Fellow cules,

Oh my lawd, I can't believe its been this long; I have been on a life-definning project that had me both ends and I cld hardly open up my browser although I am permanently online but cldnt do a thingy but I thank God its coming to an end.

Stealthy "the brainy one", chich2pimpy, Khanye, Scantee, Medjai" the wise", eyoniggar, Pharoh, Lord Ajanle, Johny Pee double 8 "the passionate", and odas I sure do miss you guys and the posts, ve been reading and re-reading all your comments since early morning.

So much to talk about and having gone through the threads,am delighted @ the insightful unrivalled posts by all them guys here (and ladies too when they'l show up)

Johniy Pee-double 8 tenks for checking up on moi.

Like someone opined, quite a lot of unravelling revelation, and yesterday confirmed our wing play too nature, like Boss Ajanlekoko noted. Hercules have been a spoiler of sorts to Barca down memory lane and that was more of their tonic than a desire to win and surely when such factor beclouds a team, then they will surely be made to pay against a compact-history-hungry-making side like Barca. Anoder applause for the team is the resilience that a single didgit lead wasn't enough and instead of defending and ball wasting(it was only Valdes that did so once) attacked right up to the last whistle and like Peps philosophy of wearing opponents down with long periods of possession and large doses of patience, it surely payed off, and I observed messi was miffed with himself for not putting away @ least 1(that was a right attitude for a striker and the goals did come, notice that he received a knock/foul to the 2nd goal build up in the 18 yrd box bt he stayed on his feet and like providence always rewards the resilient, the opportunity came across- its reminiscent of Pedro's 2nd goal of the high five drubbing of the eternal rival)

We look for ward to better days and as an aside, the assenHole WenGay bois r really coming up and its doing their confidence a lot of good, wld luv 2 see them in their full strength against us so that the gooners crowd followers wnt hv much excuse to give after they r sent to uefa cup(hpe they'l b entitled to that slot after this round)

*lookn 4wrd to Adebayor's los blancos performance today that is if he deesnt fight his mates @ d Bernabeu(his stock in trade)

It was a well deserved victory but i am not  really impressed with Adriano performance since he joined Barca.our game went flat when Dani got injured.instead

of him to push forward he is always looking for players behind him to pass the ball to,the dude really pissed me off big time.
Well nothing is too big or too small except otherwise by comparison!! Dani-Adriano comparison. The only knot is that they are Brazilians, but miles apart in performance.

One thing that keeps Dani apart is his forays upfront, only lion-hearted players dare such, give him ball and he is off hitting the opponent's LB (I remember that was how Senegalese El Hadji Diouf used to take on 2 to 3 defenders then before his uncouth attitude reduced his performance to average) and his telepathic one-two with Messi most often even along touch line is a delight to see, i reckon we had some wonderful goals from such combo this season. I detest back pass like a leper (that is what our Mikel has speciality in @ Shelsi, give-me-pass-I-give-you-back-ball-no-go-loss-for-my-feet. Pity what J.M turned that guy into)I digress

We have Maxwell too and so many other options for that axis but i will still go for Adriano in the absence of the swashbuckling Brazilian, he has a good right foot backed up with some basic attacking instincts (although i didn't fully watch yesterday's match, just some little pep-up talk from Pep and feed him with  videos of Dani roving back and forth may possibly do the magic

means,he is too vital to let go for some minor salary adjustment.Busquette was not really fantastic and i was expecting Pep to sub him with Mascherano.

Iniesta has perfected his shooting skills after the golden goal he scored in the world cup final,i am happy for him,Pep is making all our players better than the

way he met them,he has made boys  supperstars, pedro,Sergio, jefferen and messi now drop deep in the middle of the pitch to turn to Xavi, the unbelivable

assists he is gotten from last season to date speaks volume for itself.we are no longer predictable like the era of rijjkard,we deffend very well now as the

entire team falls back to help in deffence
.Barca can harm you from anywhere, the interchanges of passes are to quick for our opponent to comprehend, pedro, dani

and villa wont stop running into space to find  opening behind our opponent defence line, messi and iniesta attracting two or more players to themselves to

allow others do the damage while 7 stars general xavi is waiting calmly to pick any lose ball and finish it.Pep is awesome.
omg, you said it all, this was part of what killed off our CL match against Inter, you put it aptly.

We mount pressure and make the opponent lose hope and interest in playing footie, sometimes I bet our opponents would prefer to be spectators, Hope am saying the truth?

There's this English commentator who ran a commentary on a Barca match this month and made use of romantic and x-related anecdotes during the entire duration of the match describing the live performance of the team, cheesy, the thingy cause enuff traffick, if i get the transcript, i will upload it here

I have to say, Cristiano has been fantastic, in solid form this season. He's carried the team this far. This game against Almeria showed clearly that he is really the force behind Madrid. JM will shake up that team in June, if he survives
Yea, the chap is good to an extent. JM as usual is blaming the ref for the loss draw grin and new striker distraction undecided

They fail to recognise the certain  greediness of petulant CR,  we daily see how he struggles to score all the goals and basically the reason? trying to prove hez better than Messi.

