if Jesus is of the same equality with God, why did he directed all the glory. To God.Are you reading and understanding the scripture or are you dwelling on what was sucessfully passed on to you by your religious heads. Mark 10:18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good save one, even God. John 7:16 Jesus therefore answered them and said, My teaching is not mine, but his that sent me. Philippians 2:5 - 11 Have this mind in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: who, existing in the form of God, counted not the being on an equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men; and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, becoming obedient even unto death, yea, the death of the cross. Wherefore also God highly exalted him, and gave unto him the name which is above every name; that in the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven and things on earth and things under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. |

Ignore No More By Dave Branon Philippians 1:27-30 Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ: that, whether I come and see you or be absent, I may hear of your state, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one soul striving for the faith of the gospel; 28 and in nothing affrighted by the adversaries: which is for them an evident token of perdition, but of your salvation, and that from God; 29 because to you it hath been granted in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer in his behalf: Philippians 1:30 having the same conflict which ye saw in me, and now hear to be in me. *****The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes. Psalm 19:8 I don’t know how these people find me, but I keep getting more and more flyers in the mail from folks asking me to show up at their events so they can teach me about retirement benefits. It started several years ago when I began getting invitations to join an organization that works on behalf of retirees. These reminders all serve to say: “You’re getting older. Get ready!” I have ignored them all along, but soon enough I’m going to have to break down and go to one of their meetings. I really should be taking action on their suggestions. Sometimes I hear a similar reminder in the wisdom of Scripture. We know that what the passage says is true about us, but we are just not ready to respond. Maybe it’s a passage like Romans 14:13 that says, “Let us stop passing judgment on one another.” Or the reminder in 2 Corinthians 9:6, which tells us, “Whoever sows generously will also reap generously.” Or this reminder in Philippians 1: “Stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel without being frightened” (vv. 27-28). As we read God’s Word, we get vital reminders. Let’s take these seriously as from the heart of the Father who knows what honors Him and is best for us. Thank You, Lord, for Your gentle reminders. We know that the things You tell us to do in Your Word are for our good and for Your glory. Help us to step up and do the things that bring honor to Your name. Holiness is simply Christ in us fulfilling the will and commands of the Father. ***** The apostle Paul was concerned that believers in the Roman colony of Philippi live exemplary and holy lives. He prayed for their spiritual growth and maturity (Phil. 1:9–11) and exhorted them to “conduct [themselves] in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ” (v. 27). This was a constant reminder and refrain in Paul’s letters (Eph. 4:1; Col. 1:10; 1 Thess. 2:12). The life “worthy of the gospel of Christ” is characterized by steadfastness, unity, harmony, humility, and a willingness to suffer. Suffering for Christ is a gift and a privilege for the believer (Acts 5:41; Phil. 1:29; 1 Peter 2:21; 3:14; 4:16). |
malvisguy212:thank You my Friend, i enjoyed reading the link you created about the trinity.Meanwhile, you'll notice i didn't shed adequate light about the holy spirit as a workforce of Almighty God. I think this link would clear the air. http://jehovah.to/exe/general/holyspirit.htm meditating on the word of God is essential however, believes nor christian denomination does not matter to God,muslim or christian, anyone who keeps his commandments is who he remembers just like in the case of Job. |
eduj:the context of the bolded does not march the bible verses you quoted, please can you paste the full bible verses. We are here to learn. The other bible verses also was misleading from the actual definition of your intent. What i understood from those other scriptures was that Jesus who was risen from the dead was trying to convince Thomas and his disciples that "i am he". Please elaborate if you can.Thank you. |
