PoliticsKashamu Withdrew Case Against Adebutu’s Firm Before Death –lawyer by Hunter2009(op): 8:10am On Aug 21, 2020
Counsel for the late Senator Buruji Kashamu, Mr Ajibola Oluyede, said his client, before his death, withdrew the lawsuit filed against rival lotto operators in the country, including Sir Keshington Adebutu’s Premier Lotto, popularly known as Baba Ijebu.

Oluyede told The PUNCH on the telephone on Thursday that Kashamu, through his firm, Western Lotto Limited, took the decision prior to his death on August 8.

The lawyer was contacted against the backdrop of a viral video suggesting that the late Kashamu, while on his sickbed, placed a phone call to Adebutu to seek his forgiveness and pledged to drop legal actions against Premier Lotto.

In the video, Adebutu had demanded that Kashamu withdraw the court case against him in demonstration of his penitence.

The two businessmen from Ogun State were embroiled in a legal tussle in relation to the proprietary right over ‘Ghana games’.

In a suit filed before the Federal High Court in Lagos, Kashamu’s Western Lotto accused Adebutu’s Premier Lotto and 22 other rival lotto firms of infringing on its trademark.

The court last year December granted Western Lotto an anton piller order to enter into and search the offices of the rival lotto firms for evidence of the alleged infringement on its licence on ‘Ghana games’.

Justice C.J. Aneke also dismissed the defendants’ preliminary objection, challenging the court’s jurisdiction and seeking to set aside the antom piller order.

The defendants went on appeal.

Oluyede told our correspondent on Thursday that the matter was withdrawn before Kashamu died.

He said, “There is only one action that involves Adebutu’s company; it involves all the operators as well as the lottery regulatory commission. That action was at the Federal High Court; and before Senator Kashamu departed we had discontinued the action against all the operators, including Sir Keshington’s Premier Lotto. So, there is actually, as of today, no real pending action against them.”

On the appeal filed by the defendants, Oluyede said, “The discontinuance of the case brings an end to everything. That one is now left for the Court of Appeal to decide whether they still want to continue with the appeal or the appeal is now an academic exercise. Our own position is that the appeal is now an academic exercise.”

In the video, Adebutu was seen receiving a call from Kashamu, with his mobile phone on speaker while he was being video-recorded.

In the conversation, which was majorly in Yoruba language, Kashamu profusely begged Adebutu to forgive him, saying he was ready to do as Adebutu pleased, including supporting his son, Ladi, to become the Ogun State Governor.

Meanwhile, an associate of Adebutu, Aare Kola Oyefeso, said the video was released to the public in good faith.

Oyefeso, a close ally of the billionaire businessman, confirmed that the video emanated from the Adebutu family to show the world that the duo had reconciled.

He said, “I am confirming to you on my word of honour before God and man that the video is authentic.

“It was Kashamu speaking to Sir Adebutu, not Baba speaking to Kashamu.

“On his sickbed, he realised his shortcoming and he tried to makeup and he indeed made up.”

PoliticsThe Beast Called 'baba Ijebu' By Ibrahim Odunuga by Hunter2009(op): 7:49am On Aug 21, 2020
The Beast called 'Baba Ijebu' by Ibrahim Odunuga

'We view with rude shock, the viral video of the private conversation between Prince Buruji Kashamu and Chief Kessington Adebutu (a.k.a Baba Ijebu), which was obviously released on the social media by Chief Adebutu.
To say the least, the act of releasing the video was not only cheeky but also petty and clearly exposed Chief Adebutu as inhuman, self-centred, desperate and ungodly. There is a Yoruba saying that “it is saddening if you meet an elder where you are supposed to meet a child, and very shameful if you meet stupidity where you are supposed to meet sense”.
It is really encouraging that such condemnable behavior by a supposed Odole of Ile Ife instantly drew serious condemnation by Nigerians on all social media platforms, notwithstanding, we would want to ask Adebutu if the video was a confirmation of another Yoruba’s proverb that “the wizard cried yesterday and the child died today, who does not know that it’s the wizard’s cry of yesterday that killed the child”?
Prince Buruji Kashamu took ill from Abuja where he went to sign terms of settlement with National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC). That was the sickness that took him in, after he had tested negative twice to Covid-19. From his sick bed, he made a phone call to the person he probably suspected to be behind his ordeal. It was a voice call. But while answering the voice call, the old man got someone else to video-record the conversation without the knowledge of his caller. Prince Kashamu was begging the old Adebutu and promising to do everything to placate him, including handing over and signing his (Kashamu’s) lottery business to Adebutu.
Adebutu, knew Kashamu was calling from hospital bed, yet he showed no pity. He made a passive “God will forgive all of us” comment but was still asking about Kashamu’s sincerity and thereafter ordered him to go and withdraw all the court cases against him and his lottery company, cases that he, Adebutu, despite his influence peddling and humongous ill-gotten wealth could not legally dismantled.
The release of the video, to us, is as actually a diving intervention to expose the evil and devilish deeds of this family and to warn people who come into contact with them, more so as they plan to annex Ogun State to their collapsing business empire.
Kashamu begged for forgiveness from his sick bed, vowed to support the governorship ambition of the spoilt-child of the family, but all to no avail as we could see in the conversation and body language of the Old Adebutu in the video. What a life! At what age?!
It is also revealing that Prince Kashamu maintained repeatedly in the conversation that he did not do anything against Adebutu and mentioned one Segun (Adebutu’s son) as a witness to several efforts he made to work with and carry Adebutu along.
It was too late “Baba Ijebu” has made up his mind as we could see him playing God in the video. We really thank God for exposing “Baba Ijebu” and his action and disposition bordering on inhuman and beastly feeling tallies with that of his friend and in-law OBJ who also made a disrespectful and despicable comment in the name of condolence letter. We now know the nexus.
We are by this repeating our warning to Ogun State people to stay clear and far away from the Adebutu family in their own interest.
Senator Prince Buruji Kashamu has played his part and left. Yes, the mass of people at his burial attest to his work, no matter what anyone may want to say. The hecklers and those gloating should even pray they have such gathering of people at their death. That’s even if they think they will ever die.
The body of Kashamu could be killed but his soul lives on'.