He seems to be the cause of Madrid's predicament and he has a guiding mantra:
-1st to shoot
-2nd to dribble
-last to pass or cross if it doesn't favour him to score ( i was pleasantly surprised at the assist he gave for Kaka's goal against Villareal) , benzema is not very bad as the people often tout. Oga Ronaldo wants all the glory and doesnt try to help his team-mates, Benzema ought to be frustrated too, Di Maria is good too with assists but he has this idea that he can pop in goals and most often does more shooting than passing, I cant help making this comparison but if they could borrow a leaf from the unselfish attitude of the Barca front diamonds, they will get the goals (anyway thank providence they are not on NL, I wish they dont borrow the idea, better for us sef)
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: FC Barcelona Fan Thread: "Més Que Un Club" by holydante(m): 10:03am On Jan 17, 2011
Our Match against Betis should be on the 19th, although there is a caveat on the timetable (date of the game cannot be considered definite until the kick off time (GMT+1) is given. The date and time of games will be decided approximately ten days before)

Meanwhile reports have it that Dani suffered from a “small tear to the biceps femoris muscle in his right leg” and will be out of action for about two weeks possibly missing Racing and Hercules league games and the two cup matches (Betis away leg and the first leg of the semifinals, provided that we progress).

Read more: http://www.fcbarcelona.com

Anyway, I prefer giving respect to whoever we are meeting, I believe one should concentrate on the semi's 1st and then when we get to the Rubicon, we will surely cross the bridge, that has been Pep's philosophy so that one doesn't unnecessarily mount pressure on the players but surely we fans can make any permutations and wish our team well.

High 5 Fellars (oops,its 4 this time)

I met the last quarter of the match. 52 points from 19 games,+50 IFO, 3rd consecutive season on the run that Barca has calimed mid season table top(just like Xavi got nominated again by IFFSH) and on both cases, clinched the title. We currently boast of 3 players in the top 10 goal hunting dawg pack. Los Blancos will need us to loose a match and draw 1 to play catch up (that is if its sony PSP),I don't envy them right now.Simply amazing.

Malaga's goal was a classic,I bet Villa shouldnt have been part of the wall (given how vertically challenged he is) anyway Malaga with the Qatari petro-dollars flowing in and Chilean Pellegrini will surely be a force to reckon with;I just hope other Arab funds will flow into liga teams so that "some blokes" will see real depth and quality all round the league.

The manner that Xavi ran into space and held on to the ball to position Villa against the flat-footed defence line for the 4th goal was simply amamzing, people have ran outta adjectives to qualify the Maestro.

Seems Ibrahim was played on the left flank? Hoping that Dani's string pull result tomorrow won't be as tough as expected. Asssnal deserves to be finished off in the 1st leg with a full strenth squad, the noise from their lucky break against a relegation-bound-almost-managerless-westham "ununited" is beginning to iritate my ear drums, anyway the FA n Carling trips may quiten them down a bit.

FC Barcelona’s win against Real Betis on Wednesday evening took their run to 27 matches without defeat and that equalled the club record held by the side in the 1973/74 campaign. cool
True Khanye, and we are gunning for the 28th against Malaga on Sunday and WHEN we do so, we would have surpassed the record set by Rinus Michels 37 years ago (my pop and mum were still at 'it' during that time, i still dey mature for her belle then  grin grin) when he initiated ''Total footie'' as a Blagurana philosophy, the team then went on an unbeaten run of 27 games in all competition till they lost to spoilers Atl. Madrid by 0-2 tho we don secure the league title as @ then  grin(history lesson indeed)

Meanwhile our very own Hernadez Xavi has been voted as world's best play-maker by IFFHS poll (International Federation of football History and Statistics) for the 3rd time running (if am not mistaken) with a total of 223 points followed by Iniesta (as usual), Sneijder and Messi-Mmesoma-Chukwu.

IFFHS is an organization recognized by FIFA that chronicles the history and records of Association football since 1984 and provides various rankings, experts and media from over 85 countries did the collation, geez, imagine how widely accepted the game of footie is.  Ironically it was Madrid-based Marca newspaper that broke the news, nice gesture from Los Blancos but that doesnt stop us from whipping them backsides again @ The Bernabeu come April, grin

It feels good to honour the wondrous deeds of these incredible talents that we are blessed to witness in this generation. (i dont know if  I uploaded Xavi's pix correctly)

Stealthy:
Guys, there's a trend I've noticed in Spain since last season: every team plays against us like it's a cup final! But when it comes to Madris, these same teams just lie down & get flogged. Maybe it's the fear factor based on what Barca did in 2009, but still, I'll expect some fear factor for Madrid too - afterall, they're a very good team too.

