201320142015ob: I often tell people that life is not a Nollywood movie.
Bad things do not always happened to bad people and good people do not always end up happiest.
I learnt this earlier in life. The best students in my primary and secondary schools are not the most highly achieving today. Most of them didn’t even end up with first class in the University.
Even the first class students in most Universities do not end up the most successful.
Academic success is a little too overrated.
Mark Zuckerberg dropped out of Harvard to establish Facebook and he became the 5th richest man on earth. He is still in his 30s. Although he went back years later to tidy up.
Bill Gates also dropped out and he is the richest man on earth.
Virgins do sometimes end up marrying crazy philandering men, while some prostitutes do end up marrying men who worship them.
I’ve seen a woman who had several abortions but ended up having children in marriage when she was ready, while some virgins suffer fertility issues.
I’ve made up my mind to take calculated risks in life, and do what works for me. There’s really no almighty formula to success in life. If you see any opportunity, take it. As long as you aren’t making illegal moves and you aren’t hurting anyone in the process, go for it. |

Crime › Re: NDLEA Impounds 159 Million Tablets Of Tramadol by highbee02: 3:29pm On Mar 27, 2018 |
EdificationBoss: The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Monday said it had seized 159 million tablets of Tramadol at Apapa Port in Lagos.
https://newshelm.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/NDLEA-ops.jpg Director, Technical Services of the agency, Mr Femi Oloruntoba, made this known at a public hearing organised by the Senate Joint Committee on Drugs and Narcotics and Health in Abuja.
Tramadol is a narcotic-like pain reliever used to treat or moderate severe pain.
The public hearing was based on a motion entitled “The Need to Check the Rising Menace of Pharmaceutical Drugs Abuse among Youths in Nigeria”.
Oloruntoba revealed that 50 tonnes of Tramadol was recently destroyed in Kano alone.
He said there were laws guiding the use of controlled drugs like Tramadol and Cocaine and what was needed was enforcement of the laws.
“In 2016, about 31 different substances were abused in Nigeria,” he said.
The director noted that drug was on in the exclusive legislative list and should not be taken to the concurrent, adding that if that was done otherwise, there would be a huge anarchy.
He lamented that only the Federal High Court had jurisdiction to try drug cases, describing it as “a challenge”.
He said that because the cases could not be prosecuted in magistrate court, most of the time the Federal High Court was choked and a lot of cases not moving,” he said.
Oloruntoba, therefore, called on the Federal Government to increase the number of judges in the federal high court to try cases of drug abuse.
In his submission, President, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Ahmed Yakasai, called for the drafting of a prescription policy to curb drug abuse menace.
“We are trying to see where we have prescription policy. If we have this prescription policy, we will know who is doing what,” he said.
Yakasai, who said that Nigeria’s borders were porous, decried existing situation which forbids National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), was not allowed access into the ports.
On his part, Director-General of the agency, Prof. Christiana Adeyeye, said the agency lacked adequate manpower for frequent visitation to pharmaceutical companies.
Represented by Dr Umar Musa, Director, Narcotics and Controlled Substances, Adeyeye said drug problem was a genuine crisis that required collective efforts to tackle.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Senate Committee, Sen. Joshua Lidani, said the use of illicit drugs, trafficking and other pharmaceutical drugs abuse, particularly among women and youth, was worrisome and was increasing by the day.
“This calls for concern and urgent action to stem the tide.
“It behooves stakeholders to strengthen and redouble our efforts to tame it, and where possible, strengthen the capacity of agencies charged with the responsibility of enforcing relevant laws to enable them discharge their responsibilities effectively.” (NAN)

Nairaland General › Re: 7 Things Every Man Must Know Before He Clocks 40 by highbee02: 1:13pm On Mar 27, 2018 |
daewoorazer: Few days ago, I stressed out some important 7 things every man must know before he clocks 30. Wouldn't it be selfish to end it there?
