EazyMoh:Do you know what a misplaced priority is? If production increases and all of Kano produces in million tonnes, how would they transport their goods and wares to consumers that need them in various parts of the State or other parts of Nigeria? Will they put it on their heads? Or you think that road transport is preferable to rail transport in such instances? When we criticize, let's be sure it is based on facts and logic- only then will our criticisms achieve the their purpose and cause needed progressive changes. If every corresponding kobo of that $1.85b contract is spent as intended (and a big if), it would have been money well spent, and both the State and Nigeria will be the better for it. But to say such a developmental project that has the potential to revolutionalize the economic fortunes of the State is a misplaced project is in deed, a misplaced statement! |

robosky02:Great people they both are. God bless your home Pastor Kola and Aanu. |
bookspen:That was a picture of a man and his sick child in the shower. The man was calming his sick baby. I read about the picture on uk guardian or so some months ago. The picture was taken and uploaded by the man's wife. Some felt it was sensual and inappropriate. But opinionated people should also remember that the woman was also entitled to her opinion especially at such time of great pain and unease in her family. |
Noloss:May God provide him a new and fulfilling job soon. |
chumakk:I usually don't comment on threads but the ignorance and insensitivity displayed by your post were too much to ignore. To clear your ignorance, first, Obama did not build the house- no where in that article said he did- you should read the piece again. Second, after leaving office, a presidential library is to be built that would be dedicated to the Obama years in office. Talks have been on (for over a year now) on where that would be located. Some say Chicago is in the running to be selected. Next time, be sure before you rush to type, lest you type and show others the depth of your knowledge. The poo you typed did show how little you knew about the subject matter. You wrongly concluded and then went on to insult not just Obama, but all black people. That's called stereotype or prejudice. |
FelasShirt:Thank you. It's done. The rich merchant appears better. It's been added. |
FelasShirt:Thank you for the concise review. Your kind words are like drops of cold water on a hot, tasking afternoon.. The observations are well noted. Thank you. On why I chose to liken death to a merchant who does not pay its debts- In the poem, I considered death as a merchant, a skilled trader, and usually traders borrow to do business. Continuous cycles of borrowing and paying back keep everyone in business- the lender and the borrower, thus, the business is kept going. But in death's case (the subject of the poem), although death is a well established merchant, a rich one at that (considering how many people it has over the millennial years borrowed from the various clans), it still refuses to pay back what it owes. Perhaps I should have qualified so that is, "the rich merchant" rather than merely "the merchant". What do you think? |
faites:Thank you very much for your kind words. |
By Kunlere Idowu *** 1. It always comes to borrow from the clans Men, women, girls and boys But never with the hope of first returning what it owes The rich merchant that never pays back its debts Yes, death, like a swirling wind, can keep secrets within its bosom, But for every secret it keeps safe in its vaults It also keeps tucked away, forever, A thousand stars underneath curtains of fiery dark clouds. *** 2. I have said it many times, The thing that hurts most is not death itself But the finality of its betrayals, And the finality of the blows It drives through the hearts of its victims Tricking them into long sleeps as they take arcadian strolls Beyond the boundaries of time Into the bottomless pit of eternity. *** 3. For whatever death takes, it takes forever Without looking back, Without returning to mourn those whose flames it quenched Without returning to mourn with families whose loved ones it snatched Shame on you death, The rich merchant that never pays back its debt. *** Dedication: To everyone who has ever lost a dear one.

Jazmiynne:Thank you. It is done. I guess it was the network ish that caused the delay before. |
jazinogold:when you submitted on the site, did you get any notification? I have been trying to submit but I am not sure it has submitted! How does one know the application has been successfully submitted? |

