@JP88, we dont have choice here, it could have been any team, we should not display trepidation bruv.

The key here is give them the respect as a worthy opponent but we play our game AND TAKE OUR CHANCES, kill off the game when it matters most, no pussy-footing.

Nice gesture from both teams and i think UEFA refused in other to concentrate on the tragedy in Japan because they had some minutes silence and a banner displayed on the field before the kickoff. It was more of not doing two things at the same time and taking the most important one. It is good that both teams still did what they have to do after the match and we all hope everything goes well with abidal.
Its not official but i think i have to agree with you. it seems apt the way it was finally done.

Good observation mate
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: FC Barcelona Fan Thread: "Més Que Un Club" by holydante(m): 2:24pm On Mar 17, 2011
this comment really cracked me up real good and long grin

Very kind and heart warming gesture. Sadly, like Xavi said, UEFA do not realize that there are some things that are more powerful than football. I find it kinda sad actually to deny the players the ability to do something that cannot harm anyone at all but could certainly warm the hearts of many and give strength to the Abidal family.

Anyway, hats off to Lyon, who I know respect Abidal due to the French connections. But I also must give props to Madrid. I always knew that however much we hated them, they always had a certain class, especially in the Raul days. I admit that after the last classico, I hated them and thought they had lost all of their class and royalty, due to the actions of Ramos, Carvalho, Pepe, Ronaldo, Mou, etc. But anyway, thanks for such an amazing action. Love for humanity is strongest, and we are all humans, no matter how many manitas we give to you smiley . cheesy cheesy

But seriously, thank you Lyon and Madrid. Hope we can perform similar acts of respect against Getafe, unless the stupid spanish federation punishes us,

The Capital club yesterday showed an amazing amount of support for Abidal, ahead their game against Lyon last night.
UEFA turned down their request to put Abidal on their jerseys for the match. However, on the scoreboard, there was a picture of Abidal in a Barca jersey throughout the game. After the game, all players from both teams turned out in this T Shirt (courtesy Total Barca):
wonderful and emotional gesture.

I was thinking about him before I started the thread. Even though I've searched for him on Facebook many times, I keep searching just in case I may find him. I never had the idea to call his former high school until it dawned on me that they may still have records of him graduating from there. No, I don't think any of you are losers. I hope this thread encourages others to go seek out old flames because I've been searching for mine for over 3 years now cry. Will all honesty, I may not ever find him but I can at least say I tried.
I have made such attempts @ locating the so called way back soul mates in ‎d̶̲̥̅̊ past and recent past and like I said before, which one do I post and which ones do I leave out;I came up with depressing frustrating answers; some are light years in marriage, overweight, burden of children rearing, declining love from husbands and one suddenly is sickly all the time (funny enuff she never had headache when we were together) have taken its toll on most of them, etc, one wanted to eagerly hook up again after 6 yrs gap but sure my faith won't allow that and ‎d̶̲̥̅̊ sparks just won't ignite. Only 1 seems to be having a ball in her married life.

My pain is that another experience happend some 2 yrs back @ my present age, the older the heart gets, the longer it takes to heal

I was also doing my present day life and opportunities a whole lot of bad by refusing to let go of such fantasies and whole-heartedly live out my life.

I would rather not seek out again and move forward.

She was at the University then and was too young to stand up to her parents especially in the north. So eventually we broke up in 2006 after the best 3yrs of my life.

I left Abuja for Lagos(my folks live there, hers as well). Luckily for us, I went back to Abuja for the Christmas break in 2009, and out of the blues i got a call from her asking me if i came home for christmas and I said yes. She now dashed to my house and the moment we set our eyes on each other we knew we could not let go again.

Aint no game on, I guess Muchen will have themselves to blame, a game they could have wrapped up with such intensity in ‎d̶̲̥̅̊ 1st half but most of their strikers were playing to ‎d̶̲̥̅̊ gallery.
It was a wasted potent force, a side with Ribery, Gomez, Altinthorp, Robben, Muller, Lahm, its unfathomable but hey, this is soccer, anything goes.

Like Arsenal that registerd a record 0 attempts @ goal against Barca, Inter is ‎d̶̲̥̅̊ 2nd team to over turn a 1st leg home defeat in ‎d̶̲̥̅̊ knock out stages, ‎d̶̲̥̅̊ other being ‎d̶̲̥̅̊ great Ajax coached then by Same Van Gaal.

There is this allegation of doping against FCB, by a spanish radio. I guess it is serious cos FCB has released a statement denying it and threatening a legal action against the radio station.
whether it is serious or not, the alleged party must confound the allegations outrightly, reports has it that the radio station has retracted the statement with apologies to Valencia and Barca, although it claimed that ''its Madrid that wants to make the doping request to the football administration in Spain''

I guess the only way we can silence them is to make sure we wrap up games that we have control over and distance ourselves with enough points to make a rubbish of their huge and expensive toys, and get fired up to win the upcoming classico and CDR finals

Hi All,

Stealth, its all been said over and over again, Pep has been doing great and acknowledged by all and sundry but perhaps lines like this that question his competence (''Pep’s natural instinct is to stick with what he knows. And what he knows is Seydou Keita will allow Andres the freedom to venture further forward. This is all well and good but isn’t it becoming just slightly predictable?) will make him to sit up and tinker things around.

