Daily Manna: Whose Voice Do You Listen To? Tuesday 15, October 2013 TEXT: 1 SAMUEL 17:25-37 KEY VERSE: “David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the LORD be with thee” (1 Samuel 17:37). A Christian woman found herself in a dilemma in a war-torn zone following the invasion of her residence by enemy forces. The stomping, fierce-looking soldiers entered her house and demanded food, probably intending to deal with her after the meal. She set the table and told her guests that her tradition was to pray and read the Bible before eating. She read from Psalm 27 and closing her eyes, began to pray. She heard footsteps and by the time she opened her eyes, there was no soldier at the table. The woman did not panic or fear but latched on to the Word of God which had said, “Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, He shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD (Psalm 27:14). The same recipe delivered David when his brothers and Saul attempted to scheme him out of victory that would exalt the name of God and free His people from fear and bondage of the Philistines. Young David shoved aside the apprehension of Israel’s soldiers as he countered the “uncircumcised Philistine” who defied the armies of the living God. And refusing to listen to Saul, he spoke of the God that delivered him from the lion and the bear, saying confidently that the same God would rescue him from the enemy. God did not fail David. So, if you are at the crossroads of conflict and confusion today, settle it in your heart not to fret or compromise. Do not panic either. Follow David’s path by listening to God’s voice: “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me (Jesus)” (John 14:1). THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: When in trouble, tune in to God’s frequency. ***Share your thoughts and what you've just learnt in the comments section below. Don't forget to SHARE! |
Daily Manna: He Still Answers Prayer Monday 14, October 2013 TEXT: GENESIS 24:33-49 KEY VERSE: “And it came to pass, before he had done speaking, that, behold, Rebekah came out, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham’s brother, with her pitcher upon her shoulder” (Genesis 24:15). Today’s text reveals one of the most striking proofs of the faithfulness of God concerning what He says: “And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear” (Isaiah 65:24). It speaks truly about God’s awesomeness, omnipotence, omniscience and omnipresence! Finite man does not have the language to fully describe the greatness of this great God but we do possess the sensibilities to stand in awe of the Creator Who orders our journey when we place it in His hands! The point is that God answers our prayers to shore-up our faith in Him and make nonsense the cynicism of the heathen. Such was the amazement of Abraham’s servant at the prompt answer to his prayer in our text. “And the man (Abraham’s servant) wondering at her (Rebekah) held his peace, to wit whether the LORD had made his journey prosperous or not.” Full of gratitude, he “bowed down his head and worshipped the LORD” (verse 26). His plea with an earlier one by Abraham in verses 14 and 7 was dramatically granted by God. The Bible is replete with accounts of God at work through the prayers we present to Him in absolute faith. He is no respecter of persons, implying that as He granted the request of Abraham and Eliezer, the loyal servant; He will grant ours too. THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: As God was faithful in Bible times, so He will be forever. ***Share your thoughts and what you've just learnt in the comments section below. Don't forget to SHARE! |
Daily Manna: Making Of An Overcomer Sunday 13, October 2013 TEXT: ROMANS 8:31-39 KEY VERSE: “Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us” (Romans 8:34). Apostle Paul here assures the committed saint of victory through our Lord. Arraying the vast arsenal the devil launches against the Christian - death, famine, distress, sword, principalities, destructive and deceptive pleasures of life, false angels, powers, etc. - the Apostle says these weapons are pitiably feeble matched against the force on the side of the child of God. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is that Force fighting on behalf of His saints. We cannot fall at the war front because if “God be for us, who can be against us?” (verse 31). The irreversible verdict of heaven is that we are overcomers. “Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather that is risen again who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us” (verse 34). And Jesus gladdens our hearts with His declaration that God hears Him when He intercedes for us (John 11:42). The implication is that we have a picture of Christians poised to triumph over the cunning strategies of the devil. This army, collectively and individually, is invincible. So, when we experience trials, suffering and ultimate death, we need not fear since our Master “Himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage” (Hebrews 2:14,15). THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: If God be for us, no one can withstand us. ***Share your thoughts and what you've just learnt in the comments section below. Don't forget to SHARE |
