de3lar:
So I had my interview yesterday at the Lagos Embassy, find within my transcript, so I can be well prepared for the next time I go, probably Abuja next time. Visa officer was a White lady probably in her middle thirties, she was actually nice and jovial until someone stressed her for like 30mins on a visitation visa.

VO: Good morning, pass me your passport please.

Me: Morning ma'am, here's my passport.

VO: Can I have your i20?

Me: Yes, have it.

VO: You're going to where?

Me: Wilkes University, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania to have a bachelor's in Civil Engineering.

VO: Why the US?

Me: Having just completed my HND in Urban and Regional planning, getting a degree in Civil Engineering, an environmental related course to my HND will make me well qualified and skilled to take over my pman's firm bla bla company.

VO: How did you know about this university?

Me: I got to know it through my pman as he made consultations through his associates to choose the best option for me to have a degree in Civil Engineering and that's his goal so I'll be well versed to take over his company when am done with my studies.

VO: Who's going to sponsor you?

Me: Definitely my Dad, he owns Bla bla company a firm that deals in bla bla bla

VO: Can I have his bank statement?

Me: Here you have it.

VO: I can see Polytechnic on your profile? And returns the Statement.

Me: Yes, like I said, I just completed my HND in URP few weeks ago.

VO: Boom, blue slip, bla bla bla.

I just comot there fast fast.

Meanwhile, I went there with all supporting documents from CAC certificate to EFCC certification, a pension documents stating the retirement wages of his employees, a signed and stamped letter from my dad stating he'll be supporting me and one from my mum too, my last tuition fee payment from my school and some of my school documents, school ID cards and dad's bank statement as well.

A few things I noticed; your response lack depth.

1. How did you know about this university?
You literally said your pman(assuming your dad?) handpicked the university for you….‍♂️

2. Why the US?

You also just said “because I just finished my URP HND, getting a degree will make me qualified to take over my father’s company”

Shebi you sef see say the responses no gel with the question the lady dey ask you.

Above all, consular wants to see that FI applicants are confident, high standing personnel that have a mind of their own etc.

I hope you get approved the next time.

@Moshkom, @UmmZayd, and co I have a peculiar question:

Can someone pay 2 visa fees and create 2 visa appointments (say one for Lagos and Abuja) with the same profile just to get a favorable date?

I know that question might be a bit confusing, so here's the backstory:

I have a visa appointment in Lagos in August which is just a day or two before my resumption date (I feel it is too close and I don't want to risk it, god forbid a denial). I interviewed last year in November at Abuja (using EA) and got denied. Hence, I am afraid my chances of getting another emergency appointment approved (especially for Lagos) might be very slim.

As early dates have been showing in Abuja, I thought to look towards Abuja for dates but I do not want to cancel the Lagos appointment I already have (because even though it is too close to resumption, it is still better than after-resumption dates). So I paid a new visa fee with the mindset of creating a fresh appointment for Abuja. However, I couldn't finish this registration because I keep getting the prompt that they have identified a very similar profile (my initial Lagos appointment) on their database and they want me to merge the profiles together.

My big dilemma now is, what do you advise I do given this current situation? If I merge the profiles, will I still be able to make appointments for both Abuja and Lagos?

Please help

I pray you get your visa approved. Congratulations in advance.

Ebi1:
Getting EA now is almost impossible… I had to pull strings to get mine… they gave me last minute yesterday. My family and I had to run all the way from Cotonou overnight to do the interview this morning… my school is starting May 23rd and I don’t think they wanted to give me…

Science/Technology / Is this the first social media management software to be built by Nigerians? by iamakbar(m): 11:23am On May 26, 2021
Young Nigerians have built a social media management software to help small and medium scale businesses thrive better. The platform called Simpu is a simple software for businesses looking to streamline customer interactions and business processes into one app. It allows you to sync all your chat direct messages (WhatsApp, Instagram, Twitter, Messenger, SMS) as one inbox. It also lets marketing teams find newer audiences at a lower cost of acquisition (CAC) using data they already have.