I believe the reason we had a record setting season last season (in terms of total points) is because we had to treat each match like a final as the opposition wasn't giving us breathing space. Pep could hardly even rotate last season. I mean, I watch EPL matches & the big teams get it pretty easy with theor small teams - they can even afford to rest players. For us, it doesn't matter who we play, we need our best team practically every match - we may end up winning 5-0, but the fact is those matches are harder than many EPL matches ending 2-0 for ManU, Chelsea, etc. ManU has played rubbish this season, but they still win comfortably. If we dare play rubbish, the likes of Hercules & Mallorca punish us instantly!

What do you guys think?
hahaha Stealth, you didn't hear J.M's comment immediately he became Los Blanco gaffer, he made accusations against Liga officials that they were soft on Barsa matches and that opposition defence were soft and easy on us, Pep already learnt his lesson from the Anders Frisk issue refused to join issues with him and only replied him on the pitch of play.

Any player who goes soft on his opponent due to supposed past glory is a dumbo crack head that should be denied that week's wage and if encouraged by the coaching crew, all of them should be sacked too. I remember the
1992 Barcelona Olympics where other nation's basketball teams were in awe of ''The Dream Team of USA'' (Magic J, Jordan, Pippen, Barkley et al) opponents were telling photographers to snap them pictures as the game was going on, some, during intervals will take cameras and be snapping the American's as they were dunking and dunking in balls in the basket against their own team oo shocked shocked even after defeat, they all shamelessly begged for pics, autographs and shirts, what happened? USA outscored everyone with an average of 40 points per game and clinched the gold medal without loosing or drawing a match in style.

Same thingy happened to Shelsi when Mourinho came calling with his pack at the Bridge during the CL last season, the back room staff, players and fans were in awe of him and before they spelt Champions league, they got knocked out by Inter.

My take on what you raised is that it will be suicidal for any opponent to go easy on competition (this is no Nigerian league-no offeinse-apologies to mr cork), so fans will burn energy and waste their resources to come watch their teams play sissy's to opposition??

Pique should not have talked to alves like that but to say the truth there has been some pressures on alves wing and pique has gone there to defend so many times.
Guess one of them might leave at the end of the season. undecided
Well players can get passionate and exuberant at times and it requires some checking over most often, truth be told Dani is more of an out-and-out R.winger than a full RB and his transition rate will reduce as time goes by which obviously will leave a porous gap behind and you can imagine if a Gareth Bale were to match up on that side against him, i also believe he is not eager to extend his contract probably trying to do Rooney style and get something better for himself, I bet Pep will surely be grooming Adriano for post-Alves as a full RB while Ibrahim doubles up with him as a winger(that will be some mouth-watering combo when the 2 will finally jell cheesy), it will be sad to see him go though but this is soccer, you get very few permanent loyalty from players.
eyoniggar:
can Barca really let Biscuit go? Its business though So i wnt be surprised if they let him go.
Lol @ Biscuit, well 25m could be very tempting and probably since Barca Mgt would want to maintain a cap on wages, they may likely let him go but it will be a shame forcing out Yaya and now Sergio who supposedly gained more from the formers absence, their replacements wont surely be as effective as they are, something has to be done about this wage thing because these players are unarguably playing the best footie available now and if the likes of Man City comes calling with promise of 300,000 pounds weekly wage shocked shocked shocked, truth be told, they will be tempted like I would grin

Just keeping an eye on our supposed "opposition" for the next round of CL

Assenhole wenGay bois got piqued by the same tractor boys that shelsi thumped 7-0 in the FA cup.

There seems to be a sympathy towards assenal by all and there were high hopes that the carling cup could be theirs for taking so as to reactivate their dusty trophy cabinet at the emirate, with Ipswich lacking in confidence lossing last 8 of their 11 fixtures and Boss Roy Kean just sacked, one would have expected dem snod-wearing-gonners to have an easy ride and secure a finals ticket with a match to go, but alas the reverse is the case, now they have 2 additional fixtures(FA & Carling) to battle with in adition to the epl, well its all good for us cause they'l have less steam to withstand our mowing goal machine come feb.

hello my Fellow Cules,

Quite an interesting week for folks, am real glad for Barca and Messi, the top prize, the top 3, Fifa ProXI etc, its rather unfortunate about the individual and media blitz harassing his winning the Ballon D'Or, even the likes of J.Mourinho mouthing off, he likes to fish in troubled waters and I bet his main aim is to create disaffection in our team so that our form will drop (believe me, I know that man and his silly mind games), did you guys see the way he disgustingly goal-celebrated over the Villareal dugout during sunday's match(his visitors oo) shocked shocked shocked, and the Yellow Submarines' bench got 2 red cards for challenging him? maybe Pique or Pep should have held their palm up in fascist salute-like mockery in his face the day he was thrashed 5-0 at The Nou. Hez one sick dude at times

I am dead sure Pep wont allow that to happen, we need to stay focused and clinch the victory against Real Betis tonight. The whole squad is in high spirits after the Switzerland parrie, and our 3-some fearsome rank of perros de caza (hunting dogs) will surely live up to expectation.
