Jeboy:
You earlier explained a scenario where let's say the applicant leaves Canada after extending his visitor visa to visitor record and then reapplies for visitor visa outside Canada...you said siuch extension to visitor record could be a trust issue for earning visitor visa . What about if the visitor record (extendion) is still valid in Canada and the spouse of the student wants to convert to SOWP with spouse PGWP and full time offer, how can an ongoing extension be a blocker for incountry applicantion for SOWP in this case if they have requested extension via visitor record? Pls enlighten us.
Extending could be an issue if, after spending one year in Canada, you depart and suddenly return within a short period, even if your visa is still valid. I understand your question, but most of those loopholes are being blocked by IRCC. What people do is, after completing a course, they flagpole at the land border to get a PGWP instantly, and the husband gets an SOWP if the wife has a valid job offer. However, that option is now closed as PGWP via flagpoling has been stopped. Additionally, any other category of flagpoling is now done only at selected border crossings, unlike in the past when you could go to any border crossing. This means you have to apply inside Canada online and wait up to 3 to 6 months as the processing time could change. During this period, the main applicant is allowed to work pending the outcome of the PGWP, but the spouse cannot apply for an SOWP until the PGWP in approved .

So, imagine a guy arrives in Canada with his wife, a student on a 1-year diploma course, and he arrives on a visitor visa. After 6 months, he manages to extend his stay, which is not guaranteed but at the discretion of the IRCC officer. Let's assume he is successful and gets another 6 months, making it one year. Then, the wife graduates, applies for a PGWP, and is waiting for the PGWP. What will happen to the guy after one year when his wife's PGWP is not ready yet.
Again, I advise anybody coming to Canada as a student to think beyond that one-year course. You can only get a PGWP once, and after one year, if you are not nominated for PR or cannot get an LMIA, then that's the end. This is part of the issue many students are currently facing after a 1-year PGWP. What most students are doing now is either going for a master's or another one-year diploma program, which is not cheap, especially with the current job situation in Canada. IRCC noticed many students are changing schools, so they announced a new rule to change courses or schools inside Canada; you have to apply for a new visa, unlike in the past where you just notified IRCC of the change in writing without needing to apply for a new visa. All these changes are coming into effect soon. I wish all the students good luck; it really is not as easy as people at home think, being an international student in Canada.
Sometimes, the law could be interpreted differently depending on the officer. I know a guy last year who arrived with a visitor visa and whose wife was a diploma student. At that time, the spouse of a diploma student was still entitled to an SOWP. However, the officer he met asked him why most people do not apply for an SOWP in their home country but come to Canada on a visitor visa and rush to the land border for an SOWP. The officer asked the guy what he told them at the airport when questioned, and the guy said he was visiting his wife. The officer refused his request and told him to go back to Nigeria and apply for an SOWP. Someone suggested he change his border entry and go to another entry point. He wasted a lot of money flying to another province, but the initial officer had already made a note on his file. When he arrived at another land border, the officer asked him only one question: "You applied last week and were refused and told to go home, but why are you here again" The officer asked for a copy of his return ticket, which he provided. The officer stamped his passport with a date just three weeks away, matching the date on his return ticket, and told him that if he did not depart Canada on or before that date, he would be illegal.

My spouse also got his PPR and I want to apply for VV for myself and daughter. Pls how long does the visit visa last? Is it a 6months time frame or I can stay as long as it's valid?
If your spouse is not a master’s or PhD student, you will only get a visitor visa. However, your daughter can get a visitor record inside Canada that will allow her to stay based on the duration of your spouse’s study permit. you can only stay for a maximum of six months on a visitor visa. You can extend it, but you cannot work, so be careful. Staying 6 month and unnecceary extension might affect your chances of getting a one or three-year open work permit when your spouse qualifies for a PGWP, depending on the length of studies after completing the program. Plan ahead on how to get a SOWP when your spouse graduates and tell ur spouse to start considering the PR route now.

