Dumb! He was sworn in as PRESIDENT and not as Acting president. He had been acting president since February 2010 since the declaration of the National Assembly. |
Goodluck Jonathan would be the greatest fool if he becomes ANYBODY's VP after being a President. He should not agree o. It is better to be President for three months and be counted amongst presidents (like Ernest Shonekan) than to be president small and then revert to Vice President. Haba! Look, the man should forget all those threatening him and give it a run. No shaking. The sky would not fall. It's either he wins or he loses. No big deal to lose (IBB failed in his bid to stay put, Abacha failed to rule like a monarch, Obasanjo failed in his third term bid, Buhari failed twice to be civilian president, Gowon failed to get NRC Presidential Ticket for Zaria LGA under Option A4, Shonekan failed to hold on to power). He should give it a shot. He is better than IBB, Buhari, Gusau, Obasanjo, Ogbuluafor and all the other 'leaders' who are calling for him not to run. All of them will queue up behind him if he wields the presidential powers well. That was what got IBB in line when Obasanjo wielded the Yar'adua option. That was what got IBB quiet throughout the reign of Abacha. He was suddenly everywhere when Abacha died and Abdulsalam got in. IBB is not a powerful as he is touted to be, he is just very tactical. A fox. Look Goody Joe, you have NOTHING to lose for trying to be the next president. After all, you would have just been among the other governors looking for second term by now and now you are Ag President. Go for it man! |
Victory for the Blues cannot be compromised at this time. Not now, not at any point in the next three matches! |
Well said. Buhari is the one that destoyed ANPP now, right? When he raised up the hand of Shekarau, a former school teacher, and lent him some credence before the fanatically pro-Buhari crowd in Kano, he was not destroying ANPP then. When people dumped the preferred party in Kano (PDP) and turned their backs on Rimi, Kwankwaso, Na'aba and the likes to vote in Shekarau because he was endorsed by Buhari, he wasn't destroying ANPP then. Now that Shekarau felt that he had grown enough to be his own man, he said Buhari destroyed ANPP. Politicians!!! Meanwhile, this Shekarau is being put forward for the presidency of Nigeria by some Northwesterners. Is this a plague?: To always present the worst to rule over the best? |
How can Maurice Iwu, the Professor of Pharmacy that was told to head an electoral body be absolved of complicity? He is grossly incompetent and his defence only amounts to the ranting of a drowning man. Iwuruwuru! |
The woman is obviously ugly hence the need for the poster to seek counsel. If she were a supple widow, you already know the answer to the question before you asked. In any case, you were not confused because if you were, how did you get the time to leave her office without giving her any response, then the next thing was to go to Nairaland to seek counsel? Oh come on, You have made your decision, you are just looking for who would help you justify it. Unfortunately, the opinions here differ sharply. |
Is the move to 'abandon' the nation in the face of growing global tension legal? Abeg, abeg, abeg let's move forward, and forget legality. It is all political. |
Not only Sahara reporters, AIT, This Day and Aondokaa himself have all confirmed it. GOOD RIDDANCE TO BAD RUBBISH!!!!!!! The next thing would be his eventual sack from office of minister. |
And the drama continues. ![]() When Obasanjo and Yar'Adua chop belleful and go; dem put civilians friends there dem shout second (fourth) republic, people wey no know dey happy, people wey know dey look, me I no know dem by that name I call dem soldier go soldier come, soldier go, soldier come, soldier come, soldier go, na so our life dey role since dem say we get independence; soldier go, soldier come, soldier come, soldier go, Na so African man life be, suffer don dabaru him sense; soldier go, soldier come, soldier come, soldier go, Our lives go roll small, he go go knock head for tree; soldier go, soldier come, soldier come, soldier go, Apologies to Fela Anikulapo Kuti. Aondokaa was right about Dora, she is just playing the Saint to buy favour with the in-coming administration. They are both birds of similar feathers or to put it more succinctly, feathers of the same bird. Advice to President Jonathan: Fire both of them!!! So, my friend overtake don overtake overtake eh ah, overtake don overtake overtake eh ah, Ah! soldier go, soldier come, soldier come, soldier go, soldier go, soldier come, soldier come, soldier go, |