eduj:in the "beginning "was the word Jesus was called the firstborn of all creation many times in the bible. He is God's first ever creation,he has a "beginning",but that cannot be said of God who has no "beginning", He was in existence even before the world was created: "He is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of all creation; for in him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible .... all things were created through him and for him." (Colossians 1:15-16)yes,the word was with God highlighting the bond between God and The Son Jesus, because Jesus is coming to relay the message of salvation to mankind,he is of complete oneness or accord with God. And the word was God. The Bible mentions that, in many cases, some mortal men are considered gods. Moses was called a god: "And the Lord said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brohter shall be thy prophet." (Exodus 7:1, ) And in the first book of the Bible, Abraham is called a god: "The Hittites answered Abraham, 'Hear us, my lord; you are a mighty prince among us.'" (Genesis 23:4-5) Angels are called gods: "For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then you eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil" (Genesis 3:5,) A specific reference to a messenger of the Lord is made at Judges 13:21-22 which states: "But the angel of the Lord appeared no more to Mano'ah and to his wife." References to angels as gods are found in dozens of other places in the Bible. Other groups, too, are called gods. In the second Old Testament book, the judges appointed by Moses are called gods: "Then his master shall bring him unto the judges [elohim]..." (Exodus 21:6,; also see Exodus 22:8-9, 28) Even the princes of Egypt are referred to as gods: "For I will pass through the land of Egypt that night, and I will smite all the first-born in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and on all the gods of Egypt [princes] I will execute judgments: I am the Lord." (Exodus 12:12) Even Jesus made mention of mortal men being called gods: '"In your own Law it says that men are gods!" he replied.' (John 10:34,) Satan is called a god in the New testament: "In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers...." (2 Corinthians 4:4) The ruler Herod is also called a god: "On an appointed day Herod put on his royal robes, took his seat upon the throne, and made an oration to them. And the people shouted, 'The voice of a god , and not of man!'" (Acts 12:21-22) Since so many beings are referred to as gods, how do we know when the Bible speaks of the only true God -the Creator of the heavens and the earth? 1 Corinthians 15:27 For, He put all things in subjection under his feet. But when he saith, All things are put in subjection, it is evident that he is excepted who did subject all things unto him. 1 Corinthians 15:28 And when all things have been subjected unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subjected to him that did subject all things unto him, that God may be all in all |
eduj:Holy Spirit is God's active force,or work force. It our cherished gift from God. |
BlackHummer:thank you for your qualitative insight, your scriptural awareness is precise. Everything you said about Jesus' position is true, Jesus is in us,he bought us with a very big price, thats why demons and soldiers of darkness flee at the mention of that name. |
If Jesus is God why did he prayed to God and why did God rejected his wish for the cup to be removed from him? Lets discuss trinity.Lets not dwell on the unbiblical dogma instilled to us by our religious leader. |
cckris:i believe in Jesus, the only begotten son of the true God,who died so that we shall be saved. He is not God,stop twisting the glaring bible truth. Proclaimers of the Trinity theory use John 1:1 as their strongest proof that Jehovah and Jesus are one and the same: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." And, on the surface, this statement seems to be a rather straight forward explanation of the relationship of God and Jesus. However, truth does not arise from single Bible verses taken out of context or blindly accepted without research and study. However, there are hundreds of bible verse that shed light on Jesus rightful place among The heavenly realm and men. |
***** Conclusion: Its not a case of what the religious leaders instilled in your hearts,Biblical research, therefore, proves that even the concept of the Trinity, as taught by Christian religions, did not exist, and could not have existed, during all of Biblical history. The deduction, by factual research and logical reasoning, is that there is absolutely no evidence or proof that there is a Trinity. The evidence, in fact, proves the opposite -- there is definitely not a Trinity. The Father is Jehovah, the Creator of the Universe. The Son is Jesus Christ, begotten by the Father. And the Holy Spirit is God's power -his active force -not a person or being. |
Jesus the Son Then I was by him, as a master workman; And I was daily his delight, Rejoicing always before him, Rejoicing in his habitable earth; And my delight was with the sons of men. Now therefore, my sons, hearken unto me; For blessed are they