As I stated, she’s a cousin and I don’t have a picture of us together. What other proof of relationship will be needed?

I also asked if cousin is categorized as family when filling online
A cousin is the child of your aunt or uncle. In other words, your cousin is the son or daughter of one of your parent's siblings. Even if you don't have photos, gather other documents to support your application. You can also draw a family tree in your letter of support (a family tree is a simple diagram of how you are related). Ask your cousin to write an invitation letter including her birth certificate ,Pr card or passport if a citizen. The letter should include her contact information, details about your visit, and a statement about your relationship.

I just submitted my visitors visa but some of the the money in my bank statement submitted are from my money market investment, Can i take my money back to my money market investment or keep it the bank statement ? Kindly advice , but i have access to the money anytime i need it .
Ps: the money market investment give me 250k monthly, I dont want to lose my monthly income because I am keeping money in my bank account for embassy.

Guru in the house please advise @house34
Sure, you can invest your money in market investments. . As a visitor visa applicant, you can use your money; just make sure the bank statement you submitted is from the bank. The embassy could directly ask the bank if the statement you provided to support your application was indeed issued by them as you claimed in your application. Even if they ask for an updated account, an investment in the money market also shows you have access to the funds. Please, do not leave your money idle in the account if you can invest it to make more profit because the visa process can take six months or longer!

Hello,

I do not know if this question has already been answered but I just need urgent clarification

I am traveling from Abuja to Toronto, via lufthansa but transiting through Frankfurt and Paris.

I hold both a Canadian Visa and an American Visa.

Do I still need a Transit Visa.

All responses are highly appreciated.

Thank you
You need a transit visa with your Canada and USA visas since you are traveling through more than one Schengen country (france, germany)as a Nigeria passport holder

Pls I need advise, is there anyone who applied for visitors visa that funded his/her account with some amount of money and claim that he sold some of his/her property to fund the bank account? I want to know if I sold some of my properties to fund my bank account and back it up that I sold one of my properties, then i will say i have business here in Nigeria that my sells boy will be looking after it till i come back from my travel, i don't know if it's okay house? Pls I need advise on how to reapply again.
Stating that you sold your property to fund your account specifically for a visitor visa is a red flag. Remember, it's a visitor visa, not a student visa, which could have a long-term impact on your life because selling some property to fund education is usually more accepted. It's important to show that you have a stable financial situation and strong ties to your home country. Selling property just to fund your account for a visitor visa application might raise concerns about your intentions.

I understand the more time your application takes, the higher your chances of approval. If the application was not going to be approved, it would have been thrown out long ago.. usually 3weeks - 1month latest
Many things are changing, and now it's even the other way around: the longer your processing time, the less the chance of approval. I remember last year, people who applied for conference visas got visas even after the conference date. But now they are being refused under "purpose of travel" when I see a GCMS note that states the purpose of travel is already invalid. Even for those who applied on time, the GCMS note just pastes the same "purpose of travel and finance or Insufficient Assets" without explanation, compared to the more detailed student visa GCMS note!

I applied for study permit and VV for my spouse. Study permit approved and spouse VV is still pending. Has anyone seen this scenario before? How long did it take?

Thank you!
Some people have had similar situations recently since the no SOWP restriction started. Unless you are a master's or PhD student, your spouse does not qualify for SOWP. IRCC is sometimes slow with the visitor visa application for the spouse of a student, but not in all situations. Sometimes it processes like a normal visitor visa application that could take six months, and there is no guarantee it will be accepted or rejected. Congratulations on your study permit.

Inquiring about the Job-specific work permit (Closed) - I saw some screenshots while reading up on this thread, they seemed like portal pages. Is there a portal where the status of the LMIA can be viewed and attached to individual applications, if yes - are we responsible for reviewing the page or is that done automatically?
Be careful of LMIA scams. Many people are being scammed and stranded both inside and outside Canada. You cannot track LMIA and cannot confirm its genuineness until you apply for a visa. Stay vigilant!

