A Nigerian fraudster identified as Innocent Uchenna Nkwoka, has been apprehended in Philippines for threatening to leak a lady’s nude photos.

The Nigerian fraudster who commits crimes with aliases Steve Edward and Agulu Prince, and his supposed female accomplice, Irene Lee Okoro, with alias Jackie Pascal, were arrested on January 17 by operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

Though an accomplice, one Ana Fe Sandoval remains at large, the arrest of the suspects came after fraud victim lodged a complaint of being blackmailed by one Agulu Prince, who she met on Tinder in February 2018 and with whom she was supposedly engaged to by August.

The lady who sent more than P50,000 to Sandoval who claimed she was from the US Embassy, for the processing of her fiancée visa and other fees, felt she was falling for an online scam after she went to Ninoy Aquino International Airport last December to fetch Agulu Prince with her family, but that she was told by a self-described Customs employee that he had been held at the Cebu airport for carrying $800,000 into the country.

The All Progressives Congress leaders, including a former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on Monday at the presidential rally of the party in Maiduguri, took turns to berate former President Olusegun Obasanjo over his latest attack on President Muhammadu Buhari.

Obasanjo, had in a 16-page statement on Sunday, likened Buhari to the late military dictator, Gen Sani Abacha.

But at the APC rally, Tinubu described Obasanjo as an expired leader, who should not be trusted, adding that Obasanjo’s government was notorious for election rigging.

The APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, also lambasted Obasanjo, saying the ex-President was watching when the Peoples Democratic Party government was stealing funds meant for fighting Boko Haram.

A female thief was nabbed by a quite “ Hot” Ghanaian crowd in the PZ Area in Adum, the Central Business District (CBD) of Kumasi. It became apparent that those who lynched her were Hot, when they pressed her butt, and Forcefully opened her legs to show her genitals. A 27-year-old tricycle operator is cooling his heels in the police custody after he was apprehended by youths for allegedly defiling a 10-year old girl in Use Offot, Uyo local government area of Akwa Ibom State.

Edet Sunday Edem who hails from Oku Iboku in Itu local government area of Akwa Ibom State allegedly committed the crime in his rented apartment in Use Offot, Uyo metropolis and took the girl to Use Offot market square leaving her abandoned while the girl was bleeding profusely. The girl whose name is withheld was noticed by passersby and was rushed to St Luke’s hospital, Anua for medical attention.

Mariam Daniels who is a member of a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO), Journalists Alliance against Gender Based Violence who took the girl to the hospital said she noticed that the girl was lying helplessly in the market square. According to Daniels, moved by the victim’s pitiable state of health, she insisted that she should be be taken to the suspect’s residence and when she arrived she was confronted with ‘a pool of blood’ in the suspect’s apartment.

A 32-year-old man, Abunde Goja, has been arrested for allegedly killing his ex-wife’s lover in Makurdi, Benue State.

Goja, a mason who was said to have fathered three children from his ex wife, allegedly stormed the home of the woman in the night, forcefully gained entrance into the room and poured acid on her boyfriend after which he clubbed him to death with an axe wood.

The Benue State Commissioner of Police, Omololu Bishi, said the ex wife, Kadoon Chia, reported the matter to the police that while she was in her room with her boyfriend, Terdoo Shito, her ex husband, Goja, conspired with one Luper Ishu and others now at large, attacked Shito and killed him on the spot.

The leadership of Middle Belt Forum, MBF, has said it agreed with the report of Amnesty International, AI, on the unrestrained mass killings in the Middle Belt, raising an alarm over fresh killings in the region.

National President of MBF, Dr Pogu Bitrus, particularly commended Amnesty International for condemning the Nigerian military for its inactivity that has promoted these massacre.

Bitrus, who alleged cover-up of renewed killings in the Middle Belt, said: “The attention of the Middle Belt Forum, MBF, has again been drawn to the new wave of killings in Nigeria, especially in the Middle Belt region.

“The Amnesty International had in November 2018 condemned the Nigerian military for not doing enough in combating the unprecedented killings arising from herdsmen/farmers’ crises that have claimed no less than 1,800 lives.

“These bloodbaths seem to be a tip of an iceberg as media report in December 2018, put the total number of deaths across the country at 5,113 lives within 11 months of last year.