If i may ask, how many times has any Barca sub come on and made a match-winning difference, like a JM or other coaches will do(i hate to make such comparisons), in most instances, its those that started the match that will trudge on and finally pull a win or a draw. its beginning to look as if we are not blessed with the pool of talents at our disposal, cant Pep work his magic? Let us not be like Arsene Wenger who has remained adamant in the face of policy-failure and wrecking yearly anguish on his supporters (i know in the current dispensation, no Barcelona Manager will last 3 years without a trophy, La Masia is there to provide backbone)

The over-playing is what gets to me most often, you control match stats and fluff opportunities to wrap up a match, the mental anguish of chasing a game is more on the players than the watching fans and it really wears them down, like Ajanlekoko pointed out, we mustn't expect to win all the time as its even disrespectful to opponents but in a scenario where opportunities present themselves, clinicality is required; which philosophy says we must pass the ball into the net? if Iniesta's outside 18-shot had dipped a bit more, it could have been 2 for us, shots must be taken as at when due not Adriano/Villa style tho grin)

We must have confidence in our fringe players (most of us do, but Pep thinks differently), and the under performing ones should be made to struggle for their positions, competition brings out the best in one, it is a time-tested experience.

I would rather we play badly and loose than, execute a beautiful nonsense. I encourage all of us to register with Total Barca and also on the fan zone site and make your voices heard and interact too.

Jesus Navas almost made it 2 for sevilla, but thank God for Valdes' foot.

Maxwell is on for Adriano, I cant believe what Villa, Bojan and Adriano has been doing, their final touch has been so shameful and disgusting, utterly unforgiving. Messi is just hanging on with his injury and still directing things, just no one to step up and dump in a 2nd goal
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: FC Barcelona Fan Thread: "Més Que Un Club" by holydante(m): 10:31pm On Mar 13, 2011
Yes Medjai, Bojan I mean.

Am just wincing as this match is going on, we have never had it so badly as per officiating, the sevilla players are employing every trick in ‎d̶̲̥̅̊ book and ‎d̶̲̥̅̊ silly refree has been too lenient on them, ‎d̶̲̥̅̊ tackles, pushing and knocks on our players have been unforgiveable, add also the heart wrenching disallowed Messi goal.

Like Stealth and so many have opined, we needed to rest some key players but Pep thinks otherwise, Pedro is gone, Busquets took one too, and Messi has taken a heavy knock and can hardly move, am so gutted by this development.

Pep is even undecided whether to sub Messi or not, its 1 apiece and can we chase this game, ‎d̶̲̥̅̊ morale is coming down low.

How you Survived? ''Audere est Facere'' (To Dare Is to Do)
It is the resilience, self believe and maturity of your team especially the sterling performance of your back line (Asuo Ekotto, Dawson and ever reliable Gallas, etc Sandro was outstanding too) although the strikers didn't score.

I have always opined that teams hardly and dont win trophies and titles with teen back lines and another teen manning the goal post (Los Blacos Casillas is a one-off), that zone is for veterans, perhaps William .G. has been vindicated at last after his objective scathing comments that warranted him been stripped of his captaincy when he was still plying his trade for a certain 5-years-trophy less club.

Ironically, while he was clearing balls off his goal line to help keep The Spurs dreams alive in the race, his former team mates were giving assists to opponents to score, ''Nani style''.
Footie sure do follow a certain superstitious pattern.

Goodmorning Guys,

@JP88, finally i see ur comments, i was bothered that you were MIA

Am surprised am still relieving yesternight's victory, i bet if it was a Man u or Shesi, i may not have been this elated, i can trace it to the ill-advised and incessant rants (well, they are entitled to their myopic opinion) of the asss-anal fanatics, just a 2nd hal cameo performance at the emirates and some folks had the guts to compare Wilshire, Koscielny and Dojorou  to Xavi, Iniesta and Pique (guys that have won it all in footie shocked)

I have not seen where a team wins trophies with teens in their back line, you may have them up front but not in the back lines, that zone is made for veterans (Casillas is a one-off history).

Like someone pointed out, they have Cesc, we got the pass, just like in the Carling cup too.

The defeat should be swallowed by them as they did not come to win, they tried to pack the bus but they aint Italians (Total-Barca.com), after all, the entire 4 goals were scored by one side, Cesc gave us an assist and Buscuits paid back, so we evened out cheesy.