Pastors should emulate Prophet TB Joshua's kind Gestures....Biletiri Tunde Testified

After my encounter with God, my eyes became open. Soon alot of us will know what it takes to serve God. I want to appreciate @tbjoshua for what he has done for alot of people and especially his impact on some correctional centres all over the country.

This selfless man of God donated a minimum of 2 television per cells and Decoder in some correctional facilities. He made sure inmates while in Detention can still connect to the outside world by watching various Channels of their choice. He never publicised it unlike some pastors who will pay the media to showcase money they are sharing to people for publicity sake.

I got to know about it during my visits to some facilities. While some churches are busy coming to run baptism classes and other programs, the truth most inmates attend churches While in detention because it's their only means of receiving fresh air. Once again i want to thank @tbjoshua for his philanthropic gestures and may God replenish his pockets.

Ex-DIG Daughter, Olori Foster Battles Popular Havilah over Alaafin

Olori Foster, granddaughter of Nigeria's flamboyant first class monarch, Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi 111 is largely a beautiful soul. She is often known for her acts of kindness and activism. The US-based ex-supercop daughter is also doing well in her career as a public speaker, coach and a marketing professional. Her high-powered job buys her all the trappings of success. But that's not all. Olori Foster is a tough nut to crack, too. She is never shy or afraid to take on anyone who is trying to mess with her family or anything dear to her heart. She is an activist with a long history of battles fought and won. Olori Foster can be best described as a mix of loveliness and controversy.

Few days ago, the controversial royal daughter joined the fray and descended on a fellow controversial figure, one Havilah who was trying to drag through the mud her grandfather, Alaafin over his many young women. In a facebook post few days ago, Havilah took a jab at the respected monarch over his well-known love for young women. The octogenarian king is currently married to beautiful young ladies and Havilah wondering what could be attraction for the old man voiced out her dissatisfaction in a facebook post stylishly degrading the monarch over his choice of body cream.
Olori Foster known for her takes no prisoners attitude returned the salvo in equal measure schooling the author of the post on the pedigree and achievements of the revered monarch. Olori Foster did not only rubbish the post as an unverified and ignorant statement but also highlight the fact that the first monarch has a huge concentration of PhD and Masters degree holders among his children, noting that the Alaafin himself is well read.
With her detailed defense and tutorials, not only did she help to correct the false impression about her royal family. She equally showed what family bond should look like - a textbook example of family loyalty.

Recently, the beautiful Alaafin granddaughter has been involved in a lot of Covid-19 acts of kindness. For instance, during the just concluded Sallah festivities, Olori Foster showed love to about 45 to 50 single mothers with a cash donation of 10k per person to ease their burden during these hard times. She has repeatedly shown genuine concern for single mothers and upliftment of the women folk. It has also been a winning season of sorts for the controversial royal daughter, her brother officially started his talk show and Olori Foster's sister who is based in the United States also welcomed a baby.

PoliticsCalm Down, Infrastructure In Lagos Is A Mess by Hunter2009(op): 1:43pm On Aug 14, 2020
Calm Down, Infrastructure in Lagos is a Mess

Lagos today has become somewhat hellish with too many infrastructure and security problems to contend with while those in governance play politics with practically everything.

Lagosians waited with bated breath and high hopes for a new lease of life, that the new dispensation led by Governor Babajide Sanwo- Olu, will herald transformation.

This is even more so when one considers the rhetoric that visited his campaign. That hope for many seems to have been extinguished as quickly as it was birthed.

In the past one year, the state has been plagued by a plethora of challenges ranging from insecurity, dilapidated roads across the length and breadth of the state, plus an archaic mode of transportation on the unmanned waterways where boat mishaps are recorded on a near-daily basis.

Even the viral video of a little boy seen pleading with his mum to calm down while he was being reprimanded for wrong doing became a political tool for relevance. With it, the governor thought it wise to jump on the trend by telling Lagosians to calm down, amid a Lagos with failed infrastructure and the attendant cost on residents.

A public analyst, Dipo Oni, could not contain his frustration with the poor Lagos Infrastructure during a chat with MoneyCentral as he noted that Life has become unbearable in the nation’s commercial capital.

“You move around the city and you are confronted by hoodlums in traffic. The area boy syndrome, coupled with the thuggery seen in parks and bus stops is now the uncomfortable norm to the extent that one wonders if the Governor is oblivious to the monsters on the road,” Oni said.

“Ikoyi and Victoria Island appear to be the only locations sheltered from this storm of hooliganism. But for how long more?”

He noted that commuters in Oshodi, Mile 2, Alakija, Okoko, Abule Egba, Iyana Ipaja, Orile, Coker, Surulere, Ajao, Ikeja, Festac, Ajegunle, and Oworonshoki on the outskirts of Lagos are smarting from the hardship inflicted by the gridlock resulting from the closure of 3rd Mainland due to ongoing repair work.

“There are reports of night time robberies executed by armed boys amid traffic gridlock and sometimes in broad light. They shatter windscreens, maim Drivers, commuters and passers-by and dispossess them of their valuables. The nightmare is best imagined”.

“The roads? Another kettle of fish! There’s an endless line of craters and articulated vehicles dominating a valuable portion of the highway on much of Apapa/Oshodi and Lagos/Badagry expressway. Another tale of sorrow for commuters who must ply that axis daily. Every now and then the Trailers and Truck which are not regulated despite existing laws guiding them, fall at will on numerous occasions causing untimely deaths with no consequence to the offenders.”

Oni, explained that, the vehicles are usually in deplorable conditions and are hardly registered or checked by the relevant agencies.

“What you see is that the authorities who should enforce the laws of road worthiness and traffic control like FRSC, VIO, LASTMA and the police allow them run dangerously on the roads as they prefer to harass passenger cars. Lagos State Government has also refused to deal with this problem decisively despite uncountable tragic incidences that has claimed many lives to date.”

He added that there was a recent visit by the governor’s representative to the mother of a promising young girl who lost her life to these daredevil trailers due to an unlatched container that claimed her live and that of her colleague while returning from work.