The interesting thing is, this is arguably the first indigenous social management software being built by Nigerians and specifically tailored for both local and global users.

According to the founder, Collins Iheagwara and his cofounders, Kolawole Balogun and Tioluwani Kolawole, the journey to building Simpu started a year ago when they set out on a daring mission to build an infrastructure that optimizes conversations on social media so merchants can connect with their customers seamlessly and efficiently.

“We realised that building the API wasn’t enough. There’s the need to build the use cases, build the tools that allow a business to go about their daily activities without stress,” Collins said.

Why is there a need for this software?

Have you ever tried to make enquiries about a product on social media? You send the merchant a direct message to ask about that bag you saw on their page. You wait for as long as 3-4 hours, sometimes longer just for the account handler to tell you that the person who will respond to your enquiries uses another account! Even with sellers that have e-commerce websites, the process is clumsy involving many unnecessary steps. Typically, you still negotiate the price with the seller via social media, then upon payment, you have to send proof of payment for confirmation. In the midst of this clumsiness, fatigue sets in. Sellers become tired of answering questions, and buyers become distrustful. This is what simpu is looking to solve.

Here’s are some of the features of Simpu.

Inbox
Simpu’s core feature is called Inbox. It integrates different messaging channels into one inbox so you can engage with customers and partners from one place. You can also unify the identity of a contact by merging their different social profiles as one. Beyond this, inbox allows you to perform functions such as snooze, send later and analytics on how people respond to messages. You can also assign conversations to team members to solve specific customer problems. These features increase the effectiveness of communication.

Process payment
Imagine you’re chatting with a customer who wants to buy a red bag costing ₦10,000 ($25). The current sales flow is that upon agreeing, you’ll ask for customer details and bank account information. When the customer pays, the person might need to send proof of payment. It’s a long process filled with avoidable steps. With Simpu, when you set up your account, you get a dedicated bank account. With this bank account, you can request payment using a unique link, once payment happens everyone is informed. This feature accepts payments in over 50 countries because of SImpu’s API integration with existing payment companies such as Stripe, Paystack, Flutterwave.

Soon, users of Simpu would be able to access credit directly from Simpu based on their transaction history.

List
Consider this feature as deeper and more efficient database management. With Simpu, List connects to other tools to allow for seamless flow of information. It’s flexible to use for different companies and different units. It helps you make more intelligent decisions. For example, you can segment contacts, based on the actions they’ve done: based on how often they’ve opened your messages or based on how much they’ve bought from you.

Simpu provides a suite of tools and services that meet people at their level of need. If you’re an Instagram seller who doesn’t do much you can decide to use only the inbox feature. If you’re a bigger company, you can take it a notch higher by using smart automation and data analytics tools that let you automatically send a customer birthday message or a notification of loan expiry. The ultimate goal of Simpu is to shorten the distance between customers and sellers.

Career / Wema Bank Opens Innovative Trainning School For Old And New Staff by iamakbar(m): 1:48pm On Apr 16, 2021
In Nigeria, commercial banks have a considerably high number of training academies. In fact, out of the 22 registered commercial banks in the country, 17 have accredited academies.

As the demands for a better career experience increase, banks are beginning to focus on the learning experience of their people by investing in learning spaces that provide students and instructors with what they want and expect. For a long time, banks’ training institutes have typically functioned around rigidity. From their spatial architecture, learning modes, to furnishings, these spaces hardly allow for flexibility which is a core requirement for the learning space of the future.

A very good example of a corporate learning space that is future relevant and user-centered is the Wema Bank’s Purple Academy designed by Spacefinish. I experienced this learning space some weeks back and here are the things I noticed there:

A Flexible Space That Supports Active Learning

Learning spaces that are flexible enough to allow users learn how, where, and when they want will deliver more impact to professionals. By introducing elements like dynamic modular furniture into the design of the Purple Academy, Spacefinish ensures that users can enjoy endless configuration that accommodates peer-to-peer collaboration or focus work as their various learning situation demands.