Former Nigerian boxer Francis Aiyegbeni (no, not former Nigerian football star, Yakubu Aiyegbeni) is dead! He was said to have passed away on Saturday May 7, at the University College Hospital, in Ibadan. It was however disclosed that the hospitality mogul, who owned D’ Rovans hotel as well as Walan hotel had been struggling with partial stroke, as he suffered a crisis on Friday before being taken to the hospital. Confirming the sad development, the secretary general of the Nigerian Boxing Board of Control (NBB of C) Remi Aboderin said Nigeria has lost a great personality, adding that the boxing family will miss Ayegbeni a lot. May God grant his soul and comfort his bereaved family. More details at: https://www.naij.com/823446-former-nigerian-star-aiyegbeni-dies.html |
Sheggy13:Yes it is working. |
Sheggy13:Thanks so much, it is done. I used the other IMEI and internet.ng.zain.com. Hope that's fine? |
Sheggy13:The one I did for a friend changed to a new IMEI, 356760051165297, but still it didn't work. What do you I do next? |
Sheggy13:Good pm people. I did over sabi on a friend's phone. The phone was on an Android subscription before. But I managed to successively change the IMEI to a bb q10 and the APN to blackberry.com, then subscribed for a new 1k for 3GB bundle but the Airtel sim wouldn't work. What could the problem be? And how can I fix it? Thanks |
For some days now, the Nigerian social media has been awash with stories of Tiwa Savage and her crumbling pack of marriage cards. But Tiwa and her estranged husband are only humans after all. Again and again, humans make mistakes that hurt other humans. Could the breaking story of the falling apart of Tiwa's ill-fated marriage be a reflection of the larger society? Perhaps there are lessons for us all to learn. Please, come with me. *** In 2014, Alt-Lit icon and magazine editor, Stephen Tully Dierks who had been prominent in the hip young "Alt-Lit" community and Alt-Lit's most famous author, Tao Lin, were separately accused of rape- those allegations took their toll, not just on their careers but also on their lives. Coming home, a Mobil Staff was recently accused of rape and indecent assault. He has since been arraigned in court not long afterwards. The other day, a writer and author with some beautiful works to his name was accused of raping a vulnerable lady. His alibi? The writer's weakness. What the heck that is, you might ask? *** Well, one may be quick to say that such cases are common with celebrities and those in the show business. That would jumping to easy conclusions, a fallacy of hasty conclusions. No, not so fast. Such errors of judgement are common across different professions. *** In the academic world, there have been cases of indiscretion on the part of University professors and erudite scholars. And by the way, doctors do not necessarily have better homes than actors, nor bankers than lawyers. It is not the profession that you belong that really matters, what makes or mars you is how you carry yourself, your decisions, your vulnerabilities, your sense of judgement or ill-judgment. *** Research or academic career or many other might not be as drowning in image-laundering as show biz but fact is, everyone is vulnerable. Even scientists, and the noblest of men often make bad choices that leave them vulnerable, sad and broken. *** Whilst Tiwa and Teebillz navigate through their stormy waters (and we do hope that they would soon reach a solid agreement/settlement that's in their both interests and their innocent, handsome boy's, Jamil), please do not be a judge in a matter that does not concern you from Adam, do not be fixated on finding who was right or wrong especially since you do not have all the information on what has truly been happening between them. Rather, be concerned about your own choices, about cravings you indulge in that could lead you down the same path. Don't be obsessed about Tiwa and Teebillz, be obsessed about your own little margin of error that narrows even slimmer every day, like a stuttering gush of yellow light. *** Cry not forever for Tiwa, nor all week long for Teebillz. Cry for yourselves oh Nigerians, lest others weep for you. Save your tears, weep for yourself oh Land. *** Our prayers are with Tiwa Savage and Teebillz. May this storm pass soon, one way or the other... A toast to a brighter future. .... ID

peekeny:Quite funny the topic attracted no comment since it was posted. You might want to consider Pharmaceutical Microbiology... |
TastyTuoyo:May God have mercy on you. And may God protect the President and grant him safe return from this and other journeys and also success as he seeks to refocus the ship of country to greatness. True, the country is tough at the moment, but things will get better, soon. Meanwhile, the President needs your support, not curses. |
Jengbetiele:Wow. Thank God for your life. May God heal all those wounded in the accident and give the families of those that might died the fortitude to bear the loss. Congrats on your success at the interview. God grants you the best job there is and a career beyond your imaginations. And by the way, thank you for that wonderful last paragraph. |
JOOHEL:Can you do a post mortem before buying its corpse so that you can rightly ascertain the cause of death rather than guesswork? I am afraid if it is anthrax, you could be at risk too, hence, the need for proper precautions. Sorry on your loss. |

No nation progresses beyond the quality of its civil service. In fact, a nation's civil service is a reflection of its values (and sometimes, its level of development). Great nations have well run, highly skilled, effective and professional public services. Poor nations have weak, low skilled, poorly managed but highly political public services. All the talk of change will prove futile without a formidable civil service to help actualize the vision of the government of the day. Going forward, what kind Civil Service does Nigeria really need? One where: - The ticket to your next pay or your fate on the job is what you add to the team and not where you come from or who you know. - The Board is a real supervising board, and the management is steady and foreright, not a band of stooges, not rubber stamp lackeys of the DG or the Chief Executive. - Workers would earn their salaries based on what they contribute to the system rather wait for some father Christmas to deliver to them their share of the national cake at the end of the month. - No Governor, PM, DG or Chairman would pay N10million worth of salaries monthly but will not provide a mere N200,000 needed for logistics to get the work done and keep workers productive. - Workers are exposed to conducive working environments, the right tools, training and re-training and an unwavering application of international best practices. - Every worker in every government establishment has a clearly spelt out job description. - Where every Naira made or spent is justified and accounted for. |
The headline itself is somewhat misleading. Most people will misinterpret this statement credited to Alhaji Lai Mohammed- perhaps because of the disposition of the speaker and his previous gaffes. But on this, one might think he meant well. In a liberal economy, government's business is not really to employ people, but to create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive which then allows the private sector to drive employment creation. The question for Mr. Lai Mohammed, how and when will the enabling environment be created? What's the plan? It's nine months already! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2XmGVHjKHs |
Well, this man somewhat looks like a brother to one of the most popular Nigerian politicians on Twitter, "commonsense" Senator Ben Murray Bruce! I stumbled on him on an interview on CCTV News earlier today. Abi na my eye?

HungerBAD:That's a warped assumption. Why do you think ladies (not least Jumoke) must sleep around to make it to the top? Change that thinking, abeg. |
NobleAngell:You must be a very no-nonsense person in real life. Haba, you no even pity that guy... lol.. Well I couldn't help laughing too when I read that funny comment from him that he knew everything that happens was from God. So much for religion that you clouds the mind! |
