chimex38:It's a matter of when not if. Global oil consumption would slowly fall off. China per usual would likely be the first to make a major impact going off how the oil consumption in that country have started to stall.Next step, slow to sharp fall in coming years. So far China energy projection is looking at cutting off about 10 million barrels per day from it's consumption in 2 decades. My money would be probably by end of the next decade at the current rate they are moving. The question becomes what industry in alternative energy space is able to build it's capacity to ensure it absorb that much capacity? Three sectors that should absorb the crude oil and derivative demand while switching to clean energy (using china as a base case) : I. Electric Vehicles; from agriculture to every facet of logistics you can think of. Aviation industry may be a tough nut to crack (Palm kennel oil as sustainable fuel may be a serious contender) II. Wind, solar, III.Nuclear IV. Honorable mention metallurgical coal. The approach for searching for areas to invest is to look into public companies in industries listed above for opportunities, we may be unto something. Time would tell. |
Here comes a charlatan under the guise of the name of GOD. Must you lie? Leave the Pulpit if you dont have anything reasonable to say. |
ahead, ahead!!!! good read OP! The question becomes state hunting for tax residency in terms of value for civil responsibility? ![]() TheGoodJoe:hypothetical loophole would be carving a section of the home for home office duties-> rent it out to your legal entitiy -> May need to speak with tax professional for further clarification on legality though. |
toyeoye:Thanks for the consideration. |
@Toyeoye is it possible to include transcripts of NGX AGMs to the webpage? even if it's a premium feature to cover the cost of transcribing the meeting or earnings call or other valuable meetings? |
DeepSight:Unpopular opinion:Truth be told nothing stops Professors and other academician seeking grants if they have laudable research that may lead to profitable patent to augment the income. |
megawealth01:hopefully he gets into a chamber that would nurture his brilliance and it translates into success in litigation and progress of jurisprudence Nigeria and the world at large needs. |
Agreed with some and disagreed with some of the policy spearheaded by HE M.Buhari and the team he built around himself during his tenure. However, respect for sanctity of life and transition of life is sacrosanct. Rest in peace to an elderstateman. ![]() It feels weird to hear he's passed on. All man born of a woman must taste this |
One Lesson to learn from this snakes coming out from mown grass is to always properly document events of yours and your opponents. History rewriters and delusional + wilful ignorant folks abound in this world be it Nigeria or any other part of the world. Nigeria is going through generational turn around that history would look back and be amazed. Yet unfortunate folks keep using lies to distract the main discourse which should be constitutional review deliberation that is ongoing through out the federation. Open your eyes wide, and know when you are been played. Vive L'Nigeria. |
laivwire:No be juju be that? . If it was BRICS and Other African nations that came up with this policy, it would be heart breaking considering the business opportunity they avail, but the usa? This is mostly a reciprocity play to mirror what is obtainable when applying for Nigerian visa. It doesn't skip a beat in the grand scheme of things. Remote interaction (social and work related) should suffice as new normal/ alternative for those such may apply to. God speed to those who seek opportunity there. Also for fellow Nigerians; "acting smart", thinking for self alone in and outside the shores of these land rubs off on everyone. Ultra High networth individuals and political class always have their own set of rules they play by.When next you are overstaying your visa or trying to screw someone else over, remember you are screwing up someone else's chance in the future. Vive l'Nigeria |
This is a welcome development. Hopefully Civil societies , trade unions and the populace keep pressurizing their respective lawmakers to do the needful for their respective zones. If done right, this would be a generational opportunity to shape the constitution that binds us all as a nation. - Tax reforms [done] - Constitution reform - a. state and community based security outfit, b. clear electoral laws to include diaspora voting, c. laws on education (primary secondary, technical ed inclusive all through and tertiary education) d. incorporation of death penalty as penal code for counterfit products in pharmaceuticals/ ag food and construction materials. e. more that can't be listed. Hopefully there's loads of sensitization in our southern and northern region of the country for equity in participation. Vive L'Nigeria. God bless us all. |
