Good day @TBDL, Did you get any feedback from the SIU - Special Investigations Unit? Well, I did and gave the officer a call as to clarify my driving history. All he wanted to know was whether I followed the process contingent on obtaining the Naija license - driving school, knowledge tests, road tests, learner's permit, and then the main license. He even asked if I paid to get the license. So I believe if you get your facts right - which I did as I waited a couple of days, gathering insights before calling - you should be fine. It's not that deep. [quote author=TBDL post=68004767] |

I am currently trying to fix this for mine as well. I sent you a pm. Cheers. |

Thank you, ma'am. I have AMA membership - maybe this would subsidize the cost of having an instructor prior to the road test. My documented - original - history back in Naija is just a little over a year. But then, I should visit them later this week to ascertain what will actually be. Thanks again. vcole: you are right. The rules haven't changed. <1year driving experience = class 7 for 1yr, then 3 yrs GDL until a full G class license, 1yr but less than 2yrs = class 7, waiver from gdl to take basic road test and then when driving experience has clocked 2yrs, clearance to take class 5 advanced road test. 2yrs experience and above, clearance to take advanced road test. As at last year, most driving instructors charged $110 for 2hrs. This does not include places like AMA driving school though, they are more expensive. @htc2017, click on my moniker and try to read my posts from August, 2017, I believe I dropped some tips there. In summary, read the book, practice driving, watch youtube videos, if you're in Calgary get your road test done at a NE registry, get an instructor for about an hour to take you through the test routes prior to the test. |

Thank you for your concern. I gave the below update earlier - perhaps you missed it. So I called the SIU this morning and spoke at length with the officer who had earlier commented on my GDL exemption application.
Long story short... application now approved. He said I can go for a road test any time from tomorrow.
Now, any advice/insights on acing the road rest at once? Thanks!!!freeradical: Well you probably applied for the GDL exemption with a fake license. I had the same issue even though I did not know it was fake before I submitted. There are security features on the license which you cannot spot with your naked eye but they do with their equipment.
Like @fusion said you can appeal the decision by calling the number on that your exemption letter which is the special investigation unit like I did. Take whatever documents u have to prove your case and go for the interview. Your best line of defense will be that you got a license from an agent inside FRSC. The interview can be intense because those guys are peace officers but if you have a letter of drivers record from FRSC they will accept that. Get your story straight and appeal. |

Very key. Noted: Keep in mind that the class should take you through examiners favourite routes. Do you by any chance have any idea how much the class would cost? Please and thank you. salford1: Keep in mind that the class should take you through examiners favourite routes. Yeah. Your friend with your side certainly helps too. |

Oh, thanks! As for the basic or advanced, I'll call to confirm. I have a friend who has allowed me to be driving his car "with him beside me according to the law here" just to familiarize with the roads and get comfortable prior to the road test. Maybe this would help too, in addition to the driving classes, as you advised. salford1: congrats. Were you approved for the basic or Advanced. Basic is like 20min road test and advanced is about 45min. I would advice you take the advance if you are in a technical field or one that requires use of vehicle. It's a bit costly than the basic. Basic is simpler to pass. In both cases, you might want to take driving classes. Go on kijiji or go to a registry and pick business cards. Ask whichever instructor you go for if the training would be done on a similar route used by examiners. |

Thank you for the detailed feedback. So I called the SIU this morning and spoke at length with the officer who had earlier commented on my GDL exemption application. Long story short... application now approved. He said I can go for a road test any time from tomorrow. Now, any advice/insights on acing the road rest at once? If the date your license was issued was over one year but below three years, then the one year wait on class 7 would be waived, but you would still be on the GDL program i.e. class 5 basic for two years. if the license was issued over three years ago, then you should get the GDL waiver and be allowed to take your advanced road test aftet passing the knowledge test.
If your date of issue was less than one year at the time of submission to an Alberta registy, then you would have to complete the full three years GDL program i.e one year on class 7 and two years on Class 5 basic.
If you feel you satisfied the requirement, then you might want to go back to the registry to initiate a review of your submission. |

Just a little over a year. It is original. No, I don't have FRSC letter. MummyJaygirls: How long have u had d license for? Is it original? You should go to the registry so they explain well. Do u have frsc letter? |

Yes, I had my biometrics (digital fingerprints and special camera picture) captured at the same time at zonal office of the FRSC salford1: Let me explain further what Fusion actually meant about being original.
He was asking if you had your biometrics (digital fingerprints and special camera picture) captured at the same time at zonal office of the FRSC?
I hope you are aware that FRSC officials are also the number one crooks in giving out fakes. |