“Considering the escalation of killings in the Middle Belt region, which has largely been unreported by a large segment of the media, the MBF is convinced beyond reasonable doubt that the federal and state governments are turning a blind eye to these ethnic killings in order to promote ambitions of some top politicians opposed to the interest of the Middle Belt people.”

“It is on this basis that the MBF condemns government’s insensitivity to the ongoing bloodshed that has turned the Middle Belt region into a silent mass grave and denied victims of these attacks funds and international support for rebuilding their lives.

“It is tragic that Nigeria is witnessing some of her worst times in terms of insecurity under the present administration. The current resurgence of Boko Haram’s activities in the North-east and the ongoing displacement of Middle Belt people reflect the determination of these terrorists to unleash bloodshed on the people of the Middle Belt region.

“The MBF is particularly drawn to the Amnesty International report entitles, ‘Harvest of Death: three years of bloody clashes between farmers and herders in Nigeria’.

“The MBF agrees with the content of the report that details the devastating footprints of the Fulani terrorists who are yet to be brought to book. From Plateau to Adamawa; Benue to Kaduna; these states, among others, are enmeshed in unimaginable bloodshed that has left trails of tragedies.

“In Plateau Benue states, not only were several villages and towns decimated, the invading herdsmen are now occupying these towns and villages, while survivors of these human carnage have been left to languish in Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, camps without support from governments or international organisations.

“The MBF categorically identified with the report of the Amnesty International on the unrestrained mass killings in the Middle Belt region perpetrated under the watch of the Nigerian military.

A family has raised an alarm following the ‘disappearance’ of a young girl in Sapele area of Delta state.

It was learnt the the girl identified as Blessing Ogwara vanished from her home since Saturday with an undisclosed amount of money and is believed to have gone with a young man named Ekpo Rank.

According to journalist Sapele Oghenek, the girl’s mother has reported the case to the police as a search has been urged both offline and online to locate her.

A woman was rescued after she was attacked by an angry mob over the death of a man who was stabbed while fighting.

The 47-year-old woman identified as Emily Mthimunye from Leeuwfontein in Vaalbank, South Africa, said the trouble started when the boys started fighting in her yard on Thursday.

She chased them away but the fight took a violent turn on the street when one of the boys was stabbed to death and another was wounded and rushed to hospital.

Residents then claimed she knew the culprits and a mob beat Emily and burned down her house. She said all this happened in full view of the police.

The police have moved senator representing Kogi West , Dino Melaye , to the federal special anti -robbery squad office in Guzape district , Abuja.

The police transferred the senator from their hospital to a Department of State Services health facility on Friday for treatment after he complained that he was not getting better.

But the police hospital had certified him fit for trial .

An online news portal, The Cable, reported an associate of the senator on Saturday as saying , “ They moved him to SARS office in Guzape . The police moved him without any word. We don’ t know what they want to do now .”

He said the next action of the police was unknown .
Last week, the senator surrendered to the police following an eight- day siege laid to his Abuja residence .

The police accused Melaye of culpable homicide and alleged that his supporters shot one Danjuma Saliu , a police officer, in Kogi state on July 19 .

Buhari said a lot had been achieved in the fight against corruption by his government.

He said when he was the military Head of State, he arrested the then President (Shehu Shagari) , his deputy ( Alex Ekwueme ) and their ministers over corruption issues .

He said they were forced to explain how they got their wealth.

Nigeria’ s representatives Lobi Stars on Friday began their CAF Champions League group stage campaign with a 2 - 1 win over South African champions Mamelodi Sundowns at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium , Enugu.

Goals from Yaya Kone and Samuel Mathias gave Lobi their first win in the group stages of the competition . The Nigerians came from a goal down after Sundowns had taken the lead through Anthony Lafor .

The Makurdi club have three points while the Brazilians have no point in the group – with their nine- match unbeaten run in all competitions coming to an end . Before the match , Sundowns had won five matches and drawn four .

After a good start to the match , which the Nigerians dominated, Sundowns almost took the lead in the ninth minute when Lobi keeper Olufemi Kayode was forced to save from a Ricardo Nascimento header, which came from a Sundowns corner .