Musings for the second half of the year '25. Yet to open a new position since the year 2025 started. Taking time to get a lay of the land across all markets i am exposed to . Accumulation of tashere savings is all she wrote aka Dry Powder season !! . Just studying and lurking for trade ideas. Below are thoughts that should slowly form into positions as the year come to a close.I. Gold - Trying to figure out the underbelly of this beast . China and BRICS seem to be up to something. Wouldn't be surprised if this is similar to Gadaffi's Gold backed idea he wanted AU to adopt. slowly but surely it would make sense. Eyes on Kazakhstan (They seem to be more open about their positions than other Brics Nation), singapore, India, Indonesia, China for info on how their gold reserve fluctuates . Gold miners ( companies with exposure to subsaharan africa countries with active gold mines make the most sense to me atm due to low Cost of production. However, eyes peeled for other location with similar xter.) with ultra low AISC ~ 600 - 900/oz, increased levered cash flow, +\- divy, retained earnings compared to peers are no -brainers to have. Slow and steady coming from been burnt during 2010 era, Allocation approach would be conservative but definitely taking sensible position going forward. II. Oil & Gas Offshore Drillers - This is a niche within a niche, High barrier of entry. Simple approach i am looking at is to scout for companies with advanced tech, sensible R& , and revenue premium from multiyear contracts with client beyond 2027. As the terrain opens up for more energy exploration mostly offshore in light of shale oil reaching it's peak production, this should be a good space for "He who is well prepared in advance takes up all the juicy contracts". Eyes on North American companies in these space.Honorable mention that i am watching for opportunities to pick up when the time is not right on NGX : CWG, Ikeja Hotels, Betaglas |
SonofElElyonRet:oof! at the tongue in cheek / facetious remark in 2! my opinion wasn't combative, it was in light of bouncing off ideas this forum is known for . I do agree with you it's a free world to express opinion.I do apologise for the unsolicited one.. Stay blessed. |
SonofElElyonRet:Unsolicited 2 cents/ view of a Long termer For the sake of all things good and future share holders fund, we would like to see more , even greater meaningful acquisition. IT would definitely pay off. The Financing capacity of most of our financial institutions is/are nothing to write home about when it comes to pulling off mega projects required to bring about growth in commerce. Hence, M&A is one way to go for the kind of growth and financing strength needed. So long the board / committee with oversight function do their due diligence and are not sleeping at the wheel, this would slowly payoff. |
The 180 switch in position is crazy work!!! No be juju be that? apparently OBJ was right about his assessment of El-rufai.. Welcome to Naija politics. If this coalition would make every tier of government sit tight for the betterment of the populacae in terms of enacting sensible and long lasting policies. Let the Fun continue ![]() Nigerians i can never bet against even if it's on house money viz: BAT , Rabiu of BUA, Dangote, Honorable mention Femi otedola. El-rufai aka eniyann kukuru bilisi aka baba elenu sinape aka no permanent foes, permanent interest. |
Olaide1295:unsolicted 2cents from a client, i am not an agent of the firm... Not an excuse for technical issues with app, but man must make moves... When you notice such issue, get across to your account officer via email (This is best to serve as record/reciept incase there's some form of dispute) to place your order and request acknowledgment of receipt. the turn around for response from experience has been relatively Downside: give margin of error for mispricing to ensure you get filled if you are not so specific on pricing. You can use other apps like morgan or the likes to read pricing tape. This should help. |
wanaj0:Welcome back, abeg no wait another eid festival before you visit Nairaland ![]() |
