Operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Imo State Police Command have arrested a female undergraduate of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Chitere Okoronkwo, for allegedly killing her boyfriend, Johnmark Osigwe.

The state Commissioner of Police, Dasuki Galadanchi, said the 20-year-old Okoronkwo was nabbed on Monday at Ama-Wire Urratta in the Owerri North Local Government Area of the state.

According to him, the undergraduate allegedly masterminded the killing of her estranged lover at Nkwo-Orji on August 8, 2018.

According to reports, a young man identified as Oniha Ragnar Donald, was on Monday, stoned to death by a mob at the Modern Market area of Makurdi, Benue State capital.

It was gathered that the deceased who worked as an agent at AIRTEL, was pursued by his assailants from somewhere else in broad daylight until he was caught up with at the market junction.

The assailants smashed the deceased’s head with stones and left him in the pool of his own blood where he eventually died.

The political/inter-cult violence ravaging Effurun in Uvwie council area of Delta state took more tolls in the early hours of Monday, leaving five persons dead.

Although the circumstances that led to the early Monday killing were still sketchy as at the time of filing this report, people living in the area have linked it to rival political/cult clashes.

The Nation gathered victims of Monday’s violence were killed around the Jakpa Road/Effurun-Sapele Road axis with four killed along Jakpa Road and one killed around the Effurun MTN office, after Jakpa Junction.

The operatives of Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have arrested two suspected robbers for killing a UBER driver and stealing his Hyundai Elantra car.

Humble Peter Robert, 33, and Gideon Achibong, 36, were arrested on Monday 4, February 2019 at about noon in Aboki Estate, Lekki, Lagos, while removing the car parts for sale to a scrap metal dealer.

Investigations by the police revealed that Robert, an ex – convict and a bus conductor, in company of three others, now at large, had three days before his arrest, conspired to hijack a UBER car and sell it off.

The Peoples Democratic Party has refused the APC’s explanation in which the ruling party distanced itself from the construction of a ‘Giant Broom’ monument at the city gate in Abuja.

PDP’s national publicity secretary, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan said that the APC deliberately mounted the statue of the broom near the national monument to impose itself on the consciousness of the people.

Ologbondiyan said the statue is a sympathetic metaphor on the life the nation.

Earlier, the APC had said that the party is not responsible for the ‘Giant Broom’ monument mounted at the city gate in Abuja.

Soldiers on 5th February 2019 clamped down on suspected armed robbers/kidnappers in Ukpelede community, Ahoada West Local Government Area (LGA) of Rivers State.

The sting operation was conducted following an intelligence report on the criminal activities of armed robbers and kidnappers in Ahoada West and along the ever busy East-West Road and its environs which has recently disrupted free flow of activities in the general area.

The suspected kidnappers who on sighting the troops fired frantically and scampered for their lives were pursued by the gallant troops. Consequently, one of the kidnappers was gunned down while others fled into the nearby bush.

TRADITIONAL rulers in Yewa land in Ogun State have accused the Nigerian Customs Services of alleged extra- judicial killings of residents in the border towns of the state.

The tra ditional rulers, under the umbrella of Yewa Traditional Council made the allegation in a statement by 40 traditional rulers, condemning Customs’ activities in Yewa communities of the state.

The council, led by the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewa land, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, alleged that Customs officers in the state’s border towns were fond of killing innocent citizens under the disguise of pursuing smugglers.

THE University of Lagos, Unilag has launched its television station, Channel 184 on StarTimes Digital Broadcasting Channel. By virtue of this, Unilag has become the first university to run a campus TV not only in Nigeria, but in West Africa.

Speaking at the launch, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, said the official kick-off of the institution’s TV after two years of obtaining operating licence from government became reality through the efforts of the management board under Prof. Falaiye and the doggedness of Prof. Ralph Akinfeleye in the facilitation of World Bank support in the donation of equipment for the station.

His words: “ Today, I am very glad that the university has invited you to announce that Unilag has blazed the trail again by establishing the first Campus Television not only in Nigeria but in the whole of West Africa, “ he said.

A man received mob action after he was allegedly caught with used pampers, sanitary pads and pants among other items earlier today in Edo state.

The Hausa man otherwise known as Aboki was nabbed with the items which are alleged to be used for ritual purpose. He was caught at Enwan area in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State.

Two suspects have been apprehended by the police after allegedly drugging and raping a young lady in Lagos.

The Gender Section of the Lagos State Police Command is investigating a case of rape reported against one Razaq Oluwaseun Oke, 28, in Blue and Don-Chima George, 25,in Black of Dallankester Hotels, Lekki, Phase one Lagos.

A statement from the Lagos state police command, CSP Chike Oti, states that the duo allegedly took a girl, 23, to a club on Saturday, February 2, 2019, unknown to her that they had ulterior motive. While at the club, they mixed the young woman’s drink with a substance that made her weak and almost unconscious.

