Greetings All,
My younger brother just got married some months bank. He has a valid passport to expire 2018. Wife also has a valid passport to expire 3 years from now.

The wife's passports bears her Parent's surname, not her hubby's name.

They want to apply to US for 3weeks Honeymoon.
SHOULD THEY GO FOR A NEW PASSPORTS SO AS TO UNIFY THE SURNAMES ON THEIR PASSPORTS OR WILL THE MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE COVER THEM AT THE INTERVIEW? THEY ARE BOTH NIGERIANS.

Will appreciate ur responses. Thanks

The news in this country shows how weak the governments have been. In case you do not know, the Economic Downfall effecting Nigeria didnt originate with this Government.

Its Genesis could be traced as far back as between 30 to 40 years ago. It is often said that what you sow is what you reap.

To correct things abit, Nigeria needs Honest, Sincere and non tribalistic set of leaders in all Sectors of the government.

My advice to my contemporaries, including myself is to adopt the "Positive SAD" approach to life. Yes! Its rightly called positive SAD because though you are sad about the past and present conditions prevailing in the country, you maintain positive view of yourself and things around you.

Its given as follows:

STOP Wailing: To avoid heartache

AVOID Unrealistic Expectations: So you can adapt in any Situation.

DO Not put your trust in Human Government: So you will live long.

You have just seen it- Positive SAD. Clearly the Sadness is a positive one because it bears positive results.

Putting the above suggestions to heart, you will soon:

a) Discover who you are and what you love doing
b) Think and mediate on how you could use what you have to make a living for yourself
c) Become independent. Not expecting the government to do everything for you.
d) Assist the government by employing those without jobs.
e) Begin to enjoy this short and brief life our ours.

Yes you can make it. Between 2014 to 2016 i have employed about about 8 people who work for me. I am just a two year old unemployed graduate.

Do something for youself fellow Nigerians. Do not wait for the Government.

@Herbwise I honestly can't comment on your chances that your WHOLE personal circumstance will be considered including the fact that your husband is your sponsor.
Lemme paint a pix. If Dangote's wife is a stay at home mom and wants to go on a visit will she be refused based on her employment status. Most prolly not.
So everything about u will be considered. Good luck.

I think other may be better. To create an opportunity for explanation. Just hope the uncle waka go US via better way

Thanks Lagy G. I have to ask how the Uncle take Waka go oo.

hello friends and all gurus in the house. Lady G, I salute you.

I have completed the DS160 form for my self and my son, my only concern is that i am a nursing mother. i have 3 children already. i stopped working 3years ago, so i cannot provide more details of my previous employment other than the address and phone number of where i worked. my husband is the one sponsoring the trip.
my questions:

1) will my unemployed status affect my application?

2) the family i want to visit, the head of the family is my husbands uncle though they don't bear same surname. what relationship should i chose?

a) Friend
B) Other ?

thank you for your assistance

For what! If I be one of those neighbours, dem no go receive a dime from me, not after he openly confessed that he lied to us. I mean, how the hell was I supposed to know that he stole the money!

This was exactly what happened. We are in trouble in this country
Nairaland / General / It Only Happens In Nigeria. by Herbwise(m): 7:43pm On Mar 11, 2016
Two weeks ago, in Alagbado area of Lagos state Nigeria, a young man in his late 20's came back from his day's activity, and gave the sum of #500(five hundred Naira) to his neighbours. When asked why he is sharing money, he told them that he WON in a popular betting game.....Nairabet.

The Neighbours accepted the money and rejoiced with him. Two weeks later, Police Men arrested the young man who was said to have WON in Nairabet. The long and short story was that the young man didn't Win Nairabet, but STOLE and sold CABLE WIRE, belong to PHCN.

The Neighbours who shared from the money were also arrested, and asked to return not the #500 given to them each, RATHER they were forced to share the #20,000 that was stolen equally amongst them and return back.

Questions:
1) Were the neighbours guilty in anyway?....Note: the thief confessed to the police that he lied to his neighbours as per the real source of the money he dashed them.

2) Was it fair for the police to force the neighbours to Share the 20,000 stolen amongst them, even when the innocent neighbours only received #500 each?

comments please.
Mod kindly move to FB we need to get somethings right in this country.

Nairaland / General / Story Of The Pure Water Seller. by Herbwise(m): 3:05pm On Feb 28, 2016
Interviewed 3 Pure Water Sellers In Ochanja market
Onitsha , And According To Them: Sometimes, It Takes
About 6 Hours To Sell 20 Sachets Of Water Which Amounts
To A Total Of N200 (1Dollar).
From The N200, The Profit Is Only About N40 As The Pure
Water Sellers Have To Pay The Wholesalers Their Money
Back As Well As Cover The Price For Ice Block Which Was
Used To Cool The Water.
The Long And Short Of It Is That Some Of Them Make Only
N40 In 6 Hours Of Hustling Under The Hot Sun, Risking
Their Lives On Major Express Roads And Always At The
Mercy Of The Environmental Protection Board Who Whip
Them With Cane When Caught; Burst Their Water Sachets
To The Ground And Fine Them N5,000.
As If That Isn't Bad Enough, When Passengers And Drivers
Reach The Traffic Stops, They Prefer To Dash N100, N200
Or Even N500 To Beggars And Fake Sufferers Who
Sometimes Make About N1,500 A Day Doing Nothing But
Begging, Leaving Them Richer, Luckier And Safer Than The
Pure Water Sellers Who Are Young Entrepreneurs Serving
The Larger Community With Their Trade, And Trying To
Make Ends Meet.
So When Next You Are At A Traffic Stop, Please:
1. Dash The Pure Water Seller money Instead
2. Buy Pure Water To Patronize Them And If The Change Is
(N10, Or Even N20, You Can Leave It With Them)
3. Say Something Nice To Them. Greet Them, Encourage
Them.
4. Slow Down, Don't Knock Them Down.
5. Even If You Wont Buy The Pure Water, If They Ask You To
Buy, Rather Than Ignoring Them And Facing Front As If
They Are Not Humans, You Can Look At Them, Smile And
Say "Thank You".
Good Afternoon Friends!!

Family / Re: 3 Days After Our Wedding, My Wife Can't Stop Crying by Herbwise(m): 1:58pm On Feb 23, 2016
Give her some time bro. Be patient. I had almost similar experience. My wife couldn't sleep at nights. She keeps awake. And that affected me in many ways. We just celebrated our one year anniversary January 31, this year. Things have returned to normal. All thanks to the Almighty. At some point her mother had to come leave with us, to be precise her mother went back to her own house last week Thursday, but before then wife and I were beginning to get along well and she already got used to living with me and doing things with me. So my last words are: Be patient and Endure, it will certainly change for the better.

Go with other lecturers and beg him...atleast for peace.

Humans have a way of transfering aggression to another. That may have been the case. Though not justifying anything here.