Redoil:Is this like transferring all your personal shares to your company like a gift? if yes, I never got a straight forward answer from a brokerage house i reached out to ask if i can use the transfer form to complete the process (hopefully people in the house can speak more to this based on experience). I guess, the person i spoke with didn't want to be stressed on issues of sort. They just suggested do estate planning to give the right of all your personal shares to your "company or estate"... ( lazy man approach but sensible to a reasonable extent). I would suggest open a new brokerage account in your company name and valid incoporation document. Applicable taxation to your sales of stocks is about 10% capital gain tax on 100 mill within 12 months, the lophole is to reinvest into securities within nigeria (speak with your financial person to get more info on that). Ensure the bank account you have is not a microfinance bank, brokerage firms can be funny with you using them , not sure if that is still the case as of this time of writing (it's been a while i had experience with this). Double check who the signatories would be for proper documentation in the future. Good luck, welcome to the LLC jungle Owo ibu -oko monica ![]() |
gabbyfarms:Quick update: I got some seedling for trial to test if it would thrive, so far it's looking promising. I should have some sprouted seeds in coco peat to part with by first week in August. The germination rate is about 90% from what i have so far. If you are still interested let me know. All i need is you notify me here no DM's If you have GIGL in your part of Nigeria, all i would need is the name of the recipient, phone number, and addrss of GIGL office nearest to you for pick-up. This help keep everybody anonymous. |
Sunrisepebble:good eye oga sunrise. +1 on Fidson, Ikeja hotels position. A week in lagos recently for a different issue actually got me thinking about hospitality/ real estate side of things. Definitely a diamond in the rough for long term buy and forget (speaking for self). eyes out when oga at the top release bonus. Thanks for the heads up on CWG ( looks like it does the work of two companies in one : resourcery and etranzact ). na to check am out fully to see how e dey go ![]() |
Owo ti wo gbo! |
emmaodet:nice TLDR summary, well done ! The burn rate is within expected range. Would be averaging down when tashere change enter hand. |
Thinking out loud, Does the catholic church in nigeria have a biography or documentary on the life of Cardinal arinze ? i have not been able to find any resource in that regards, anyone with a clue kindly notify. Thanks |
Hopefully kyari as well as the NNPC board is/are not the only one to go, there should be more to follow. Due diligence of bringing those found wanting to book. Long overdue! Not an april fool.!. |
gabbyfarms:Bet! ir seedling may be a bit challenging, getting the seed would be the next option for me. I'd notify you whatever i get. |
gabbyfarms:Thanks for the info, I would reach out to a contact for that. |
RodgersAkpafu:I strongly believe the next phase of Naira for crude swap deal would definitely be longer probably through 2027 considering the success of the 6 months trial so far. The challenge the committee would be trying to resolve would be figuring out what the benchmark of crude pricing for this deal would be (oil price in the world market should start to come down from here probably towards 60's or lower ), and figure out how to honour forward swaps arrangement the govt/ NNPC made with Nigeria's creditors. The current administration know that needful must and would be done. As for support, Dangote refinery and local refineries are slowly getting the support they need in the face of multiplicity of greedy interest facing the oil n gas sector. That said, can more be done, of course yes! slow and steady Nigeria is progressing. Viva Nigeria! |
@Gabbyfarms do yo have cinnamon seedling (ceylon and cassia varieties). If not do you have a contact where it can be sourced? thanks for the help. |
KarlTom:Pz shareholders give me joy (dem dey burst my brain as said in naija parlance! ). Stand for what is right however challenging the prospect of success maybe. |
It only make sense for Mods to to flag this post as False / shut it down to avoid spreading fake information. RIP to the Dead! |
Bagwa: Oando PLC has been chosen as the preferred bidder for the lease of the Guaracara refinery. Acting Prime Minister Stuart Young, (also Minister of Energy) said the decision was largely based on Oando’s strong financial track record, particularly its $1.5 billion acquisition of ConocoPhillips’ assets in Nigeria. hopefully. this doesn't end in tears IYKYK ![]() |
JBSSA (publicly listed on Brazil exchange) coming into livestock production and processing sector of the country is a laudable effort considering the size of the project. partnering with FMN (side eye ) as a local player is an interesting play, would have preferred UACN tbh. That said, understudying their action going forward would give more clue than words in print can give for outlook on what the space would look like. Local giant competitors would either try to up the game or cower. |