If you know this guy in person and can provide details about his current address in canada you can go to the nearest police and report snd get your reward as he is wanted for scam.. he claims to be visa agent and scammed unsuspecting victims and used their money to travel as he had already gotten visa from agent..

I don't have his details only stanbic bank details and photos. If you also have dealings with him you can come forward with your own receipts
If you claim that someone scammed you publicly, then be prepared to explain the full details of what happened, how you got scammed, what service the person was offering, and what they promised you. Additionally, let people be cautious of visa agents or anyone asking you for money in exchange for a visa; they are not visa officers, and nobody can guarantee you a visa.

You can use ur bank statement as POF However, the visa officer may want to know why an adult is being sponsored to attend a conference for a tourist visa if the adult truly has a good home tie and finances.

please can one sponsor his wife for Canadian tourist visa (conference) like using my own bank statement supported with notarized sponsorship letter
Sometimes, we need to look at an application from a realistic point of view. Firstly, why do you want to sponsor your wife to attend a conference? How will the conference benefit your family life, empower your wife economically, or connect to her job? What is her financial strength? Is the conference not available locally? Many people have used the same method to get conference visas and then become asylum seekers in Canada. Therefore, it is important to package her application well this is 2024 and canada visa is not as usual easy path again!

My passport is valid for only 8 months
That means if I submit it, I’ll be given 8 months Canadian visa

I proceeded to renew my passport online and immigration denied my application saying I can only renew a passport with less than 6 months validity

Please help me, I don’t know how what to do again

I’m sad and depressed
You said you had U.S. visa earlier and now has a Canada visa approval. If you claims your passport is missing just to get canada visa 10 years , please be aware that the U.S. and Canada share a database. If you later appear at the U.S. border with the same passport you reported missing, you could face some issues. Be careful!

Thank you very much for your respond i do really appreciate .

I use the new IRCC and i received ]INVITE CODE so i don't why there was no place for me to fill my wife form i created group from the start am confused honestly
Firstly, delete the current one you filling and start again at the beginning of the form, it appears asking if you are applying as a group. You need to select "Yes" and then choose "Family." This will give you the option to fill out the form for your wife. I just checked, and the online form is still the same for filling out. It seems there was an error on your part. Please check again or follow a YouTube video on how to fill out the Canada visitor application form.

Please I want to know how seeking an extension via visitor record can diminish the chances of getting a visitor visa when it's the IRCC that also approve such visitor extension to applicants based on merit of their case.

Please help me out as I want to be guided.
Very simple. You claim in your application that you have a job, family back home as your home tie and going for 10 days holiday in Canada , but suddenly you arrive in Canada and spend 6 months as a visitor. Then you ask for an extension because you need more time to visit other locations in Canada which was granted by ircc , making it 1 year as a visitor. After that, you travel home, stay for 2 months, and then come back to visit again. You may likely be refused entry because you are no longer behaving like a genuine visitor. I have seen that before. The guy even went to Mexico, stayed for 2 weeks, and then came back to Canada, he was refused entry but decided to claim asylum but his case was given expedient hearing date as they see him as suspicious and it all end in asylum rejection after 5 month waiting period and over 2 hours of questioning at the asylum hearing by the judge .

Thank you all for your inputs

Another thing is that, I heard if you submit 10 year’s passport, you’ll be issued a 10 years visa

Omooo. Is it not better I go do a new passport like this ? Because my current one expires in 3 years time and that means they will give me 3 years visa
I hope you are aware that having a 2,3 or 10-year visit visa does not mean you can stay in Canada for 2,3 or 10 years as a tourist. The maximum stay at any given time is 6 months or less, depending on what the border officer decides. An extension for another 6 months is possible, but it is not automatic and may diminish your chances of returning to Canada in the future.