Dramas would never end in Nigeria! Members of the nation's House of Representatives have been so magnanimous and charitable that they decided to donate N20,000.00 per member amounting to N7.2m [$57,600]. This is how much the parliament of the world's largest Black nation cherishes the lives of the people of Haiti. This is the generous widow's mite of the 360 millionaires (this qualification is being extremely conservative) to the lives of the 1.5 million displaced humans in Haiti. How great!? |
bibiking1:Or his resolve not to die but perpetually hang himself on our necks? |
@labiyemmy:@ Labiyemmy It has not been authenticated yet whether he is actualy alive or not; but someone in the name Umaru Yar'adua said he was alive and will indeed 'be back soon to resume duty'. Thanks for the view. More views please. |
NLers please judge which is more disappointing: the planned return of Umaru Musa Yar'Adua to Nigeria not to resign or to apologise but to 'resume duty very soon' or the shocking mauling of the Super Eagles by Pharoahs of Egypt 3-1 in Angola? May be the Eagles should have drawn rather than lost. May be Yar'Adua should have come to resign rather than intend to continue as if all is well. May be , Let's hear your view. |
Princek12:To fill in 'quota'. ![]() |
Up Mali! Up Keshi!! Up unrelenting West African spirit!!! |
Beaf:Do you blame him? Ayatollah is even an Iranian 'Chieftancy title'. Talk of injustice in the world without addressing the injustice of not having a president and they tell us that we still have one. What about the injustice in the Niger Delta within 'Obodo' Nigeria? |
Is this Mutalab a 'real' terrorist? He could not even detonate a mere pant bomb when a kid in Afghanistan or Yemen could do that easily! He probably took his ambition too far - to become more (in)famous than his father before the age of 24. Imagine, even Obama mentioned him by name in a national broadcast - a thing his father never achieved. Also, he has become a known face worldwide - like the face of some pop star. His not guilty plea is to prolong the spotlight of celebrity he appears to be enjoying right now. However, every adventure/misadventure has its price. So for him, 20 years of imprisonment beckons. What a price to pay for infamy of a nincompoop! |
REWIND TO NIGERIA 1963: SIR ABUBAKAR TAFAWA BALEWA TOOK HIS ONLY ANNUAL LEAVE IN 1963 WHICH HE DECIDED TO SPEND IN HIS VILLAGE. A BRITISH PHOTO JOURNALIST CAME CALLING, BUT WAS TOLD THE PM WAS ON VACATION. HE ASKED TO WHICH COUNTRY, BUT WAS SHOCKED TO HEAR HIS VILLAGE. ON GETTING TO THE VILLAGE, THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OR PARAPHENLIA TO SHOW A BIG WIG WAS THERE, EVERYONE WAS BUSY WITH HIS CHORES. HE MET A FARMER WITH HIS DONKEY CARRYING BALES OF SUGARCANE, FOR THE PM’S HOME, AND HE WAS UTTERLY SPEECHLESS WHEN THE FARMER SAID: “I JUST LEFT HIM; YOU WILL SEE HIM SITTING ON BARE FLOOR WITH HIS KIDS EATING SUGAR CANE THAT I GAVE THEM”. HE MET THEM LIKE THAT AND TOOK THE ATTACHED PICTURE.WHAT AN EPITOME OF SIMPLICITY AND HUMILITY! FAST FORWARD - NIGERIA 2010 CAN ANY OF OUR CURRENT LEADERS HUMBLE THEMSELVES LIKE THE GENTLEMAN IN THE PICTURE? CAN ANY OF THEM TAKE A VACATION AND GO TO THEIR VILLAGES WITHOUT TRAVELLING OUT OF THE COUNTRY? CAN THEY DO MEDICAL CHECK UP IN LUTH/UCH/ABUTH/UNTH/UBTH/UMTH/NATIONAL HOSPITAL AND FEEL LIKE THEY HAVE DONE A THOROUGH AND BEFITTING CHECK? CAN THEY FEEL COMFORTABLE BEING ADMITTED AND TREATED THEREIN EVEN FOR PERICARDITIS OR RADICULOPATHY? NO NEED TO ANSWER…. |
