Why are they not accused of theft, fraud, e.t.c?

If we say it's witch-hunting, then how have other tribes escaped witch-hunting in other countries?
Of course you won't see the ones being killed in SA. Or the ones that are running amork in the UK. grin.

May his soul rest in peace. I think his death should be investigated and those responsible should face the music.

More ever the woman's claim should be verified as well if true the death guy should be convicted posthumously and let his estate pays restitution to the woman that does not absolve the murder from their crimes they also should pay for their crimes.

People should be able to get justice even in death while the victim should also be able to get justice even from a dead offender.

I personally prefer africa looks towards china than west for business....
We just need to resolute n firm with them....
Chinese are ruthless but they lack the institutional capacity to bully or sanction u....
If u stand your ground...they will bend or leave anyway....

The truth is the west don't understand Africa, despite dealing with us for 50 years....
And they don't want to understand...
Also their interest in Africa is more or less directed towards social responsibility n aids....

What africa need is investment, trade n manufacturing capability.....
Look at the list above n tell me in the current global dispensation....
Who can deliver btw China n western nation...

I think we need to be pragmatic in finding ways to solve our problem....we shouldn't attach too much emotion to our development....

West always insist establishment of independent democratic institution is a pre requisite to development....
But China has made it clear economic development n entrenchment of democratic institution can happen simultaneously without impeding on the other....
This is the truth west has hidden from us for years.....
Your points are apt but I think you are over stretching the truth by saying that China has shown the world that development and democratic institution can happen simultaneously. There is no democracy as we know it in China. China has made it know that democracy isn't their cup of tea, do I appreciate their "honesty" about that yes I do.

Do I think that in a saner clime where politicians are held accountable that what is best for such a state is to borrow from China? Of course I do ( the west are indebted to China but the west has an inbuilt mechanism of checking not just the excesses of China but ensuring that whatever deal they strike with China is in the interest of their people). China don't play by the books the more rotten a system is the better for China.

Let me paint a picture of my concerns. All the dirt and not so good deal Nigeria struck with the west eventually become a matter of public knowledge. These deals are made public not my Nigerians or Nigerian government but citizens of the west for instance Halliburton scandal was blown open by the western media. We got to know of most of looted treasure thanks to the west.

Do you believe that Chinese people will in this life time blown open the rot going on between China and corrupt politicians in Africa that signed away our future just for a kick back?

I don't know if you read in between lines the message that came out from the ongoing investigation about the treatment of Nigerians in China. That was pathetic.

I for one sees the involvement of the west as a way of curbing the excess of our corrupt politicians. North Korean is being shield by China imagine how bad our country would have been( given how fantastically corrupt our politicians are) if the west turn a blind eye just like China is doing wherever they go.

I detest Obama for his interference in the BBOG saga but if not for their involvement many of us wouldnt have known what went down in Chibok. if I may ask where was the Chinese in all of this?

Do you think that the Chinese will ever call out any of our thieving politicians of course not. But because of the involvement of the west we have been able to call them out.

If not for the west people like Sowore will be sent to camp for brainwashing and re-education and nothing someone like you and I would say about it and believe me China won't even bother.

In fact if China would have its way the day you try to complain about our corrupt politicians over the phone your call will be disconnected. grin

Whom did you think was engineering your senators to pass the hate speech act and where did you think they got their playbook from?

blaming Chinese for Tanzanian stupidity is unfair, Tanzania has no economic plans for port being built, untop of that they also have no tangible collateral , so the only seciurity the chinese get for their loan is simply to build the Ports and manage it themselves, recoup their investment and transfer the infrastructure to Tazania this is smart and win win for both countries

Chinese loans allowing terms of agreement to favour chinese contractors and expertrate is also a smart move, why borrow from them and move wuropean contractors on site to milk the project? point remains do they deliver standard project at lower cost than what Julius berger would charge? the answer is yes

if Nigeria has no right to concern itself with corruption in US or China both has no right to interfere in our National affiars as long as all loan are folowed to the
ast full stop

If China where bad as you claimed, highest part of US debt wouldnt be held by the same Chinese they are demonizing

as for illegal minners littering Nigeria, this has nothing to do with the loan, but more with our immigration laws, CCECC chinese consortium handles most of their projects, and Nigerian Government only issues their staffs work permit Visa, all countries issuing work permit have mechanism to enforce such visa, but Nigeria dont bother, again you can get simple visiting visa into nigeria and start working without any question, when ever you are going back you aint stopped and charge for overstaying Visa ... so why blame them

Nigeria needs all the loan we can get at lowest interest like what chines are offering for infrastructurer development.. we dont need west telling us what to do and how to do it

.
Chinese loan and terms of agreement with the US can never be the same as their agreement with African countries. I am sure you will agree with me to a large extend that the terms of agreement depends on the balance of power among the partners.