And I also read American threads alot and Americans qualify their own country as third world country and wanting out. At the end of the day, we need to focus on our goals and not be overly concerned about the negative thoughts on social media. If we focus on them you would think North America is hell haha.
Let's put sentiment aside and face reality. People sharing their life difficulties and challenges on social media are not expressing negative thoughts; they are reflecting the current situation in Canada. Ignoring warning signs and critical information can leave anybody, especially students, stranded. Canada of ten years ago is not the Canada of today. People stay in survival jobs for longer periods as alternatives become harder and more difficult to find. Most information shared here is reality, not just thoughts. Anyone coming to Canada now should be prepared physically, financially, and mentally

What I attached was my current domiciliary bank account. I earn in USD and I had over 100k when I applied. I did attach my offer of employment also but I guess that was not enough.

Thank you for the reply. Wdyt about attaching a printed statement of account or request from my bank
it not about your bank statement alone but You need a proper explanation and more documentation of how you have over $100,000 USD in savings . You need a breakdown of your earnings and proof of source of these funds. If your salary is the only source of this $100,000, then you need to include your pay slips, tax slip explain how you source your money and convert it to USD, provide property documents, and detail your monthly expenses and savings. When you reapply, the next visa officer will review the previous officer's notes.

I got my gcms note on my refusal.

=====
I have considered the following factors in my decision.

After a review of the proof of funds provided, I note that limited explanation on the source of these funds were included. With this, I have concerns with the applicant's ability to support the stated purpose of travel for themselves or to show that they are financially established in their country of residence.
Upon reviewing the documents and information provided with this application, I am not satisfied that the purpose of their intended stay is justified or that their visit to Canada is temporary.

Weighing the factors in this application. I am not satisfied that the applicant will depart Canada at the end of the period authorized for their stay.
For the reasons above, I have refused this application.
=====

I did submit my employment letter and it can be seen clearly that all the credits in the account were from my employer. I wonder why they couldn’t just figure that part out.

And yes, I had more that enough in the account.

Is it possible to appeal this decision?
If I were to submit a new application, do you suggest I still submit a printed statement account from GTBank or I should request GT to send it to the embassy?
The visa official likely doubted the source of your funds because, for example, earning 250,000 naira monthly while showing 30 million in your account without a proper explanation can raise significant concerns. It's not solely about the substantial closing balance; other factors such as clear documentation of the source of your funds are crucial considerations in their visa decision-making process.

Under Canada's Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, there is no formal right of appeal for temporary resident decisions. to ircc Instead, you have the option to reapply or seek judicial review at the Federal Court of Canada and you need hire a Canadian lawyer to handle this process, as it can be costly (approximately 3500 CAD or more ) and time-consuming (4 months to 1 year ). Personally, considering the uncertainty of success in court, it may not be a prudent decision to pursue an appeal through this route as reapplying still remain the best option.

But some people heartless in Canada. My brother was supposed to pay rent by June 30, and we're still trying to arrange the money to send to him as he's not working yet. Yesterday, July 7, his roommate threw him out and rented the room to another person who will move in the next day, in a shared bedroom... just a 7-day rent delay. That's terrible!!
7 days delay in rent is too long in Canada.I think there's a misunderstanding about how bills payment work abroad. The roommate likely isn't the homeowner, and your brother's non-payment will impact him too. If rent isn't paid, the landlord may evict everyone. . In this case, the roommate asking your brother to leave for non-payment isn't unfair.it's not a village town hall; It's a rented share room, with payments due on a set date, just like the landlord's mortgage. Canada can be expensive, so students should prepare financially before arriving and be wary of agents or Hollywood movies that may paint an unrealistic picture. Life abroad isn't always easy; it's essential to be aware of the realities and getting a job as a student to pay your immediate bill in Canada is not guaranteed.you have to send your brother money to found alternative accommodation or he will be homeless on the street because even the homeless shelter are filled up and no bed space !!