Multi-functionality and Blended Learning

Corporate institutions need to reimagine their learning space to allow for blended learning which allows for physical and online learning experiences to take place at the same time. The Purple Academy boasts audiovisual features like screens on the wall and ceiling-mounted microphones to optimize the experience for remote learners. Also, the lecture theatre spots a collapsible wall that not only inspires users but also enhances the multi-functionality of the space.

Engendering Innovation Through Inspiration

Students and instructors want to be a part of something creative and inspiring. However, traditional learning space comes with a lot of inhibition in this regard by being bland and uninspiring. In designing the Purple Academy, Spacefinish infused copious inspiration touchpoints. The library in the Purple Academy reflects the influence of technology on libraries. To portray this, Spacefinish installed tablet-like bookshelves to show how educational materials can now be accessed through digital devices

Wema Bank’s Purple Academy really has shown that it has become paramount for corporate institutions like banks to reimagine their learning spaces. Through the intentional design of learning spaces that are flexible enough to promote collaboration and innovation easily, corporate institutions can be assured that professionals can become the best version of themselves

Crime / 25 Years Of Business But Now I Have To Restart From Zero - ENDSARS Riots Victim by iamakbar(m): 7:01am On Nov 16, 2020
This story curated by Fundall is about a man who started from nothing, managed to build a business for himself and lost everything in the looting and vandalism that ensued after the Lekki massacre. A true life story similar to that of many entrepreneurs. We should not forget them. Read below:

I was about 21 years old when I came to Lagos with my then boss. I served him for 6 years before gaining my freedom. He was in the business of buying and selling electronic products. It took me a lot of hard work to gain stability and the trust of co-business owners. I got to the point where I sometimes get entrusted with goods worth millions of naira by my suppliers in Alaba. They trust me because I have delivered multiple times, and have never for once disappointed them, or failed to remit money in due time.

This tragic incident started with some early signs on Wednesday, 21st of October, just after the Lekki shootings. We were seeing destruction all around, but hoped it wouldn't get to us. The government declared a curfew, and we adhered to it. I live far away from my shop, so when the looting started and I was getting calls, I tried to come over, but there was no vehicular movement due to the curfew. So I started trekking down with my wife, believing that it wasn’t that serious, and my shop will be fine.

As we approached Ikotun, we saw dangerous looking men, with weapons like knives, sticks, flood the streets that led to my shop. Then we started to see fumes from several burnings ahead. I still believed I could rescue my shop, even if it meant pleading with the hoodlums involved.

By the time we got to my shop, it was too late. All the shops on the same line as mine had been burgled and looted completely. Goods worth about 13 Million Naira. They cleared everything in my shop.

Thinking back in retrospect, I wish I did insurance, but I avoided it in the past because of the stories I heard about them. It felt unnecessary because I could not foresee any danger like this. Right now, I have been advised to request for a loan in order to get back on my feet. But it sounds like a bad idea to me. I have never taken a loan in my life.

For the past days now, we have been getting donation assistance from friends in their little capacity. My shop is currently empty, but I sit here every morning, so that when the suppliers we are owing come around, they wouldn’t think we ran away with their money.

We just want to survive, even if it means starting all over again. I am not looking to recover all the money I lost but I am willing to start again, just the way I did 25 years ago.

Crime / How SARS Checked My Alerts And Judged It A Crime by iamakbar(m): 9:25am On Nov 02, 2020
One afternoon, I was attending a function with my Aunt. We were in an Uber. In the middle of a small traffic jam, we were approached by one scary looking armed man. I have anxiety issues, coupled with the fact that I have had multiple horrible experiences with SARS men in the past, so I immediately recognized them, and my heart started racing.

Out of nowhere, two other men, however wearing the black on black police uniform emerged. They pulled me out of the vehicle, requested my phone and forcefully made me unlock it. They searched through my phone, checked my emails and SMS alerts and found several financial transactions that were from my cryptocurrency investments. Immediately, I was labeled a criminal and fraudster. Before I could process what was going on, they dragged me onto an already-waiting motorcycle. That was when my palpitations got severe.