“A lot of promises were made during the visit to the grieving mother. Our collective wish is that all that was said and more should be done to resolve this major challenge so the gridlock and deaths caused by these death merchants be curtailed once and for all.”

Oni continued: “I tell you the sight of Lagos roads these days is an eyesore. The gridlock experienced is what makes Lagosians vulnerable to attacks. You then wonder what he was voted for. To assume the esteemed position, then come and play deaf and dumb to several SOS for a solution to the deplorable state of the so called smart city, with the battle against COVID 19 as a front for ineptitude. No, it is irresponsible to perpetually take people for a ride.”

According to Oni, the previous governor, Akinwunmi Ambode was no better as he also left the roads in a state of disrepair, while constantly blaming the rain and ignoring calls to fix Lagos.

The bad performance of these Governors has compelled a longing for the days of Babatunde Fashola, thereby making a myth out of the former Governor.

These where the days when roads were rehabilitated, new roads were constructed and ongoing projects were monitored zealously.

It might be too early to tell. Perhaps the Governor and his team could wake up from their slumber before the expiration of their remaining tenure in office.

Still this remains a tall order because the tell-tale signs of negligence of Lagos Infrastructure are there unless we see a drastic change, according to Oni.

A resident of Lagos, Segun Akanbi, lamented that, “the current Governor came in with a lot of promise, performed fairly but has now diverted focus to the fight against COVID 19 at the detriment of other aspects, especially roads.”

Investigations by MoneyCentral reporters that took a week to crisscross the megacity shows that there is almost no area in the state that is spared huge portions of bad roads, but the worst-hit locations are: Mile 2, Abule Ado, Alakija, Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway down to Ikeja Along, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Oworosoki- Oshodi Expressway, Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, Ikorodu Road, Lagos-Badagry Expressway, Funsho-Wiliams Avenue, by Costain area, which has been closed to traffic for construction work on the Costain bridge.

Others are: Kirikiri Road, Apapa, which has worsened traffic gridlock caused by truck operators who as noted earlier, have made the expressway, their parking lot. Other areas suffering similar fate are Satellite Town Road, Oriade LCDA, Otto-Wharf Boundary Road, Ajegunle, In Ajeromi- Ifelodun LGA. Chivita-Canoe Road, Oshodi-Isolo LGA, Isheri-Osun, LCDA, Ishawo, Road, Idimu Pipeline, Ikorodu, among others.

These days, it is also a dreadful experience for commuters and motorists who ply Lagos-Badagry Expressway due to several failed portions on both sides of the highway. A few weeks back this was worsened by persistent rainfall and resulting in the loss of valuable man-hours and revenue on an international route.

With the closure of the 3rd Mainland Bridge and inaccessibility of alternative roads left undone even after what amounted to a political speak by the governor, the pain has since doubled.

Analysts say the current neglect of Lagos Infrastructure is a bitter pill administered on all to curb the spread of COVID 19.

They say Government’s non-responsiveness is a demonstration of lack of vision and rather than ensure the continuance of road rehabilitation and construction during the lockdown, the State Government preferred to ignore such calls from technocrats and Nigerians.

It will be recalled that sometime in May, the governor encouraged the use of waterways. Yet the initiative has so far proved more of a publicity stunt than a serious attempt to solve the city’s chronic transportation problem aggravated by exponential population growth and flooding.

A recent study indicates that at least three of every ten years spent in Lagos is lost to traffic. It means Lagosians spend an average of seven hours 20 minutes in traffic every day.

An economic analyst, Kolapo Oluwo averred that the long hours spent daily in traffic with its attendant economic as well as health, emotional and relational costs are colossal.

“For a potential megacity and the economic hub of the country it shows ineptitude and lack lustre leadership, despite media campaigns and allusions to the contrary.”

He noted that: “Lagos is the commercial, economic, as well as financial capital of Nigeria accounting for over 50 percent of the industrial and commercial establishments, as well as 70 percent of manufacturing activities. In addition, it has the most active stock exchange in West Africa; its ports collectively handle about 75 and 90 percent of the country’s imports and non-oil exports by weight respectively. Even more, its international airport handles about 80 percent of airborne exports and imports and 80 percent of passenger movements in and out of the country.”

Oluwo Further said, “the state’s population has continued to grow rapidly – put at between six to eight percent per annum – and is a dragnet for school leavers and other economic migrants from other parts of the country. It is projected that the population of the city will grow to 36 million by 2050.”

An Economist, Emeka Ohanyere buttressed this saying despite its huge population and importance, road travel is the city’s most common and available means of transport. Rail and water transportation are meanwhile relatively under-developed in Lagos.

A $1.4 billion light rail system meant to help solve the traffic nightmare remains uncompleted 12 years after construction began.

CCECC is constructing the 27k Blue line in two phases.

The first phase includes the National Theatre to Mile 2 section and the second involves the Mile 2 to Okokomaiko section.

Construction of the Blue line was initially expected to be completed by 2011 but has been delayed indefinitely due to funding issues.

“Years of political wrangling, massive corruption underinvestment and poor maintenance of existing transport infrastructure has seen Lagos lag behind other major global cities in the utilisation of efficient public transportation system such as urban rail system and modern high capacity buses. If the state is continually run in this manner, it might never attain the lofty new Lagos it craves,” Ohanyere said.

Christianity EtcTb Joshua Begins Prayer For Covid-19 Patients In Isolation Centres by Hunter2009(op): 11:15pm On Aug 02, 2020
TB JOSHUA BEGINS PRAYER FOR COVID-19 PATIENTS IN ISOLATION CENTRES

Nigerian Pastor TB Joshua has offered ‘virtual prayer’ for healing for those afflicted with COVID-19 in an Isolation Centre in Honduras, Central America.

A video posted to Emmanuel TV’s YouTube Channel showed the prominent cleric praying for bedridden patients hooked up to oxygen tanks and surrounded by hospital staff heavily laden with protective gear.

“Where can we go from God’s presence? Distance is not a barrier because He is Spirit,”Joshua declared in front of several huge screens relaying in real-time the footage from the several wards within the Honduran Isolation Centre.