Daily Manna: Breaking With Tradition Friday 04, October 2013 TEXT: ACTS 10:34-48 KEY VERSE: “Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him” (Acts 10:34,35). According to William Barclay, a basic part of the Jewish religion in the New Testament era was an oath that promised that one would never help a Gentile under any circumstance, such as giving directions if they were asked. But it went even as far as refusing to help a Gentile woman at the time of her greatest need - when she was giving birth - because the result would only be to bring another Gentile into the world. If a Jew married a Gentile, the Jewish community would conduct a funeral for the Jew and consider him dead. It was thought that to even enter the house of a Gentile made a Jew unclean before God. The Gentiles equally despised Jews as weird traditionalists, and believed that they were evil plotters and superstitious. Peter, breaking with Jewish tradition, came to the house of Cornelius, a Roman soldier and centurion within the Italian Band which was a volunteer army. Peter’s message to the Gentiles in our text was essentially the same as his message to the Jews. He presented the person and work of Jesus Christ with emphasis on the resurrection and expected response of prospective beneficiaries. While listening to Peter, these people responded with readiness of heart to the gospel by setting their faith in Jesus Christ. Their hearts having been already purified (Acts 15:9), the Holy Spirit came on them in baptismal measure. Christ’s death on the Cross has opened the door for all to come in. His command is to reach everyone with the saving knowledge of His gospel. We must therefore overcome all restrictions and go ahead to give the full gospel to all of humanity in our world today. THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: It is the gospel, not human tradition, that brings salvation to mankind. ***Share your thoughts and what you've just learnt in the comments section below. Don't forget to SHARE |
Daily Manna: Imperfect Vision Wednesday 02, October 2013 TEXT: MARK 8:22-26 KEY VERSE: “And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking” (Mark 8:24). In his book, An Anthropologist on Mars, neurologist, Oliver Sacks tells about Virgil, a man who had been blind from early and childhood and recovered his sight at 50 after surgery. But as he and Dr. Sacks found out, having the physical capacity for sight is not the same as seeing. Virgil’s first experiences with sight were confusing. He was able to figure out colours and movements, but arranging them into a coherent picture was more difficult. Over time, he learned to identify various objects, but his habits were still those of a blind man. At Bethsaida, a blind man was brought to Jesus for healing. After the first touch, the man could see but imperfectly – a clear indication that he needed a second touch. Jesus touched his eyes again and then came the full restoration of sight that the man and his neighbours desired. This miracle reveals the way God opens the eyes of the spiritually blind: He is able to take someone who cannot understand spiritual truth and work patiently with him, step by step, to bring him to full comprehension. This should encourage those who are praying for their loved ones to be saved. How often have we done what these neighbours and friends did for this blind man? We need to cry out on behalf of our loved ones and neighbours who walk in spiritual blindness, asking the Lord to open their eyes and help them to see and receive Christ as Lord and Saviour. THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: It sometimes needs Christ’s second touch to see clearly. ***Share your thoughts and what you've just learnt in the comments section below. Don't forget to SHARE |

Daily Manna: Forty Days of Fear Tuesday 01, October 2013 TEXT: 1 SAMUEL 17:12-24 KEY VERSE: "And the Philistine drew near morning and evening, and presented himself forty days" (1 Samuel 17:16). "It is a poor thing to fear that which is inevitable" says Tertullian, a third-century church father while speaking of death. From our text, David, the youngest son of Jesse, heard Goliath bragging in defiance of Israel and God. He also saw the fidgeting and shivering hosts of Israel before arrogrant Goliath, head of the Philistine army threatening to overrun them. Goliath came out morning and evening in complete battle gear and paraded himself in front of Israeli army because he wanted them to be dismayed and afraid. He was able to torment the Israelites for forty days using the psychological weapon of fear. In any contest, it is always useful to demoralize one's opponents and strike fear in their hearts to make them cower or fight with apprehension. The devil uses this strategy against us as believers because he wants to make us fearful. But we must put on the whole armour of God and remember that we are wrestling against spiritual giants. Giants never completely go away by themselves until we face and fight them frontally. The devil engages and infiltrates the minds of his targets with fearful thoughts of negative consequences. The longer you let him speak, the more demoralized you will become. Many bekievers are afraid of all kinds of Goliaths to the extents that they do not venture to preach the gospel. But put the fear behind you and confront the giant before you. The Lord will give you the victory you desire. THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Greater is He that is in you. ***Share your thoughts and what you've just learnt in the comments section below. Don't forget to SHARE! |