My Aunt was helpless as she was already late for her event. I would later realize that my dyed dreadlock hairstyle has been the reason for my previous arrests, as I am usually profiled on the basis of my hairstyle. I sat on the motorcycle with a gun bearing policeman behind me, and we rode to a police station about 2 kilometers away from my point of arrest. Upon entering the police station, my heart raced with fear, as I witnessed the torture of other young people like me. All along, I kept pleading that I was not a criminal, I presented my work ID card, one of the policemen grabbed it and flung it in the air. They grabbed me like a criminal and ordered me to pull off my shirt. They were armed, I was terrified, and I couldn’t object. They forced me to write a statement where I admitted that I was an internet fraudster. As if that was not enough, they also made a video of me with a mobile phone where I carried a placard, shirtless as I was. The placard had an inscription that says “Internet Fraudster”. I will never forget that moment.

My Aunt would later arrive with the Uber driver, and the negotiation for my release began. They asked if we wanted a quick settlement or we wanted the matter to escalate. We opted for a quick settlement, as I wouldn’t want to ever experience the cell, considering the torture over the counter was already way too horrible. Then they requested 2 Million Naira, or else I will be transferred into the cell. I objected and said I only had 20,000 Naira to spare. One of the armed policemen attempted to hit me with the edge of his gun. My sister, through the help of the Uber driver, went to the nearest ATM machine to withdraw cash, and I was eventually released. They didn’t delete the incriminating videos that were made of me. It still terrifies me whenever I remember that I am in some video somewhere where I have been forced to admit to being a fraudster. #StoriesIndeed

For the first time ever, Nigeria experienced its own Keke rally that kicked off on 7th August from the Stallion Auto Keke - Ijesha Showroom. The rally went through 27 cities and 18 states in the West, East, and North Central in less than 41 days. Collectively the convoy covered more than 26000 Kms.

The rally was flagged off from Lagos and covered states like Ogun, Oyo, Kwara, Kogi, Benue, Enugu, Ebonyi, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Abia, Rivers, Anambra, Delta, Edo, Ondo, Ekiti, Osun, to prove the durability of Bajaj Keke. It even spread the message of urging people of Nigeria to be responsible for maintaining hygiene to curb the spread of Coronavirus.

The vision from this rally was not only to take up the challenge of proving how durable the brand is but also to celebrate cultural and historic sites in each state by highlighting and sharing the Nigerian culture of host communities. The journey to these sites also brought forth the stories around it to encourage connecting the youth to their rich heritage.

Travel / Pictures Of Port Harcourt International Airport by iamakbar(m): 2:03pm On Sep 10, 2020
For travelers through the Port Harcourt International Airport, it is a whole new experience as they get to experience the airport like never before, all thanks to the collaborative efforts of FAAN, China Civil Engineering and, Spacefinish.

In 2019, FAAN consulted Spacefinish, a Nigerian design company to help design and fit-out both the new Port Harcourt and the Lagos international airports as part of its effort to redefine the experience of travelers passing through its international airports across the country. Spacefinish is known for the design of some of the continent’s most iconic workspaces like the first ever Google Developer Space in Africa, PwC Experience Centre, Andela’s Epic Tower amongst others.

According to the design team, “some of the questions posed at the beginning of the project is how do we tell rich stories of Port Harcourt and River state and how do we leave a lasting impression on the minds of travelers?”

"Port Harcourt is a beautiful city that has had its share of negative media attention. So we thought of ways to bring together different iconic parts of the city to create a unifying theme of the Garden City which Port Harcourt has always been called.”
In the mural, you’ll see the Mile One market with its colorful umbrellas, the people of Port Harcourt with their resplendent attires, and the greenery of the land, all reemphasizing Port Harcourt as the Garden City.