The link is below should you have missed it.
https://www.nairaland.com/4416982/7-things-every-man-must
This article points out every thing men need to know before becoming a quadragenarian.
1. It is the Beginning of the rest of your life.
According to the latest WHO data published in 2015, life expectancy in Nigeria is: Male 53.4.
http://www.worldlifeexpectancy.com/nigeria-life-expectancy
It’s safe to say it’s the start of the remaining half. By this time you should draw a map of how you want your retirement to be.
2. Have a business alongside job:
It doesn’t matter if you work as the CEO of Chevron Nig., your business is your physical, financial and intellectual property. You’d retire from government/public job someday but your business is your legacy. One you can fix your children into her board of directors when old age sets in. Learn from Baba Davido.
3. Write your will:
Yes, your will. I’m not wishing you dead neither am I wishing you bad. It doesn’t matter if your life savings is 1 naira, get yourself a good and affordable lawyer and pen it down.
4. Be close to your kids:
At this age, your kids are probably under 10. The love you show them at this age range goes a long way. If you ain’t close to them at this age, it doesn’t matter if you pamper/babysit them for the rest of their lives, they might hate you.
5. Retire from youthful exuberance:
you should be a father by now. If you still sag your pants at this age, or probably still keep 2-5 girlfriends, I’m afraid........
6. Join a social club:
I don’t mean clubs like quilox nor places to drink yourself to stupor. There are clubs where responsible adults meet to play golf, swim and socialize. This gathering is a form of security for you and your wards. Good clubs as such protect their members when sacked from work, solve problems for their members and extend these services to their wards after the demise of their members. Such a good club have members representing all professions in Life; you’d find doctors, military officials, lecturers, motor dealers, engineers etc. It should be a club you can always call on a member colonel to put your son who is passionate about military through. It should also be a club you can easily get a member SAN/lawyer to help you do your legal sturvz. NEVER a place to practice occult activities. If you still don’t get the picture by now, I’m afraid...
7. Know your medical menace:
At this age you should have an idea if you are tending towards diabetes or obesity. Your knowledge of this will keep you abreast of possible old age menace. Don’t wait until you start seeing ants waiting with straws to gulp down your urine before you realize you have a family history of diabetes. It’d be too late sir!
Once again, It is the beginning of the rest of your life, it is your call, even though you are a billionaire, to live it like RMD or a vegetable. The ball is in your court.

Car Talk › Re: Here Are Common CVT Transmission Problems In Honda by highbee02: 9:10am On Mar 22, 2018 |
AutoReportNG: Apart from Toyota, Honda remains one of the most popular cars in Nigeria, this is due to its affordability, maintenance and its spare parts are easy to find. Using a Honda car has its ups and downs, some have sworn never to buy anything Honda while some can't drive a car that is not this brand, different specs for different folks. Honda cars released during 1999-2004, usually face transmission issues. Car models such as Accord, Civic, and Odyssey are the worst example of Honda CVT transmission problems. Because of CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission), a car may stop working properly. If you find that car jerks while accelerating, it is a sign of transmission issue.
What Causes the Honda CVT Transmission Problems?
CVT is an automatic car transmission system using a belt and pulley for an unrestricted range of gear ratio. It is the part of a car that turns engine rotations into torque; allowing one to drive at variable speeds.
However, if the engine turns on, the car still won’t shift into gear; resulting in a faulty torque converter. In most of the Honda cars, the torque converter is worsening with the leaking and burning transmission fluid.
The Honda CVT transmission problems are quite difficult and expensive to solve. So, it’s better to follow a few maintenance tips at the initial stage. Regular checking at your parking spot for transmission leaks can work precisely to mark the issues. And for the more complicated problems taking the car to a professional service station will be a right thing to do.
Honda Problems Associated with a Continuously Variable Transmission
CVT is the system of improved acceleration and enhanced fuel economy but people still doubt its efficiency.
Here is the list of some Honda CVT Transmission Problems:
1. Irritating Noise
The cars with this system generate noise during initial acceleration. This noise is produced because CVT tries to adjust the engine speed. Such noises can be irritating, specifically when the noise is compared to the sound of slipping clutch comes from a manual transmission.
