In the past when GSM first came into Nigeria, the service provider used to do what we called validity period for recharge cards loaded then. For instance if you load 500 naira glo or mtn card, you must be able to use it within a certain period of time after which it would expire and become invalid. Although you would retain your credit but you won't be able to make call with it. As time goes on, this regulation was abolished. Now we want NCC to also abolish and annul the one month or days validity period imposed on Nigerians by service providers. Why should you force someone to finish what he or she had bought with his own money within a certain period of time?. They say we must finish it or it roll over. What nonsense! This totally violates human right! If you buy 1000,2000, or even 100 naira data, the data should last long until you finish it . There shouldn't be any embago or rule that should render it invalid after a certain period of time.My fellow Nigerians how do you feel about it. LIKELY REASONS FOR POOR PERFORMANCE OF NIGERIA STUDENTS IN PUBLIC EXAMS

1)POOR ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS- imagine a block of classroom situated very close to a noisy or heavy generating set. Some school are also situated close to an industrial area, motor park, hotels etc. Tell me, how do you expect such pupils to cope in such an environment? A noisy environment has a great negative effect on the proper learning of a student. It would affect the concentration and focus of the students.

2)POOR STATE OF LIBRARY AND LABORATORIES: A lot of schools are out there with no good and modern laboratory equipment to carry out practicals for pupils. The equipment and laboratory apparatus used by many schools in Nigeria are outdated and in improper conditions. Some had to go out to borrow equipment from other schools. Likewise the library, don't be surprised to see books of 1950's in some school library. You shouldn't expect such students to be come out best in their public examinations.
3)TYPE OF TEACHERS: How can a teacher who did not pass through training in education give out the best to her students. Most of those teacher found themselves in teaching, not because they love teaching but rather due to unemployment. As a result, some of them may take the job nonchalantly
4) POOR READING HABIT OF PUPILS- The emergence of social media like facebook,twitter etc, internet, season films, video games and so on had caused a great increase in the poor performance of students in public examinations. They prefer spending times with those things than studying their books
5)POOR SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION: Some schools no longer organize the literary and debating programme. So many other educative programme and school clubs are no more in place.
6)EXAM MALPRACTICES: Many schools now organize some form of illegal assistance and help to their students during examination. Most of these actions are often endorsed by the school proprietor.This would definitely affect the students zeal towards reading ahead for their exams. He is already sure that the school is there to help him in his exam. So why should he bother to read? Thank God, JAMB has now made reading mandatory for all students due to the introduction of the Computer-base test examination which has currently eradicate malpractice in JAMB Exam. Imaging a student who had 7 "A1" in his SSCE, then got 122 in UTME. It is so clear that such a student must have engaged in malpractice in his SSCE
7) LACK OF PROPER PLANNING BY INDIVIDUAL STUDENT: Many students actually don't have proper planning for their exams. Some did not know how to read and when to read for their examination. A student should be able to find out the best time he or she can assimilate more.He should be able to find out the conditions that can favour his reading and assimilating. Can i assimilate in a noisy environment? Can i read and understand with my ear piece on? Etc. In one word a student should be able to understand himself. He should also read ahead of his exams. Imagine a student reading a whole textbook a day to an exam. How can he pass?
PARENTS AND GUARDIANS: Some parents or guardian do not give enough time for their children to study. House chores and house work are often assigned to such a child at a time he or she ought to read. Although, it is essential for the children to help their parents but nevertheless time to study (especially,when exam is getting closer )should still be given to these children in order for them to come out successful. Poor monitoring of the children is also common. Parents should be a able to properly monitor how their children is coping in their studies in school.
9)THE GOVERNMENT: i think our government most especially the state government are not doing much with regard to education. You would almost cry if you see the situation of some schools in some states in Nigeria. The federal government are doing a great work in most federal schools in the government. But most state government (except Lagos) are not doing much. I often feel sad when i visit some schools in Ogun state and Osun state. Some of those schools are so bad and horribly looking.

Now let us consider the various things you are likely to face if you become a celebrity. Have you ever imagine why some celebrities like footballers,popular film actors are paid huge amount of money? To me i believe it is an indirect way of compensating them of what they would face has a result of the job they offer.


1) LOSS OF FREEDOM- A celebrity would be unable to do or go to major places an average man would go or do. Strolling down a major street, going to Market, Banks or some social gatherings or party. This is one of the greatest disadvantage of being a celebrity as a lot of people want to have a autograph or a picture or hug and handshake with a celebrity causing them to rally round you in public places.

2) LOW PRIVACY- especially in this age of technology where blogging and camera phones are the order of the day. All eyes are on you in public gatherings.Even many things happening in your home of which you don't want people to know could be lick out to the world to see.

3)INSECURITY: A lot of people often connect popularity to wealth. Once you are popular, they believe you should have some fat pocket. This mentality often posses the life of many celebrities to danger.
Kidnapping, arm robbery, falling victims to dupers,stalkers,hackers and so many other threat may arose.

4)UNABLE TO DISTINGUISH TRUE FRIENDS: As a celebrity, there are lot of people around you. Most of them with different motives. Therefore, it would be difficult to differentiate the real and the fake ones among them.

