Me think the period of observation is too short and that is an error flag by itself. Moreover if u work with ur 4.5% daily grown rate, do a simple forecast into next 100 days and tell me if ur projection makes sense.

^^

Though simplistic, but logical enough. Add income from natural gas. Nobody talks about that pot of gold.

I'm of opinion that FG earns over $100bn p.a. Also, if Fasholanomics is implemented at federal level, FG can easily net $250bn p.a.

Those denying probability of $20bn being stolen with little trace from FG coffers either are ignorant of how deeply corrupt and brazen govt officials are, or don't have a clue about the true scale of Nigeria's economy, or probably just don't know what to believe.

And the origin of the onion name which is "al-basa " in Hausa. "Al-basal" in Arabic.

Oh, really?! Thanks for the lesson bro!

@ others, thanks for the correction on my earlier post.
Education / Re: The Origin Of The Word Oyibo by homerac7: 3:56pm On Aug 08, 2014
omowolewa: Nice one
But I think 'Behkkeh' is the Ibo word for Oyinbo.
Or can we say 'Alubosa' (Onion) has a Ibo origin due to the fact that there is a word 'Alu' in Ibo language?
If 'Onye-Ibo' is person from Ibo land,
'Onye-Behkkeh' should be the Ibo translation of person from western nation
(No offence intended pls).

It does not in anyway discredit the postulation of OP.

Alubosa is part of Nigera north-south acculturation . ALUBOSA is onion in Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba along with hundreds of other minority languages. Same as box for APOTI in Yoruba, AKPATI in Igbo and AKWATI in Hausa. Rice is SHINKFA in Hausa while it is OSHIKPA/OSHIPAKA in Igbo. Numerous words as such aren't peculiar to a language.

Take your petty blackmail out of here. No one is interested. The army is as corrupt as other civil institutions. Everyone knows that. You may chose to ignore it. That is your cup of tea.

Thanks for that frankness. Its part of why I, for one, is not moved by this photo album session. Nobody is asking the army for its home video, all we require of them is to get the fckin job done! We can't be doing photo sessions here and loosing Gwoza, Damboa, Chibok and other areas along with heavy civilian casualties to a rag tag rebel group.

5 years into this conflict, no large scale acquisitions have taken place...just small bits and pieces here and there...bloggers on Beegeagle., have for several years analysed and made recommendations for acquisitions for the military...still, nothing substantial...let's hope this USD1bn will be properly utilized.

^^^

With due respect sir, this response is as lame as irresponsible as it is. A national army waiting on bloggers to equip itself? Which other nation does that sir?

Mind you, I'm also a commentator on that blog.

INFORMATION

NNS Aradu has left the dry dock at Wilmot Point. It is currently sitting at the navy dockyard, NNS Quorra. In other words it has completed its refit and is back in service. Although paint work hasn't been done on it as at the last time I saw it at the dockyard because one can see patches of where work were done on its hull. Tried taking pictures but my phone couldn't zoom in enough.

collynzo2: Bill Gates himself is a hypocrite, I know he is one of those who go around throwing that ''renewable energy'' shît, now he is shoving the fact that a state in the US produces more electricity than most African countries combined into our faces.
What he failed to tell us is that more than 50% of electricity in the US is gotten from coal, the same coal that they discourage foolish and gullible Africans from using in the name of environmental protection. The only African country that generates a reasonable amount of electricity, South Africa relies heavily on coal (about 90%) for its electricity generation.
Coal plants are relatively cheap, reliable and a single plant can produce as much electricity as all the Gas plants we have in Nigeria combined and multiplied by 2.

One of the many reasons why we will continue like this. Justifying the unjustifiable. can you imagine the amount of money ($16B) wasted with such insignificant impact on power in Nigeria. Let's stop the way we are doing things and see if we can wriggle out of our present quagmire. Call a spade a spade!

No, it's the gross ignominy you are projecting here that is the bigger problem. It is obvious that you have never done any qualitative objective research on issues of electricity in Nigeria pre-NIPP, intra-NIPP and present. If you know the details of NIPP, you will never ever claim that $16bn went down some imaginary drain. By the way, the investment on NIPP to date is in excess of $20bn. I hope it is still a wasted sum to you. Get knowledge bro.

