Don't be an idiot.
Trump and the USA owe Nigeria nothing.
If they decide to withhold their aids to us, then I see no fault from them.
In a sane country, 1.5b dollars per year for several decades now is enough to set up a good and working nation. But Africa is still as poor as it was before the aids started.
Its not as if you're personally benefiting from the aids. 80% of Nigerians aren't.
See this black man judging another man on his own money.
God bless you greatly, Dont mind these bunch of entitled beggars, $1.5Bn annually yet Bokoharam is still thriving, nonsense.

Politics › Re: If Not Becaus Abacha Died by huptin(m): 1:22pm On Jun 08, 2020
Who told you Abacha refused to handover Bakassi, you need to get educated! The Bakassi case was taken to the international court of Justice by Nigeria in 1994, following skirmishes between Nigerian and cameroonian troops, Abacha in his usual gra gra manner had wanted to face the cameroonians in a war, when France hinted that it would defend cameron if attacked by the Nigerian army, mum was the word from britain and America, they didn't give Nigeria any assurance of comng to her aid in case of a war.

Fearing that the west could use the guise of keeping peace between Nigeria and Cameroon to remove him from office Abacha was advised to head to the international court of Justice, which he did.
The judgement came in 2006, 12 years later and it favoured Cameroon ( by then Abacha was long dead) Obasanjo reluctantly agreed to hand over Bakassi, but it was in fact Yar adua who did so 2 years later.

Politics › Re: Was Abubakar Tafawa Balewa A Fulani Indeed? by huptin(m): 11:35am On Jun 07, 2020
FortuneDeGreat:
Going by the claims of the leader of miyetti Allah, Bello Abdulahi Bodejo in an interview with the sun newspaper few days ago that the Fulani produced the first and only prime minister of Nigeria which we all know to be Alh. Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, the first thing that actually struck my mind is "was ATB actually a Fulani by ethnicity?"

It prompted me into going for a detailed information about the ethnicity of the great man, after a careful study on that I was convinced that the Fulani are either laying claims on other component groups in their region or has fully succeeded in effecting a total assimilative principle thereby infusing in it's entirety the whole culture, religion and tradition of the Fulanis in others.

Going by record, Rt Hon. Sir Alhaji Abubakar Tafawa Balewa was born in December 1912 in the present day Tafawa Balewa LGA in southern Bauchi state to the family of Yakubu Dan Zala of the minority Gere ethnic group.

Furthermore, I discovered that just few original Fulanis have ruled Nigeria and they are- Shehu Shagari, Umar Musa Yar-Adua and Mohammadu Buhari, others are either of Hausa or minority folk.

For more clarification, I would like fellow nairalanders to lend their views and contributions to this.

Health › Re: Why Another Lockdown May Be Inevitable As Cases Doubled After Easing Of Lockdown by huptin(m): 7:05pm On May 17, 2020
Shehuyinka:
THE number of Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in Nigeria has doubled between Monday, May 4, when the gradual ease of lockdown began in Lagos, Ogun, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Saturday, May 16.

As it stands, the number of confirmed cases according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has increased from 2,802 on May 4 to 5,621 on May 16 representing about 101 percent increase in almost two weeks.

The number of deaths have also increased from 93 to 176; this is about 89 percent increase in the number of fatalities caused by COVID-19.

During the 35 days of full lockdown − March 30 and May 4, the number of confirmed cases rose from 131 to 2,802. In other words, an average 76 cases were reported on daily basis during that period, while an average of 235 cases per day has been reported within the 11-day period of the gradual ease of lockdown and more still to come.

While it is too early to link the ease of lockdown to the increasing number of cases, figures from the NCDC shows a daily progression in the number of cases both pre and post lockdown periods.

President Muhammadu Buhari explained while delivering his nationwide broadcast that the decision to ease the lockdown was premised on advice from the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19.

Buhari concedes the lockdown has hurt the country’s economy, especially in non-essential sectors that depend on daily income for survival. But the decision to relax the lockdown came as Nigeria’s number of coronavirus cases has been increasing.

While Lagos, Ogun, and the FCT were on lockdown, other state governments tolled the path of locking down their states. However, some of the governors have relaxed the lockdown order in their states, taking a cue from the federal government.

In fact, Borno, Ebonyi, Gombe, Adamawa, and Anambra states have all relaxed the order.

Edo state government has set up a committee to advise it on relaxing some of the lockdown measures currently in place.

Following the relaxation of the lockdown order in Ebonyi state, religious gathering of not more than 500 people will now be allowed in the state.