As at today most African countries do not have the cloat to extract favorable deal from any lender. China being a prime example of predatory lender has capitalized on that to sale African the worse deal they could ever imagine.

You talked about quality of Chinese work, I don't even what to go into that. I know the Chinese do quality work when tasked for it for instance the products the produce for the west are of good quality. Just because the west have regulations.

I know at this point you would argue why we should blame the Chinese for the failings of our system? My answer to that is this: the west is one of the country where people take to the street to call their leaders to other and condemn them for their ethical business practices in Africa. Do you think anyone in China is going to take to the street and protest against the Chinese government by asking to be fair to the "monkeys" across the otherside of the globe?

As for the Tanzania deal you remember I said from a purely business sense your position on whom to blame is apt but from humanitarian perspective business is not just about winners and losers it is also about the moral implications of your actions. You know there is a reason bank get punished for lending to someone whom the bank knows isn't capable of paying back?

Our immigration law are non existence how many western citizens have been caught mining illegally in Nigeria? It is about the moral value of the people you do business with that matters.

We are being given back Abacha "funds" because it ended in the West do you think we will ever hear of it had ended up in the east?

The east has no regards for human value more especially for the African continent as such doing business with them will hurt us more in the long run than the extra cost of borrowing elsewhere.

When it comes to human right Chinese score low at all level and you think this same set of people actually have your best interests at heart ( I am not saying the west does but the west operate a system that allows people even Africans to voice out their displeasure and to a large extend get some supports from the citizens. That can never be said of the Chinese).

Tell me one country where China is actually at the forefront of supporting the cause of the oppressed? Rather they are entrenched in countries with dictatorial stlye of leadership where the leaders will take any contract given to them by China without questions asked knowing that this corrupt leaders are desperate for cash to stay afloat being cut off by country with reasonable sets of morals.

Sorry I am all over the place. Will edit later have to go now. Stay safe bro and hope to read your great insight later.

China isnt trying to be anybody's big brother, they regard us as an independent soveriegn state.. unlike America that would ban Arm Sales because of Gay Right and openly lie that Jonathan was demonizing and abusing the rights of Boko haram..

Look at the condition of the grants IMF just granted us? they pratically want us to have single forex window, drop subsidy and impose many trash on us, they are even advocates of opening our borders... China on the other hand would ask you to sign an agreement stating your collateral, tenure of loan, your own counterpart fund to the project, and where the money would be escrowed and released in phases to contractors after completion of each phase

In everywhere Chinese had done better busines with us than the West, we had asked G.E of US to come help us fix power at mambila, we asked them to help with rail, they dodged us because they clearly dont want development in africa so as not to threaten their exploit of our resources, china had picked up this contruction funded the project and gave a single digit intrest rate on loan tenure lasting 20-25 years

can you compare how Ebay and other western auction site treat us like criminals and how aliexpress and alibaba regard us? with the way US media label us cybercriminal are we even on the top 10 list on cybercriminals headed by US and Uk hackers?

for me oo, i prefer chinese to the west

.
Did you read the news of what is going on in Tanzania with the deal China signed with them?

China isn't asking anyone to open their border because with Chinese loan China gets access to and control the very port in question ( taking Tanzania as an example) in which case there is no need to ask for open border because they are the border "police".

Have you asked yourself how it is possible for us to have had several cases of Chinese "illegal" miners littered all over Nigeria?

Because all th deals we signed with China as a caveat that says Chinese will produce a certain percentage of the manpower needed to excite the project. This does not only give them the opportunity to repatriate a huge percentage of the money being loaned you it also allows them easy access within the country.

As per China not getting into our affairs the answer to that is obvious. China know that the more rot in the system the bigger their pay day.

The only way most of the deals China has in Africa was even possible was as a result of the corrupt system we have.

Have you heard of Chinese government investigations of claims of corruption being perpetrated by Chinese companies out here? Of course it was before our very own eyes that we witness the investigation of Halliburton and Siemens.

yes Nigeria isnt has rich s some state in US especially california, however in Africa in terms of who is more bankable, interms of GDP , Population, resouces Nigeria still holds the ace, so only a foolish bank would chase one of its major shareholder, and by far the highest customer, for US who dont borrow or partronize them but are merely investors..

if Nigeria stops borrowing from AfDB and we head to China EXIM bank that ofers very lowintrest rate do you think the other mushroom african countries can borrow from AfDB for it to have a profitable business
China may offer the best rate but as it stands today doing business with China is not in the best interests of Africa.

Of the two evil I will chose the west anytime over China.

Let's agree that this is a false call and should been seen as a witch hunt. The west may have their agenda but somewhere within their nefarious activities their ideology allows them to throw in a sense of decorum and they act well every now and then.

Can you tell me anywhere where China has called out or try to call our the rots going on among the political class in countries where they do business?

