jpphilips: As a casual observer, I feel he did well. Himself and Maj Gen Lamidi Adeosun were outstanding field commanders of the whole Boko Haram war. No wonder they exchanged batons at the MNJTF. I also think the Rann bombing incident was a bad blot that was "unpardonable" for PR reasons. |

LTGEN: I think they should recruit about half of depot intakes from technical and specialized colleges. That creates a supply of semi-skilled recruits which are better/more easily trainable to fit into technical role that modern soldiering is fast evolving into. The benefit of technical/special college education at recruitment also helps with imbibed discipline. This does/should not in any way stop the quota for skilled artisans/tradesmen recruitment either. 2 Likes |

rka2: You're disappointed mostly because you got the whole thing twisted. Can you please show any credible reference anywhere that the Tucanos have been referred to as front line jets? Ground support is an aspect that we never really had, probably because our doctrine has been strictly conventional all these while. Thus we never had assets to fulfill that role. By the way, the regional threat assessment likely will be seeing more of counter insurgency sort of operations than conventional one, so the Tucanos are very very very required. Again, where did you see that we acquiring the Tucanos foreclosed acquisition of other combat keys? Isn't it after the much publicised confirmation by the US govt that we all had the snippet from minister of defence himself that Nigeria is considering YAKs and Migs? Gentleman, please save your emotions. You aren't more patriotic than anyone her, bro. By pls note, the fact that the honorable minister said it doesn't mean they're gonna do it (sooner). I understand that part of frustration. My whole point is that; 1. Tucanoes are very good strategic acquisition, 2. They weren't acquired to fill front line role 3. Having then doesnt prevent us from acquiring front line aircraft's 4. No any aircraft currently in NAF inventory can play CAS effectively and efficiently like it 5. Please CALM DOWN |

overhypedsteve: Calm daaaawn! Oga, calm down! Ok... Ok... You've made your point, and we can see with it that you know names of some combat aircrafts. Well-done... But still calm down. Your argument is faulty because you outrightly threw out reasonable explanation made to you by the poster above us. Read him again and listen, he isn't far from reality. Who go sell you AC130? Why una just like to dey drop big big names anyhow? Oya, show us which country US don ever sell AC130 give... On Super Tucano, you obviously know so little of the tactical usefulness of the aircraft, otherwise you won't mention BH attacking it with AAs. It will roast the AA convoy from BVR. Find out again what it's targetting pod and smart bombs are for. Who also told you it will be irrelevant in another 20-30 years? Are you aware that it's being touted as likeliest aircraft to replace the Warthogs in USAF? Bro, get your info right. I, for one, thinks it's good thin to get them. Then, we should get the YAKs to replace our Alphas, and mix of single (light) engine interceptors and double engine (heavy) multi role jets from Russia. That mix should be good for next 30 yrs, while we move on to heavy and light lift capability replacement program me. 5 Likes |

IgboSubmarine: ^^^ This is atypical weakness and deceit characterizing the senseless IPOB shinenighan. Why are you online barking at the Hausa, Fulani, Yoruba and every other person when the current and one of the most powerful serving ministers, Rotimi Amaechi, is a full blooded Igbo man and a SSner? Why didn't you mobilize with elders of Igbo land and SS to strategize with him on geopolitical needs while he's in power? Unfortunately, you won't. Rather, you'll court and defend Bishop the drug lord for convenience and yet cut your own nose to spite Amaechi's face, and still come here to rant about. Guess what? With this kind of thinking, you will end up raising children who will be complaining like this you are doing to their own children too in the future. EDIT: What stops IPOB from having agreement with Ohaneze, ASPANDA and other trading blocks to use ➕ of One, PH, and Calabar ports? Is it impossible to influence, after influencing a sit at home order? Stop grumbling and throwing tantrums, think and strategize. 4 Likes |

In fact, Sahara desert has been crossroads of international/continental trades for thousands of years, so there are well worn trade routes and rest points for those who know the place very well. Now , try Antarctica. That's the most brutal place on earth. 4 Likes |
Career / Re: What Do You Think Of Female Engineers? by homerac7: 7:31am On Jun 10, 2017 |
Worked with several. On average, female engineers are very professional and capable. You only should know not to overburden them with too much physical tasks. Apart from that, they are usually fantastic to work with. A female mechanical fitter and another female machinist contributed immensely to my workshops trainings as a pupil engineer. They taught me with ease and allowed me to take up tasks. As junior engineer, I found female senior engineers as competent and detailed as their male colleagues. As maturing engineer, I hardly see gender when we are at work. They go toe to toe with you (apart from the natural fact that they carry more of family responsibilities to work place- which nobody can do anything about it) |

Evrytime I come here to read long epistles people write here in putting one defence system above the other, typically Russian vs American, I laugh. You sit down here in your comfort zone far away in Nigeria and analyse what you know so little about based on what you read on the internet. If it's all so available on the internet then no need of "technology transfer/sales/acquisition" terms any more. I salute all Lili"Putians" here o! |

Hope they aren't gonna be the new EU mole in ECOWAS, to be used to achieve the regional market destruction which they've so far failed to achieve through the Francophone states that can't get around Nigeria as bulwark. Then again, they should be ready to open negotiatons with Western Sahara as precondition. Collonial occupation is out of fad. Morrocco needs ECOWAS more than the reverse case. They have Western Sahara to contain on their western front, vulnerable Tunisia with her own local insurgency challenges on eastern front, spill over from failed Libya on far east, and a vast no-man's land crawling with growing number of armed terrorist groups and largest arms bazaar on southern boarder. With these, it's only a matter of time before the chicken come to roost. She will need more reliable allies than Ghaddaffi's Libya have. ECOWAS has 100% record in all her political interventions among her member states. No other regional group, anywhere in the world, boasts of better. Finally, there's economical 9 Likes |

chy4luv: Solution to your problem is not difficult. Only decide to be the more matured and tolerant one when argument arises. Don't shout back, rather "hold on" in your mind and call his attention to what he did calmly later by asking the "why" questions, and your opinion "suggested". This requires tact and self control, but you can master it quickly. Remember, you are also his mother, so indulge him like you would do with a teenage child. Two like charges wij always repel, while unlike charges will attract. Patience my dear. Patience. I wish you well. 1 Like |
Foreign Affairs / Re: The Mozambican Debt Crisis: How A Sovereign State Was Sold by homerac7: 6:30pm On Feb 12, 2017 |
Would it be a fair deal if FGN buys up the debt through NEXIM, for example, then draft out trade agreement, which includes Nigerian banks and insurance coys having foothold in the country, then flooding the academic space with Nigerians, and their govt projects with Nigerian firms, and open their markets up for Nigerian goods and Igbo traders. I'm sure we can recoup our investment in multiples within 10-15 years by direct and indirect value. For the debt buy back, NLNG or NIMASA can conveniently liquidate it. |