that keep my ways. Hear instruction, and be wise, And refuse it not. Blessed is the man that heareth me, Watching daily at my gates, Waiting at the posts of my doors. For whoso findeth me findeth life, And shall obtain favor of Jehovah. But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: All they that hate me love death. - Proverbs 8:30-36 . Here are 60 Bible texts which prove conclusively that Jesus was NOT GOD, but RATHER the SON of God. [If in fact He WAS God, (as trinitarians would want us to believe), He could not have really died; and the act of paying the Ransom would merely have been a hoax!] Matthew 3:16-17; 8:29; 11:27; 12:18; 14:33; 16:16; 17:5; 27:54 Mark 5:7; 15:39 Luke 1:32; 8:28; 9:35; 10:22 John 1:18; 1:34; 1:49; 3:16; 5:19-23; 6:40; 6:69; 8:42; 10:15; 11:4; 12:49-50; 14:13; 14:23; 14:28; 16:17; 17:1-26 Acts 2:22-24; 3:13; 3:26; 9:20 Romans 1:4; 5:10; 8:13; 8:29-32 1 Corinthians 11:3; 15:28 2 Corinthians 1:19 Galatians 4:4 Colossians 1:13 1 Thessalonians 1:10 Hebrews 1:2; 4:14; 5:8; 7:3; 11:17 2 Peter 1:17 1 John 1:3; 1:22; 3:23; 4:10; 4:14-15; 5:6; 5:11-12 2 John 1:9 Revelation 2:8 Since these texts exist in God's Word, the Gospel story has been told over and over again. However, it could NOT be told if Jesus had really been God and the ransom had not actually been paid! |
God The Father Psalms 83:18 That they may know that thou alone, whose name is Jehovah, Art the Most High over all the earth. God the Father is the creator and sustainer of the universe. As mere humans, we cannot see or touch God and we cannot fully understand how or why He came into being and created the universe: For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8-9, NRSV) However, the Bible reveals some of God's characteristics in ways that we can understand: *God is the creator of everything (Genesis 1:1, Acts 17:24-25, Revelation 4:11). *God is our Father and we are His children (Deuteronomy 14:1, Isaiah 63:16, Matthew 5:43-45, 6:7-9, Mark 11:25). *God is purely spiritual and invisible to us (John 4:24, 1 John 4:12, 1 Timothy 1:17). *God is incomprehensible to us (Job 11:7-9, Psalms 18:11, Isaiah 55:8-9, Matthew 11:27, 1 Corinthians 2:16). *God is all-powerful (Genesis 18:13-14, Job 42:1-2, Matthew 19:26). *God is loving (Deuteronomy 4:37, Psalms 146:8, John 3:16, Romans 5:8, 1 John 4:8-16). *God is eternal (Genesis 21:33, Psalms 90:2, Revelation 4:8-10). *God is perfect (Matthew 5:48). *God is faithful and keeps His promises (Numbers 23:19, John 8:26, 1 Corinthians 10:13, Titus 1:1-3, 1 Peter 4:19). *God is merciful (Psalms 86:5, Matthew 18:11-14, Ephesians 2:4-7, 1 Peter 1:3). |
First things first, Trinity was not mentioned in the bible, a check of any concordance will prove this fact. Not only is it not mentioned, but the doctrine is neither found in the New Testament, nor the Old Testament. But Most Christians in the world today believe in the Trinity which is the union of the three divine persons -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit -- into one Godhead Sincere Christians, however, are more interested in obtaining accurate knowledge from Biblical research than in twisting and manipulating the scriptures to fit some preconceived man-made doctrine or dogma. To these people, truth is more important than tradition. Is the dogma of the Trinity fact or not? Let us examine the evidence. "...for they received the word with all eagerness, examining the scriptures daily to see if these things were so." (Acts 17:11) "...test everything; hold fast what is good, abstain from every form of evil." (1 Thessalonians 5:21-22) However, some thought provoking questions went thus: *Where is the Trinity mentioned in the Bible? *How can three persons of the Trinity be one at the same time? *Who or what is the Holy Spirit and what is it for? *Is the Holy Ghost the same as the Holy Spirit? *Is Jesus God? *Was Jesus human? *If Jesus is God, why did He pray to God? *If Jesus is God, why did He call God His Father? *How can Jesus be God and also be God's Son? *Do Jesus share equal rights and sovereignty with God? *If truely Jesus is God why did he said that only God knows the end of the world Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord' (Deut. 6:4)pt] Some people think Christians worship three different gods, but that is a misinterpretation of the Trinity. Christians worship the same one true God who revealed Himself to Abraham (Genesis 17:1- - the same God worshiped by Jews and Muslims. Most Christian denominations accept the doctrine of the Trinity, but not Christian Scientists, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons), Jehovah's Witnesses, and some other denominations. Jews and Muslims also reject the doctrine of the Trinity. However, Jesus taught that God reveals Himself to us in three ways (John 14:6-10, 14:25-26):And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age." (Matthew 28:18-20, NRSV) |

