The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Most Rev. Matthew Kukah, has said nothing was wrong with the agitation for Biafra by members of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra.Kukah, who said this on Friday night at the convocation lecture of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, added that the pro-Biafra agitators were exercising the freedom of expression. The clergyman advised the Federal Government to partner with the Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, saying the government should seek to do business with him because of his charisma. The bishop further said no Nigerian politician could mobilise a huge number of supporters like Kanu without paying them, saying the government did not need to hound this kind of person but to partner with him.Kukah said: “This country cannot continue this way. MASSOB has right to demand Biafra since we have freedom of expression. The problem of Nigeria should not be with Kanu but should be with who let the door open. “The President of Nigeria or any governor, unless he pays, cannot bring the number of people that Kanu brought out. The anxiety of Nigeria should be that a young man who can bring out such great number of people is worth doing business with.” The cleric also bemoaned the state of Nigerian universities. He said the management as well as lecturers should be blamed if some students failed to graduate. Kukah stated that students had a say in the promotion of their lecturers in some universities but that was not the case in the nation’s varsities. “Elsewhere, students have a say in the promotion of their teachers but here in Nigeria, too many evils are being committed. We need a generation of lawyers and judges who can bend the arc of justice in favour of the poor,” he added. In his opening remarks, the Vice-Chancellor of the OAU, Prof. Bamitale Omole, said the university remained the best in the country, saying many feats had been achieved since he assumed office. PUNCH. that i bought an acura zdx at the age of 25 doesnt make successful or more responsible. i have seen guys here who are fucking wealthy than myself who doesnt own a car, but when you check their investmen you will calm down. responsibility isnt about owning a car is about investing in human develpment. i dnt even advice a nigerian to buy a car at the age of 26, am a living example, if u buy a car at such age you will carter for your families both extended families, friends and some people you never knew existed. keep it low key and invest in yourself unless buying a car is a neccesity at that moment. |

An Ikorodu born politician and a scion of the Gbadamosi-Odesanya family, Mr. Babatunde Olalere Gbadamosi, who has keenly contested the Lagos gubernatorial primaries twice under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of representing a very serious risk to the existence of the Nigeria construct. He also air his views concerning the governorship elections which was held in Kogi state and Bayelsa States respectively that was declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as inconclusive as gathered from his Facebook account. Mr. Babatunde O. Gbadamosi wrote: “General Muhammadu Buhari’s body language has been favourable to election malpractices, hence INEC’s inability, under his incompetent and biased appointees, to conduct and CONCLUDE any of the elections they have umpired so far. “I am of the opinion that General Buhari represents a very serious risk to the existence of the NIgeria construct, and those who prefer it to host of independent, but smaller and probably more virile countries need to be up and doing in the senate,a the only place where he can be legally removed from office before the end of his term. “I don’t see Nigeria surviving up to 2019 with all that’s going on. Suddenly, the same INEC that returned General Buhari as President cannot conduct elections in on state at a time successfully? What will happen at the general elections? Within 6 months, the economy has dipped beyond our worst case scenario imagination. The Naira is exchanging at N250 to a dollar! Buhari appears to have declared economic sanctions against the rest of the world, through his military Comptroller General of Customs, and by so doing, cut down heavily on tax income, both from direct Customs Duties and from Companies Tax that would have acrued from profits that will not be made by companies that cannot collect their trucks, machinery, parts and raw materials from the ports due to the introduction of FEAR as a management tool in the Customs and Excise. “Food prices, brought down considerably during the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan, due to his silent but highly effective agricultural policies, have escalated fearfully since Buhari was sworn in, due of course, to a lack of direction arising from his