“By the power of the Holy Spirit – that affliction, that COVID-19 – be flushed out,” he prayed stretching forth his hands towards the dozens of patients on the multiple screens at the Emmanuel TV Studios in Lagos, Nigeria, in a program tagged ‘Interactive Prayer Session’.

During the prayer – which was translated simultaneously into Spanish – several patients began to involuntarily ‘vomit’ whilst others rose to their feet from their hospital beds, waved their hands joyously and removed the oxygen apparatus fixed to their nose as a sign of “supernatural healing”.

“Jesus that has freed you will help you to maintain your miracle. Make the Word of God the standard for your life,” Joshua counselled after declaring dozens of COVID-19 patients “free”.

“I sensed the healing and delivering power of God,” explained Aracely, one of the Honduran patients, after the prayer. “I felt my lungs fill up with air… I’m no longer using the oxygen mask,” she testified.

“I couldn’t go to the toilet before but immediately after the prayer, I felt like rushing to the toilet,” another patient immediately acknowledged. “I passed out a lot of foul substance – that was the power of the prayer.”

“I saw a white light that illuminated me and asked me to remove my oxygen mask,” another lady stated. “I’m not choking any longer,” she excitedly stated, with others testifying their sense of smell and taste was restored and their strength revitalized following the prayer.

Afterwards, representatives of the medical staff at the hospital thanked Joshua for his prayers and support.

The video concluded by stressing that it was not intended to “discourage anyone from seeking medical treatment” as “good Christians are good citizens”.

“If you don’t believe in God with medicine, you cannot believe in God without medicine,”Joshua said.

Last month, the World Health Organisation reacted to a video in which a Cameroonian medical doctor was ‘healed’ of COVID-19 after receiving “interactive prayer” from Joshua’s ministry, acknowledging “spiritual leadership is very important in a time like this”.

Since starting its ‘Interactive Prayer Sessions’ – in which online prayer is offered via video calls – Joshua’s ministry has prayed for COVID-19 patients from around the world, prompting the cleric to recently declare his readiness to freely pray for those in Isolation Centers.

Joshua, who had been absent for seven weeks from Emmanuel TV’s broadcasts, earlier shared a sermon titled ‘Mistakes Are Correctable’.

“We wake up in the morning determined to get it right. Before we know it, we have missed the mark,” Joshua began, stressing that “making a mistake” was not the issue but “how we handle it matters.”

“For instance, the issue of COVID-19 is a mistake. However, how we are handling it has led us to where we are today,” he continued, citing the uncertainties and “twists and turns of life”.

“If you make a mistake, as we all do sometimes, don’t run from God; run to Him,” Joshua taught, adding that mistakes actually “make Christian life more interesting and more valuable” and serve as a means to “draw us closer to God”.

“We made the call - and all of us have made the bad call in some areas of our lives,” he acknowledged, parabolically describing that everyone has “feet of clay to some extent”.

Joshua concluded by calling on viewers to have a ‘genuine’ connection with God. “When we connect with Jesus genuinely by way of a personal relationship, He will walk you through everything you do,” he stressed, before proceeding to pray for viewers.

Joshua’s videos have been viewed over one billion times in various languages on YouTube, with his official English Channel reaching 1.7 million subscribers.

Eid-el-Kabir: NGIJ Greets Muslims, Calls for Adherence to Health Protocols

The Nigerian Guild of Investigative Journalists (NGIJ) has felicitated with President Muhammadu Buhari and other Muslims in Nigeria on occasion of this year Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

The foremost Investigative Journalists Guild in Africa in a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, Femi Oyewale, noted that this year's Eid-el-Kabir celebration is unique as a result of ravaging COVID-19 pandemic worldwide.

NGIJ however urges Muslims to adhere strictly to precautionary measures by Nigeria Centre for Diseases Control (NCDC) and Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19 protocols during the Sallah celebration, restating that the novel coronavirus is real.

The Guild called on religious leaders to intensify awareness campaign about COVID-19 and avoid misleading their followers with their messages amidst the pandemic.

''The novel coronavirus is real and this year's Eid-el-Kabir celebration is unique as Muslims would be observing the prayers in strict compliance with the NCDC and PTF on COVID-19 protocols. Some states have banned large gathering for Eid prayers and others permit Muslims to hold their mass prayers. In all, the federal government and States have displayed serious commitments in curtailing the spread of the virus.

'The citizen should therefore take responsibility by complying with all lawful directives to prevent spread of COVID-19. They need to adjust to the new normal in their own interest for public health and safety. Nigeria will come back stronger and better, it's becoming evident with ongoing massive improvements in health sector due to outbreak of COVID-19.

''As Muslims celebrate 2020 Sallah, they must remember the country, its leaders and people in isolation centres nationwide for quick recovery. There is also need to intensify prayers and seek Cod's intervention amidst the pandemic that is ravaging the world economy''

The attention of the Street to Street Campaign,a Vintage Campaign Platform, has been drawn to stream of gibberish attributable to one Emmanuel Igiebor, who by the tune is Agent of Edo State Government, wherein he made unfounded comments against the most exalted First Class Stool of the Oba of Benin and the very respected and benevolent Edo Born Billionaire-Captain Hosa Wells Okunbo, the CEO of Wells Holding.

We debunk in all it's entirety the false claims made about our respected and adulated Royal Father Omo N'Oba N'Edo Uku Akpolokpolo ,Oba Ewuare ,11,the Great ,who has been a father to all irrespective of the Politics Affiliation .

We wish to State on record that the Writer of the above indicated poor hatchet man's job ,ommited to State that a sacrilege was committed in front of the Oba's Palace ,when thugs loyal to Governor Godwin shot guns in front of the Oba's Palace ,which such despicable brigandage was last seen in front of Oba's Palace in 1897,during the the invasion of Benin the British.

The attempt to drag Captain Hosa Wells Okunbo to the shenanigans perpetrated by the Goons of Governor Godwin Obaseki is completely unacceptable.Captain Hosa is a peace loving man who does not engage or encourage violence.

On the Contrary, Captain Hosa Wells Okunbo,is only concerned about the betterment of Edo State and investments that will spur development, some of which have been stunted by Governor Godwin Obaseki on the alter of Petty Politics .