Whatever happens in the next round, we stopped them again, Messi has spelt A R S E N A L with his 1 2 3 4 5 6  goals against them,(plus the wickedly disallowed goal at the emirates cup) what a nightmare grin

Next time Arsene should be careful what he wises for, he sure got it this time

proproman:
Now you arsenal fans are getting rather annoying. Answer the following;

1) Did Koscielny deserve a red on at least two different occasions or not? Oho, so the ref wasn't biased not to have sent him off abi. If van persie had not been sent off, koscielny definitely would have. Whichever way you look at it, Arsenal deserved to be a man down yesterday.

2) was messi'a goal in the first leg legal or not? If you have any doubts about the validity of the goal, visit goal.com or youtube, watch the video and tell me where you see an infringement. Aha, the ref was perfect in that match, ba? Because arsenal won that match. The ref wasn't biased abi. If that goal had stood, barcelona would have two away goal and arsenal would have needed to score twice at the camp nou to get to the next round. Considering they couldn't muster just a shot, how much more, one on target, i wonder how they would have achieved that.

3) did messi deserve to be awarded a penalty in the first half or not. Ehen, the ref's eyes were clearer then, wasn't it and he hadn't been paid ridiculous sums to help barca win, eh? Or are you saying it wasn't a penalty?

Soft penalty call or not is no excuse, Arsenal have had soft penalty calls in their favour and their fans rejoiced and saw nothing in it. Abi una wan claim say every penalty call una get, una deserve am? Now barca were given what was clearly a penalty and are crying blue murder.

I find it appalling that certain fans failto address the root problem in their team and blame their problems on the ref, or linesman, or the opposing team or the opposing fans. Arsenal were totally outplayed and needed an own goal to give them hope. What did you guys expect to win from, another own goal? Your team played poorly, deserved to lose, accept it and stop blaming the ref. All of you just watch, if arsenal loses to man u in the fa cup, it will be the ref's fault and man u being "pdp". Do you guys ever listen to yourselves? If i were an arsenal fan, i would be pissed at my teams poor play and admit that we were second best the whole match. There was no way Arsenal was going to win that fixture playing like that, trying to park the bus when you don't have the players for it. Inter Milan were a man down at the camp nou last season, if i'm not mistaken, for a longer period than Arsenal were a man down yesterday. Yet they defended gallantly and fully deserved their qualification.

Look at it this way; if the ref hadn't given van persie a red, then koscielny definitely should have had one, true or false? If the ref didn't award pedro a penalty, he should have awarded one messi in the first half, true or false. So either way, there should have been at least a penalty and a sending off last night. Imagine Arsenal fans complaining of the ref awarding barca many fouls, what did you expect? Who held the ball last nite and who did the chasing? So who should have been fouling who? Abegi, you people have no excuse. When you don't play a shot on target, yet hope to score and win a match, that's the height of unrealistic expectations. Arsenal were just not up to it. All this "one day, one day" you guys are hollering is just hilarious. It's the same way Nigerians address political problem, just blame someone else for your problems, instead of addressing them. You guys are saying uefa have made plans against epl teams, abi? I laugh in swahili. When Arsenal lost to Newcastle, and their fans were chanting biased referee like it was a new religious chorus, was uefa "planning" against an eplteam in an epl competition? Una go soon talk say na uefa make koscielny and scsczeny get brain touch when them give martins through pass make im score awoof goal. Play poorly and lose, get over it, arsenal should improve their squad. Who expects me to believe in an Arsenal side that were handed a trophy on a platter of gold, theirs for the taking, yet handed it over to martins and birmingham, a side that failed to muster a shot on target against a team they'd beaten three weeks earlier. Infact, you guys can go and hug a transformer and give it a big, wet kiss for good measure. Guardiola can afford to say the red wasn't deserved because his team is already through. Na wa for una o, Koscielny deserve red, una no see am, una no fit remember am, messi deserve penalty, una no see am, una no remember am, dem come give vp red, give pedro penalty, una come dey shout dem mama. Infact sef, una dey vex person. Tell Wenger to build a squad that can play barca mano a mano, man to man, not one that needs own goals to get on the score sheet. I used to praise Arsenal fans for being faithful to their club despite years of trophy drought. Now i deride them for abject naiveity.
I was doing a small write with my handheld device, but after reading the above master piece, i opted out.

Now Mr. Wenger as always will have a reason to back up his extension as the clubs gaffer, you cant win a trophy on such mentality, if the club is really title serious, they simply know what to do, it is not cast in stone .

Hey Stealth and my fellow fellars,

Hehehe, who wants to sleep? I have Mgt meeting tomorrow but I can take a chance.

Geez, what a game, one thing I know for sure, we are sloppy in front of the goal, wave after wave of attack, what were the misses all about?

Like Y☺u pointed out, a clinical side will surely trouble us, we cant play like this @ the Mestella and Bernabeu, but hey, who cares this night, we won convincingly, wish all Y☺u guys are around me, let's just pop biggies together.

Meanwhile the excuses are pouring in, a fanatic just posted on fb that AW had a romp with Platini's wife back in college and so Platini has been eeffing Wengay up!! Imagine the cheeky looser.

Am just using my handheld and it aint fast, wish my lappy is here with me, over to ass-anals thread guys