When to Walk Away By Lawrence Darmani Genesis 39:1-12 Genesis: 39. 1. And Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him of the hands of the Ishmeelites, which had brought him down thither. 2. And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. 3. And his master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did to prosper in his hand. 4. And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand. 5. And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian's house for Joseph's sake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field. 6. And he left all that he had in Joseph's hand; and he knew not ought he had, save the bread which he did eat. And Joseph was a goodly person, and well favoured. 7. And it came to pass after these things, that his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me. 8. But he refused, and said unto his master's wife, Behold, my master wotteth not what is with me in the house, and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand; 9. There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God? 10. And it came to pass, as she spake to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her. 11. And it came to pass about this time, that Joseph went into the house to do his business; and there was none of the men of the house there within. 12. And she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out. ****God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. compare 1 Corinthians 10:13 When my father became a Christian in his old age, he fascinated me with his plan for overcoming temptation. Sometimes he just walked away! For example, whenever a disagreement between him and a neighbor began to degenerate into a quarrel, my father just walked away for a time rather than be tempted to advance the quarrel. One day he met with some friends who ordered pito (a locally brewed alcoholic beer). My father had formerly struggled with alcohol and had decided he was better off without it. So he simply stood up, said his goodbyes, and left the gathering of old friends for another day. In Genesis, we read how Potiphar’s wife tempted Joseph. He immediately recognized that giving in would cause him to “sin against God,” so he fled (Gen. 39:9-12). Temptation knocks often at our door. Sometimes it comes from our own desires, other times through the situations and people we encounter. As Paul told the Corinthians, “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind.” But he also wrote, “God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it” (1 Cor. 10:13). The “way out” may include removing the objects of temptation or fleeing from them. Our best course of action may be to simply walk away. Lord, please give me the wisdom and strength to know when to walk away from situations and people that tempt me to do wrong. Every temptation is an opportunity to flee to God. |
Positive Repetition Poh Fang Chia Read! Deuteronomy 30:11-20 Deuteronomy: 30. 16. In that I command thee this day to love the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the LORD thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it. A journalist had a quirky habit of not using blue pens. So when his colleague asked him if he needed anything from the store, he asked for some pens. “But not blue pens,” he said. “I don’t want blue pens. I don’t like blue. Blue is too heavy. So please purchase 12 ballpoint pens for me—anything but blue!” The next day his colleague passed him the pens—and they were all blue. When asked to explain, he said, “You kept saying ‘blue, blue.’ That’s the word that left the deepest impression!” The journalist’s use of repetition had an effect, but not the one he desired. Moses, the lawgiver of Israel, also used repetition in his requests to his people. More than 30 times he urged his people to remain true to the law of their God. Yet the result was the opposite of what he asked for. He told them that obedience would lead them to life and prosperity, but disobedience would lead to destruction (Deut. 30:15-18). When we love God, we want to walk in His ways not because we fear the consequences but because it is our joy to please the One we love. That’s a good word to remember. Dear Lord, as we read Your inspired story, may Your Spirit be our teacher. Help us to walk the path of obedience as we hear the voice of Your heart. Love for God will cause you to live for God. ***** Today’s passage begins with a beautiful statement of how intimately God wants us to know Him. He has not given us commandments that are “too difficult” or “beyond our reach” (Deut. 30:11). This passage ends with the reason His commands are “very near” (v. 14)—that we may love and obey God and enjoy life in Him (v. 20). |