Daily Manna: Daily Consecration Monday 30, September 2013 TEXT: EXODUS 29:38-42 KEY VERSE: “Now this is that which thou shalt offer upon the altar; two lambs of the first year day by day continually. The one lamb thou shalt offer in the morning; and the other lamb thou shalt offer at even” (Exodus 29:38,39). The late Bishop John H. Vincent had the custom of repeating to himself each morning the following simple but far-reaching solution which may serve as a model for us; “I will this day try to live a simple, sincere and serene life, refilling promptly every thought of discontent, impurity and self seeking, cultivating cheerfulness, magnanimity, charity and the habit of holy silence; exercising economy in expenditure, carefulness in conversation, diligence in appointed service and childlike faith to God.” In today’s text, a continual burnt offering on the altar was to be offered day and night . The children of Israel were to offer a lamb, along with grain offering and drink offering. The burnt offering was distinguished from other sacrifices. This offering was a mark of consecration to God’s service. They are relevant to us today because they teach us how to consecrate ourself to God daily. The best of our sacrifice must cost us self, time, energy, talent, intellect and money. God wants us to give voluntarily. “Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice” (Psalm 50:5). Consecration is not wrapping one’s self in a holy web in the sanctuary. Consecration is going out into the world and using every power for God’s glory through service. It is simply dedicating one’s life to God’s service. Christ is worth any possible sacrifices. Nothing should stand in the way of faith; we must be ruthless in removing sin from our lives in order to make our sacrifices worthy and acceptable unto God. Our consecration should be renewed on daily basis. We are living in the last days; and the love of many is already waxing cold. Will your fire keep burning on the altar day and night continually? THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: God demands whole-hearted consecration from you. ***Share your thoughts and what you've just learnt in the comments section below. Don't forget to SHARE! |

Daily Manna: Selfless Love Saturday 14, September 2013 TEXT: SONG OF SOLOMON 6:1-13 KEY VERSE: “I am my beloved’s, and my beloved is mine: he feedeth among the lilies” (Song of Solomon 6:3). Princess Alice of the United Kingdom expressed her self-sacrificing love for her child with her life. William Gladstone who related the touching story of her death to the House of Commons noted that doctors had warned her never to kiss her little daughter who had diphtheria, as it could endanger her life by breathing the child’s breath. When Alice got to her child’s bed and saw her struggling to breathe, she entirely forgot herself and took the little child into her arms to keep her from choking to death. While struggling for her life, the child said: “Momma, kiss me.” Alice, without thinking of herself, tenderly kissed her daughter. Immediately, she contracted the diphtheria and a few days later, she died. The Princess, therefore, became the first child of her mother, Queen Victoria, to die. Her mother outlived her by 20 years. But her death aroused a lot of emotions, as it espoused her real love for the child, which revealed that real love forgets self; real love knows no danger and real love does not count the cost. Alice’s self-sacrificing love clearly explained the type of love we should have for God. Our text equally epitomised this. Sometimes, some people might misconstrue our depth of love and confidence in God. They might nickname us fanatics and offer to assist us seek the right way to God, particularly in our moments of challenges. The gullible might fall victim and become misled. But we should remain passionate in our love for Christ, the Bridegroom of the Church. God created all men, but He has sincerely born again Christians as the apple of His eyes. So, we should develop a deep love for God so that we might live a life that is well pleasing to Him. THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Many waters cannot quench love. ***Share your thoughts and what you've just learnt in the comments section below. Don't forget to SHARE. |
mcfynest: i had to like your post @alfa cos of some level of truth in it....hMN I was waiting for this 2corin tinz but we fail to address d real issue and mistake made, well i agree wit dat verse but when God told the prophet in the old testament to marry a prostitute it was for a reason, Moses married an alien it was God`s will Jesus dinned with zacheus and many more. one thing you dont understand is that you can see a light or know the worth of a light in a broad day light, its worth can only be found in the dark. so understand the scriptures n apply it with wisdom emphasis should be made on having a relationship with God first so that our steps could be ordered by him. |
