michlins: go for it. I don't have a great network in my area and yet it's much better than Airtel How's you experience with its streaming? |

Unfaized: From midnight till day time I get up to 50mbps consistently and can stream anything. But between 6/7pm till 12 a.m it's dead, we're talking kilobytes. Unfortunately most of the World Cup games are played at this hour so I've been suffering. This is horrible. I know you must be itching to lay your hands on the MTN ODU |

Unfaized: Airtel will soon have your time haha..
Just get the mtn by the side, no harm in having both. Lol, I've been using the Airtel ODU since October last year. I've seen all there is to see. My number one priority is streaming Cos I used it to replace my DStv. Before this world cup, when the league seasons were still on, I wouldn't dream of streaming a live match in HD. Champions league nights were even worse. But I noticed all that has changed recently. Been streaming all world cup matches in HD without any buffer. I don't know if they improved by themselves or their hands were forced by MTN's competing ODU. Or is it even the servers I'm using to stream World Cup. I just know there's been glaring improvement |

williams85: Exactly my point. I lost two projects just because Airtel wanted to be unfortunate. MTN with its 5G has been stable in my area. Having a package like ODU is almost same as fiber x. MTN is strong in my area in Enugu but I don't have 5G. Should I still go for it? Abi make I stick with Airtel? For context, Airtel used to be horrible once it's 7pm but during this world cup it's been mostly excellent. So what do you recommend? |

fuckboys: not to me anyway cos I get between 45 - 55 mbps steadily on the ODU sim on x25pro even on peak hours. Is the X25 pro a type of 4G smart box? |
Phones › Re: Airtel Unlimited Data Thread! Best Data Plan In 2024!! by Hullabaloon: 6:25am On Jun 26 |
fuckboys: Reset your 4g box and it will start blazing again. Don't you think the bolded is an exaggeration. ODU sim in a smart box is just barely has any meaningful speed. I use it as a mifi every time I want to spend hours away from my house. No matter the location, the speed is always terrible. That box is one of the worst devices to come from Airtel. |

NSEstudent: Stop checking live scores and enjoy the free streaming. You'd hardly get ones with exact timing. You took the words outta my mouth. Cos I ditched DStv over 8 months ago when I bought my ODU. Switched to streaming and never had the need to notice the streaming Apps are 30 secs behind. |

I've been streaming the world cup in HD channels and it's not because Airtel is the best network here (average speed is 20 to 25mbps). But I noticed an improvement in streaming speed on my PC when I switched from WIFI connection to Ethernet.
Ran an Ethernet cable from indoor router straight to my PC. And it's been incredible so far

gambus007: I think they have stopped that. I did almost 2TB last month with a consistent speed of 48 to 49.1 Mbps throughout the month. Just out of curiosity, what are you doing with data to hit almost 2TB monthly? Highest I have ever hit is the one I currently have, 700gb and that's because of the world cup |

House, out of curiosity, I want to ask: is there any one here who by virtue of staying in a good location, can say they stream champions League at night in HD without any buffering?
Anyone? Or are we all collectively bleeped by Airtels horrible inconsistent network? |

Tover: My second day in Osogbo using the Airtel ODU. I switched to 5G, but the network was weak. I got about 40 Mbps at first, but after a few minutes it dropped, so I had to switch back to 4G, which is stable and fast. Six devices were connected—four of them were streaming a Manchester City match—and there was 100% no buffering. I also got the highest upload speed I’ve ever recorded. If you’re in Osogbo, I don’t think using the Airtel ODU will be a problem How did you switch to 4G only? |

Betnomore: Airtel no go kill person. If you know sabi how to handle dem, frustration go kill person. Just imagine since yesterday I’ve been getting like 100kbps all day and it gets back to 50mbps at night. Happening this morning also. I just decided to connect to a vpn…..VOILA…. Network speed is back to 50mbps only while connected to VPN. Not all my devices at home have VPN. Now my kids can’t watch TV like this. E no go better for Airtel What VPN do you use? |

Hullabaloon: Airtel had a few mins downtime this evening. Then returned with a bang! Highest speed I've ever seen by this time of the day Kindly disregard the above. Airtel is currently showing me shege. So bad I can't even stream the England match In 480p. Useless network |

Phones › Re: Airtel Unlimited Data Thread! Best Data Plan In 2024!! by Hullabaloon: 9:29pm On Mar 22 |
I just discovered this night that using Ethernet cable ( router to PC ) instead of WiFi connection improves streaming speed significantly.
I'm watching The Madrid derby in full HD and it has minimal buffering. Never thought it's possible.
Mind you my speed is 13mbps this night. |
Phones › Re: Airtel Unlimited Data Thread! Best Data Plan In 2024!! by Hullabaloon: 3:01pm On Mar 21 |
NSEstudent: Since the last time Airtel happened to me, I have been having largely improved experience. Today for instance, and right now as I type, I'm streaming football matches on FHD with no buffering.
Let me see if they will see this praise and do their dark arts Same here. Speed is around 40mbps. Streaming premiere league in HD. But once it's evening around 7pm this thing will reduce to under 15mbps |

Peterlove11: I have used the 3.....in terms of raw speed, the ZTE edges the rest(it's performance noticeably improves and become apparent after a restart). In terms of online responsiveness and ping, the Huawei is the best. If you play online games alot, go for the Huawei. It has the best ping. You must also understand that the gaming latency and ping is dependent on alot of factors e.g network quality, closeness to server etc. So I won't put my entire decision based on latency alone. Infact interms of gaming I prefer MTN. The network serves me better in my location That ZTE restart speed boost is so true. Is there any way to sustain that? |

House, is it possible for ODU to have 5G but normal sim doesn't?
Cos I'm seeing 5G on my router. Got excited, rushed my normal Airtel line, put it in my phone, set phone to 5g yet nothing showed up.
Abi the one on the router no real?