‘SAVE MY LIFE’ FROM OLAWALE ABIDEEN: THE NEWLY ELECTED NATIONAL SECRETARY, NGIJ, ABDULRAHMAN ALIAGAN CRIES OUT TO IGP, DG, DSS

The newly elected National Secretary from the just concluded election of the new leadership of the Nigerian Guild of Investigative Journalists, NGIJ, Abdulrahman Aliagan has called on the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Mr. Mohammed Adamu and the Director General of the Directorate of State Security, Alhaji Yusuf Magaji Bichi to save his life from one Mr. Olawale Abydeen, Publisher, Security Monitor an online platform and the immediate past Acting President of the Guild.

Mr, Abydeen was the former Acting President of the steering committee of the Guild until his led acting executive was dissolved at the Guild’s Congress conducted via online in June, 2020 owing to the prevalence of COVID-19 and in compliance with lay down protocol by NCDC and PTF on COVID-19.

It becomes necessary for the association to dissociate itself from nefarious activities of Mr. Wale who was using the Guild as his personal property as well as a tool to witch-hunt corporate organizations, particularly, banks for his personal gains.

Wale, a Lagos based journalist, has since been in Abuja acting under the guise of his wife, who is a Police officer in Lagos, making contacts with some Police Officers-SARS, closed to Sharon Ultimate Hotel in Garki Area of Abuja.

Abdulrahman said he got the hint of Mr. Wale’s arrival in Abuja from Lagos through a Lawyer friend that incorporated the Guild. According to the Lawyer, “Wale called me to inform me that he is in Abuja, that he wanted to settle an issue with Abdulrahman and he wanted me to come with him.

“He told me that, he was in a Garden and since I was closed to the garden, I rushed to see him there. Unknown to me, he was in a company of some Policemen about four of them.

“They started interrogating me that, why did I gave the Guild’s Certificate to the Secretary of the Guild and not the President who sent you the money? I told them, that it was Abdulrahman that I know, his name is there as one of the Trustees and all the documents that were used to incorporate the Guild, including your own (Wale) and the remaining members of Trustees, I got them from Abdulrahman. And for close to two years, you did not call me to ask anything about the Certificate why now?” The Lawyer quarried.

The Lawyer added that, “I am aware that you have embarked on some programme together with the same Abdulrahman some of it involves traveling, you as well called me sometimes last year that the Guild wanted to engage me as their Lawyer and that was the last time we spoke and it was over a year, then why are you bringing me to any misunderstanding between you and Abdulrahman now? Why can’t they invite him officially for interrogation? He quarried.

According to Abdulrahman, “the allegedly called SARS have been tracking my conversations and that has made me to switched-off my phone going to four days now.”

He added that, Wale has earlier called members of his family, friends and colleagues that, I sought for his exit as the President of the Guild and promised to deal with decisively.

It becomes more necessary for me to call on the Inspector General of Police, the DG DSS and other security agencies to SAVE MY LIFE and that of MY FAMILY from OLAWALE ABIDEEN popularly called RAYNERS. When a friend of mIne sent me a text message when he could not reach me that one YUSUF OLAYINKA ERUBU alias Bobulux called him to ask for my house number, my street and where I lived in Abuja.

Olayinka who has been known to be Wale’s friend for decades, has also called on one of the NGIJ’s member to harras and called him a betrayer. Aliagan said.

Aliagan stated that all efforts to reach Wale for over three weeks for possible resolutions through friends, colleagues, several calls, texts and WhatsApp messages have been proving abortive.

I therefore called on all authority to save my life and that of my family, from a desperate journalist.

Mojoyinola Emerges President As NGIJ Elects New Executives

Says NGIJ Election Is A Loud Statement That The Guild Has Come To Stay

The Nigerian Guild of Investigative Journalists (NGIJ) has elected new executive members to pilot the affairs of the association for another two years, as Mr. Ayoyemi Mojoyinola, a Co-Publisher, Thecitypulsenews.com emerges President of the Guild.

The new President elect won the election with other executive members including Bashorun Israel Bolaji as Vice President Information & Strategy, Comrade James Ezema AS VP Investigations, and AbdulRahman Aliagan as the National Secretary with over 2/3 of total registered voters.

Others are Oyewale Oyelola; Registrar, Rowland 'Shuwa; Financial Secretary and Femi Oyewale emerged as Public Relations/Welfare Officer. The election, which was organized sequel to the Investigators Guild Congress, was conducted via e-voting in compliance with NCDC and Presidential Taskforce in COVID-19 protocols and guidelines.

The Election Committee Chairman, Tope Sunday while declaring the result said Ayoyemi Mojoyin led executive members will conduct bye-election to fill remaining vacant positions. Speaking after he was declared the winner, Mojoyinola noted that, “Today is indeed a historic day for all of us because, first and foremost, this is the very first election to be held by this noble association. This means that the new crop of leaders elected today are the very first democratically elected leaders for the Guild.

“Secondly, this election is a loud statement that this association has come to stay and with your support we shall build a very strong foundation for this nascent association.” Mojoyinola pointed out that, “We were to hold this election on Saturday but for developments beyond our control we had to move it a little bit forward. “For an association that has never conducted an election before now, I must say that Mr. Sunday and his team did a very great job and there might not be need for elections tribunals. “In all seriousness, I sincerely thank every member of this association for their commitments to the Guild.

I commend all of us for expending our resources, financial, intellectual, morally and otherwise to the success of this Guild. He however thanked the Co-founders of the Guild for giving the Investigators in the country the platform to express themselves.

“In the same vein I will like to show appreciation to the Co-founders of this association, Mr. Abdulrahman Aliagan, Bashorun Israel Bolaji and Mr. Olawale AbIdeen, for giving Investigators in the country this platform to express themselves. “While I will not like to dwell on the present misgivings of Abideen, suffice it to say that the Guild is not anybody’s personal property and should never be treated as such. I assure you that I shall, together with my new executives, treat this issue with the utmost importance it deserves so that we can forge ahead promptly. “I therefore use this opportunity to call on my friend, Olawale Abideen who is also the immediate past acting president of the Guild, to tow the path of peace and unity and join hands with this administration so that the dream of a virile and great platform for investigative journalists will be reinforced quickly.