Uyi Iredia: Meanhwhile, we've wasted $16bn on power under OBJ, widened the rich-ppor gap whilst managing to hold a very inefficent democratic regime, been given dull air by Jonathan, and a mediocre performance in Lagos is hailed as excellent. Nigeria has a long way to go. There's still hope though.

This malicious misinformation must stop! OBJ didn't waste or squander N16bn, it is the said cost of NIPP which was initiated and almost fully funded by him. Do you think the new power stations and infrastructures of NIPP being commissioned by UMY and GEJ were funded under CAPEX ? Please read up and learn. Stop peddling that lazy lie.

joeose: Hello peps I think we v to look for a way to get hold of these people. I also got a call this morning from one Engr. Mike Duru who claimed that he knew me from my former company he even mentioned the name of the company n I asked him how I may be of help n he said that he left Lagos for warri because he got a better offer. I congratulated him on his offer and he went on to ask me if I can help do a supply to a contractor I then asked what products he said PIPELINE indicators model SPN 1.8 that he was gonna call the contractor am to make supplies to (contractors name Hon. Stella Bingo) and also the distributor Elder Amadi who works with Suntech Engineering Company ipaja lagos.
I Played along and followed his instructions and called the contractor who said she needs 70 packets of the products that she would 450k each I then knew it was scam because I just called and had not even introduced myself and she already knew my name and was telling me exactly what mike had told me I told her I would get back go her and called elder Amadi who also played his own part as the distributor and in the end I told him to keep the quantity I ordered for me but my client wants to see samples of what she is paying for he then said ok but I was gonna pay for the sample I said no that we will go see the client together with the sample them immediately Mike called me and said he has spoken to Amadi that I should pay him like half of the money and promised to bring the balance later. I then called Amadi back and he accepted without any complaints then I laughed and called him a thief that I knew they were scams from the beginning but I only played along to waste their time then I also called the other parties . Please buddies be very careful so as not to fall victim to these lions. Wish you all a blessed and fulfilled 2014. Happy new year.

Good information....but wait!.....where is the full list of all the parastatals, departments and agencies? Until such is provided with names of their heads, vis-a-vis same info between years 1991 and 2005, then I take this as useless piece of nonsense. By the way, what kind of social justice rewards a man based on his religious affiliation rather than his skills and character? So until these men are proven to be less qualified on these attributes, these evil propagandists must shut up for good.

This news piece is funny, though erroneous. The mumu reporter mis-titled the article because the stated reason for the wahala wasn't the goat itself, but who owns the old tire used to roast the goat. This is very unfortunate.

By the way, those who are attacking a certain ethnicity here are not wise because poverty and ignorance in this nation know no tribe, religion and ethnicity, so the joke is on you people.

Every country has its place. South Africa is above Nigeria. SA's defence industry has for long produced weapons with performance in mind first not towards international sells. That's why many weapons that were used in Angola are still being used today and highly effect example being the Husky vehicle. What I'm trying to tell you is that whether Nigeria purchases more advanced weapons without a defence industry to back your military in terms of servicing, maintains, further development of systems and repair. Your country will never be compared militarily to SA.

mr doofus, did Cuba produce the weapons they used in pounding you at your own backyard? Keep hating, olodo

You SA guys amaze me with how you labour so hard to promote yourselves as eediots. It is funny how you never see anything good about Nigeria, yet you want your country to be respected. the latest being someone saying that in case of eventuality, SA will divert resources into war efforts and Nigeria won't be able to procure loans, isn't that a doltish thing to think or say ? The most resent resemblance of such situation with a foreign country was in 2003 just before the release of World Court judgement on Bakassi, when tension was high, Nigerian president requested for initial 50bn naita from National Assembly to start with which was speedily granted and told to forward a projection for subsequent requirements. Internal sources confirmed that ambassadors flooded Aso Rock that night along with arms manufacturers and dealers from their countries hoping to cut deals, also were lending bodies agents ! Guys, we know Nigeria is presently under-representing in most facets, but it can very fatal error to continue to reason about her as you SA guys have done so far. I sincerely hope that your government and military strategists don't reason like you guys.

