Fury can get punished alot if he tries the leaning of weight method against a boxer good with uppercuts.

Boxing is not uppercut. You cant uppercut someone leaning on you just like that. It doesnt work like that. You can only give someone an uppercut if they are really tired and then you can push them back a little and take the cut.

Fury can take punches and duck too. AJ cant take punches. He is glass.

You cant put both Fury and AJ in the same sentence. They are worlds apart. Even Wilder will batter AJ mercilessly!

They just want to make reality go away and for people to live only in the matrix
Politics / Segun Ajibola And His Harakirius Pekelemes! by historyles: 10:10am On Sep 23, 2021
I read a topic on the nairaland frontpage titled "Segun Ajibola: Average Nigerian Can Feed With ₦500, Naira Still Strong" and I just couldn't get out the words "Dem don come again oh!" out of my head. So I started to muse on it. I thought to myself, what could be fueling these kind of strange articles or statements from people who are supposed to be intellectuals?

Is it greed? Is it some mental challenge? Is it just pure unbridled sycophancy? Or is it a combination of all three and more?

To understand what the real issue is, I decided to play the devil's advocate for a moment and see where they are coming from and possibly, where they are going to. These are my thoughts.

Let's play dumb for a minute. He stated two simple claims. First was that Nigerians can now eat with ₦500. Second was that the Naira is strong. Are any of these true? Let's see.

What can ₦500 get you in an average Nigerian city. Hmmm? That will be a plate of eba or amala or fufu with a piece of meat at some local restaurant, and maybe, extra Eba or fufu. But what is the quantity of this ₦500 food. A wrap of eba or fufu that is about the size of an average wrist. The present size is like a third of the size 6 years ago. Yes! Just six years ago here. I am not even going to go back 20 or more years because that will not even be a fair or serious comparison. The difference will be too astronomical! This ₦500 quantity can barely satisfy an average adult. If you are not a heavy eater, maybe the extra eba or fufu will do. But then comes the first problem...

Does the statement by Segun Ajibola assume that we are all single men or women in Nigeria? Maybe Segun he didn't think this through, but an average family in Nigeria is at least, four people or more. So by his own logic, the average family will need ₦2000 to have a single meal in NIgeria. ₦2000 in a country where minimum wage (more like average wage) is ₦30,000 a month. Some people still earn ₦10,000 a month but let me not even go there yet! It will be too sad!

So a worker earning ₦30,000 a month with a family of four, will be able to have 30000 / 2000 = 15 meals a month. 15 meals a month at two meals a day (a.k.a 101), is 7 days. Yes! Even at Segun Ajibola's glorious prosperity-gospel-like calculation, the average family will be able to feed for only 7 days at two meals a day! Wow! Glory! To borrow the words of the blabber grammarian Rep, Patrick Obahiagbon from Edo state, this is a Harakirius Pekelemes of gangantuan propensity!

Segun must be living in some Marvel or DC alternate universe or in reverse Flash crossover mode for him to think that an economy that only provides enough income for a man to feed his family for only 7 days in a month, is a great economy with a strong currency!

I saw somewhere that he is a chattered Accountant? I wouldn't even employ this guy to man a cashiers desk, let alone do serious accounting. But then, he might just be the usual government sycophant who sings halleluiah, hosannah, to help government deflect the people from reality. These generation of government whitewashers continue to try to blur the lines between reality and fantasy just because of the pecks they receive at their various priviledged stations.

They think they can make the suffering go away with continous propaganda and whitewashing but they are simply postposting the day of reckoning. Instead of them to come down to reality, do a serious self and societal appraisal and get down to the business of serious leaderhip, governance and societal transformation, they are trying to create their own Wanda Vision story lines and Video game society where they cannot see evil even when it is right at their feet.

But what they don't realise is that, ultimately, if the clock refuses to tell the time, the time will eventually tell the clock.

A word is enough for the wise

Hello my nairaland family. I'll make this post short & precise... I buried my dad around april this year.

Am the only available child, as my elder brother relocated abroad in january & has refused to make contact. I took a loan to sponsor my bro's trip abroad, & also took another loan from my bank to partly sponsor the burial as all the family burden rested on my shoulders..

Last month, my dad appeared in a dream telling me to hurry up in paying a vow he made in church of abt 50k before he died. I was warming up to pay the vow this month's ending as am stil servicing the loans i got from my bank.

He appeared last week to remind me but yesterday night's own came with severe flocking. Am stil feeling the pains from the cain he used at my back & joints..