Lobi responded with several chances which were frittered away as they failed to make their dominance count. Sundowns goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene comfortable gathered most tame shots aimed at him .

Against the run of play , 2016 Champions League winners Sundowns went in front in the 38 th minute when Liberia international Lafor was found unmarked from a counter- attack . The Sundowns striker coolly put the ball beyond Kayode to give the visitors the lead .

However, the home team drew level in first half stoppage time from the penalty spot after Sunday Adetunji was fouled by two Sundowns defenders . Kone stepped up and calmly sent Mweene the wrong way for the Lobi equaliser.

In the second half , Lobi continued their domination of the game as they looked to take the lead for the first time in the match . In the 48 th minute , Mweene was forced into a save after Adetunji goal - bound header from a cross almost caught him unawares .

The police are on the trail of a hit -and- run driver who allegedly ran over four friends at Mosalasi Bus Stop , Gowon Estate, Lagos , killing them .

It was learnt that the victims – Wasiu Ayinde , 28 ; Azeez Adeleke , 26 ; Ibrahim Balogun , 30 ; and one Samuel aged 27 – had attended a carnival at Iyana Iba last Saturday .

They lived in Ijoko , Ogun State and were said to be returning home with five others when the car knocked them down at the spot around 5 am on Sunday . Three of them reportedly died on the spot .

It was gathered that they had boarded a bus from the venue to the bus stop and were waiting for the next available bus when the incident occurred .

Report learnt that residents sent a distress call to the police at the Gowon Estate Division and the corpses were evacuated to the Mainland General Hospital morgue .

Ayinde ’ s father , Mutiu , a butcher , told our correspondent that he was at work when he received the sad news .

He said , “ I did not sleep at home last Saturday when Wasiu (Ayinde ) attended the carnival with his friends and he did not inform his mother before he left home . I was at work when my wife called me that Wasiu and his friends were involved in an accident around Gowon Estate. He and three other friends died. He was the third child in the family . He was married with a child .

I learnt they were invited to the carnival by their friends . ”
Mutiu described the death as a great loss to the family and urged the police to ensure that the driver was arrested .

A relation of Adeleke , Kazeem Jimoh , said the family knew about the accident through those who sustained injuries .

He said Adeleke , a plumber , was survived by parents , a wife and a child who had since been thrown into mourning .

Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Lagos State Command, have tracked down three suspected vandals allegedly tampering with the pipelines of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation in Ilashe community, Amuwo- Odofin and Abule Odo, Baruwa , in the Alimosho area of the state.

While Yusuf Olojede and Wasiu Abayomi were arrested in Ilashe, one Segun Adigun was apprehended in Abule Odo .

Report learnt that 23 - year- old Olojede was arrested on December 4 , 2018 by the anti - vandal operatives of the corps who stormed the community following a tip - off.

About 500 litres of product suspected to be premium motor spirit ( popularly known as petrol) stored in jerrycans were reportedly recovered from him .

It was gathered that Olojede mentioned Abayomi as one of his accomplices and gave the operatives information which led to his arrest on December 25 .

In an interview with our correspondent on Thursday, Abayomi, a tiler , owned up to scooping fuel from the pipeline .

The 22 - year - old man explained that he and Olojede were going to a football pitch in the neighbourhood on a Sunday when they stumbled on fuel leaking from the pipeline .

He said , “ I am a tiler . I live on Snake Island, Ilashe. Yusuf (Olojede ) and I were going to the field around 7 am that Sunday to play football when we saw fuel leaking from the pipeline . We went back home and brought jerrycans to scoop the fuel. We scooped 14 jerrycans of 30 litres each.

“ Yusuf was arrested a few days after . He was the one who gave the officers information about me . I was arrested on Christmas Day .

“ We did not plan to steal the fuel when we left home for the football pitch that day . We stumbled on the leaking pipeline and felt it was an opportunity for us to scoop some fuel. I regret my action and want the government to forgive me . My parents are dead . ”

Olojede was said to have been granted administrative bail on health grounds .
But the third suspect, Segun Adigun, 29 , who was arrested on Tuesday , denied being a vandal .

The expectant father stated that he was a driver and was driving two traders to Igando to convey some goods when the vehicle had a flat tyre .