refusal to appoint ministers until the world began to ask embarrassing questions. “For all his virulent criticism of Fuel Subsidies during the Goodluck Jonathan administration, he has paid more than Jonathan paid for subsidies in the corresponding period last year, yet, Nigeria is now defined by Petrol Station queues. For a former Minister for Petroleum Resources, who has also seen fit to reappoint himself as the substantive Minister in this administration, resulting in the ignominous snub given his minion at the last OPEC meeting, this is an unpardonable, piss-poor performance. “I don’t even want to get started on security, where over 2,000 Nigerians have lost their lives to attacks by Boko Haram and the brutal Fulani Militia, who both respectively have acquired the dubious macabre honours of first and fourth most brutal terrorist groups in the world. The worst part of the story is the mysterious way in which Nigerian Army soldiers, allegedly mainly of Southern extraction, seem to be dying in disproportionate numbers and in questionable circumstances in this conflict. “If Buhari cannot manage Nigeria, there is still time for him to resign honorably before his ignominious impeachment. You cannot continue to deliberately mismanage the country and expect us to be happy. You cannot beat a child and tell him not to cry. I do not blame Nnamdi Kanu and the IPOB. In fact, I use this opportunity to call for the immediate and unconditional release of that vocal, abusive and sometimes obnoxious young man. It would seem he’s been right all along. The Nigerian police has denied killing pro-Biafan protesters during a march in Onitsha, Anambra state, in the early hours of 2 December. Oleehkukyu Ali, spokesperson for the police in Anambra, told our reporter that police forces were deployed because the protest was disrupting the peace.Pro-Biafans hold regular marches across several states in south-eastern Nigeria calling for the independence of territories that constituted the Biafran Republic, established in 1967 and reannexed to Nigeria in 1970, following a civil war that claimed between one and three million Rallies have intensified since Nnamdi Kanu – director of Radio Biafra and the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (Ipob) – was arrested in Lagos in October on charges of criminal conspiracy, intimidation and belonging to an unlawful society. He pleaded not guilty. IPOB members told Our reporter that during the 2 December protest – in which an estimated 20,000 people took part – Nigeria’s Joint Military Task Force (JTF) allegedly shot dead at least nine people and injured 18. However, Ali denied the allegations and said: “Recent processions were very peaceful, but last Wednesday the procession was marred by violence. At 10pm on Tuesday [1 December] I was sent to speak with the protesters as they had barricaded the highway in Anambra. “People had blocked the road that stretched up to the Bridge Head. Firemen and police cleared the road but at that point demonstrators blocked another part of the highway. We told them to evacuate the road and when they said no, we cleared the road because people had been stuck in traffic for hours.” Ali went on alleging that the protesters carried out arson attacks on nine trucks and at the central mosque in Onitsha. However, Ipob and Massob (Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra) denied the allegations and maintained that acts of violence were not carried out by pro-Biafrans.After being repeatedly asked whether the police and army killed or injured any of the protesters, Ali said: “There was no record of deaths, actually one police member was injured and later died at the hospital. We are not after Pro-Biafrans, we did not shoot, we only cleared the road. Pro-Biafrans should inform the police before they intend to hold marches, so that we can liaise and provide security too and can make sure infiltrators will not hijack situations. But every time, they defy these instructions.” This is not the first time that pro-Biafrans accused the police of violence. In an exclusive report by IBTimes UK, Amnesty International claimed that there was “credible evidence that pro-Biafran separatists in Nigeria are targeted by police”. The police however, have always denied the allegations. Massob and Ipob Massob and Ipob have claimed several times they are not related. Both movements accuse each other of violent propaganda and actions. According to Ipob members, violent actions blamed on Massob smear pro-Biafrans’ reputation and are used by the government to claim the whole movement is violent. The Nigerian government has deemed Massob as an extremist group. Its leader Ralph Uwazuruike was arrested in 2005 on treason charges. He was released two years later. Uwazuruike announced on 6 December the group had been renamed Biafra Independent Movement, BIM. He explained the decision was necessary following violent actions by internal dissidents. He said during a press conference in Owerri, capital of Imo state: “The change in name became absolutely necessary because of the sad introduction of violence by the disgruntled dissidents and this is at variance with the non-violence stance of Massob over the years.” Uwazuruike also alleged he had recruited Kanu in 1989 and appointed him as the director of Radio Biafra. “He started preaching hatred and brainwashing the youths. Massob sacked him.” Ipob denies the allegations SOURCE: http://www.afikpochicupdates.com/14644 |

