Mitigating circumstances. . . . first of all, Bassong only really played the last half of the season. . . . second of all, Habib Beye missed half the season. . . . thirdly, Damien Duff played the whole season at left-back. . . . not exactly the kind of protection from the flanks required. . . . finally, when Nicky Butt is the only holding midfielder in front of you, you're gonna have problems. . . . the boys were left terribly exposed, but they will come good eventually.

You guys can forget about Hangeland. . . . he is happy playing Europa league with Fulham and Roy Hodgson showed a lot of faith in him. . . . it will take £12m to get him and AW will baulk at that. . . . .it is more likely that Sebastian Bassong will join the Arses. . .

I dont know why everyone is worrying about transfer rumours!

I just come back at the start of the season and see who is wearing which team's shirt!

Game on tongue
@ Brash
Very true!
See a footie fan's opinion of transfer gossips:

Right, here are the latest transfer rumours going round today.

Adebayor's possible move to Chelsea is off. Arsenal value the striker at £30m, but Chelsea refuse to go above £25m.

Samir Nasri's impressive first season at Arsenal has sparked interest from Real Madrid, who are thought to be preparing a £20m bid for him.

Arsenal have been given permission to speak to Gareth Barry, who is said to be interested in a move to North London.

Johan Djourou could be on his way out from Arsenal due to a lack of first-team appearances this season, with West Ham and Man City possible destinations.

Arsene Wenger has been given the green light to make a move for Spanish striker David Villa.

Should Steve Bruce be named Sunderland manager, he will try to make Arsenal youngster Jay Simpson his first signing.

Cesc Fabregas, recently linked with Barcelona, has re-iterated his desire to stay with Arsenal.

Right. Just to let you know, none of these "rumours" are actually true. If truth be told, I made all of them up.

Why?

To demonstrate how easy it is to make up a "rumour". Journalists do it all the time, and 95% of what they say will happen doesn't
.

Example: In the BBC gossip column a few days ago it said Emmanuel Eboue could be leaving Arsenal. Now this is just stupid - If Wenger wanted him to go, he'd have got rid of him last season. Wenger wouldn't be getting rid of him just as he's starting to play consistently well.

So, to conclude: Don't believe anything you read.
Thankyou.

And by the way, have any of you heard the latest rumour about Wayne Rooney's head?

Don't worry, there's nothing in it,
grin grin grin grin grin grin

I am going by your Postulations.
Titi left because he wanted to win the UCL, not because of any messy divorce case.
Now that he's won, what is the next step?
Go back to France and retire in his Paris mansion(afterall he has achieved his life ambition)
Come back to Arsenal and be a coach, since he's a Gunner at heart!
You guys make me laugh.
My point is that, y'all are making it look like Henry is still a top dog(in CR7 and Messi's league)
and he left Arsenal to go and win the CL with Barcelonalike he was sold for 40 million huh
That logic sounds all so silly.
People close to him and also close to the club all know why he left.
Anyway, the Arsenal remains come what may.
He's a legend and loves the club inside out
BlueDiva:
All this talk about sudden respect for Henry is trash.

feel you bro and I'm not saying he never won anything with arsenal. Neither did I say he is not a gunner (at heart) wink . . .

Point is, he, only won what I presume he wanted most only yesterday. Had Arsenal won it 3 years ago, he'd still be at the Emirati by now. He left 'cos he couldn't just see his future with The Arses anymore. He left because Arsenal is simply going down the ladder and could not give him what he desired most.
Didn't you just read what I wrote.

did u hear about his divorce case? and how messy it was

It was the real reason why he left and not that he couldn't win the CL with Arsenal

The same Henry that captained them to a CL finalhuh?

Come on!

If we had won it 3 years ago, he wouldn't still be at the Emirates.

He can't possibly play for Arsenal forever anyway.

Meanwhile, when he was leaving, his form had dipped and I am sorry to say this, he was just like a passenger on the field and was just strolling around.

He only rediscovered his form this season. lipsrsealed

Meanwhile, I am surprised by all these accolades for Henry.

You guys are the same fans who hated and despised him when he was at Arsenal and said all sorts about him

Now that he went to Barca, he has suddenly become the greatest player after Pele and Maradona huh huh huh

Offtopic: Now we all know why Titi left the Arses. He was convinced that they are unlikely to win anything again for years to come.
We all know why Titi left Arsenal.
he couldn't handle the messy divorce thing and the probing media.
In case, you didn't know,Titi(like many ex Arsenal players) has Arsenal blood running through him.
He follows Arsenal more than many supporters.
Heard he even follows the Youth set up
Never misses their matches.
He has never said anything bad about the Arsenal and chooses every opportunity to declare himself a Gunner for life!
You make it look like he never won anything at Arsenal.(2 Epl.3 Fa cup medals)
he led a young team to the finals of the CL about 3 years ago and had he buried that gilt edge opportunity he had in the finals,
he would have won the medal he craved for three years ago and not yesterday.!