He said , “I have been in Lagos for seven years . I am a commercial driver , but in the last seven months, I have been jobless. On Tuesday morning , a friend asked me to come to Alaba . He said somebody needed a driver to convey some foodstuffs to Seme .

“ I took the goods to Seme and came back around 6pm that day . I quickly went back home to check on my wife because she was pregnant . I had not even collected the money for the service .

“ I was at home when my friend called me and said some people wanted to convey goods at Igando . I went back to Alaba and together with the two traders, we left for Igando . They did not tell me what the goods were . I was almost there when I heard a flat tyre . Unfortunately , there was no jack in the vehicle .

The Academic Staff Union of Universities on Thursday said the ongoing strike would not be called off until the Federal Government fully implemented all the offers it made to the union after their last meeting .

The public university lecturers said they were tired of Federal Government ’s antics of making unfulfilled promises , insisting that the strike would be called off after they got tangible evidence and concrete actions that the offers made to them by the Federal Government had been implemented.

The National President , ASUU , Prof . Biodun Ogunyemi, in an exclusive interview with one of our correspondents in Lagos on Thursday , said the team of the union that met with the government on Tuesday did not reach any agreement with the Federal Government .

Asked when the strike would then be called off, Ogunyemi said , “ Our members said they want to see evidence of satisfactory implementation of all they have proposed before the strike can be called off. ”

On Tuesday , ASUU met with the Federal Government officials including the Minister of Education , Adamu Adamu , as well as his Labour and Employment counterpart, Chris Ngige .

After their discussions , Ngige explained what the Federal Government was offering to the union .
He said the Office of the Accountant -General of the Federation and the Ministry of Finance had confirmed with evidence that N 15 . 4bn had been released to public universities .

But ASUU president recalled that last year , the government promised to release funds for the revitalisation of public universities , which was one of the demands of the union , but failed to do so .

Ogunyemi stated, “ As for the proposal , it can be disaggregated. There are items there that require implementation . If they are setting up a committee on state universities , and they actually do , it is not something we need to agree on . It is about action .

“ If they have implemented it , it is off the list. If the government says it will pay a shortfall of salaries on a certain date , and the date comes and they release the money , it is also implementation . There is no agreement on the matter .

“ On the revitalisation fund, we presented to the government that five tranches of N 220bn each were outstanding. The government has not said it will release one, even if it is spread over a period of one year . There is no agreement on that . What they are offering is not even up to one tranche .

Twenty - four hours to the close of the portal for the recruitment of 10 , 000 police constables, the number of Nigerians that have applied to join the Nigeria Police Force has reached over 294,851 .

The recruitment , which began on November 30 , 2018, was expected to close on Friday ( Today ) as required by the Federal Character Commission which stipulated that advertisements for recruitments into Federal Ministries , Departments and Agencies must run for six weeks to give applicants enough time to apply .

The spokesman , Police Service Commission , Ikechukwu Ani , said in a statement in Abuja on Thursday, that Niger State maintained its lead with 17 , 790 applications .

Bayelsa State , on the other hand, kept its last position with 1, 797 applications.
The statement said , “ As at 12 . 30 pm on Thursday , 294, 851 applications have been received . Niger State is followed by Kano with 16 , 800 and Katsina , 16 ,666 . Lagos State is second from the rear with 1, 720 applications, followed by Ebonyi State with 2 , 2

For allegedly parading themselves as suppliers of iron scrap barges and swindling a trader , Martins Anagor , of N 8. 5 m , two friends have been arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court .

The duo of Emmanuel Odunze and Clement Anyanwu were arraigned on three counts of obtaining under false pretences and stealing .
It was gathered that the two friends approached Anagor under the pretext that they could supply him iron scrap worth N 18 m .

It was learnt that the duo succeeded in collecting N8 . 5m from the trader but refused to supply the said scraps .

Anagor said a post - dated cheque of N 6. 5 m was issued to him for a refund, which was dishonoured on presentation at the bank , adding that subsequent attempts at retrieving his money from the suspects resulted in threats to his life.