Well i dont know the base of your love for her, but i think true love knows no bound if you are a true christian and its God`s will then no doubt, God will lead you aright. the mistake you made is trying to do the work for the Spirit of God you should have allowed ur life so shine that she may find Jesus in you. My cousin married a muslim and never allowed his religion to disturb her and they live happily together when the time come i wont be surprised to see him in church cos God will always be God What i think you should do is to put off your clothes of emotion and talk to God in prayer about it since you didnt do that first before entering the relationship so that you dont trap yourself and regret. |
Daily Manna: Ministers Of Reconciliation Tuesday 10, September 2013 TEXT: 2 CORINTHIANS 5:10-21 KEY VERSE: “Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God” (2 Corinthians 5:20). Saint Francis, reflecting on a story he heard of a mountaineer in the Alps, who had risked his life to save a sheep, says: “Oh, God, if such was the earnestness of this shepherd in seeking for a lowly animal, which had probably been frozen on the glazier, how is it that I am so indifferent in seeking my sheep?” The transformation or regeneration through the Lord Jesus Christ does not terminate at sonship, but at shepherdship. The grace that transforms a sinner into a saint is the same that transforms a saint into a shepherd. Immediately a person is saved, he becomes a minister of reconciliation and an ambassador of Christ. As ambassador of Christ, it is the responsibility of every believer to reach out to people on the street with the good news of salvation which comes through the blood of Jesus Christ. When normal services like electricity, roads, water, fuel and so on, are in short supply, people accuse the government of incompetence. Similarly, when souls are not saved, angels in heaven accuse ministers of the gospel of incompetence. The early Church converts were more earnest than today’s believers. Despite persecutions, they went everywhere preaching the Word. But today’s believers are busy going everywhere looking for miracles. Every believer is saved to serve. There is something fundamentally wrong when believers exploit the gospel for personal gains and self-serving motives. The gospel has the power to transform the sinner into a saint. Therefore, we cannot afford to fail God in this responsibility. THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Christ’s ambassadors are those who serve Him in season and out of season. ***Share your thoughts and what you've just learnt in the comments section below. Daily Manna: “The Lord, He Is God” Monday 09, September 2013 TEXT: DEUTERONOMY 4:25-49 KEY VERSE: “Unto thee it was shewed, that thou mightest know that the LORD he is God; there is none else beside him” (Deuteronomy 4:35). Bishop Beveridge gave a wonderful illustration of one of the names by which God chose to call Himself, “I AM”. “He does not say, I am their light, their guide, their strength, or tower, but only “I AM”. “He sets, as it were, His hands to a blank, that His people may write under it what they pleased that is good to them. As if He should say: Are they weak? I am strength. Are they poor? I am riches. Are they in trouble? I am comfort. Are they sick? I am health. Are they dying? I am life. I am wisdom, power, justice, mercy, grace, goodness, glory, beauty, holiness, eminency, perfection, all-sufficiency, eternity. Jehovah, I am!” In the previous passage, God warned the children of Israel against the sin of idolatry. God told them that He would not tolerate any rivalry from any god because He was a jealous God. But the Omniscient God foreknew the mischief and the unfaithfulness in their hearts. He forewarned them that when they must have settled down in the Promised Land, and decided to be unfaithful and forgetful, He also would punish their mischief and send them on exile to the land of their enemies. Yet the mercy, love and compassion of God would not allow “any to perish, but that all should come to repentance”. He gave a solemn promise that if they realized their folly early, humbled themselves, and returned to the worship of God, He would gladly receive them back to His bossom. Is it not the same promise He has given to us in the New Testament? Men are wont to describe certain sins as unpardonable, but with God, the only sin that is unpardonable is the refusal and reluctance to repent of one’s sin. There is no reason then to despair of any known sin. Go to the great “I Am” today in repentance, and He will receive, pardon and justify you. THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: God’s mercy is reserved for the penitent. ***Share your thoughts and what you've just learnt in the comments section below. Don't forget to SHARE |