My candid advice for you is to become a Jehovah's Witness, you will see a new light and spiritual calmness, look closely,i think they are the true religion. It will interest you to know that they've got nothing like pastors used to extort money from gullible, you won't encounter anoying offering and blessing time like almost three times before church service ends.Just go to JW,thats my lifetime advice, but be ready to evangelise publicly,. Warning: your dress code would change as if you're a bank staff but you would learn another level of HUMILITY. |
Deeply Loved By Randy Kilgore Matthew 6:26 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? 26. Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? 27. Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? 28. And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: 29. And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? 31. Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32. (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. 34. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. ***Your heavenly Father feeds [the birds of the air]. Are you not much more valuable than they? Matthew 6:26 Years ago I had an office in Boston that looked out on the Granary Burying Ground where many prominent American heroes are buried. There one can find the gravestones for John Hancock and Samuel Adams, two signers of the Declaration of Independence, and just a few feet beyond that is Paul Revere’s marker. But no one really knows where in this burial ground each body is buried because the stones have been moved many times—sometimes to make the grounds more picturesque and other times so lawn mowers could fit between them. And while the Granary features approximately 2,300 markers, closer to 5,000 people are buried there! Even in death, it seems, some people are not fully known. There may be times when we feel as if we are like those unmarked residents of the Granary, unknown and unseen. Loneliness can make us feel unseen by others—and maybe even by God. But we must remind ourselves that even though we may feel forgotten by our Creator God, we are not. God not only made us in His image (Gen. 1:26-27), but He also values each of us individually and sent His Son to save us (John 3:16). Even in our darkest hours, we can rest in the knowledge we are never alone, for our loving God is with us. Thank You, Lord, that You never leave me alone and that You know all about me. Make me aware of Your presence so I may share that comfort with others who are feeling alone too. We are important because God loves us. ******* The Sermon on the Mount is all about the life of those who are part of God’s kingdom. One of the characteristics of our heavenly Father is that He is our great provider—a fact that Jesus emphasizes in today’s text. He describes the extent to which the Father goes to provide for His children. But what is most important is that this provision is not in response to our obedience or because we deserve it—it is because of our value to God (Matt. 6:26). |
Looking Up By David McCasland Psalm 146:1-10 Praise ye the LORD. Praise the LORD, O my soul. 2. While I live will I praise the LORD: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being. 3. Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help. 4. His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish. 5. Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God: 6. Which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that therein is: which keepeth truth for ever: 7. Which executeth judgment for the oppressed: which giveth food to the hungry. The LORD looseth the prisoners: 8. The LORD openeth the eyes of the blind: the LORD raiseth them that are bowed down: the LORD loveth the righteous: 9. The LORD preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down. 10. The LORD shall reign for ever, even thy God, O Zion, unto all generations. Praise ye the LORD. *****The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down. Psalm 146:8 An article in the Surgical Technology International journal says that looking down at a smart phone with your head bent forward is the equivalent of having a 60-pound weight on your neck. When we consider that millions of people around the world spend an average of 2-4 hours daily reading and texting, the resulting damage to neck and spine becomes a growing health concern. It is also easy to become spiritually bowed down by the burdens of life. How often we find ourselves discouraged by the problems we face and the needs of those we love. The psalmist understood this weight of concern yet saw hope as he wrote about “the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them—[who] remains faithful forever. He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry. The Lord sets prisoners free, the Lord gives sight to the blind, the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down, the Lord loves the righteous” (Ps. 146:6- .When we consider God’s care, His great power, and His loving heart, we can begin to look up and praise Him. We can walk through each day knowing that “the Lord reigns forever . . . for all generations” (v. 10). He lifts us up when we are bowed down. Praise the Lord! O Lord, lift our eyes to see Your power and love today so we can raise our heads and our hearts in grateful praise to You. Faith in God’s goodness puts a song in your heart. *******In today’s psalm, the psalmist responds in grateful worship as he reflects on the greatness and grace of God. He invites us to trust the Lord, to look to Him for help, and to place our hope in Him. Looking Up David McCasland Psalm 146:1-10 Praise ye the LORD. He is the omnipotent, eternal God, the Creator who is forever faithful (vv. 5–6), just, benevolent, gracious, compassionate, and loving (vv. 7–9). The psalmist’s message is a simple one: Trust in God, not in man, for only those who trust God can be truly blessed. |