6. Don Jazzy (He surely knows how to create the next "big celebrity" in the music industry, and has been rarely successful in keeping his private affairs "private"wink

7. Alh. Aliko Dangote/ Innosson ( Dangote for his ever expanding frontier role in Nigerian real sector, and Innosson's rising investments in automobile manufacturing)

8. Blessing Okhagbare/ Chukwumerije (Lone stars in the current dark sky of Nigerian athletics)

9. Golden Eaglets of Nigeria (True eaglets that brought us pride and joy)

10. Babatunde Raji Fashola ( Administrator per excellence)

I will by these set of criteria make a Top 10 list by opinion:

1. Nigerian Military/ Civilian JTF ( For their selfless efferts and sacrifices even by blood in NE Nigeria nad various other Peace keeping operations)

2. Steven Keshi ( For standing firm by his professional convictions and discipline even at face of losing public and administrative support before 2013 ACN, then going on to win the championship. More Nigerian professionals need this "dangerous resolute attitude", it's what brings about development )

3. Dr Akinwunmi Adeshina ( Agriculture has never had it so strong under any minister)

4. Sahara Reporter/ ASUU (Like them or hate them, you just can not ignore them)

5. "Angel Michael (R.I.P)" (The young man who risked his life to save a neighbour's baby trapped in an inferno in Benue State. Died from his burns)

2. His/Her work must be primarily focused on Nigeria/Nigerians
3. Such work as in (2) above must be accepted as having affected the targeted beneficiary group (No slide based performance thing o!...lol )
4. Such work as in (3) must be a positive type as it affects the society
5. Could be an individual or group or institution
6. It must be a representation of the best of us as a people
Politics / Re: Top 10 Nigerian Personalities Of The Year 2013 by homerac7: 11:15am On Jan 01, 2014
Of course, creating a list of top 10 Nigerian personality for the year will attract various compilations of people from diverse backgrounds and activities - who are mostly rightly qualified. But in order not to get boxed to such subjective selection process, it becomes essential that basic criteria be defined by which such list is complied.
Politics / Top 10 Nigerian Personalities Of The Year 2013 by homerac7: 11:10am On Jan 01, 2014
There is no better time than now to give opinions on who are the most positively outstanding Nigerian personalities in Nigeria for year 2013. This is because year 2013 is effectively ended by midnight yesterday, so everybody has had chance to claim the title by eleventh hour. Also, we are newly in year 2014 with fresh memory of people and events of the expired year.

The fake expert is foaming from his broomstick again Lagos will fall in a war against cameroon and thats a fact.
We all know France will back Cameroon and if Nigeria is the aggressor, international sanctions will be placed on your shi..thole and the long foreseen brake up will become a wonderful reality cool grin

^^^ are you related to Baba Suwe or Mr Ibu? grin grin grin

Ok, let's just for sake of this talk imagine that there's ever such very strong reason for Nigeria to go to war against Cameroun (remember that they are actually our ancestral cousins, thus for blood ties it is a distant chance), what do you think France presence will amount to? My friend, Nigeria will pound cameroun to smithereens, all France will do will be only peace-keeping . Do you know how much men, materiel and money it will cost France to try hold back Nigeria armed forces alone? it will take the whole of French army, Navy and sizable part of their airforce to check Nigeria back. If you are a half good analyst, you can imagine at what cost the will execute that, and that is if France will be willing to commit such amount of resources to save Cameroon without collaboration of NATO and US. Moreover, NATO and UN will never support any such military action that can weaken the Nigerian military, otherwise whole of West Africa and Central Africa will plunge into a very big chaos because of removal of that singular stabilizing factor. So who among them can afford to fund peacekeeping of such large area?

Now you see that Nigeria can, - and will strike Cameroun hard if need be , even at the very face of France . France can only maintain a defensive perimeter then influence EU and UN sanctions, but a military assault on Nigeria, NADA !!! They can't afford it both in emmediate cost and consequent cost. They would rather throw Cameroun away than lose out in an all out war here in Nigeria, far away from home.

is this a joke ? how does 2bn naira yearly grant accelerate development in 3 troubled states, not even a state, nor a local government council o!

I suspect this is a rush-rush act as aftermath of OBJs letter which in response to , GEJ talked about stimulus package. otherwise I don't see how a properly planned stimulus as will be required of such states be a paltry 2bn naira.