Opposite the Garden City mural is the Fish-Woman - a celebration of the rich and diverse cultures of Rivers State. Rivers State has over 10 ethnic groups that have co-existed peacefully for centuries, sharing a common interest in fishing as a favorite pastime. This mural at the Departure Lounge pays homage to this inherent reality.

The Floating Fisherman, one of Nigeria’s largest art installations ever, overlooks the executive lounge of the airport. The art installation is suspended 20ft in the air featuring over 700 canoe paddles, 3 lifesize boats, a 9ft fisherman casting a fishing net the size of a volleyball court, and a school of fishes swimming with a 20ft silver shark. The installation mirrors real sea life and it is an allusion to a favorite pastime of Riverians which is fishing.

The Towering Boat is an exaggerated life-sized boat that celebrates a lifestyle predominant in Rivers State. The boat also serves as a thoroughfare in the Departure terminal of the airport, and also a temporary seating area with movable furniture provided around its perimeter.

Airports are sometimes the first and last points of contact for travelers and Spacefinish has ensured that travelers through the Port Harcourt airport have something of the city to take along as with them as they travel. The design company is also currently working on the Lagos International Airport and is expected to deliver yet another masterpiece project very soon.

Travel / The New Port Harcourt International Airport Looks Great! (photos) by iamakbar(m): 1:05pm On Sep 08, 2020
Airports are now open for local and international flights albeit some restrictions and it’s such a relief to be able to fly out to different destinations yet again. There is no doubt that many people will be excited about the opportunity this offers; the sheer joy of seeing other parts of the world after months of lockdown. For travelers through the Port Harcourt International Airport, it is a whole new experience as they get to experience the airport like never before, all thanks to the collaborative efforts of FAAN and Spacefinish.

In designing the airport, the design company seeks to leave a lasting impression on all travelers by incorporating designs that highlight local culture and various aspects of the lives of the people of Rivers State. According to Michael Ndupuechi, one of the company’s designers that worked on the project “some of the questions we asked ourselves at the beginning of the project is how do we tell rich stories of Port Harcourt and River state and how do we leave a lasting impression on the minds of travelers?”

Politics / The Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Bypass, Calabar: How Nigeria Is Strangling Her Own by iamakbar(m): 1:11pm On Jun 13, 2017
Foresight is one of the major attributes of leadership. You also must lead by example and in Nigeria where government is the biggest spender, projects initiated should be people oriented and achievable with direct positive impact on the community especially the less privileged.

One such example of this project is the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Bypass Calabar, which was conceived by the erstwhile Governor of Cross Rivers State ( Senator Liyel Imoke).

Goodluck Ebele Jonathan bypass Calabar, was commissioned by the Ex-President Jonathan in February 2015, the 7km dual carriage way starts from Atibo roundabout and terminates at the Lemna road, with a flyover and an interchange. This project was initially thought to be unachievable, because of the terrain. Initially a single carriage way terminated at FGGC School in Calabar just after the SSS headquarters because after the FGGC section was a mangrove swamp that spammed over 5km, with thick forest infested with reptiles.

The project was kicked off in 2012 by the state government after careful procurement process and adhering to strict due process procedure; and guidelines, various international companies suggested deck on pile, etc, thereby escalating the project beyond the reach and budget of the state which was struggling with paucity of funds issues and it was awarded to an indigenous firm – Sermatech Nigeria Ltd. at a fraction of the cost, because the procedure adopted for the construction of the road through the swamp was completely innovative and carefully thought through, with the guidance and the close monitoring of a very highly seasoned Consultant – Engr. Bassey Ekanem of Abeno associates and the strong supervision and encouragement of the technical/ engineering crew at the state Ministry of Works, Hon. Leghon Idagbo and Engr. Godwin Akeke. To this end therefore, huge stabilization culverts were introduced to carry water across at every 50 meters, massive sand fill was initiated, and used to capture the swamp, before covering the carriage way with geotextile and geogrid materials which acted as an anti-porous filter membrane and a reinforced barrier, thereafter a 200cm of hardcore was spread all through the carriage way, compacted on to the reinforced membrane ( geogrid), and laid over by 200cm of stone base, then specified binder and wearing course of asphalt, the rest, they say is history.

