Education / Re: Returning Certificate To LAUTECH Not Social Media Stunt – Jobless Graduate by highbee02: 11:41am On Sep 10, 2022
After all, the purpose of going to school is to be able to survive, by working with the certificate and making money.

The sole aim of going to school is to become a functional member of the society, not only to put food on your table. Your certificate/education is not a waste, making comedy skits while in school is one of the inbuilt potentials unfolded in school.

May Almighty God see u and other jobless Nigerian graduates through. I feel your pains
Education / Student Begins ‘ASUU Strike Pos’ Says Dreams Shattered by highbee02: 11:21am On Sep 10, 2022
Date: 2022-09-09

Amid the lingering strike action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities which has lasted seven months, a 200-level student of the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, Usman Opeyemi, has begun a Point of Sale business, which he named ‘ASUU strike PoS.’

Opeyemi, a student of History and International Studies, who spoke in an interview with The PUNCH, Thursday, said he began the business when the strike action of ASUU appeared to have dashed hopes.

Sharing the picture of himself sitting at his shop, he had tweeted on Tuesday, “I don open business ooo, courtesy of ASUU strike.”

When asked what was the brain behind it, he said, “It’s just this strike; when you have your hope dashed, you have all your plans shattered. The inspiration just came that I should do something considering the kind of environment we are.”

When asked if the strike was traumatising for him, Opeyemi replied affirmatively, “Honestly! Because I initially applied for Law at the university, I wasn’t given, so I was of the opinion that let me quickly run this International Relations course and come back for law as a second degree.”

“But, with this strike now, that may not be possible considering the economic situation of the country. Some parts of our dreams have been shattered,” he told The PUNCH.

Opeyemi, who said he had been trying to fend for himself for a while now, added, “I left home since 2020, being on my own.”

He said the PoS business was thriving. “Yes, it actually pays. People are coming especially when they see the name. They’re wowed and say: ‘Oh that ASUU boy, let’s patronise him,” he said.

“I will advise that we should just make the best of the moment, utilise it well so we won’t lose at the end,” he urged other colleagues affected by the strike.

He noted that the students were the ones at the receiving end, adding that by the time strike would be called off, lecturers would be paid and government would continue their work too.

The PUNCH reports that ASUU began its strike February 14, with hopes still dashed on resumption for many students as both the Federal Government and the striking lecturers are yet to reach a consensus.

Crime / Kwara policemen brutalise UNILORIN undergraduate, victim hospitalised by highbee02: 9:27am On Sep 08, 2022
Men of the F-Division Police Station of the Kwara State Police Command have been accused of brutalising a Liberian international student of the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, Theophilus Blamoh, in Oke-Odo, in the Ilorin area of the state.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the 200 level student of Performing Arts, University of Ilorin, alongside his colleagues, were on their way to buy some food items when the policemen accosted them and ordered them to enter their patrol vehicle.

Blamoh, who spoke to our correspondent on Wednesday, said after entering the vehicle, the policemen collected their phones and started checking for incriminating evidence but to no avail.

The international student said they were in the vehicle when one of the policemen allegedly punched his face, stomach and limbs, adding that he became weak during the assault.

He said, “When the policemen did not find any incriminating evidence on our phone, they started asking why we are not doing ‘yahoo yahoo.’ They spoke in Yoruba language and I didn’t understand but kept pleading with my colleague to keep quiet.

“All of a sudden, one of the policemen, who became annoyed, started punching me but I blocked my face. Then, he punched my stomach and limbs. When the beating was too much, my friend had to inform them that I am an international student from Liberia.

“It was at that point that they calmed down, took us to the police station and locked us up in the cell. After realising that I was becoming very weak, they brought me out of the cell, drove me home and dumped me at the front of the house.”

Blamoh said despite informing the policemen that he had become numb due to the assault, the policemen abandoned him, adding that he collapsed and woke up in the hospital.

“My belongings are still there, they just released my friend this afternoon. I’m thankful I didn’t lose my life,” he said.

Blamoh’s caretaker, Chibest Udokaogu, said he saw the policemen dumping the undergraduate at the front of the house, adding that after he collapsed, he rushed him to the Ayobami Clinic and Maternity Hospital, Tanke, Oke-Odo.

