The Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, on Wednesday, commissioned the FIFA-standard 2-Star turf of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, in Benin City.

Present at the commissioning were former members of Nigeria’s senior national football team, the Super Eagles, including Daniel Amokachi and Austin Okocha. Oshiomhole had noted at the inception of his administration the pitch and other facilities at the stadium were dilapidated and given their condition could not attract international matches. “Stakeholders, football administrators and players were unanimous that we needed to have a completely new pitch,” he said. “This new pitch is not only beautiful; it is user-friendly and minimizes the potentials of injuries to footballers.” The governor restated the commitment of his administration to the revival of sports and football in the state. “Our performance in sports has long been a heritage of Edo State, we have produced sporting administrators and legends,” he said. He appealed to the private sector to assist the state government in its quest to restore the lost sports glory of the state.

Showering praise

Speaking on behalf of the players, Amokachi said: “We know who you are and what you are doing in Edo State. When I landed at the airport this morning, I saw the massive road development you are working on. This turf is another testimony of what you are doing. I pray God to grant you the strength to conclude the good works you are doing.” Okocha also described Oshiomhole as “an active governor with a vision and a mission.”

Earlier, the Edo State Commissioner for Sports, Anita Evbuomwan, said the construction of the pitch is one of the most important developments in the state, stressing the determination of the Oshiomhole’s administration to develop sporting infrastructure for the use of professional and amateur sportsmen and women. The high point of the ceremony were two novelty matches. The first was between the executive arm of government, captained by Oshiomhole versus the State House of Assembly, captained by Bright Omokhodion; while the second involved former Eagles and Bendel Insurance FC.

Hehehehe. . .so you too noticed how fat those camerounians players are? grin but seriously we shouldn't underrate them o. I saw their match against the Falcons two years ago in Equitorial Guinea and we didn't dominate them. If anything, it was a balanced and even game.

Anyway, I hope our local stations televise our matches.
I hope so too, i hope Ait or galaxy is going to show it, na mouth Cameroon women get joor, see, with this squad we have, i see us beating any African team black and blue including Ghana and SA.

We are informed. Are we now emulating Brazil only in this regard? Brazil can chose to play any team. To even think of it, do u think Iran didn't pay heavily for that game? How much is Iran paying u for this game now? U don't know it all Honeric, don't claim to do.

No mind over sabi people. we only run away from embarrassing scorelines that will expose our lack of policy in sports admin. Nobody seems to value playing Nigeria period. wot does it show? our football has fallen to its lowest ebb. So we need to look inwards and start building our game out of its current cesspit. all the admins do is to fight for control of the office and money instead of making positive decisions like giving us a substantive coach and organising friendlies that will help us find out our loopholes and discover budding talents. Honeric and co, who know evry will take anything from d Glasshouse but the few of us will continue to recall d good old days and pray for its return.
Must you type? you guys complained about the quality of Iran and i made it known to you that big countries like Brazil also played them, so which one be oversabi here? undecided

We have played Brazil and big teams like the ones you mentioned before so what's the fuss all about? you want to play big team? answer me, with what players? you guys couldn't even beat Gambia, yet you want to go play Brazil/Germany/Spain? wetin dey do una self? who's going to pay for logistics and who's going to sponsor the game? you think it's all about playing friendlies abi? just like i said, GET INFORMED OR REMAIN DEFORMED!!!

for you information, CIV played cape Verde, Portugal played China, it's not a new thing, even Iran you are talking about is one of the super powers in Asian football, so quit your natural ranting jare! nothing in this world una no go complain put, do you even think the SE is relevant in the football world like the good old days? even Mauritius fit disgrace una, so you better remove that google wey u dey wear, shine your eyes, this is not 1994 shior!!!

Nigeria is not good, Nigeria is not good, yet those with insights and good eyes are coming in to invest, sit down there, be expecting angels to come build Nigeria for you, i just believe most Nigerians that are out there typing rubbish about Nigeria are cowards who can't fight for themselves.

while you are all whining and moaning, see others doing good to Nigeria, helping the country grow, seeing possibilities where your eyes can't comprehend.

League gets Nov 6 date

Posted: 2010-10-28 06:56

A new kick-off date of November 6 has been approved for the Nigeria Premier League by the board of the Nigeria Football Federation.

The 2010/2011 season has already suffered three postponements, and was due to kick-off last weekend.

But that date had to be put off when match officials could not be appointed as there was no NFF Referees Committee constituted to make the appointments.

That issue has now been resolved, with the committee set up, and the NFF has announced that the league will commence in November.

NPL chairman Davidson Owumi has been asked to appear before the NFF along with the aggrieved Rumson Baribote, former chairman of Bayelsa United, in order to seek a peaceful resolution to the dispute between both men arising out of the elections.

Donmeca:
When I started watching football, Nigeria used to play friendlies against teams in the calibre of England, Holland, Germany, Argentina and Brazil. At a point in our national life, we played lower teams like Jamaica and ghana almost every year until Ghana rubbished us (4-1) in England some years back. We also played even lower teams like saudi, Colombia, N & S Korea as our football fortunes continued to plummet. Now who are we playing? when other teams have defined their standards, weighed us and found us wanting (they reject our invitations/proposal by fire), we now play the lowest teams. . .best known for terrorism and nuclear wars "monging", than football. IRAN!!!! Chei! Our football has nosedived into bottomless pit. I won't watch dat match. Soon, we will register Somali, Yemen and Southern Sahara FAs with FIFA in order to have opponents for friendlies.

You asked a straight forward question for which a straight forward answer was given; the onus is therefore now on you to prove otherwise - simple, otherwise just keep quiet. cool cool
What answers did you provide? i asked you what are the major things your northern brothers do for the economic growth of this country, you went ahead to post indexes that put Agriculture at 41%, is that your proof that the north is doing something for the country's economic growth? i never knew the North was the only part of Nigeria Agriculture is practiced, the other parts of the country must be vary barren, infact they don't farm elsewhere except the north.

I will help you by posting the GDP of all the northern states, so we all can see what actually your brothers are doing for this nation.

The EUR/USD will generally show a downtrend today with the price ranging between 1.3852 and 1.3767 during the London session. Target entry price may be either 1.3836 or 1.3852

But if the price rallies around 1.3810 and does not go further north, enter a sell order.
entering short at the bolded to me is not a good idea, it's better to short in the "short circle" because if price goes up to like 1.3880 or higher, it will open the way for 1.39 and even further up.