So, if you are used to driving a car with an automatic transmission, you may find a little trouble!
2. Jerky Movement
The cars with continuously variable transmission are supposed to offer a smooth transition while accessing utmost power. However, there has been a problem of jerky movement during initial acceleration.
Moreover, people also complain about the rattling noises during slow speed. Some issues of abrupt movement in starting system or engine have also been noticed. Besides this, if the car’s fuel efficiency has decreased, this is a clear sign of transmission problem.
3. They Are Not Pocket-Friendly
The drivers who have driven cars with a manual or an automatic transmission usually find difficulty if they switch to a car with this system. For them buying a vehicle with CVT is a more expensive deal in comparison to other transmission systems.
4. No Change in Gear Shift
The cars with CVT system don’t give the feel of any gear shifts like the automatic transmission vehicle. In other words, you don’t feel a change in the engine speed when shifting gears.
This is because paddle shifts are incorporated in vehicles with CVT system to simulate gear changes. Consequently, the paddle shifter allows transmitting electronic signals to the clutch, which causes gear shift. This is exactly what happens in an automatic transmission engine.

Education › Re: WAEC Is Confused – MURIC, Reveals What Timetable Can Cause In Nigeria by highbee02: 7:03pm On Mar 19, 2018 |
2Ebisco: A religious group, the Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC, on Monday described the 2018 examinations timetable recently released by the West African Examinations Council, WAEC, as volatile, warning that the timetable is capable of causing a disturbance of public peace if it erodes the Jumat period.
WAEC recently scheduled Chemistry for 2 pm to 4 pm on Friday April 20, 2018. But following criticisms from MURIC, the subject was moved backwards to Tuesday April 10, 2018. However, ceramics (Essay) and Forestry (Essay) will now be held on Friday April 20, 2018 from 2 pm to 4 pm.
While stressing that Muslims all over the world attend Jumat prayer in their mosques from 1 – 2.30 pm on Fridays, MURIC, in a statement by its Director, Prof. Ishaq Akintola, pointed out that educational institutions and offices often leave a two-hour window (from 1 to 3 pm) for the faithful to go and worship.
The Director of Public Affairs, WAEC Nigeria, Mr. Demianus Ojijeogu had confirmed the slight amendment, stating that “For the sake of the people who will go to the mosque, the exam will be delayed till they come back. The paper will be delayed till 2:30 pm or 3 pm, when the Muslims will return from the mosque”.
But MURIC is not satisfied with Ojijeogu’s explanation, maintaining that it is not convincing enough, and “leaves Muslim candidates at the mercy of WAEC’s ad hoc staff, invigilators and supervisors, some of whom can be overzealous Muslim-haters”.
Akintola said in the statement; “Even if it is true, this amendment still needs clarification from WAEC. For instance, we need to know whether or not some Muslim candidates take these two subjects (Ceramics and Forestry). Yet this may not be the end of our inquiry even if no Muslim candidate has registered for the subjects this year because some Muslim candidates are likely to show interest in them in the near future.
“The ideal thing for WAEC to do, therefore, is to steer clear completely from scheduling any examination during the Jumat period. There is no need to stereotype Muslims and the subjects they are likely to take. Knowledge is a universal thing and candidates are not likely to consider religion as a factor when choosing their subjects.
“The Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC, was shocked by the first timetable released by WAEC. It was unfair, tyrannical and provocative. It was equally myopic, thoughtless and parochial. This ‘amended’ version presupposes that WAEC is confused.
“We were shocked because issues like this had been trashed out with WAEC before. For WAEC to have tried this again, we strongly suspect that the regional examination body is suffering from chronic administrative amnesia.