He stated , “ The two of them came to meet me under the pretext that I should provide about N 18 m to run an iron scrap business . After the completion of the business , they refused to pay back the actual money I invested in the business , which was about N 8. 5 m. They both collected the money and ran away and all efforts made to trace them proved abortive .

“ They extended their criminal act by issuing me a post - dated cheque and when I presented the cheque at the bank , the cheque was returned . I called to notify them and I started receiving series of threat messages from both Odunze and Anyanwu .”

The police prosecutor, Michael Unah, said the offences contravened sections 411, 314 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.

The Imo State University, Owerri , experienced a fire outbreak in the early hours of Thursday. The fire razed the institution ’ s Faculty of Humanities.

The outbreak our correspondent learnt destroyed documents and academic equipment worth millions of Naira .

A student of the university, Justice Okorie, told our Correspondent that the fire started around 3 am and it affected almost all the lecturers ’ offices in the faculty .

Okorie also said that computer offices of various departments in the faculty and libraries were destroyed .

“ A fire outbreak has destroyed the Humanities Faculty Annex of our school. It started by 3 am and before help could be rendered , equipment and valuable documents have been destroyed ,” Okorie said .

A Lagos driver operating on one of the popular car hailing services in the country met his Waterloo, early this morning, after he allegedly stole a phone belonging to his client.
The suspect had gone to drop the lady at her Omole Estate Phase 1 home, but when she went inside to get money to pay for the ride, the man allegedly changed the location of her iPhone 8.


After she returned, she discovered that her phone was missing, but the driver denied having anything to do with its disappearance.
However, a search was conducted and the phone was eventually discovered, safely hidden in the car’s sunroof, prompting the driver to be punished and later freed after confessing and apologizing.

A young man in his late 20 s , identified as Chimezie Dike , was on Saturday stabbed to death during a fight with one Henry Ekeozor over the pasting of campaign posters on the wall of a building .

The incident was said to have happened around 8 .20 pm at 40 B Azikiwe Street, Mile 2 , Diobu , Port Harcourt , Rivers State.

The deceased , according to sources , was not a member of the All Progressives Congress , but was contracted to paste the campaign posters of Collyns Owondah, a House of Representatives candidate of the party in the area .

It was gathered that Henry and his mother , Ifeoma Ekeozor, a woman leader of the APC in the area, had expressed dissatisfaction over the pasting of campaign posters of the House of Representatives candidate on the wall of their residence .

The disapproval by the duo reportedly caused a fierce argument with Dike , a development that degenerated into a fight before the victim was stabbed in the chest.

A source said Dike bled to death before he was rushed to a nearby hospital , where he was confirmed dead by doctors.

The source , who identified himself as Dengi , said , “ The woman ( Ifeoma Ekeozor ) is a woman leader in the APC , while the man , whose campaign posters were being posted , is also of the same political party , but they belong to different factions of the party .

“ The young man pasting the campaign poster was Chimezie Dike from the Nwangele Local Government Area of Imo State. The boy came to the street to paste the posters of a politician running for an election .

“ In the process , the son of the woman leader began to quarrel with him and within a short time , the son of the woman stabbed Chimezie . He ( Chimezie) died before he got to the hospital .”

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Ayodele Fayose , has described the outcry over the appointment of Amina Zakari as head of Independent National Electoral Commission Collation Centre for the general elections as a moral burden on President Muhammadu Buhari , the All Progressives Congress and the electoral umpire.

Fayose said defence of the appointment by the presidency and INEC was a further show of alleged desperation to rig the February 16 presidential election in spite of the alleged rejection of the president by Nigerians .

The Presidency had on Friday denied insinuations of blood relationship between Buhari and Zakari , clarifying that their extended families only had marriage link, adding that the woman was appointed into INEC by the former President Goodluck Jonathan ’ s Peoples Democratic Party government.

But Fayose , in a statement on Saturday by his Media Aide , Lere Olayinka , said with the doubt being raised over the ability of Zakari to be neutral in the position in the election, “ fairness and equity demand that she should step aside from playing any role in this election.

“ Even if Amina Zakari can be as impartial as she can be , now that Nigerians are thinking that there is a real likelihood of her being biased, she should excuse herself . More so that she is not the only National Commissioner in INEC ,” Fayose stated .