My Personal Space By C. P. Hia Luke 8:40-48 And it came to pass, that, when Jesus was returned, the people gladly received him: for they were all waiting for him. 41. And, behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue: and he fell down at Jesus' feet, and besought him that he would come into his house: 42. For he had one only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay a dying. But as he went the people thronged him. 43. And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any, 44. Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched. 45. And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? 46. And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me. 47. And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him and how she was healed immediately. 48. And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace. We do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses. She created a vest to protect one’s personal space from being invaded while traveling in the crush of crowded public trains and buses. The vest was covered with long, flexible plastic spikes normally used to keep birds and cats away from plants. Jesus knew what it was like to lose His personal space in the commotion of crowds desperate to see and touch Him. A woman who had suffered from constant bleeding for 12 years and could find no cure touched the fringe of His robe. Immediately, her bleeding stopped (Luke 8:43-44). Jesus’ question, “Who touched me?” (v. 45) isn’t as strange as it sounds. He felt power come out of Him (v. 46). That touch was different from those who merely happened to accidentally touch Him. While we must admit that we do sometimes wish to keep our personal space and privacy, the only way we help a world of hurting people is to let them get close enough to be touched by the encouragement, comfort, and grace of Christ in us. First, Jesus calms a storm while out in a boat on the sea (Luke 8:22–25). Then when the boat reaches the other side of the sea, Jesus heals a man possessed by demons (vv. 26–39). Finally, Luke records that while going to heal the daughter of Jairus, a synagogue leader, Jesus heals a woman who had been suffering from bleeding for years (vv. 40–48). In the end, Jesus brings Jairus’s daughter back to life (vv. 48–56). Self-Care Cindy Hess Kasper Exodus 18:14-24 And when Moses' father in law saw all that he did to the people, he said, What is this thing that thou doest to the people? why sittest thou thyself alone, and all the people stand by thee from morning unto even? 15. And Moses said unto his father in law, Because the people come unto me to inquire of God: 16. When they have a matter, they come unto me; and I judge between one and another, and I do make them know the statutes of God, and his laws. 17. And Moses' father in law said unto him, The thing that thou doest is not good. 18. Thou wilt surely wear away, both thou, and this people that is with thee: for this thing is too heavy for thee; thou art not able to perform it thyself alone. 19. Hearken now unto my voice, I will give thee counsel, and God shall be with thee: Be thou for the people to Godward, that thou mayest bring the causes unto God: 20. And thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws, and shalt shew them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do. 21. Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens: 22. And let them judge the people at all seasons: and it shall be, that every great matter they shall bring unto thee, but every small matter they shall judge: so shall it be easier for thyself, and they shall bear the burden with thee. 23. If thou shalt do this thing, and God command thee so, then thou shalt be able to endure, and all this people shall also go to their place in peace. 24. So Moses hearkened to the voice of his father in law, and did all that he had said. Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest. [Mark 6:31 After my husband underwent heart surgery, I spent an anxious night by his hospital bed. Mid-morning, I remembered a scheduled haircut. “I’ll have to cancel,” I said, raking my fingers distractedly through my straggly hair. “Mom, just wash your face and go to your appointment,” my daughter said. “No, no,” I insisted. “It doesn’t matter. I need to be here.” “I’ll stay,” Rosie said. “Self-care, Mom. . . . Self-care. You’re of more use to Dad if you take care of yourself.” Moses was wearing himself out serving alone as judge over the Israelites. Jethro cautioned his son-in-law Moses: “You will only wear [yourself] out. The work is too heavy . . . you cannot handle it alone” (Ex. 18:18). He then explained ways that Moses could delegate his work and share his heavy load with others. Though it may seem paradoxical for the Christian, self-care is essential for a healthy life (Matt. 22:37-39; Eph. 5:29-30). Yes, we must love God first and love others as well, but we also need to get adequate rest to renew our body and spirit. Sometimes self-care means stepping away and graciously allowing others to help us with our burdens. Jesus often slipped away to rest and pray (Mark 6:30-32). When we follow His example, we will be more effective in our relationships and better able to give care to others. Dear Lord, refresh my spirit today. Help me to bring balance to my life as I juggle my responsibilities. Thank You for Your love and care. Don’t try to do everything—take time to refresh your body and spirit. It is hard to imagine the complexity and variety of tasks Moses faced as he led the Hebrew slaves to freedom. The Israelites had been gone from Egypt less than three months (see Ex. 19:1) when the load was already too great for one person to bear. This prompted Jethro’s wise counsel that Moses share the load with others. |
March 12 2016 Abigail’s Reminder Jennifer Benson Schuldt 1 Samuel 25:14-33 1 Samuel: 25. 14. But one of the young men told Abigail, Nabal's wife, saying, Behold, David sent messengers out of the wilderness to salute our master; and he railed on them. 15. But the men were very good unto us, and we were not hurt, neither missed we any thing, as long as we were conversant with them, when we were in the fields: 16. They were a wall unto us both by night and day, all the while we were with them keeping the sheep. 17. Now therefore know and consider what thou wilt do; for evil is determined against our master, and against all his household: for he is such a son of Belial, that a man cannot speak to him. 18. Then Abigail made haste, and took two hundred loaves, and two bottles of wine, and five sheep ready dressed, and five measures of parched corn, and an hundred clusters of raisins, and two hundred cakes of figs, and laid them on asses. 19. And she said unto her servants, Go on before me; behold, I come after you. But she told not her husband Nabal. 20. And it was so, as she rode on the ass, that she came down by the covert of the hill, and, behold, David and his men came down against her; and she met them. 21. Now David had said, Surely in vain have I kept all that this fellow hath in the wilderness, so that nothing was missed of all that pertained unto him: and he hath requited me evil for good. 22. So and more also do God unto the enemies of David, if I leave of all that pertain to him by the morning light any that pisseth against the wall. 23. And when Abigail saw David, she hasted, and lighted off the ass, and fell before David on her face, and bowed herself to the ground, 24. And fell at his feet, and said, Upon me, my lord, upon me let this iniquity be: and let thine handmaid, I pray thee, speak in thine audience, and hear the words of thine handmaid. 25. Let not my lord, I pray thee, regard this man of Belial, even Nabal: for as his name is, so is he; Nabal is his name, and folly is with him: but I thine handmaid saw not the young men of my lord, whom thou didst send. 26. Now therefore, my lord, as the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, seeing the LORD hath withholden thee from coming to shed blood, and from avenging thyself with thine own hand, now let thine enemies, and they that seek evil to my lord, be as Nabal. 27. And now this blessing which thine handmaid hath brought unto my lord, let it even be given unto the young men that follow my lord. 28. I pray thee, forgive the trespass of thine handmaid: for the LORD will certainly make my lord a sure house; because my lord fighteth the battles of the LORD, and evil hath not been found in thee all thy days. 29. Yet a man is risen to pursue thee, and to seek thy soul: but the soul of my lord shall be bound in the bundle of life with the LORD thy God; and the souls of thine enemies, them shall he sling out, as out of the middle of a sling. 30. And it shall come to pass, when the LORD shall have done to my lord according to all the good that he hath spoken concerning thee, and shall have appointed thee ruler over Israel; 31. That this shall be no grief unto thee, nor offence of heart unto my lord, either that thou hast shed blood causeless, or that my lord hath avenged himself: but when the LORD shall have dealt well with my lord, then remember thine handmaid. 