Interestingly, Kano state, the second most infected of the virus in the country relaxed the lockdown order imposed on it by President Buhari.

Health › Re: Why Another Lockdown May Be Inevitable As Cases Doubled After Easing Of Lockdown by huptin(m): 7:03pm On May 17, 2020
One thing to note is that cases of reported covid - 19 cases is directly proportional to number of tests done. You dont use absolute numbers to conclude.

During the lockdown period the number of tests per day was circa 300, now it has increased to about 1200, therefore although the number of daily infections has increased the rate of infection has reduced while the number of patients being discharged per day has also increased.

So it is not all gloom and doom.

each country needs to have a full policy document and piece of legislation on disaster management, this fire brigade approach is very stupid... we should set up a special fund in case things like this happens, because even after Corrona virus goes, Trump is hell bent on giving us another World War, and I doubt Trump vs China, Russia , Iran nuclear war wouldn't be more catastrophic than Corrona Virus, infact we should thank Corona virus for slowing down tensions between the western power bloc and the eastern power bloc

The sooner we start preparing for Lockdowns and War the better for us all, rather than making silly excuses of hunger , poverty and disease

Whats our excuse as Africans not to prepare, Isreal, Saudi and other middle eastern countries without good soil imported tonnes of fertile soil into their country and now produce more than enough agricultural product that they even export.

yet Africa with the resources are listening to insults from UNICEF saying blacks cant follow simple health guideline because they are lazy and hungry.. the sickening part is many people are already commending UNICEF for calling blacks hungry , lazy people who would prefer a plate of food to keeping healthy during dangerous pandemic

In 2020 white racist Unicef Directors still tells Africans , not to take simple health precaution because they are lazy , hungry poor and stupid, while the Unicef workers conducting this report had since travelled back through their various embassy in Nigeria to go to their own country to observe every health directives including lockdown

Buhari please end the lock down so that Kano and Jigawa people, lagos and ogun people can enjoy free movement and transmit whatever is killing them in hundreds across the entire country from SouthEast to SouthSouth and everywhere, Wike should also open the state borders and let Almajiri bring in food from Kano, last last na una without basic health insurance go suffer pass, Unicef people are already in their various countries 2nd week corona entered Nigeria, observing lockdown, Trump test all staffs and people close to him regularly, and once you are positive you can kiss the white house good bye, he isn't even travelling anymore for November election campaings

.
Read that write up and point out the lie in what UNICEF wrote, you want to lock down people living in shanties, slums and villages without food just to stop the spread of corona virus.. How possible is that?

The truth is lockdown did not work, will not work and can not work in Nigeria because we have neither the resources nor the structure to sustain it! Simple!!

I think you need to do a research on the countries you listed and compare them with the countries I mentioned and also Nigeria.

There are actually documentaries out there like the one I saw on Sweden that explains why they didn't need a lockdown.
So why did Nigeria need a lockdown? The rate of infection and death was even higher during the lockdown period than when it has been relaxed... Nigeria simply doesn't have what it takes to enforce a lockdown, we tried and even the government was thoroughly embarrassed, During lockdown millions of people were keeping vigil in the streets because of one million boys, police was collecting bribes, some bars were even open, is that one lockdown? Pray how do you lock down areas like majidun, okokomaiko, ajegunle and all the many shanty towns all over Lagos?

Copy and paste strategies don't work, WHO warned Nigeria to look inwards for our own strategy to fight the virus, rather like bats we blindly copied the lockdown strategy and now surely the nation's economy will enter a recession for a 2nd time in 5 years, Buhari will go down in history as the only preident globally to have pushed his nations economy into a recession at 3 different times!
Politics › Re: Borno Government Suspends Lockdown Indefinitely by huptin(m): 8:43pm On May 14, 2020
Jeromejnr:
What are you saying Mr. Man?

How is lockdown a waste of time in places like Italy, Spain and U.S?

How many more people would have died?

Is it because it didn't affect anyone close to you?

What about the overwhelming of medical centres for those who have other terminal illnesses to get treatment?
How could u predict how many could have died without lockdown? Did Taiwan lock down? What about Sweden? Czech Republic? Tanzania? Cross river? Kogi? Can you compare the number of death in those climes with what obtains in those countries that locked down?

In 6 months time the world will look back and realize that their has been no bigger mistake ever made than this thoughtless lockdown strategy ever!

Epidemiologists warned that interactions with viruses breeds antibodies that will eventually lead to herd immunity (exactly the strategy Sweden adopted) running away from it will make u very susceptible to it when you eventually relax the lockdown!