From a purely business perceptive which you hinge your points on you are 100 percent correct and I am not going to fault any of your claims.

But for us it should not be, we should look at the long term and all round implications of every single partnership African goes into. Infact it is time we start reviewing our existing partnerships with the world.

I have to acknowledge that we were rail roaded into most of the one sided relationship we have with the west but with China it seems we are foolishly walking into it.

Interest. The United States is the largest shareholder in the IMF and World Bank as well as the highest non-African shareholder in AfDB. Adesina has been expediting loan requests to African countries which caused the World Bank President to complain that Adesina's actions increase the debt portfolio of African countries (actually, Adesina's style causes the African countries to reduce loan requests to World Bank and IMF). To put him in check and protect US investments in AfDB and African geopolitics through US creditor power, Adesina has to be kicked out.

PS: For your second question, no African countries own shares in the European Central Bank or European Commission or European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and no EU or African country owns shares in US Federal Reserve Bank (no law would permit it), so they can't put their mouth in how those institutions are run.

One lapse too is that AfDB loans are denominated in dollars. So the US can sanction them for "misusing the dollars". An unrelated example is that UBS (the largest Swiss Bank) paid $780 million to the United States government for helping US citizens hide their money abroad thereby evading taxes and attempting to impede the role of the Internal Revenue Service, i.e., what the United States is doing interfering in AfDB, they won't allow anyone try it with their own institutions. Yet, Africans gave them too much power. Perhaps, it is time to denominate AfDB loans in selected African currencies and find a way to buy out the United States.
I understand your points but just to point out that ECB and US federal reserve are our equivalent of CBN so I will be shocked and embarrassed if FGN has given out CBN "shares" to other countries.

Of course AfDB wouldn't have had the US as the major players if African leaders had kept their houses in order.

Yes I detest the hawkish behaviour of the West and East but at the same time I blame Africa for failing to put her acts together.

I laugh in Swahili!

The 'political toddler', ungrateful clown, called Godwin Obaseki, should start preparing to return to Ikoyi, Lagos.

Just like his grandfather betrayed the Oba of Benin, who made him a prominent Chief and handed the Oba of Benin to the colonial masters for annihilation, is this a curse for Obasekis to betray their benefactors?

After consistently insulting Oshiomhole personally and through his retinue of appointees, who ordinarily are 'political babies' to Oshiomhole, he's running everywhere in the night begging. It's too late to cry when the head is cut off!

You shut out 14 (a whole 14!) members of the House of Assembly, who are your fellow party members for almost 4 years!

You went on a demolition spree against enemies within your own party!

You, everyday, kept on insulting and abusing the man who practically did ALL your campaign to be Governor, who lost his own long-term friends and associates because of you!

I do not care whatever you have with Oshiomhole, all I know is that an INGRATE is wicked! Ingratitude is a huge character flaw- a huge MINUS!

I recall when some people in Kwara State urged immediate past Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed to betray Bukola Saraki just under one year after he was elected Governor in 2011, Abdulfatah said, I can't forget: "I was a Senior Manager at Guaranty Trust Bank Kano when this man called me and appointed me as Commissioner for Finance and after eight years in his cabinet, he did EVERYTHING to make me Governor, even against his longtime friends. Should I betray such a benefactor? No, I'm not an ingrate, I would not!"

It was the same thing when people told current Governor (Professor) Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State to betray immediate past Governor and current Senator, Kashim Shettima. Zulum said: "This man brought me from the University of Maiduguri as a lecturer and made me Commissioner, he entrusted me with huge resources for the resettlement of IDPs. He also went out of his way, and practically abandoned all those who have been politicians for several decades and picked me, a 'baby politician'. Should I now start insulting the same man? I do not have any strand of ingratitude in my DNA."

Ask Fashola. He used tact and wisdom to manage Tinubu, and he eventually had a smooth 2nd term as Governor and he's a 2-term Minister of the Federal Republic today!
Instead of looking at how the impact of interpersonal relationship between two politicians affect the masses they were elected to serve. Your focus was on how it affects the ego of one of both.

When are we ever going to do anything for the greater good of this country?

I thank God for you. I can relate well, when it comes to relationship abroad, especially with African women. I am experiencing something very similar to this now, the difference is that my wife and children have been living abroad before joining them. I left a good banking job in Nigeria, I think I will share my story later. My advice to you is that please don't look back, go ahead with the divorce. African women have destroyed a lot of men because the laws favour them abroad.
Bros the law favors them but wait till you find yourself a vicious divorce lawyer ( though quite expensive) that your wife will be left with nothing to her name. I have noticed that most men are not as petty as women when it comes to divorce. Men just roll over and wants to put a stop to the fight so as to move on with their lives. Men belive they can always start afresh and make it again. While women belive with having kids their lives are over and they will fight tooth and nail to get everything they can from the men. For men that are willing to see it to the end they always come out on top.
