my nervousness into creativity and fun. Participating was super exciting and really exhausting, and at the end, I discovered that I gained a whole new level of experience in the Open source world," says Collins.

On January 30, 2017, Google announced Collins as the winner of this year's edition of the competition, crowning his efforts and sheer will-power.

As a result, Collins will be travelling to the Google Headquarters in Mountain View, California to meet with Google's Open Source team and other members of the Google Software Engineering team. His victory stands as a beacon of ambition and tenacity buried somewhere in Africa's collective spirit.

It is indeed unfortunate that African governments have made a habit to systematically hinder the progress of their own citizens but stories like Collins' are a reminder of Africa's potential despite its many problems.

Foreign Affairs / “I Will Not Allow Killing Of Christians To Continue” – Pres. Trump Says by henryderek: 5:48pm On Jan 31, 2017
US President Donald Trump has vowed that he won’t allow the killing of Christians to continue. Trump, who stated this in a tweet, via his Twitter handle, said Christians, especially in the Midde-East have been executed in large numbers. Last week, he signed an executive order imposing a ban on citizens from seven predominately Muslim countries ---Yemen, Lebanon, Sudan, Iraq, Iran, Syria and Somalia. His action has sparked off a protest in the US. Trump’s tweet reads, “Christians in the Middle-East have been executed in large numbers. We cannot allow this horror to continue.” Minority Christians have been victims of attacks in Syria and Iraq by the Islamic State since its insurgency started.