32. And David said to Abigail, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, which sent thee this day to meet me: 33. And blessed be thy advice, and blessed be thou, which hast kept me this day from coming to shed blood, and from avenging myself with mine own hand. When the Lord takes pleasure in anyone’s way, he causes their enemies to make peace with them. Proverbs 16:7 Proverbs: 16. 7. When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him. David and 400 of his warriors thundered through the countryside in search of Nabal, a prosperous brute who had harshly refused to lend them help. David would have murdered him if he hadn’t first encountered Abigail, Nabal’s wife. She had packed up enough food to feed an army and traveled out to meet the troops, hoping to head off disaster. She respectfully reminded David that guilt would haunt him if he followed through with his vengeful plan (1 Sam. 25:31). David realized she was right and blessed her for her good judgment. David’s anger was legitimate—he had protected Nabal’s shepherds in the wilderness (vv.14-17) and had been repaid evil for good. However, his anger was leading him into sin. David’s first instinct was to sink his sword into Nabal, even though he knew God did not approve of murder and revenge (Ex. 20:13; Lev. 19:18). When we’ve been offended, it’s good to compare our instincts with God’s intent for human behavior. We may be inclined to strike at people verbally, isolate ourselves, or escape through any number of ways. However, choosing a gracious response will help us avoid regret, and most important it will please God. When our desire is to honor God in our relationships, He is able to make even our enemies to be at peace with us (see Prov. 16:7). Lord, thank You for holding back Your anger and having mercy on me. Help me to walk in step with Your Spirit so that my actions please You in every situation. We can endure life’s wrongs because we know that God will make things right. |

Hypnosis is real. |
A guy confided in me through nairaland that i should post this article. Why are most girls so so confused ![]() The discombobulation is upgrading by the day REALLY,i now believe they really have fishbrain!!! some days ago,a girl posted on nairaland seeking for advice if she should sever her relationship citing reasons that her fiance slapped her and refused to pay for her hospital bill sometime, matured nairalanders slammed her for witholding the composition of the story. The guy who is a nairalander was shocked by the naivety of her fiance Narrates: "i met my fiancee on 2011 but we started dating on 2014.she was full of games, pretenses and surprises, you never know what she might come up with at the toss of a coin, but i hanged on,She came at odd time and was asking of 40k. Giving reasons of unfinished school clearances, due to phone calls bombarding her line,i suspected voodoo scam,to cut the story short,i slapped her once just as my best friend advised me ,i regretted the ordeal and apologised,Before this incident her behaviour changed for the worse, i realised one of the scammers was having canal knowledge of her so i moved on,two weeks letter she left my town and gave me a call apologising that we should get back on again,so she visited and confessed the whole situation how she was hypnotised (mind you,it can happen to anyone)and etc justifying my intuitions and actions.I will not go into her private life,We had on and off relationship due to distance. This year we started talking again and i was assessing her to see the things i can change about her and marry her,and she can be bent or so i believed. (there is nothing like a dream spouse,it does not exist.)She was doing her service in the state and was planning to visit on the last week of march, i gave reasons of my new found faith which she accepted so the visit was annulled, now we are planning to get married soon and i want to accelerate it by introducing ourselves to the family in june which she was aware. If she chose to come to nairaland for advice, then she still has some work to do.Now am really thinking the search is not over yet!" Moral of the story: its not fair to judge without hearing the second part of the story, kudos to the men of nairaland who smelt burnt chimney smoke and gave technically matured advice. Summary: A girl was charmed by scammers and was slapped by her fiancee probably to reset her and she brands him a potential wife beater,i noticed some mixed receptions about this story, the true motive of this counter thread is to eradicate completely the way we address issues on nairaland,if you go through the story, you'll notice the similarities between the two stories, she was seeking advice, but he was trying to clarify the hidden events that unfolded that led to the slap.He wasn't seeking for advice,a random girl would come on nairaland for advice and the gullible minds would not question the authenticity of the story.Bear this hard truth in mind,NEVER JUDGE IN A RUSH.. |