According to Mojoyinola, “We are heartened by the progress we have made so far despite the seeming challenges and I am eager to help continue that progress but I want to assure us all that there will be more greater challenges ahead as our aim is towards a bigger goal but to succeed we must come together united. Remember, “We are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided.”

“As the first democratically elected president of this Guild, I assure you that we, my team and I will do everything within our powers to work for your welfare and wellbeing. We assure you that the interest of all members shall be protected as long as such member does not work against the interest of the Guild. “I also want to use this opportunity to allay fears in some quarters that this Guild is out to witch-hunt anybody.

"We are not out to witch-hunt any group, organization or individual rather we are guided by our motto, ‘rooting for the truth’ and that will be our guiding principle in all interactions. “While I understand the need for me to roll out programs and make promises to our members, permit me at this present time to make only two promises which I know we can keep. The first is that, starting from now your views and contributions will matter in NGIJ. This is because I will ask a lot of questions, some of them, undoubtedly, will be annoying. But I promise that I will carefully listen to your answers for the good of the Guild. “The second thing I can promise is that I will make mistakes. But I promise that my mistakes will not be from lethargy so if you agree with the Holy Books that Man is imperfection personified then you will pardon me for the honest mistakes that I might make in the cause of leading this association.”

Ayoyemi Mojoyinola, a graduate of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye Ogun State, has over 14 years working experience in various print, broadcast and Online media organisations both in Nigeria and international.

He is currently a Co-Publisher at Thecitypulsenews.com with head office in USA and Nigeria office in Lagos.

RE:Governor Godwin Obaseki's Letter to Captain Hosa Okunbo.

You are a self contradictory Person .

Your Letter confirms all the assertions of Captain Hosa Okunbo.

Street to Street Campaign led by Daniel Eromonsele AKA Pikolo Tells Governor Godwin Obaseki.

Our attention has been drawn to a Letter personally ascribed to the Out going Governor of Edo State , Governor Godwin Obaseki as a response to lucid rendition of the travails Captain Hosa Okunbo has suffered in this hands of the out going Governor.

The toxic diction of the Letter confirms the fact that the out going Governor Godwin Obaseki actually has an axe to grind with the most respected Edo State Born Billionaire-Captain Hosa Wells Okunbo, who in his letter elucidated his travails in the hands of Governor Obaseki, who says he would create 200 Thousands Jobs ,but is muzzling the businesses of Edo Lites ,thereby crumbling Thousands of Job.

Governor Obaseki is a comic fellow .
In one breath he says he has no propensity for evil ,while in the real sense, he is evil personified .A self contradictory character.

To show case Obaseki's Evil to his fellow Edos , follow the trail of his evil trajectory as follows:

1.Jailed Osakpamwan Eriyo on a trumped up Charge .

2.Jailed Marxist Kola Edokpayi on a trumped up Charge .

3. Destroyed Tony Kabaka hotel for his refusal to support his second term bid

4. Frustrated Maleke from upgrading the entertainment industry

5.Frustrated Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen's efforts to develop a Bini Film Village ,

5.Demolished Bob Izua's Shopping Mall that led to the loss of about 1000 Jobs and that eventually led to the Death of Bob Izua's Wife- Mrs. Ehinwenma Adun (May her soul rest in perfect peace ).

6.Closed Down Osakpamwan Eriyo's Hotels and Event Centres that led to the loss of about 250 Jobs .

7.Inaugurated Edo State House Assembly with 10 Members at about 9:30pm at night .Edo State is the only State In Nigeria with out a functional House of Assembly.

8.Refused to give the Judiciary Financial Autonomy, despite the Constitutional Provisions to that effect .

9.,Caused his thugs and Operation Wabazigan to invade Golden Tulip Hotel to beat up 14 House of Assembly Members-Elect .

10.Held the only Edo State Town Hall Meeting in 4 Years ,in Lagos .

11.Gives opportunities to Lagosians and Deltans to detriment of Edolites with Edo State Tax Payers' Money .

12.Clamped Down on Poor Edo Citizens during the Convid-19 Period ,making the poor to pay fines while he and his new Party violated the Covid-19 Regulations when he decamped with a crowd, who did not wear face masks .

13.Filed a Case against Edo State Citizen -,Right Hon Pius Odubu Chairmanship of NDDC,the very first time an Edo man was to be NDDC Chairman.

14.Used His Covid-19 Taskforce to stop the NBA Benin 2020 Elections ,while he decamped days before with a similar crowd .

15.Imprisoned some Youths from Okpella who questioned his obnoxious actions.

16.,Imprisoned some protesting Youth in the Edo Central Senatorial Zone .

17.demolished some houses and Hotels around the Benin Technical Area .

18.PUWOG ,an Official Thuggery Group unleashes Terror on Poor Market Women Daily .

19.Forcefully took over the National Butchers Union of Nigeria,an Independent Union and put his Nephews in charge.

20.Have arraigned more Edo State Citizens in Court and sent more Edo Citizens to prison than all other Democratic Governor's combined since 1999.

21.Has filed about 29 Cases Nation Wide some times through proxies against the interests of Edo Citizens with Edo State Money .

The above goes to show there have never been any Governor since the history of Nigeria that is as wicked, callous, cruel, vindictive ,adverse to the progress of his fellow man like Godwin Obaseki .
He did all that Captain indicated and even more .If we gave Edolites the full doze of Obaseki's Heartlessness towards Captain Hosa ,Edo State Citizens will be nonplussed!

Obaseki wants to be the lone Star in the Sky .He never likes any one around the Political spectrum to progress, except you are his man Friday or hatchet man.

Captain Hosa Wells Okunbo is the Pride of Edo State .We should actually support him and promote him.He is to us ,what Bill Gates is to the World .

He is a very benevolent and he is a good man and no matter how Obaseki tries to villify him ,the difference between Captain Hosa Okunbo and Obaseki is the difference between light and darkness .