“WAEC appears confused because there are three other clashes on the ‘amended’ timetable which WAEC did not address at all. Social Studies (Objective) is slated for 1 – 1.50 pm on Friday 4th May, 2018 while Electronics (Objective) is also billed to take place between 1 and 3 pm on Friday 11th May, 2018. Woodwork is equally scheduled for the same day from 12 – 3 pm. So how do we reconcile all these? WAEC is out to slay Muslim candidates.
“Placed pari passu with the ‘amended’ timetable, it is clear that WAEC’s spokesperson seeks to deceive Muslim candidates. He is leading them into a trap. If indeed the timetable has been amended and Chemistry has been moved to morning period on Tuesday 10th April, 2018, why would there be any need for “the exam would be delayed till they come back” since it would no longer be taken on a Friday.
“WAEC spokesperson also spoke of the paper being delayed till “…2.30 pm or 3 pm”. This is supposed to be a policy matter. Is he not so sure? Which one should WAEC ad hoc officials operate? 2.30 pm deadline or 3 pm? WAEC is speaking from both sides of its mouth.
“We recall our press statement dated 26th August, 2015 under the caption “WAEC Examination Timetable is an Invitation to Chaos”. That press statement was issued three years ago when WAEC fixed three different subjects between the hours of 1pm and 3 pm on three consecutive Fridays running from 11th, 18th, and 25th September of that year. MURIC cried foul and WAEC later adjusted its timetable.
“So what has changed since then? Does WAEC intend to bring examination materials to its Muslim candidates in the mosque? Is WAEC asking Muslim candidates to choose between worshipping and their examination just as some religious bigots told Muslim students in the past? Is this not an attempt by WAEC to jeopardize the interest and future of Muslim candidates? Is this also not a deliberate attempt to ease out Muslims from vital degree courses like medicine, pharmacy, nursing, etc?
“Once is happenstance, twice is a coincidence but the third time is enemy action. The 2015 incident was not the first time. Is WAEC targeting Muslim candidates for destabilization? It appears the only language WAEC understands is force. Although Muslims will not resort to the use of force, we will resist WAEC’s illegal, unlawful, illegitimate and unconstitutional manipulation of its timetable to deprive Muslim candidates of their Allah-given fundamental right to worship as enshrined in Section 38 (i) & (ii) of the 2011 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended. Any WAEC timetable which trespasses into the Jumat period (12 – 3 pm on Friday) is therefore ultra vires, null and void.
“By this press statement, we are notifying the Federal Ministry of Education of the volatile nature of WAEC’s timetable. It is capable of causing a disturbance of public peace if it erodes the Jumat period. Nigeria has witnessed enough religious riots and the Ministry must call WAEC to order.
“WAEC’s regional status notwithstanding, the Ministry of Education owes it a duty to ensure that no educational exercise capable of stirring civil disturbance is allowed to take place under its watch. The Ministry of Education should have an input in an exercise of this magnitude. In view of the fact that WAEC keeps repeating the same irritating and illegal time table year after year, we suggest that from now on, WAEC time tables should be scrutinized by the ministry of education to ensure that nothing unlawful creeps into it.
“Muslim candidates and their parents will be left with no choice than to mobilize to WAEC examination centers in peaceful protest if this complaint is ignored.
“We demand a WAEC timetable that leaves the 12 – 3 pm window which Muslims need for Jumat service untouched. An ideal examination timetable for Friday will therefore be 9 am to 12 noon and 3.30 – 6 pm. In fact, heaven will not fall if examinations are limited to morning period on Fridays.
“The WAEC timetable imbroglio has once again brought the Friday Question to focus. We have no iota of doubt that WAEC will have no audacity to fix an examination during the Jumat period if Friday is free like Sunday. Or should we simply ask WAEC to fix one subject for the Jumat period and another one on Sunday morning from 9 am to 12 noon, at least for parity? How does that sound? Who feels it knows it. WAEC should stop oppressing Muslims. All we are saying is: Give Us Jumat period. Respect Allah, our Creator, even if you don’t respect us.
“WAEC is pursuing an aggressive anti-Islam policy. Fixing examinations during Jumat service gives non-Muslims undue advantage over Muslims. This is discriminatory and unjust. WAEC has lost its soul.