5)THEY ARE EASILY JUDGED: a celebrity is highly open to a lot criticism from both fans and foes. Their dressing,mistakes,speech ,actions and so on is open to a wide range of condemnation by various people.

6) FEAR AND ANXIETY: there could be fear in you that some people or opponents are after you. As a result, you tend to ensure all possible means to secure yourself and your entire family which could cause a build up in tension and anxiety.

7)LOW TRUST IN YOU : as celebrity, your leadership qualities is in doubt.Recently, some celebrities ventured into politics but virtually all of them lost out in the primary election. Many people tends to belittle the leadership capability or intention of such celebs.

11) UNABLE TO MEET ALL FANS: As a celebrity lot of people know you but unfortunately it is impossible for you to meet each of them one on one. You may not even know or meet 0.0000000001% of them throughout your life time.

12)LIVES ON MEMORY- they tend to live on memory of their past life. The type of life they live as a common man in the street before they became celebrities. Those lifestyle could be very interesting but unfortunately irreversible.

13) LIKELY TO COMPROMISE- as an entertainer,, you are likely to compromise in the service you render to your fans. Pride could spring up in you making you too loose your humble self. Also you may also tend to involve in some indecent role and characters of which you frowns at before.

14) FLUCTUATION IN CELEBRITY STATUS- A celebrity today may be no where to be found in the next 10 years. We call such people shooting stars. A better person could emerge whose qualities and skills surpass yours causing people to prefer him or her to you.

15) ENVY FROM OTHER CELEBRITIES- ''It seems you have suddenly rose to become a superstar''. Thereby indirectly depriving other celebrities of awards, chances etc. These could build up envy or rebellion from other celebrities to you.

18)LATE MARRIAGE: Late marriage is common among celebrities, a celeb who became popular before marriage may have to spend more time than an average man before he or she can marry. Probably due to fact that most celebrities wish to marry a descent,good looking, beautiful,tall,wealthy, educated, and responsible person. Every celebrity would prefer his or her fans to see him with such a person. As a result, they may keep on sampling and searching to get a perfect suitor for themselves. There inability to go to the street to get a common man could also be a factor.

19) DIVORCE AND SHORT DURATION OF MARRIAGE- Divorce and short duration of marriage is also common among celebrities. I am sure you must have heard of news of celebrities whose marriage had crashed in the last few years.

First of all, let us consider the 4 types of celebrities according to how they became famous as written and named by me as written and named by me.
A) ACQUIRED CELEBRITIES: These people became celebrities as a result of their family background. A child or relative to a celebrity is automatically a celebrity too .E.g Yusuf Buhari.

B) ATTAINED CELEBRITY- These are people who became popular and well known as a result of them showing forth their skills and talents . Majority of celebrities fall into this category. They includes a Nobel prize winner, award winner, actors,artistes, renown doctors,lawyers, broadcasters,Journalists,bloggers,athletes,footballers,academicians and so on.

C) OPPORTUNE CELEBRITY- I also classified another set of celebrity called the opportune celebrity.These people became celebrities, after been selected or elected to a popular position or rank. They can also be called the privileged celebrities. There are other people who are equally qualified for that same position of which one or a certain maximum number must be chosen. All politicians in a leadership position, chairmen of commissions, vice chancellors,kings etc could be regarded as opportune celebrities. Also an athlete selected among a 23- man quad to represent a team or country for the first time at a tournament could also be referred to as a privileged or opportune celebrity. Those people become exceedingly popular as a result of this even after leaving that position.

D)ASSOCIATE or ASSOCIATED CELEBRITIES- They become celebrity as a result of them interacting with other celebrities. These people mix or relate with already known celebrities. Ego, a former co-singer with Lagbaja can be classified into these category. Others include denrele, Kenny Ogungbe, and Asari Dokunbo. Also the Spouse, Boss, Photographers, personal assistance, aids etc to a celebrity could be referred to as an associate celebrity.

To me i believe these are the only professions in Nigeria with 100% chance of employment after you had graduated from the university. You don't need to run 360 degrees before seeing a job in those profession. JOB is right there in your pocket.

1)DENTISTRY and DENTAL SURGERY: Only about 25 students are admitted for this course yearly. That means about 25 people would be graduating from this course yearly. There are about 6 universities that offers this course in Nigeria. 25 multiply by 6. That's 150. Meaning that Just about 150 graduates would be competing with each other in the labour market each year. Out of this 150 some would decide to practise abroad while others may decide to further their study to become a medical doctor. Leaving just few graduates to treat over 150 million population. Sometimes back i heard of a state who needed the service of dentists but surprisingly no one showed up in contrast to other bodies like banking, petroleum etc where you would have seen thousands of applications.
2) LOCAL GOVERNMENT STUDIES: This might shock you. But i believe if others would deny you job, the local government you hail from would not since you are son of the soil. The total number of graduates that graduated from this course in a state may not be up to 12. And some states has up to 20 local governments or even more out of which you can easily be "thrown" to any of them with ease.

Admissions is just getting tougher and tougher every year. A lot of aspirants must have failed Jamb probably due to the believe that Jamb cbt que is very simple and questions easy. But i must tell you that the jamb cbt was surprisingly complex enough with diagrams,calculations, etc. I'll advise all jambites next year not to be over confident or belittle the exam. It is not as simple as those latter year's ppt question. GOD help you all.