Information available to IGBERE TV obtained from sources knowledgeable of the goings on within the Presidency indicate that the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mohammadu Buhari may have knowingly or unknowingly approved the decision by his kitchen cabinet to halt the shipment of cement belonging to the Nnewi business mogul, Chief Cletus Ibeto, the Chief Executive Officer [CEO] of Ibeto Cement company. This is as IGBERE TV gathered that of the entire importers of cement in the federation, only Ibeto cement was halted from reaching the shores of Nigeria. According to reports, an approval of yearly importation quota of 1.5million metric tons of cement was giving to Ibeto by the federal government of Nigeria. And as gathered, the company – Ibeto Cement had complied. However, with the arrival of the President Mohammadu Buhari led administration, the rules of the game changed midway. The arrival inevitably struck the importation arrangement of Ibeto Cement with a bad fist. The policy makers of the Buhari kitchen cabinet quickly sought to halt the shipment of cement by Ibeto cement through means that appeared illegal or simply misuse of power. The President’s men took to the garnet when they got information that Ibeto Company had a shipment of cement on the high-seas making its way into the country. They immediately ordered the shipment be halted and not allowed entry into Nigerian ports. As the managers of Ibeto Company inquired on the reasons for the refusal to allow the ship to dock, the kitchen cabinet of the President immediately searched the law books but could not give an immediate reasons or quote a law that supported its actions. The CEO of the cement company, after lobbying for weeks to find out why the President’s men stopped his shipment, was told that the source of the money which he [Ibeto] used to import the said cement was not sourced from the Central Bank of Nigeria [CBN] – and so the shipment will not be allowed to offload in Nigeria. Ireyimika Oyegbami As a new mother whose baby has started teething you are happy, very happy, until the day your baby decides to bite your nipple during a breastfeed. You do not have to stop breastfeeding because your baby bit you; it is just a temporary, albeit a bit painful, phase. Some people advocate that the breastfeeding mum should bite the baby in return but this old wife’s fable is superfluous; you would simply be causing your baby unnecessary pain. Also, if your baby becomes afraid of your reaction to him biting you, he may refuse to breastfeed. Furthermore, lactation experts say your baby won’t bite if she is getting adequate supply of milk when she sucks and if she is breastfeeding correctly; that is, with her tongue over her bottom gum and any emerging teeth. If your baby does bite your nipple, it would be when she is not feeding actively such as when she is just beginning to latch on or is coming off your breast. If you have a baby that bites during breastfeeding you should be try to do the following. • Be attentive during breastfeeding When you concentrate on your baby at the beginning of a breastfeed you will be able to help him attach properly, this will help stop him from biting. Do same for when he is coming off the breast. – Wait for your baby’s mouth to open wide before getting him close to your breast can prevent him biting. – Make eye contact with him as he feeds. If he has a mischievous look on or he seems to be playing, you could gently break suction and take him off your breast so he can play with his toys and not your nipple. • Give him a Cooled Teething Ring before a Breastfeed Get your teething baby a cold teething ring and let him gnaw his aching gums on it before you breastfeed him. This might stop him from biting your nipples. – If your baby has really sore and painful gums from teething, consult your pharmacist for help. • Remember to Apply the Basics of Positioning If your baby’s top teeth have emerged, he is likely to sort of rest the top teeth on mummy’s breast while he feeds. This is not a bite in itself but some mothers can find this painful and the teeth may leave tiny indentations. If this happens, simply go back to the basics of positioning and attachment. – Hold your baby in close, chest-to-chest. Wait