How do i contain him before month end when i'll be bouyant to pay the vow.

Am afraid he may return with more beatings,. & am jst 30yrs old, & wouldnt want to have any part of my body deformed as a result.

Your suggestions wil be greatly appreciated!

This is nonsense and unscriptural and I am surprised some folks are encouraging you in this nonsense superstition. You need to stop this because if you allow these kind of superstitions rule you, it will never stop.

The next time, it will be your uncle or something else or your dad's vow to some other church program.

Just stop please. nothing is wrong with you apart from your superstition. If it appears to you again, ask him to give you the money and the transport fare to get there or else he should leave you alaone. It isnt even your dad that is appearing to you. Its some familair spirit that is just trying to torment you for nothing and you are falling for it. You need to meet Jesus Christ and be saved

What OP has described is simply the cost of living.

The cost of living to income ratio is relatively higher in Nigeria no doubt. Our standard of living is also lower.

However cost of data is cost of data and it is cheaper in Nigeria than in many countries

Cost of living is cost of purchasing goods and services oga. What are you saying?

The least worker in Nigeria don't even earn 30k a month. Some domestic workers still earn as little as 7k to 10k a month. Many states are still paying 18k a month? How much is the government offering for even npower again? 30k? How many people even see 30k? Even banks still pay some of their staff 40k month and you are talking. SMH

Your analysis is so wrong. You type like someone that always visit the local market to bargain price.

But who told you 8 dollars for a gb data isn't expensive in the United states, you type like everybody in America is rich enough to afford an expensive data.

So you are saying that because America is a rich country, expensive data will be seen as cheap data because of purchasing power, so no Americans will want a cheaper data or even try to save money or cut cost.

According to your logic, you are also saying sellers in america put prices on goods because of purchasing power, something close to, lets put high price because they can afford it, to be sincere, that is not logical. lot of factors influence cost of goods and services not purchasing power.

Also, purchasing power does not determines what is cheap and expensive, purchasing power determines the quantity of goods and services that can be bought with your currency in the local market.

For instance, the naira has more purchasing power than than the dollar, with 2000 naira, you can buy atleast something tangible in Nigeria when compared to the dollar equivalent of the 2000 naira ( 4 dollars) in the United states.

You said the naira has more purchasing power than the dollar? Na night school you attend?

In the central Africa republic it is even higher.it takes one quarter of your monthly income to buy one gig. And that country is poorer than us.

Plus most Nigerians don't even use the internet anyway.

For the last time, compared to other countries data is cheap here.

Or you want free data? Then how will all the data providers pay their staff and contractors who are ordinary Nigerians like you.

Sorry if it pains you

Have you ever been to Ghana? I doubt! I have!
Ghanaians more comfortable than Nigerians? We have the poor all over the world. Even Christ said the poor will always be with us! That fuel you think is expensive at 165 is smuggled out of Nigeria and sold at a higher price in all our neighbors! Why? The official price of PMS in those countries are a lot higher than in Nigeria!
Nigeria produces more than 50% of the GDP of the whole of West Africa and you think some countries are more comfortable than Nigerians? Ghana's minimum wage was recently increased and it is laughable! Ask how much they pay for power and house rent! Well, human being don't value what they have untill they lose it. We also think the grass is greener on the other side!

You are either very ignorant or just lie to push your points. A Ghanaian can pay their monthly house rent easily while living comfortably for the rest of the month. If most Nigerians pay house rent monthly, they will starve for the rest of the month.

Fuel is cheaper in Nigeria than in the United states but both are oil producing nations

Why is that? Is it also because of purchasing power or cost of labour

I don't think you understand basic points but let me explain it in a layman way. It is someone who is buying something that expresses that the thing is either expensive or cheap to them. It is not the seller that claims such. The seller will actually cl it a fair price but it is the buyer that says it is expensive. And the reason it is expensive to the buyer is that the buyer is considering what he or she has in their pocket to spend. So its the purchasing power that determines what is expensive or cheap. To a millionaire, for example, the so called expensive stuff may look very cheap. That is why, to an American, $8 for data looks cheap, not expensive

The cost of data in Malawi is $27 In Nigeria it is $1.31...for the same one gig

Then the minimum wage in both countries is the same.

In Chad it is $23...where their minimum wage is N47000 Or 116 dollars.

The cost of 1 g data in the Central African republic can chop one quarter of your income.....here in Nigeria it is much less.