The information minister should stop her sing-song about this whole thing mis-representing Nigerians. If the action of one man had brought glory to the nation would they not have claimed it all? Are they not show-casing the works of Wole Soyinka, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Chimamanda Adichie and co? All of whom live abroad. Is it because those ones have done good works, then you lazily claim it as a govt? And when another person does evil you deny it vehemently? Look let's face it, Nigeria is full of good and evil people alike. Are Boko Haram and Kala Kato Talibans not terrorists? Are they not Nigerians? This is what you get when you do not have a living president and you get told lies that you do have one. This is what you get when you go around the nation asking for prayers to be said for a dead man. This is what you get when you try rebranding a sick nation instead of seeking urgent medical attention. This is what you get when the nation's education has become so bad that people send their children abroad to 'better' schools where they influence them to become Al Qaeda Jihadists. This is what you get when the nation's hospitals are not good enough to treat her elists while her commoners die daily due to poor medicare. This is what you get from the good people, great nation that has among the world's largest maternal mortality rates. My heart bleeds for Nigerians Michael Kaase Aondokaa and Dora Akunyili inclusive! |
@ Finecat Please go beyond quoting Vanguard. Please state what edition and possibly show link. This is because of your known antecedence as Bank hating. |
There was news flash today that foremost human rights activist, Chief Gani O. Fawehinmi passed on in the early hours of today Saturday 5th September, 2009 in his Ikeja, Lagos residence at almost 72 years of age. |
Sincerely, I kind of think MR Crackles displayed personal Islamic bias. He was very passionate about this ISLAMIC banking thing probably for parochial reasons. And coming from someone who has always tongue lashed Christian leaders. This is my personal opinion though. |
Nigeria's premier university, University of Ibadan (UI) won Zain quiz competition for African Universities. Kenyatta University (in Kenya) came second and University of Lagos came third. Looks like there is still hope for Nigerian education. |
He is not exactly tribalistic, it just that he is too myopic to realise that there is a world outside Katsina and its environ. Left to him his son can be the Youth Devt Minister and his maiguard can be the Defence Minister. It is not that he's being wicked, it is just that he does not know that there are other people in HIS WORLD. Wait till you learn that his messengers in Katsina will soon be tagged as 'Special Assistants'. What is wrong with you people, don't you realise that the devil u know is safer than the angel u do not know? ![]() In fact, the next set of Special Advisers will be from Jibia (in Katsina State) and neighbouring Niger Republic! ![]() |
oge4real:But sometimes it is better to hope for a replacement piece of bread than take the left over from the mouth of bingo! ![]() |
From generation to generation, MJ was well known and now would be well missed. He appeared so ageless that many did not realise he was ageing like other mortals and that he would have been 51 this year. Adieu Wacko Jacko. |

Am Alone:Accra may not be as beautiful and rich as Abuja (this is the plain incontesable fact) but it sure does have fine places also. Ridge is okay, so is Castle. Accra North and areas around Legon are not bad. Airport Road is also okay. And above all: they have regular light supply a thing no city in Nigeria can boast of. Let's strike the balance: Accra and Ghana are okay but Nigeria has far bigger and better cities than many countries do have in Africa (bad roads and lack of constant light supply being Nigeria's main albatross). |
arogbowei:True talk. I spend most of my vacation around the continent. |
kofi nti:Is this some joke? Okay, it is a joke. I for say. Accra is actually like a son to Abuja. It is organised: yes; it is neat: yes; but that is where the story ends. The people are not friendly. They discriminate against other fellow Africans. Where is 'city' enough in Ghana after Accra?: Tema, Takoradi, Cape Coast, Kumasi, where? Accra in actual fact should be compared to Kaduna, Kano(this is even bigger and more populous than Accra), Calabar and Owerri. |
faoni572:Honourary enrolment, like his GCFR. As the man no get original, na dash them dey dash am everything, even presidency! |
Why is everyone forgetting the world famous Lagos commuter yellow bus: Molue?! |