for his wide open mouth and as you hug him on to your breast, aim for your nipple to be pointing toward the roof of his mouth. – When your baby attaches in this way, his neck will be tipped back and his chin will be tucked into your breast while his nose will be free. This lessens his tendency to rest his top teeth on your breast. • Breastfeed Away From Distractions From when they are about 3 months old, many babies get distracted by what is going on around them when they feed. – Feeding away from distractions can help you and your baby to fully focus on breastfeeding. – Your baby is more likely to attach properly, actively feed and come off when he is done. In conclusion, if your baby bites while feeding, gently break suction, look him in the eyes and firmly tell him “No”. Do not shout as he may think it is some sort of ‘Peek-a-boo’ game and won’t see that you are serious. Remember to get first aid for your nipple; put a few drops of expressed breast-milk on it, air it and change your breast pad regularly. source: http://motherhoodinstyle.net/2015/10/30/why-your-baby-bites-during-breastfeeding-and-how-to-avoid-it/ |
The 19 Northern Governors under the aegis, Northern Governors Forum, have unanimously..condemned the attacks that happened during the pro-biafran protest in Onitsha, Anambra state yesterday December 2nd. Rising from a meeting in Borno state today, the governors said Nigerians had no reason to fight themselves at this time when we should join hands to fight the number one enemy of our country which is Boko Haram. Borno state governor, Kshim Shettima who leads the group of Governors, said this in a statement he released through his media aide, Isa Gusau. The statement in part read; “We condemn the Wednesday crisis in very strong term. We have been in touch with one another today. The Governors of major cities in the north in particular, have been in critical touch to share thoughts and we have collectively taken firm measures to ensure that the violence doesn’t spread to any part of the 19 northern States and we will also be working with our colleagues in the south to nip the crisis in the bud but we will not disclose the measures we have taken so that those who may want to take advantage of the Onitsha mayhem don’t know our strategies. However, it is surprising to the Northern States Governors Forum that any Nigerian at all can even contemplate any kind of violence when we already have serious problems of Boko Haram insurgents that are killing Muslims and Christians, killing northerners and southerners, attacking Mosques, Churches and markets, in an effort to kill all of us that do not subscribe to their interpretation of Islam. We have Boko Haram that kill Hausa, Fulani, Ibo, Yoruba, Kanuri, Ijaw and anyone they are able to come across. We thought that the existence of Boko Haram should have been enough to make all Nigerians fuse into one and fight a common enemy. It is really sad that any Nigerian can contemplate violence. We are not blaming any individual or group because there are security agencies whose job it is to safeguard lives and property and do investigations where necessary, we will not go into their duties. We beg all Nigerians to be calm and go about their duties in peace. We have got more than enough problems to worry about. We can’t afford any distraction that will shift our focus from the bigger problems of Boko Haram that has an ambition of sending the human race into extinction. We urge all Nigerians to be calm. We particularly call on all Nigerians living in the northern states not to pay attention to differences in religion and ethnicity but rather, should see each other as Nigerians with equal residential rights and fundamental human rights that include freedom to lawfully reside anywhere in Nigeria, freedom of worship, movement, trade, association, education, healthcare and other rights as provided by the Nigerian constitution. We particularly call on our youths not to allow anyone use them for any purpose because youths have suffered more than any other age category from the hands of Boko Haram insurgents and that is more than enough. Our focus should be on how to end the Boko Haram insurgency and not to be driven into any other crisis. We have suffered too much, we must say no to any crisis. As heads of Government of the 19 northern states, we will by the grace of God, do everything humanly possible to ensure that no resident, regardless of his or her ethno-religious background, is denied any of these rights. As Nigerians, we are one, we need one another and we must live as one people. SOURCE: http://www.afikpochicupdates.com/14470

Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai is a renowned evangelist and preacher in Nigeria. He is known for his fearless and straight response to any subject. Aside his preaching prowess, he’s also done a lot to better his community. He is currently building a polytechnic worth one billion naira with administrative blocks of 92 rooms and an internet eye hospital in his home town in Ohafia. The cleric spoke with Sunday Sun in his office at Uyo, in Akwa Ibom recently. You were close to the last president, Good luck Ebele Jonathan, what is your relationship with him now? Yes. He is still my brother. The best school is the school of failure. No man is a successful man who has never failed. Those who avoid failure are the people who are causing problems in Nigeria. A man who is willing to fail and also willing to pick something before rising up shall be a good leader, but a man who says I cannot fail is telling a lie. All of us can fail. The only man who has made no mistakes is the man we buried yesterday. Every man alive can make mistakes. A great man is someone who can learn from his mistakes. Jonathan is among the greatest we have had in Nigeria. I know he’s a man of few words, but he has bright ,analytical mind. He’s very intelligent and also patient, which is something missing in Nigeria. Was that why he married patience? No, No No, I don’t know why he married patience. I have known him before he became president of Nigeria and as we speak, I have still great respect for him because he is still as intelligent as he was when he was saddled with the responsibility of leading us. But, nobody should regret it because the lessons he has learnt will be of great use to us in future. There’s a clamour for Biafra, how do you react to that? Their leaders were here. They want me to lead them. Or they said it’s a prophesy that I should lead them. Which of their leaders? I will not tell you. I said to them, if you want me to lead you then you must drop your agitation and carry the bible and become what the bible wants you to be and resort to giving birth to yourself as a people before you can give birth to the community. What do I mean? Every child of God is supposed to be a creator of wealth. You don’t need to depend on government and every child of God has Abraham as his covenant father. The Jews thrive anywhere they go without the government, supporting them. The Jews are great in creativity, great in wisdom, great in knowledge, they are not just rich in money they are rich in imagination. They make the impossible possible, they have turned a barren land into fruitful land. The bible promises that no man who is a born again child of God shall be a disappointment and go empty handed. You have to demonstrate that first before you begin to blame other people for not helping. No man is a failure until he begins to blame others for his problems. We need to discover God, discover what he can do for us, and hold on to him, he will turn our state of confusion into a state of fruitfulness. Was that all you told them? Yes. I made them discover what the bible says about them to give birth to the dream God has for them first before trading blames on others. Sir, what are your perceptions about the electoral tribunals, especially in their judgment in Akwa Ibom, Taraba, Rivers? I don’t know if I am the right man to answer that question because I’m biased. I believe that 90 percent of these attorneys are corrupt and once a man can dance to the tune of money , he is not worthy to preside over a tribunal. A man who has a price tag, has no business with being a chairman of a tribunal. A man that you can buy either with women or with money has no business presiding over a tribunal. We have judges that money can buy, and therefore whatever they do; people like me can’t trust their verdict. We need honest men, we need selfless men, we need men that love Nigeria, not lovers of themselves. We are looking for men that love Nigeria , who can give up their comfort, their pleasure to the welfare of this great country. Allow me to say that I don’t know any country as beautiful as this country. Our problem is, we have men who have no knowledge of how to move us forward. Men who don’t even know what the questions are, so they can’t even answer our questions. A man you are asking which one is the longest river in the world and he names Aba River. That tells you the whole story. That’s where we are. A man who is not self less has no reason to lead us but a man that loves us, a man that is helpless, a man willing to pay any price that will be placed on him to help this nation move forward. Since 1960 till now, have we made any progress? the answer is no. We have been running in circles like blind horses and what breaks my heart is that we have men with dead conscience. A man with dead conscience is more deadly than an armed robber. A man with dead conscience loves nobody but himself; a man with dead conscience can even kill his wife and children. Most of our leaders have no conscience. I can’t see us dancing because of a rosy tomorrow. God allowed