He described the Presidency ’ s defence that Zakari was appointed by a PDP government as puerile and unacceptable, saying ; “ When Amina Zakari was appointed as INEC National Commissioner , President Buhari , her relation, was not a presidential candidate .

“ In fact , the President had even vowed never to run for the Presidency after the 2011 election. Now that he is a candidate and also a sitting President , fairness and equity demands that she should step aside from playing any role in this election” .

“ Certain things can be good , but might not be morally right . This issue of Amina Zakari , a known relation of the APC presidential candidate , functioning as INEC head of collation centre is morally wrong .

“ Therefore , the Presidency and INEC have the moral burden to prove to Nigerians that they are not in any way out to shortchange them .”

The Director - General of the Buhari Presidential Campaign Organisation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, has been caught on tape allegedly criticising President Muhammadu Buhari.

The audio clip, which is less than 10 seconds , was posted on Twitter by Reno Omokiri , a former aide to ex -President Goodluck Jonathan .

In the clip which could not be authenticated, Amaechi, who is also the Minister of Transportation, purportedly said Buhari neither reads nor listens to anyone.

Amaechi purportedly said , “ The President is not listening to anybody . He doesn’ t care . You can write anything you want . The President doesn’ t care . Does he read ?”

The context in which Amaechi made the statement was unknown .
The person who the minister was talking to is also not stated .

However, Omokri, who is a staunch critic of the Buhari government, said he had evidence to show that the audio was genuine .

He threatened to release more audio clips in the event that Amaechi denies the authenticity of the clip.

Omokri wrote , “ We have more of the secretly recorded audios of Chibuike Amaechi, DG of the Muhammadu Buhari campaign , saying terrible things about Buhari’ s government. I hear Amaechi wants to lie that he was referring to Goodluck Jonathan .

President Muhammadu Buhari and the Inspector - General of Police, Ibrahim Idris , held a closed - door meeting on Friday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The curious meeting was held a day after the official due retirement of Idris, who served out his working years a day earlier on Thursday.
The IG turned 35 years in service on January 3 . He will also turn 60 years on January 15 .

But, he arrived at the Presidential Villa to join Buhari for the meeting soon after the Friday prayers .

The meeting lasted till about 2 . 35 pm before Idris left the Villa .

There was no word from him on his mission.
The Presidency also kept mum over the development as none of the official spokespersons of the President offered explanations in the failed attempts.

There have been speculation that Buhari plans to extend Idris ’ tenure so that he can oversee the security of the February polls.
The President has neither denied nor confirmed the rumours .

The Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organization (PPCO) charges the National Assembly to save our nation from imminent political crisis by immediately commencing the process of the removal of President Muhammadu Buhari’s niece, Mrs. Amina Zakari, from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Our position is predicated on the fact that it is clear to all, that Amina Zakari’s uncle, President Buhari, having been rejected by Nigerians, is now using her as virus to compromise the independence of the commission, manipulate the electoral process and rig the Presidential election for him.

The Buhari Presidency has been using Amina Zakari to bear pressure on INEC even to the extent of brazenly foisting her as the collation officer for the Presidential election to enable President Buhari announce himself as winner.

The PPCO holds that a credible electoral commission must be completely impartial, transparent, totally independent and immune from external control by interested entities.

These are qualities INEC can no longer lay claim to as long as Amina Zakari remains a member of the commission.

By foisting Mrs. Amina Zakari to lead the final process of the election, President Buhari is seeking a way to annex INEC, practically, take over the collation of results, and announce himself the winner.

This is a clear invitation to anarchy and a huge political crisis capable of derailing our democracy because Nigerians, across the board, are already in vehement rejection of this self-succession plot and are now, more than ever before, ready to use every necessary means available and accessible to them in a democracy to protect our democratic process.

Furthermore, as long as Amina Zakari remains in INEC, the commission cannot be trusted. It will interest Nigerians to know that following public outcry against her nomination, Amina Zakari’s agents, last night, surreptitiously attempted to compromise the media by sending secret messages to emails of editors with the view to water down and sway the direction of information on her provocative appointment to lead the collation of Presidential election results.

President Muhammadu Buhari has promised to complete all the abandoned projects initiated by the People ’s Democratic Party in the South East zone .