A self acclaimed big boy has been apprehended by villagers for stealing a goat in Borno state.

According to reports, he was nabbed with stolen goat in a Honda car which was given to him by a politician ahead of the forthcoming elections.

It was gathered that the suspect used the vehicle which had a sticker of a Federal House of Representatives aspirant, to steal goats before he was caught this time around.

A 25-year old man, John Omosuanfo, has been arrested by men of the Edo State Police Command for producing bullets from expended cartridges. John was arrested at Iyoha village in Estako West local government area after one of his brothers used one of the bullet to shoot a rival cult member.

He told newsmen when he was paraded that he used the bullets he manufactured to hunt animals and not for armed robbery or cultism.

John explained that attempt by his brother to lure one Lucky into the Jurist confraternity led to family fight and both parents were injured in the process.

According to him, “I pick expended cartridge and remove the under. I cover it back with slippers and load it with local gun powder. I used it for hunting animals. I don’t sell the bullets. I was arrested because my brother used one of the cartridge to shoot some boys.

It was gathered that the victim was found dead and her body mutilated few days after she was kidnapped by unknown gunmen that invaded their residence at Amaba, Isiukwuato in Abia State.

The gunmen invaded the father’s house, who is the resident pastor of the Assemblies of God Church in Amiyi Obilohia in Isuikwuato, stabbed the Pastor and his wife and kidnapped his two daughters.

The mutilated bodies of the pastor’s daughters were later found along the Amaba and Ezere community border with their heads and breasts missing.

The hoodlums set ablaze over 15,000 uncollected PVCs as well as the register containing all the names of registered voters in the area.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Joseph Iloh, confirmed the development to newsmen on Sunday. According to him, the arsonists broke into the INEC’s office through the window.

He however said that although the PVCs and the register were burnt, that the commission’s headquarters in Umuahia, the state capital, has the authentic list of registered voters.

A woman has landed in trouble and might be arrested after allegedly brutalizing her son for breaking her food flask at New Heaven in Enugu State.

Instagram user Ifeoma Faith Nebe, took to the platform to share pictures of the battered 7-year-old after the school authorities waded into the matter due to the injuries on his body.

Troops of 192 Battalion of the Nigerian Army, Sector 1, Operation LAFIYA DOLE, while on patrol in conjunction with the Civilian JTF, along Gwoza-Yamteke on Wednesday 30th January 2019, came across some Boko Haram terrorists attempting to infiltrate the general area. On sighting the troops, the terrorists opened fire on them. which lead to a heavy exchange of fire.

Panic has gripped residents of Araromi in Agege Local Government Area of Lagos State, following a robbery attack which occurred in the community recently. The robbers, armed to the teeth with guns, daggers and machetes, allegedly raided the whole buildings in the streets, moving from apartment to apartment. They were said to have arrived about midnight and operated until 4a.m.

According to some of the victims, the robbers were youths between ages of 20 and 22. The robbers were said to have split into groups, before moving into different houses to rob occupants.

It was learnt that the robbers started their operation at No 1, Adewunmi Adebiyi Street, and gradually moved down the street. Four flats were robbed at No 1, Adewunmi Adebiyi, while a person was stabbed on the thigh for refusing to part with his money.

A 19-year old boy, one Opeyemi Sunday, has landed in trouble over his desire to sleep with a 34- year old lady at Abule-Odu area of Egbeda, Lagos where they reside.

It was gathered that the suspect attacked and pushed the lady to the ground in order to have his way during a squabble between them.

However, the whole plan failed after the lady raised alarm and their neighbours rescued her.

The victim claimed that he rained blows on her and she lost her phone in the process but he was unable to penetrate her before she was rescued.

The Police in Akwa Ibom State has arrested a 45 year old man, one Joseph Sunday Essien for allegedly defiling his 13 year-old step daughter, one Patience Edet Edem. The suspect was said to have committed the crime on January 13, 2019 in his Ifa Ikot Obong village, Uyo LGA.

Parading the suspect today at the State Police Command Headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia, Uyo, CP Musa Kimo said that the wicked father carried out the heinous act in the girl’s apartment he gave to live.

Confirming the defilement, the victim said that her step father lured and slept with her on four occasion until the bubble busted when her mother who earlier didn’t believe when her daughter informed her, caught his randy husband red handed.

A man is currently cooling off in police custody after he was arrested for allegedly defiling a 7-year-old girl in Delta state.

According to reports, the 44-year-old married man and father of two children identified as Promise, was apprehended for raping the young girl few days ago in Sapele area of the state.

After his arrest, the suspect made some shocking confessions and admitted to the crime as he revealed that he also defiled an eight year old girl in his area and touched the private part of another.

When quizzed by the police on how many times he slept with his latest victim, the man lied that it was only twice, a claim which the girl immediately dispelled.

The man later confessed to sleeping with her more than twice.

Report has it that the suspect will be transferred to the Asaba police command for further investigation.
