DOTian: Is this country still a secular state as enshrined in the constitution if one of the constituent states can whimsically impose her preferred religion as the state religion!? Is that how federalism works in your own dictionary? Unfortunately so. Check the constitution there is actually a provision for sharia there. After all people went to court to challenge the legality of sharia and were surprised that some how it was actually indirectly smuggled into our constitution. Nigeria is a member of the Organisation of Islamic Community is Nigeria a Muslim country? Your guess is as good as mine. |
Politics › Re: Obasanjo: Boko Haram's Next Recruits Will Come From 14m Out Of School Children by huptin(m): 9:45am On Nov 26, 2021 |
DOTian: Stop providing cheap excuses for some utterly incompetent politicians. Obasanjo was not forced to take over. He campaigned vigorously to be president. Constitutionally , Nigeria is a secular state! So if a State governor starts to impose a sectarian religion on his state, as the commander in chief with all the coercive instruments of the state at his beck and call, Obasanjo should have taken actions to stop that. He dropped the ball there because he was selfish and a northern slave! That's the blunt fact.. He campaigned for it? Does the president have the power to stop states from practicing whatever they want to practice under a federal set up? I don't get it are you supporting illegality just because he campaigned for it? 19 northern states simultaneously launched sharia and you want the president to launch a war on all of them? Isn't that impossible? Why didn't Buhari launch a war on the southwest governors to stop Amotekun? The president simply have no such powers! The same you will blame Obasanjo for withholding Lagos local government funds when Tinubu created 37 new local governments saying it is illegal, the same you want Obasanjo to stop state governments from practicing sharia, aren't you confusing yourself? |

DOTian: This tout has been president of Nigeria for over decade! He was president as a young man and came back as an older man with a lot of "experience", but yet could not correct whatsoever that are the mistakes he saw from the sidelines. This guy allowed the Sharia nonsense to gain ground in the North through Zamfara. That's how Boko Haram started and the general insecurity in the North followed.
Everybody in the country begged him to stop Yerima from politicizing Sharia, yet after thousands were killed over the Sharia riots, he lifted no finger to stop that! Obasanjo is Evil. He knows all the problems of the country. He knows all the solutions and answers to those problems. But make him the president for a thousand times, he won't solve them, because he's part of the problem! He prefers to pontificate from Otta farm.. I dont understand, he should have killed Yerima? He should stop a state governor from practicing Sharia? The Zamfara people that wanted sharia are they fools? Is it not Buhari that was on the fore-front of the fight for the spread of Sharia? Have you blamed him? When South west wanted to start amotekun could Buhari have stopped them? If the north wanted to destroy themselves with sharia how is that Obj's fault? The north brought sharia, sharia subsequently brought Boko haram and banditry, please how is that Obj's fault. |

Try to search and research on what secret agencies in the world including DSS does. Ok. Maybe i should reframe the question, what exactly does DSS do for the people of Nigeria, i know they serve politicians but the masses? What does DSS do for them? |

Frankly speaking, I have been wondering about the usefulness of all these intelligence agencies, DSS, NIA, DMI etc, what do they do?
Where is the intelligence when terrorists will write communities ahead of their operations and still carry out their operations smoothly without hinderance, where is the intelligence when hundreds of children will be kidnapped, tortured at will and nothing happens thereafter!
Peter Afunanya wrote a long epistle but still fails to answer the basic question: what exactly does the DSS do? |

Buckeyemedia1: Does the Local Government not belong to the state? Don’t they share a joint account as mandated by the Constitution of The Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (As Amended), what right did The Federal Government (Obasanjo) have to withhold something that does not belong to you? State House of Assemblies are allowed to creates laws for their states, which is subject to Federal law, Federal Government has no business with Local Government money, that is the exclusive jurisdiction of the State, Obasanjo Abuse of power? Well the Supreme Court only reiterated my point. I have stated the facts as it is, you are now free to take sides. 1. The supreme court declared that both parties were wrong Local government Areas can only be created after been approved by the national assembly according to the constituition, if APC does not like this, well the party is in power now they can either amend that portion or approve the 37 Local government Areas but since they have not done so in 6 years i believe that the party agrees 100% with the constituition on that. 2. When the local governments were created initially, the plan was to make them independent of the state governmets but that has changed because the state governors insisted otherwise, Obasanjo wanted the Local government Areas to be independent and tried to force it and even Buhari in his last interview clearly stated the same thing, he clearly favoured it, according to him State governments wants more autonomy but are insisting on not giving the local government the same autonomy they are asking for, like i said you are free to have your own opinion on this, everybody does. 3. I personally do not believe in creating more recurrent expenditure in the name of local goverments, states or ministries, i believe a nation like Nigeria can do with less state Governors, less local Government chairmen and less Ministers. More Money shoud go to capital projects. 20 strong and virile local governments is better than 57 almost comatose ones 4. Finally the myth that Lagos state allocation was withheld has stayed for too long, no matter how many times you parrot it, it is wrong. Lagos State allocation is different from Local Government allocation and it has never been withheld. |

Buckeyemedia1: What concerns me with Abuja, how has the Governor, past & present Government of your state made your life any better? Or has the Governor of your state complained that his monthly allocation from the FAAC has been withheld from him, like OBJ did with Lagos State? How much IGR has been generated by your State government for the betterment of your life? Stop spreading lies, there was never a time that Lagos's allocation was withheld. It was the council's funds that were held and the reason for that was the creation of 37 more local government councils and the insistence by Obasanjo to pay the local government's allocation directly rather than hand them over to the state governments. The Supreme court later ruled that Lagos State Government was wrong to create Local Councils without following the constitutional procedures and Obasanjo was also wrong to withhold the Local Government allocation. After that judgement Lagos State changed the names of the 37 newly created Local Government Councils in Local Government Development areas and Yar Adua/Jonathan eventually agreed to be paying state's money belonging to the Local Government and the funds were released to the Lagos State Government under Fashola. |

Mr, jews and Christians aren't one, the jews hate Christians and persecute them in isreal. 1. There are American troops stationed in those countries as i speak, in peace time it is about trainings and exchange of intelligence, any one that attacks any of those countries attacks America, America will not hesitate to defend its allies, it has said so several times. 2. True, we know it, Jews have been persecuting Christians since time immemorial but we love them, we are one, our religion tells us to conquer hate with love. We don't hate moslems too, we believe we are one but we destest the violence associated with Islam and the blood thirsty nature of some moslems no matter how few they are.