our problem to crease for us to turn to him and seek him but because we have dead conscience, we are marching as if nothing has gone wrong. I had begun to travel across the world when one naira could buy two dollars. When one naira was equivalent to one pound. You show up in a European shop the whole place will come to a stand still because a Nigerian has walked in. now, its no longer so. When they see your passport, without even checking out your name they rate you before knowing you. That is what poverty can do to a nation. Now, one naira cannot buy anything anymore. You need 230 naira to buy one dollar. Our leaders should be crying, they should be weeping, asking God for forgiveness, wisdom, knowledge and understanding. I want to add that we no longer have a problem; our problem is not now an emergency. But unfortunatelty, the men have gone on break. If you are to see Buhari face to face what will you tell him? I will ask him to seek God to help us because only God has solutions to our problems, to our questions, healing for our sickness. Recently, one man was given three offices, Works, Housing, Power. What is your take on that? The man they gave those appointments is a performer. He has my vote. If they had asked me to vote I would have voted for him. As governor of Lagos, he changed the place. He showed that Africans don’t have biscuits in their head, that we have brains and we can think. I have never met him, I don’t know him but I celebrate him. There was a time I promised to vote for him in Lagos any day he wanted my vote. I will travel from Akwa Ibom, register in Lagos and vote for him so he deserves that honour. We are looking for men who can think, not men who re-arrange their prejudices, not men who are blind. A blind man can lead a blind man. The crop of ministers that President Buhari put together, we have hope that poverty will be a thing of the past. I don’t know them. I know some of them , I don’t know all of them. So,its difficult for me to judge at this time. its difficult for me to judge at this time. I don’t even know their pedigree. Where have they performed before now? Like the man that had my vote, he has performed before. Others have no pedigree, we can’t make reference to their past. There’s nothing there to give us hope. The man in the saddle do you think he is capable of giving that change? Ask me other questions. Those who know me will know the story but I won’t discuss it on the pages of newspapers. With what is happening in the country, is the hand of God in Nigeria? Of course yes. This God, sometimes I think he is a Nigerian. We ought to have disappeared from this planet earth. Our stay here shows that he loves us beyond our imagination. He loves this great nation. You hold a world wide crusade every year, has it any impact in the state of the nation? Well, it’s difficult to judge and assess except what the Christians are doing there would have been no more Nigeria. we are where we are because of prayers being offered from different points, different churches, different Christian alters, not for his mercy Boko Haram would have crushed this nation long time ago. While we have not overrun the nation is a puzzle and a miracle. The program has affected the nation positively. Not for this prayer, the level of poverty in Nigeria would have overwhelmed this nation. How we survive economically is a puzzle. Do you know there are states where workers have not been paid for nine months but they are alive. It’s a miracle. There are broken roads. In the entire east, we don’t have any functioning roads. From Uyo to Calabar there’s no road, from Calabar to Ogoja there’s no road, from Enugu to Port Harcourt there’s no road, from Aba to Port Harcourt there’s no road, from Uyo to Aba there’s no road, from Uyo to Umuahia there’s no road, from Owerri to Port Harcourt there’s no road. How the people are survivinng in this country only God made it possible. Who should be blamed for all these? We blame everybody. The leadership you find in every country is the bad product of that nation. About Boko Haram what should the government do? The government should find out why they are protesting, why they are fighting and sort it out quietly. Crisis is only an expression or a demonstration of somebody asking for something and nobody listening to him. If they can listen to the agitators and answer their questions there will be peace all over the country. Could you tell us about your forthcoming Uyo Miracle convention We are bringing about eight speakers; we are all variously and differently anointed. We don’t have the same calling; we don’t have the same measure of anointing. Solomon was greatly anointed but he was anointed in wisdom and creativity sand imagination. Was anointed to generate wealth and create wealth. He was given wisdom of administration. The man we call Elijah was anointed to