I have just a little over a year documented history. It was issued by the FRSC in the local government area and I got it myself. Fusion23: What registry did you use, how many years was on your naija license, most importantly was your naija license original ??
Normal you should get a call from the special investigation unit of minsitry of transportation..so u need to asnwer those before getting back to them. i was told am qualified for class 5 even thou my original license was just over a year.. I didnt use the fake which had over 4 years. |

How far bro? Hope you've been able to ace your A+ exam by now... DadR: Yeah, am actually in Lagos. I registered at New Horizon, Surulere Campus. Lecture fee is 59k for weekend classes for 3 months. Exam fee should be less than 100k. If you'd like to join, it's a good time to register as classes would be starting afresh any moment from this Saturday or next.
Cheers. |

Hello People of God!
Driver's License issue here o. Please assist.
I've passed the knowledge test and dropped my Nigerian license. They issued a Class 7 license and told me to check back for a possible upgrade to Class 5. To my surprise, I got a feedback that "At this time, your GDL exemption cannot be considered. The driving license that was submitted from Nigeria does not comply with the required standards to sufficiently support your driving history."
I want your advice before I ask them to explain what they are talking about...cos I don't understand. I'm in Alberta.

Hello DadR, Where did you register for the Comptia A+ classes and how much is the whole package? I'm guessing you're in Lagos. DadR: This is quite cool. I'm also in the process of moving to Canny. Though my work experience is in banking but I'm interested in switching career to IT. To this effect, I have registered for Comptia A+ classes and will write the exams immediately after lectures.
It will end in praise! |

Assuming you have access to a Nigerian bank's USD denominated card: - 1040CAD = 835USD approx - Buy dollar from aboki @364 as at today and load your card. That's about 303,940NGN. - For buffer, you can buy 850USD from aboki, ie. 309,400NGN -Final answer = 309,400NGN approx as at today. Julie2018: Please what’s the naira equivalent for 1040 CAD? |

Wow! All the best! I hear the LVO has woken up now tho geebaby10: Yes I have thank you.
At the bottom I saw the notes. Everything seems to be fine. I only saw one review required. It was beside my my criminality check. It said that my Nigerian Police Certificate was okay then put review required. And the date was 15 August. I am guessing this is because I have many trips to the UK and it probably looked like it was up to 180 days in total. It explains why I received an ADR for travel history the day after this note.
Then I saw another note that just mentioned my US visa refusal.
Every other thing looks in order so I hope its just to wake for LVO to do their work. From the notes it shows they haven't picked my file up at all. All the notes are by CIO |

While your perspective is quite apt, I am not sure it is entirely generic in approach as regards Naija banks. So, let the customer approach his/her bank for official position and modus operandi. Kontagious: Bro, the Dollar card does not work like the Naira card which guarantees automatic access to your Naira account. If you have a USD dorm account, holding a Dollar card for that account is optional but if you request for a card, a sub account will be opened for the card. In effect, the card does not give you access to your dorm account. For example, if you have say $10k in your dorm account, you can't spend that money using your card unless you first transfer the money to the card account.
To bring it home, you have a dorm account with a credit of $60k (twale alaye Santino1 ) and you want to pay for your family's app fee + RPRF which cost $2,080. Just by virtue of you holding a dollar card will not make the transaction successful if you fill in the card details, but you have to first move $2,080 or more from your dorm account to the Dollar account before the transaction can go through. So, you can have $57k in your dorm account and just $3k in your card account.
Due to card frauds and bois not smiling, your money is much more safer in the dorm account than in the card account. Hence, it's usually advised you keep the barest minimum or just what you need at the moment in your card as your money might mysteriously grow wings one beautiful night [s]while you're samankweing. Imagine receiving a $60k debit alert in the act [/s] . |

Wow! This is enlightening. Canadianfly: I can give my 2 cents on Egypt Air as I have flown them from Canada to Abuja before. And my advice is RUN! Especially if you'll be traveling with kids. There are no IFEs to start with, so be prepared to entertain your kids for that long ass journey. Then if y'all transit through Cairo, OYO is your name. Nothing to do at the airport but to walk to your gate and wait it out. Addis Ababa is much better sef. However, if you really don't care for comfort on this journey because you are leaving for good and to hell with Naija then go with them. |