“To round up, we charge the Federal Ministry of Education to call WAEC to order. We advise WAEC authorities to consult widely when fixing its timetable because no public institution is an island, entire of itself. WAEC should note that the Jumat period (12 – 3 pm) is not negotiable for any subject. We urge Muslims to remain calm, to eschew violence but to be alert and watchful. Eternal vigilance is the price of freedom.”

TheDevilIsALai: What facts?
Secondary Schools in Nigeria operate from 7AM to 2:30PM Mondays to Fridays.
Why hasn't MUCRIC challenged Ministry of Education to have Friday schooling hours to be shortened from 7 -12pm ? Schools usually close by 1:00pm on Fridays simply because of Juma'at and during Ramadan |

Yoclan: Story: WHAT YOU SOW IS WHAT YOU REAP. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
A couple had only one son. And the son worked really had and got a scholarship, he traveled; studied, became prosperous and acquired wealth.
He has been away for 10years. So one day, he decides to come home to pay a 'surprise' visit to his parents. He informed nobody that he was coming home.
So that day, he arrived the village at night, and went to their door. It was a bit dark; he knocked, Dady and Mummy opened the door. He has disguised his voice, his face and everything so that they won't recognise him (He wanted to surprise them).
He said, *"You see, em em.... I am just coming to town, but its late now, is dark, just give me a place to sleep , by tomorrow morning I will go to where am going, I want to go......"* When they [the parents] looked at him and saw what he was carrying, it enters into their eyes and heart. They said *"OK!! You are leaving tomorrow morning....come in "*. With their candle light, they lead him in and he slept
The couple planned, at night saying one to another *" Is this not the end of our poverty? Somebody has brought wealth here. Do we allow this boy [the stranger] to go away like that?....."*
They took a decision to kill him, so Daddy held the knife while Mummy held the hands and they trust (kill) him through with the knife; he died. They quickly parked him and threw him into the forest at the back.
In the morning, fellow villagers were coming to their house, each one saying *"Welcome, we greet you, congratulations!!! We saw your son yesterday , he has finally come back home, we came to welcome him."*
==> These conversation took pace:
Daddy: *"Son? My son? You mean my son came back ?"*
Villager1: *"Yes.., your son was here yesterday, we saw him going to your house "* Villager 2 : *"Of course , we saw him yesterday night"*
They [Daddy and Mummy] now went back to the bush to look properly , then, they found out that they had killed their only son.
*Lesson:* Whenever Sin is on The Driving Sit, Shame is Sitting at the Back. So your worst enemy is not really witches and wizards. Your worst enemy is your sinful heart .
Do you like stories?? Let me know, I will surely Post more....

NwaAmaikpe:

This is arrant nonsense. Absolute fvckery and ridiculous fanaticism. MURIC should as well force airlines to postpone or cancel Friday flights so that passengers can attend Ju'maat.
Its a shame that WAEC succumbed to the subtle Islamization ploy.
How many WAEC candidates observe Ju'maat? Why should a student in school even want to leave school to attend Ju'maat? Let alone a student who has exams.
In saner climes, WAEC would be sued to court for altering timetables for a reason as flimsy as this.
With the way the country is tilting, very soon Fridays will be declared a work-free day and it will be considered an offence if the rule is flouted.
MURIC should get one fact clear; Nigeria is a secular state and will always remain one!!! Friday is a weekday and exams can hold on any day of the week (except Sunday which is globally considered the Sabbath day.) Very soon, Nigeria will change from Gregorian calendar. Sunday is a sabbath day for d Christian while Friday should b made work free day for d Muslim across d globe |

Politics › Re: Nigeria Is Sick And Empty, A laughing stock- Wole Soyinka by highbee02: 9:28pm On Mar 15, 2018 |
mexxmoney: Renowned Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka has described Nigeria as sick and empty, deserving of the term “shithole” as described by United States President, Donald Trump.