Buhari who spoke to journalists at Ihitte/ Uboma Local Government Area of Imo State on Thursday during the inauguration of a gully erosion control project said that the South East will benefit more if reelected.

Represented by the minister of Science and Technology , Ogbennaya Onu , the president said that the claim by the opposition that he was unfair to the south East was untrue .

Onu said , “ President Muhammadu Buhari ’ s government is committed to ensuring that all the PDP abandoned projects in the Southeast geopolitical zone are completed under his reign as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. ”

Fulani socio - cultural organisation , Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore , has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to place the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar , under security watch ahead of next month ’ s elections .

In a communiqué issued at the end of an emergency meeting and signed by Miyetti Allah Kautal National President , Alhaji Abdullahi Bodejo , and the National Secretary , Saleh Alhassan , the group said the former Vice- President was capable of destabilising the country .

The group lambasted Atiku for saying that killings by herdsmen would continue if Buhari is re -elected .

The statement read in part , “ We appeal to President Muhammad Buhari to instruct the security agencies to monitor Atiku Abubakar considering his volatile and inciting statement he made against the herders .

“ His statement as a Presidential candidate is capable of destabilising the country especially considering that he is currently surrounded by anarchist and hate speech merchants feeding on the lucrative industry of fake news and ethic irredentism. ”

Although the group did not endorse Buhari outright , it called on all its members across the country to launch a massive campaign against the PDP candidate .

Miyetti Allah also slammed former President Olusegun Obasanjo for endorsing Atiku .

It said Atiku was not worthy of being called a Fulani leader and called on the Lamido of Adamawa to strip him of all his titles .

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar , says he welcomes whatever reasonable measures the Federal Government takes to put an end to the needless loss of lives and property in Zamfara and Katsina states , but warns that imposing an emergency rule in the two states can only address the symptoms rather than the cause of the current security crisis facing the North- West states .

Reacting to the call by Governor Abdul - Aziz Yari for the imposition of a state of emergency in Zamfara State, Atiku said in a statement by his Special Assistant on Public Communication , Mr. Phrank Shaibu , that a fundamental solution must be sought to the crisis to ensure lasting peace .

The statement said the deal being struck between the Federal Government and the governors of Zamfara and Katsina states reflected the desperation of the All Progressives Congress - led Federal Government to ‘’ capture ’’ the states at all cost during next month ’ s general elections .

“ The deal, cut at a meeting in the Presidential Villa in Abuja, is simple : The Federal Government will impose a state of emergency in Zamfara , to provide a window for the APC to field a candidate for the governorship election in the state having failed to do so within the time frame stipulated by the ( Independent National Electoral ) Commission , ’’ Shaibu said in a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday , adding that “ everything that is required for this manipulation has been provided by the leadership of the party . ”

Atiku said the implication of the plot was that even President Buhari , ‘ for all his sweet words on ensuring free and fair elections and avoiding unethical measures to win at all cost , ’ was ready to do anything just to ‘’ capture ’’ Zamfara and Katsina states for his party .

The PDP presidential candidate , however , said although the plot was meant to put his party at a disadvantage , the ‘ PDP would not lose any sleep over the ignoble deal, since the battle to rescue Nigeria from incompetence and bad leadership would be fought by the people themselves and not by the Governor of Zamfara or President Buhari ’ s hatchet men. ’

A 53 - year- old civil servant in Katsina State, Kabir Yakubu, has been accused of raping his neighbour’ s four- year - old daughter .

Yakubu of Karin kudu Quarters in the Bakori Local Government Area of the state , was said to have committed the offence on December 22 , 2018 .

It was gathered that the victim’ s mother , Aisha Murtala , reported the incident to the police at Bakori .

Yakubu, the victim and her mother are neighbours in the same compound in Bakori .
According to the Police First Information Report on the incident , the accused allegedly lured the victim into his apartment and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.

The FIR read in part , “ On December 22 , 2018, around 8 . 30 pm , one Aisha Murtala of the Karin Kudu Quarters , Bakori , Bakori LGA, reported that around 5 pm , Kabir Yakubu ( 53 ) , of the same address, deceived and lured her daughter into his matrimonial room and forcefully had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.