Well its possible but the fact is that half or more of the power generated from the machine will have to go back to the circuit involved in charging back the battery to continue the process so what you have left can only power little equipment which is almost a waste compared to the result you want to achieve so therefore efficiency of the machine is not encouraging after much ado. |

Daily Manna: Infallibility Of God’s Promises Sunday 08, September 2013 TEXT: 2 CHRONICLES 6:1-11 KEY VERSE: “The LORD therefore hath performed his word that he hath spoken: for I am risen up in the room of David my father, and am set on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised, and have built the house for the name of the LORD God of Israel” (2 Chronicles 6:10). F.B. Meyer once noted, “God’s promises are ever on the ascending scale. One leads up to another, fuller and more blessed than itself. In Mesopotamia, God said, “I will show thee the land”. At Bethel, “This is the land”. In Canaan, “I will give thee all the land, and children innumerable as the grains of sand.” It is thus that God allures us to saintliness. Not giving us anything till we have dared to act – that He may test us. Not giving everything at first - that He may not overwhelm us. And always keeping in hand an infinite reserve of blessing. Oh, the unexplored remainders of God! Who ever saw His last star?” Solomon built a magnificent temple for the worship of God as conceived and planned by David his father. The construction was supervised and ordered by Solomon, but the conception and vision came from David the king. Basking in the euphoria of the victories God granted him over all the enemy nations all around Israel, David was determined to show gratitude to God by building a temple to house the newly recovered ark of the LORD from the Philistines. He confided in Nathan the prophet, who initially gave him a go-ahead. But, God reversed his counsel. Nathan came later to David to give the true counsel of God. David was not permitted to build the temple because of his involvement in all the wars against the Gentiles, but his son Solomon would build the temple. David rejoiced all the same for the unmerited favours of God on him and his house. About forty (40) years later, Solomon fulfilled the prophecies to the letter, indicating the infallibility of God’s promises. God watches over every single promise in the Scriptures to fulfill them in the lives of His children. Ours is to have unshakable faith in those promises. The Bible is replete with faith in and fulfillments of the promises of God. Have faith in those promises and you will sooner than later possess what you confess. THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: God says what He means, and means what He says. ***Share your thoughts and what you've just learnt in the comments section below. Don't forget to SHARE |
Daily Manna: Victory At Last! Saturday 07, September 2013 TEXT: 2 SAMUEL 5:1-10 KEY VERSE: “So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a league with them in Hebron before the LORD: and they anointed David king over Israel” (2 Samuel 5:3). Charles Kinsley, a writer once said: “Do you feel that you have lost your way in life? Then God Himself will show you your way. Are you utterly helpless, worn-out, body and soul? Then God’s eternal love is ready and willing to help you up, and revive you. Are you wearied with doubts and terrors? Then God’s eternal light is ready to show you your way; God’s eternal peace ready to give you peace. Do you feel yourself full of sins and faults? Then take heart; for God’s unchangeable will is to take away those sins and purge you from those faults.” At last, David arrived at the palace to reign and rule over all the tribes of Israel. But, it was a tortuous yet divinely orchestrated journey. Major authorities of the Bible accept that he was between sixteen and seventeen years old when Prophet Samuel anointed him king over Israel in place of Saul, who had disappointed God as king over Israel. Between the anointing and the coronation (at the age of 30), God needed to take David through the “University of adversity”, not to crush him, but to strengthen him, and build up his spiritual muscles for the coming major assignments. Envious and jealous of the grace of God upon David, King Saul chased and harassed him from one end of the country to the other in order to get rid of him. Saul destroyed the High Priest with his whole city full of priests, just to get at David. It came to a point when David decided to relocate across the border to the territory of the Philistines, the land of the enemies! On the eve of Saul’s death, David lost everything he ever possessed in Ziklag. He prayed to God, pursued the enemy and recovered all that he lost. The next day, he became king over Judah. Ultimately, he became king over all Israel, despite all the antics of Saul. What then are you passing through today? Stop fretting, but relax and see how God will take you successfully through the wilderness of life. THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The Lord knows the way through the wilderness. ***Share your thoughts and what you've just learnt in the comments section below. Don't forget to SHARE |