I think the problem is, anyone who points out the fact that data is cheap in Nigeria is perceived as arguing for higher prices. That's not true.

Anyway, the argument we should really be having is the modalities they use in setting the price for data. That's what we should be asking.

Modified

OP is being clever by half. He compared Nigeria to the US...meanwhile, there are many African countries that charge higher for data than even the USA....and OP did not put them on his list because he knows it would defeat his argument..especially as minimum wage in many African countries is about the same as, or less than Nigeria..

Modified

If you are hurt by my argument, don't be. I am not arguing for higher prices. So calm down. If we want lower prices, we need to have more GSM companies come in to invest.

Your argument is funny. How is Nigeria being cheaper or same as Malawi or Sudan a good thing? Doesn't that prove my point more? That we are as bad as the worst countries in the world?

I see the same argument over DSTV prices. Nigeria has the cheapest DSTV rates in Africa...yet tell some people, and they will start screaming.

You don't need to point out to anyone that it is cheap or not. They can see it from the way it bites their pocket. Your logic that you need to explain people's experiences to them is laughable. They can see its expensive because it consumes all they have and leaves very little for other things

This is statistical abuse.

First, OP mischieviously compared US "average wage" to Nigeria's minimum wage.
In reality, the US minimum wage is about $1260 per month.

Secondly, it is illogical to compare total data that a minimum wage can buy when the two
countries do not have similar data consumption habit.

A better comparison would be common items such as tax, transport and housing.

If you do the math, you will see that Nigeria comes up on top.

The first thread remains true to its message that Nigeria's data is much cheaper.

30k is not Nigeria's minimum wage. Its the average wage. Most SMEs pay around 30k to 40k. Only few 5op organisations pay more. And only the FG and some states have been paying this to workers in the public sector.

But even if I agree with you and use your own figures, it still doesn't take away from the point as it only makes it a little bit better. Nigeria still ends up on the high side

Next time when you calculate the average income, also calculate the average cost of living. Do Nigerians spend $1,000 per WEEK on rent? What about other basic things.

Even if you come to rent, it's the same thing. The average American can pay his rent of $1000 from his salary and still have enough money to feed for the rest of the month. The average Nigerian, on the other hand, we need to save up all of his 1 month or more salary to pay for his rent

No matter how you look at it, it's just too expensive in Nigeria

Phones / Cost Of Data In Nigeria Is Very High. Not Cheap by historyles: 1:39pm On Sep 09, 2021
Someone did a thread showing the cost of data around the world in Dollars and some concluded from the thread that Data is cheap in Nigeria. This is not true at all. Data in Nigeria, like many other things, e.g. fuel. food stuff, is not cheap, but expensive. Very expensive!

Those who make these comparisons are only pushing out a false narrative based on false comparisons. What makes a product cheap or expensive is not the price tag on the product but the purchasing power of the buyers. Let's take a simple example.

In the USA, cost of 1GB of data is, according to the data available, $8.00, while in Nigeria, cost of 1Gb of data is around $2.3. Nigeria looks cheaper right? Wrong!

Someone looks at this as then says data is cheaper in Nigeria. But that is a wrong conclusion from a false comparison. The simple way to know which is cheaper is to bring in the buying power of the buyers.

In the USA, the average wage per month is $2730, while in Nigeria, the average wage is N30000 = $58. So without looking too far, a Nigerian who collects his wage will be able to purchase with his full salary, 58 / 2.3 = 25GB, while an American who collects his wage will be able to purchase, with his full salary, 2730 / 8.00 = 341GB

So how is it cheaper for the Nigerian? In fact, A Nigerian who collects minimum wage will spent it all on one bag of rice and transport home while an American who collects his minimum wage can buy 20 bags of rice and still have lots of change left.

I can go on and on and on, comparing products and services but the point is clear. Don't let anyone fool you that anything is cheap in Nigeria. Things are astronomically expensive in Nigeria right now

Some of you are really becoming ridiculous. Did it ever occur to you that a thread like this should have been an opportunity to testify of the integrity, honesty, graciousness and kindness of pastors? That you are scared it will be an opportunity to bash pastors is an admittance that modern Nigerian pastors have become a bad testimony to Christianity.

I actually was looking forward to testimony after testimony of how pastors have shown great examples of what it truly means to be a Christian but instead, it is disappointing comments like yours that I see. We need a real revival and repentance in the Nigerian church and may God purge His own