The impact of this bypass on the traffic from the cement factory through the main town cannot be imagined; neither can the convenience be quantified. This bypass has opened up a new city in Calabar, both residential ( public & private) and industrial. To date all the present administration’s pilot projects have been located on the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan bypass in Calabar – from the Garment factory to the Rice Mill and the pharmaceutical industry, all pet projects of Senator ( Prof) Ben Ayade, the Governor of Cross Rivers State. It is pertinent to note that Sermatech is an indigenous contractor and 2 years after commissioning Liyel Imoke’s signature project, the contractor has not yet been paid. Recently the bypass was visited by the acting president Prof. Yemi Osinbajo to commission and inspect other projects in the area. All these projects are only possible because of the creation of the bypass by Sermatech Nigeria Limited.

This is unfair and unacceptable, paucity of funds should not be an excuse, since billion naira projects have been sited on that same road that has been paid for, in order to support Nigerian owned businesses, keep 100s of Nigerians gainfully employed in this time of recession we urge the government to honour and pay outstanding invoices to the indigenous contractor that performed this feat since government is a continuum.

God bless Cross River State
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria

Nairaland / General / 4 Bizzare Business Opportunities For African Entrepreneurs by iamakbar(m): 7:00am On Mar 17, 2017
Africa is a continent with many peculiarities. From the people, down to the demography, the continent has always had something amazing up its sleeves. Now with amazingly strange business opportunities springing up in the region, the continent sure is laden with many unexplored sides. Through the business realities of some African entrepreneurs, one quickly gets the idea that an idea could be anywhere.

The savvy African entrepreneur knows that finding a real need or problem usually always precedes a brilliant and or unusual business idea. And a brilliant idea sustains itself creating a positive impact in the community.

In the quest to seek out African entrepreneurs with great businesses or ideas, we have discovered quite a few successful business realities that are totally astounding. These business realities involve making money from maggots, floating a business with less than $100, business from urine, and trash!

Unbelievable, right? Well, find out for yourself…

Maggots Can Make You a Millionaire

As an entrepreneur, you need to envision what the meaning of the phrase in this context means. Maggots = something not usually thought to be a money-maker or can literally mean maggots, the squirmy worms that eventually metamorphose into flying insects. However, in South Africa, a young entrepreneur is generating millions through his maggot harvesting business. Also, here, we see some entrepreneurs who were using “bugs” to put nutrition on the plates of thousands of households. Many businesses can self-sustain by simply collecting the Chitoumou, the local Burkinabe name for Shea caterpillar, drying it and feeding it to their chickens. Other businesses domesticate maggots as a business.

Maggots can offer a lot of value. First, they feed off organic waste which is much cheaper than regular animal feed, which you’d otherwise feed domesticated maggots. Second, they produce a nutrient-rich fertilizer that can be sold or used. And finally, maggots are harvested and ground to make a maggot-based animal feed that is not only significantly cheaper than other options but is also much higher in nutrition.

Guaranteed you’ve been in a conversation with a girl and you were like “Ugh, I just wish there were emoji’s to express this!” Like yea there are now! As sexting is more than just a conversation, with the Durex BBM stickers- it can be an art, a creative medium through which to express your inner most sexual desires. Any grown man or woman knows there is no need to be coy when it comes to being an avid “sexter” as you are empowered enough to know what you want and ask for it.
Being comfortable enough to discuss your sexuality is key to having a safe and better sex life. Now the Durex BBM emoji is an easy way to playfully connect with your partner on an intimate level. These are some of the stickers:

2 Hands: This lil' number is like the missionary position of the emoji sex game. It can also be “Fingering approach” for fore play.

Eggplant: Easily seen as a representative of the male genitals. The eggplant is always a solid go-to (pun intended) for a normal-sized dude.

Cherries: The cherries are mostly used to sexually represent a normal size female breasts.