He said, “The policemen dropped him on the cover of the soak away. I saw them while peeping through my window and rushed out to call his name but Blamoh did not respond.

“The police were standing there as I rushed him to the hospital. They did nothing. When I got to the hospital, I begged for his life to be saved. I thank God he didn’t die in my hands.”

The nurse on duty at the hospital, who does not want to be mentioned over fears of losing her job, said the Liberian was unconscious when the caretaker brought him to the “He is still recovering but feels pain in his limbs and back. We’re treating him and hope that he gets better soon enough,” the nurse said.

Contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ajayi Okasanmi, said the policemen raided criminal hideouts and arrested some suspects in the area.

“This morning, we heard that somebody slumped and we are currently investigating that allegation,” he said.

Crime / NPF spares men, Sowore condemns suspension of policewomen by highbee02: 12:28pm On Aug 28, 2022
Rights activist and the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, has knocked the Nigeria Police Force over the suspension of two female officers, for using TikTok.

On Friday, the NPF suspended two supernumerary Police Officers, Obaze Blessing and Obaze Uju, over misconduct and violation of social media policy.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed this via his Twitter handle.

Speaking in the video he shared on his Twitter page, Adejobi said that the two female cops had “portrayed themselves in the viral video and other videos as undisciplined and unprofessional in contravention of the police social media policy.”

In the viral video captioned “sisters that slay together, work together”, both officers are featured in a montage of pictures where they are seen dressed in their uniforms, bikini, and casual wear.

Reacting in a Facebook post late Saturday, Sowore noted that the Nigeria Police was living in the past. He added that the police would have spared male officers.

The suspension of these police ladies by the Nigeria Police Force is an illegal and oppressive act against the police officers, I keep reiterating that Nigeria security forces are living in the past and are highly chauvinistic. If these were male police officers on TikTok no one would touch them. The police force must rescind their illegal suspension and recall them back with immediate effect.

However, the police in its statement also stated, “It is equally important to mention that in line with Section 25 (2) (3) of the Police Act, 2020 and the Nigeria police guidelines for recruitment, promotion, the discipline of supernumerary police, 2013, issued by the IG, the mode of dressing for SPY police mandates its SPY officers above the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police not to wear uniforms.

“Similarly, extant laws delineate the supernumerary uniform. It states that they must be on their approved uniform, ash-colored shirt with ‘SPY’ inscriptions all over, over black with shoulder badge carrying the word ‘supernumerary’. Hence, supernumerary officers adorning police black, neon blue or camouflage uniforms run afoul of the law and would be adequately sanctioned.”

The suspension has met condemnations from several notable personalities. Veteran singer, John Asiemo, popularly known as Daddy Showkey, spoke in defense of two female police officers, saying the video could help reframe attract young people towards the police force for good.

A former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Shehu Sani, also reacted via his Twitter handle on Saturday, appealing to the police to spare the ladies.

“Dear IG, please forgive those two suspended female police officers. I can help in preaching and counselling them not to repeat. When I saw the clip, I was momentarily over shocked; but it’s forgivable,” Sani tweeted.

Rozross:
Sexual activities between couples require some form of skills and energy no doubt. Women hold down jobs, being moms, being a wife and this can be overwhelming and highly desexualising making it difficult to shift into romantic modes with worn out energies.

With all these put together, should women worry over not being good in bed to meet up with their partners' fantasies?

Do men really care about their partner’s bedroom skills? As a man, will you leave your woman because of her poor bedroom skills?

We care! If I pump u, u should be able to pump me back. Don't turn to a log of wood in bed

Just tell them to put signboard with the insscription "NO PARKING by police order", if they don't want anybody to park there.

This is what I told a woman who accused me of parking in front of her shop, and the shop is directly opposite 'A DIVISION' Ilorin. I told her to walk across to the police station and lodge a complain.

U only paid for the shop and NOT the road, besides I pay my tax regularly and this is one of the sources of income to the government, she's fuming.

I was waiting for her to do her worst when a man walked up to me and asked me to hop in and zoom off. He said I should ignore her.