bring down the power of God and do the impossible. He was a man that could compel God to cancel his programs in heaven and come down to this world to do his bidding. The man we call Elisha, he was a different breed altogether. Elisha could heal various sicknesses, he could also demonstrate what we call the miracle of judgment which not everybody has such anointing. We are going to bring a collection of preachers who have various anointing. In this program which I have done for almost 10 years now, we are going to bring different preachers with different anointing to demonstrate the anointing of God upon them. It will start on a Sunday and ends on a Sunday. We are going to provide about 50 buses a day. We are ready to go as far as 100 buses a day. The crusade starts on the 13th day of December and end on the 20th of December. We are bringing down the best musicians the country has, who will lift the worship to high level. What people don’t know is, God will not show up without a good song inviting him. Song is higher than prayers. Paul and Silas prayed nothing happened then they began to resort to praises then God did the impossible. I am an apostle of music. I bought musical instruments into the churches in the East in 1972 when it was forbidden. When it was a taboo. A pastor in 1972 grabbed the microphone and said Uma has come to destroy the church or he will kill the church with these instruments. These guitars are demon possessed, the drums are demon possessed, the organ demon possessed, kill this young man , I grabbed the microphone from him and said to God, between the two of us whosoever wants to destroy the church kill him and kill him this week. If its me, I’m ready to die, if he’s the one let him die. He died that week. I’m happy and excited music is now in all the churches. In the morning sessions we have pastor’s conference. Pastor’s conference because the only mountain there is in life is the mountain of ignorance. Pastors don’t need to be paid by any church; they need to be a blessing to their members so that they can be a blessing to them. At the meeting we had in Port Harcourt, I announced that 100 women with fibroid will shrink after prayers and when we counted the number we have 158. I announced that God will heal 1,000 people without prayers and when we counted we had more than 1,200. SOURCE: http://www.afikpochicupdates.com/14296

Ibrahim Babangida, former military president, says he is ready to vote for an Igbo president in 2019. In a chat with The Interview, a magazine focused on leading professionals and politicians, IBB, as he is fondly called, described the agitation for Biafra republic as a distraction. “We do not need this distraction now,” he was quoted as saying, adding that, “I will vote for an Igbo president in 2019, if I find one.” He also revisited one of the most controversial issues involving him – the death of MKO Abiola, acclaimed winner of the June 12 1993 election. He said he recieved the news of his death with shock but without regret. Responding to the question whether he believed that Abiola died of natural causes, Babangida said: “I should know? I didn’t serve the tea!” According to Azu Ishiekwene, managing director of The Interview, the retired general also spoke on his relationship With President MuhammaduBuhari, Vasta Mamman, IBB’s childhood friend who was executed on his orders, and Sani Abacha, former military ruler. Ishiekwene said in the magazine, which will be out next week. Babangida was also said to have revealed how Orji Uzor Kalu, former governor of Abia state, arranged a meeting between him and Buhari in 2006. “One thing you guys in the media want is for us to be exchanging words with each other each time we see,” he reportedly said. Ishiekwene added that “Babangida spoke on the two ‘most traumatic’ coups during his eight-year regime – the Mamman Vatsa and Gideon Orkar coups – revealing, for the first time, a meeting he had with Vatsa before his trial began. “The interview also covered Dele Giwa and the C130 Hercules plane crash in Ejigbo, which left 150 military officers dead.” A statement issued by Ishiekwene, revealed that Femi Falana, notable human rights lawyer, also spoke with The Interview. “In the same edition, frontline lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana, spoke on why he was dropped from the ministerial list, while the new President of Mauritius, Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, gave African leaders some homework to do,” the statement read. “The edition also features interviews with leading South African Editor-In-Chief of City Press, Ferial Haffajee; young prodigy and Bill Gates scholar at Oxford, Ify Aniebo; and the D-G of NIMASA, Haruna Baba Jauro, with an extended version of Interview Confidential, the inside news in whispers.” thecable.ng SOURCE: http://www.afikpochicupdates.com/14286