Soyinka said this while speaking at the Ripples Nigerian Dialogue titled “Rebuilding trust in a Divided Nigeria,” held at The Wheatbaker Hotel in Ikoyi, Lagos.
“We have become laughing stocks in the eyes of the public.
“We have earned the term of shithole. Nigeria is sick and empty. Some retrogressive forces won’t just stop. Everything Nigeria touches rusts.”
He condemned the humiliation of Nigerians by military personnel, stating that the humiliation of Nigerians led him to relocating abroad.
“The treatment of Nigerians by the military led me to relocating to a saner clime. I remember invading Obasanjo’s residence in Lagos and challenging him concerning the way Nigerians were being treated. It is a disgrace to us, as a nation. We have been left behind in nearly every field.
“There are lessons to be learnt from the diaspora. We need to peep across the Atlantic to see how other countries have been faring,” Soyinka said.
Drawing illustrations from his lecture titled “From Miyetti to Haiti: Notes from a Solidarity Visit,” Soyinka emphasized the need to end slavery in our society.
Soyinka emphasized the need of looking in the mirror to solve Nigerian problems and encouraged youths to resist the passage of the Hate Speech bill.
The round table featured Soyinka, Professor Pat Utomi, represented by Mr Rasheed Adegbenro, Ex Governor Peter Obi and Dr. (Mrs) Abiola Akiyode-Afolabi.
The session was moderated by former Presidential spokesman Reuben Abati.

Health › Re: About Vitiligo by highbee02: 7:37pm On Mar 15, 2018 |
labake1: *VITILIGO* Vitiligo is a disease in which the pigment cells of the skin, melanocytes, are destroyed in certain areas. Symptoms and signs of vitiligo include loss of skin color in the form of depigmented, or white, patches of skin in any location on the body. Vitiligo can be focal and localized to one area, or it may affect several different areas on the body. The exact cause of vitiligo is unknown, although most experts believe that it is an autoimmune condition in which the body's immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys certain cells within the body. Most people who have vitiligo will develop the condition prior to age 40; about half develop it before age 20.Vitiligo may have a genetic component, as the condition tends to run in families.Vitiligo is sometimes associated with other medical conditions, including thyroid dysfunction. There is no way to determine if vitiligo will spread or remain confined to one location. Vitiligo is not painful and does not have significant health consequences; however, it can have emotional and psychological consequences. Some medical treatments can reduce the severity of the condition, but it can be difficult to cure. There is no known way to prevent vitiligo. There are no proven home remedies to cure vitiligo, but the use of sunscreens as well as makeup or dyes to cover the light areas of skin may improve appearance. *What is vitiligo?* Vitiligo is a disorder in which white patches of skin appear on different parts of the body. This happens because the cells that make pigment (color) in the skin are destroyed. These cells are called melanocytes (ma-LAN-o-sites). Vitiligo can also affect the mucous membranes (such as the tissue inside the mouth and nose) and the eye. *What causes vitiligo?* The cause is not known. Vitiligo may be an autoimmune disease. These diseases happen when your immune system mistakenly attacks some part of your own body. In vitiligo, the immune system may destroy the melanocytes in the skin. It is also possible that one or more genes may make a person more likely to get the disorder. Some researchers think that the melanocytes destroy themselves. Others think that a single event such as sunburn or emotional distress can cause vitiligo. But these events have not been proven to cause vitiligo. *Who is affected by vitiligo?* Many people develop it in their twenties, but it can occur at any age. The disorder affects all races and both sexes equally, however, it is more noticeable in people with dark skin.People with certain autoimmune diseases (such as hyperthyroidism) are more likely to get vitiligo than people who don't have any autoimmune diseases. Scientists do not know why vitiligo is connected with these diseases. However, most people with vitiligo have no other autoimmune disease. Vitiligo may also run in families. Children whose parents have the disorder are more likely to develop vitiligo. However, most children will not get vitiligo even if a parent has it. |