A candle loses nothing in lighting up another candle.Captain Hosa Wells Okunbo has shown this multiple times. This is timeless and time honoured . Captain Hosa's name is written in gold in the Hall of Fame ,while his traducers on this issue are confined to the Hall shame and infamy .

“I WAS WARNED TO NEVER WATCH TB JOSHUA BUT GOD USED HIM TO HEAL ME!” – MEDICAL DOCTOR

A Nigerian medical doctor based in Romania has shared a testimony about how she stopped bedwetting after praying with TB Joshua – a man she was warned by her church to never associate with

In a video posted to Emmanuel TV’s YouTube Channel, the popular Christian channel with 1.7 million subscribers, Dr Ataikiru Usiwoma revealed she suffered with an embarrassing case of bedwetting since birth.

“It would surely happen every time I slept – daily or twice in a day,” Usiwoma explained, adding the problem persisted during her time in medical school in Ukraine and led her to being withdrawn and introverted.

According to Dr Ataikiru, a Ghanaian doctor advised her to watch Emmanuel TV but she was initially reluctant as she had been told TB Joshua was demonic from a young age and warned to never watch Emmanuel TV in her church in Nigeria.

“They said that if you even turned on the channel, the spirit could possess you,” she recounted.

However, when another Nigerian Pastor showed her a video equally saying negative things about Joshua, she felt a conviction to do investigations herself rather than relying on hearsay.

When she began watching Emmanuel TV, Usiwoma was ‘surprised’ to discover Joshua “calling the name of Jesus”.

According to her, “I continued watching it and prayed with Emmanuel TV and the bedwetting immediately stopped.”

The young doctor said she had not experienced any form of bedwetting for over six years, to confirm the authenticity of her miraculous experience.

“My advice is for anyone who is going through any situation that seems impossible - they should remember that with God, nothing is impossible,” she concluded.

In his remarks on the video description, Joshua stated, "Whatever negative comment people must have made in the past about me, God allowed it so that He can use it to speak strength and courage into my life. Man’s rejection provokes God’s direction. When man rejects you, God would start to direct you.”

Pre Diagnosis Decries Increasing Fatalities From Growing Cases Of Self Medication Among Nigerians

A telehealth service provider, Pre Diagnosis International, has submitted that most of the deaths being recorded in the country lately might have been due to the negative effects of growing self-medication among citizens as a fallout of inability to access proper clinical care due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This was a major highlight of a position paper issued by the organisation recently on how public healthcare administrators can curtail the impact of COVID-19 on health delivery nationwide.
The paper noted that more Nigerians, especially those in the lower socio-economic strata, have been finding it hard to access quality and efficient healthcare due to financial constraint and ignorance. Consequently, more cases of self-medication leading to growing abuse of anti-malarial drugs, analgesics and anti-biotics have continued to trigger underlying health conditions, thereby causing avoidable fatalities.
“For a country that has for long been reeling under the various negative impacts of an underfunded health sector, Nigeria’s public health delivery system has been seriously dislocated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Health sector regulatory authorities cannot afford to watch the tide of frightening mortality and morbidity in the sector continue, especially among the poor and vulnerable citizens”, the paper stated.
PDI said as its contribution to energizing a national drive to revamp public health delivery, it has introduced a grassroots-targeted telehealth App as a modest initiative that could prove landmark in the nation’s quest to maximize the scarce health resources at her disposal in the delivery of health services to the populace.
The App initiative, the company observed, would help to reduce self-medication and its dangers as the focus is mainly to help poor and vulnerable Nigerians in, especially, rural and semi urban hard-to-reach parts of the country to access quality clinical services from their phones.
“Ours is a semi-philanthropic, charity-driven, hybrid telehealth brand with a mission to create technology-based solutions that would help Nigeria perfect different layers of health services delivery model that can transmit effective and efficient medical services to the most vulnerable in the society, to achieve the best health outcomes, such that location and socio-economic status will not be a barrier to accessing quality healthcare services in any part of the country. We are pursuing this objective under our organisation’s charity-styled Reach, Rescue and Fortify mantra aimed at delivering healthcare to two million vulnerable Nigerians annually.
“The PDI App is an interactive mobile application that gives users immediate access to highly trained and experienced full time PDI doctors who can assist them access quality healthcare from home, office, on a business trip or vacation. With just a meagre annual subscription, the user can also obtain and store latest blood pressure reading, heart health vitals, blood sugar information, as well as other vital statistics required to comprehensively evaluate the state of their health status.
And all these and other benefits are accessible at the payment of just the annual subscription and no other payment”, it explained.

Nigeria @60: Federal Government Endorses Former Thisday Society Editor, Lanre Alfred’s Book on 60 Foremost Nigerians

The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the National Council for Arts and Culture, NCAC, has endorsed a forthcoming book titled, Nigeria @60: 60 Foremost Nigerians In the Last 60 Years; being written by celebrity journalist and author, Lanre Alfred.

According to Otunba Olusegun Runsewe, Director-General, NCAC, “The book is a transgenerational effort that is in tandem with the federal government’s appreciation of the need for proper documentation in enduring forms, significant events of our chequered history and the roles of outstanding men and women who created the history.”

Runsewe further said the book is of significant historical and cultural value to this generation, especially as Nigeria counts down to her 60th anniversary.

Speaking on the essence of the book, Alfred said Nigeria is a nation guilty of not keeping data, which has, over the years, led to the distortion of Nigeria’s history. “As Nigeria turns 60 this year, it behoves us, therefore, to record and recall for posterity, historians and today’s youth who are bereft of quality role models the inspiring exploits and attainments of Nigeria's foremost citizens of the last six decades while documenting and highlighting their outstanding resilience and perseverance in their ambitious dash for honour and progress in the face of daunting political and socio-economic odds,” Alfred said.

He said further that he finds it particularly inspiring and instructive to share the story of Nigeria’s heroes past and present with this generation which has so much to learn from their enviable professional and personal trajectories.

Alfred affirmed that the book would be out in October to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Nigeria and will be made available to libraries and higher institutions across the country.
A former society editor at Thisday Newspapers, the widely-travelled journalist is also the publisher of the popular coffee table books; Titans...The Amazing Exploits of Nigeria’s Greatest Achievers; and Highlife - Lifestyles of Nigeria's Rich and Famous; and biographies like Pacemaker - Triumphs of Igho Sanomi at 40; The Lion of Afia Nsit - Triumphs of Scott Tommey at 45; Julius Rone…The Jewel of the Delta; and Dapo Abiodun…The Heart of Prince.

NDDC Crisis: Akpabio Refutes Corruption, Sexual Harassment Allegations

The Minister of the Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has refuted allegations of corruption, sexual and workplace harassments, pipelines bombings, secret cult activities, abuse of office, amongst others levelled against him by Mrs Joy Nunieh, the former Acting Managing Director of the Interim Management Committee of the Niger Delta Development Commission, (NDDC).
In a statement signed by his media office, Akpabio said his initial attitude to the allegation was to allow his lawyers and the judicial system vindicate him but that he was compelled to react due to the allegation of sexual harassment. “The Honourable Minister did not at any time, place or circumstance make any form of sexual advances to Ms. Nunieh, not even to put himself in a position or posture suggestive of sexual advances towards Ms. Nunieh or any female staff of his Ministry or the NDDC.
“For the records, the Honourable Minister, Senator Godswill Akpabio, CON, is happily married and contented with his wife. Together, they are blessed with children, four (4) of whom are young women. The Honourable Minister is an avid believer of the Affirmative Action and that was visible in the appointments he made as a two-term Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State between 2007 and 2015. Under his watch, he appointed several women into various high-level positions as Chairpersons of Local Government Councils, Magistrates, Judges, Heads of Parastatals, Directors, Permanent Secretaries, and Commissioners.”
The statement posited further that Akpabio has always championed and still champions the cause of women and young children and that he is the first governor in Akwa Ibom State to have a female deputy governor; the first to appoint female Chief Justices of the High Court; recommended women for ministerial appointments one of whom was a Minister of Housing and Urban Development; and supported for an appointment the first female Vice-Chancellor of the only Federal University in the state among others.
As the Governor of Akwa-Ibom State, the statement went on, “Akpabio summoned the political will to stop modern-day slavery where young women and children were ferried away from the state to other states in Nigeria to be used for all sorts of menial chores as housemaids and many suffered unimaginable maltreatments and unethical trade malpractices. He ensured that anyone caught in that trade was severely punished. He signed the Child Rights Law to protect children, especially the girl-child from stigmatization and punishment by ordeal where some were executed or banished on allegation of witchcraft. The Child Rights Law also made primary and secondary education in Akwa Ibom State free and compulsory; educating the girl child was his topmost priority.”
Further, Akpabio wondered why Ms. Nunieh did not report the alleged incident to the police at the earliest opportunity if indeed it was true considering that she left office since February 2020. Thus, Akpabio stated, “Waiting till July 10th and 13th 2020 when the National Assembly appears to be probing some of her actions as the Acting Managing Director of the Interim Management Committee ("IMC"wink exposes her motive, especially at a time when the momentum for the Forensic Audit Investigation of the NDDC is heating up and the truth is about to be unveiled for all to see. The critical question is who is afraid of the Forensic Audit at the NDDC? Who is afraid of the truth? There is no doubt that Ms. Nunieh's attacks are both personal and sponsored. Those afraid of the truth and who wish to bury it from seeing the light of the day are strenuously behind Ms. Nunieh's vicious campaign of calumny.”
According to the statement, Akpabio has a mandate from President Muhammadu Buhari to unearth looting and financial misappropriation that had gone on at the NDDC since inception in 2001. “He is committed to that mandate through the forensic audit of the NDDC and will not be deterred or distracted from that goal. This campaign of calumny aims to simply get Senator Akpabio out, kill the forensic audit and continue business as usual at the NDDC,” read the statement.
On the allegations of his involvement in contract racketeering, the bombing of oil pipelines, corruption/diversion of funds, Akpabio stated that he had declared several times and at various fora that since his assumption of office, he had only awarded three contracts till date; the appointment of the lead forensic auditors which was approved by the Federal Executive Council; the emergency procurement contract for COVID-19 intervention in the Niger Delta Area, which due to its urgency, had his interim and presidential approval in line with the Bureau of Public Procurement Act; and the award of vehicles purchase duly approved by the Bureau of Public Procurement and the Federal Executive Council but which is yet to be consummated.
Reacting to Nunieh’s allegation that he directed her to change the Dollars in the NDDC's account, he said, “It should be noted that NDDC's Account is domiciled with the Central Bank of Nigeria. Every inflow and outflow is known and traceable. The NDDC gets its revenue in Dollars which is paid directly to its Treasury Single Account (TSA) with the CBN. The Dollar is then converted to Naira by the CBN and paid into the NDDC Naira Account still domiciled with the CBN upon a written application from the NDDC. It is, therefore, impossible for any sum of money belonging to the NDDC with the CBN including the several figures bandied around as missing to be missing.”
He stated further that unlike in the past when the NDDC had over three hundred (300) bank accounts in different commercial banks, that practice had since stopped under the Buhari administration, which gave full effect to the application of the Treasury Single Account and the NDDC now has its accounts with the CBN. “The Honourable Minister does not give verbal instructions to anybody; all instructions are in writing and in response to a request from the commission,” read the statement.
Nunieh also alleged that Akpabio directed her to remove Mr. Kaltungo Moljengo from the legal unit and send him on compulsory retirement because he is a northerner. In his response, Akpabio said his track records mark him out as a totally detribalized politician and one of the best friends of Northern Nigeria, stating that he was informed by the NDDC management that over twenty-three (23) top Management Staff from various parts of Nigeria including the Niger Delta region, who have evaded leave in the last ten (10) years or had the tendency to influence negatively the ongoing forensic audit, were recommended for mandatory leave by the lead forensic auditors but they are still a staff of the commission and currently receiving their monthly salaries and benefits.
While encouraging Nigerians to continue to hold their leaders to account, Akpabio urges them to be discerning and dispassionate before making far-reaching allegations, opinions and views. He declared that he has instructed his lawyers to seek necessary redress in a court of competent jurisdiction on his behalf over the defamatory statements made by Ms. Nunieh.