Pilled Off Maize: The Maize is a more descriptive way to sexually refer to a male part especially uncircumcised male genitals.

Apple: A sexual representation of the female buttocks.
Cucumber: This is quite popular as it is used to describe a more than average male sexual organ.

Missionary Style sticker (Safe Sex)

Banana: This another solid go to describe a normal sized dude

Durex Condom (Safe Sex)

Titty Sexing: The egg plant in between what watermelon, you get the picture.  If you want your partner to hump your chest but don't feel like saying it out loud, these emoji will come to your rescue.

Straw berry: An easy go to for dudes to describe the female sexual organ.

DTS:  It may not be your go-to position, but if you're sexting and want to let your partner know you're DTS (down to starfish), this emoji combo will serve you well.

Mouth Action: The emoji combo represents the pre-intimacy act. If you want to tell your partner you can swallow during Mouth Gig this will just be suitable.

Hand Job: The emoji combo is a go to represent jerking.

Shower or Bath tub Sex: These sticker combo will come to your rescue if you are trying to describe a bath sex.

Banana and Doughnut: These emoji combo can be used to represent a lot of sexual foreplays, Mouth Action, licking etc.

Doggy Style: Fancy poodle emoji is the only option for expressing your desire for doggy. It's so much classier than the little mutt that most people would gravitate toward. And is there a more stylish and effortlessly cool emoji than sunglasses guy? Not that I’m aware.

Cunnilingus: You have to give love to get love, this is the easiest way for the ladies to tell the guys to give some oral magic.

Boner: Well a creative emoji for guys to tell ladies they are Hot or hard.

Getting Kinky: The combo is a take of 50 shades, it can be used to express ones kinky desire. There’s like a 11% chance that this will work, if you don’t want to say too much.

So whether you’re hitting up a cutie you met at the bar, sliding into a girl’s DMs, or chatting with your partner, Let’s face it, these Durex BBM stickers is probably going to do better than any creepy word you use.

What about the price?
I bought it 35k here in Yola
Phones / My Experience So Far With The Tecno L8 Plus by iamakbar(m): 6:41am On Jul 10, 2016
Eventually, I decided to buy Tecno L8 after serious considerations and scrutiny of both the phone and its battery-capacity contemporaries (Gionee M5, Tecno L5, Infinix Hot Note 2 et al), i headed to phone shop to make my purchase.

Getting there, i was a bit surprised when the attendant told me they only have L8 Plus. At first I thought it was the oversabi attitude of most attendants who in an attempt to sell, attribute irrelevant names to product. I was wrong. The attendant clarified that while L8 has just one 1GB RAM, L8 Plus boasts of a 2GB RAM memory. I was elated. I have seen and read about how frustrating 1GB RAM phones can be.

For brevity's sake, I'd like to state that L8 Plus is everything like it forerunner, L8. The only difference lies in the RAM.
However, for the benefit of those that mightn't have known, here are the basics about the phone:

Camera:
While for an 'unrepentant' picture snapper and Selfie taker, this might be a no no, the 8mp back with flash, 2mp front w/o flash camera will trump a lot of other phones within it cadre. It HDR option gives it a significant boost. I am contented with the quality.

Memory:
The 16GB ROM, 2 GB RAM is a seamless delight when i multitask between apps and play heavy games. No delay, no hang.

Battery:
Ehn ehn! While some might believe the price, coupled with the RAM is the unique selling point of the phone, I think the 5050mAh battery life is major perk of the phone. For one, it was what bought me over. However, I think the 5050mAh battery didn't live up to expectation. My take is that a battery with such gargantuan capacity should atleast last 3 days without heavy usage while heavy use of the phone should still give like 2 days of battery life. L8 Plus does not. A full charge without heavy usage gives you a max of 38 hrs or thereabout while you can only like 24/26 hrs for heavy usage. After surfing the net with 3G network and watching two episodes of GOT, and 60 mins of Now You See Me 2, there was only a considerable 20+% drop in my battery level. Suffice to say, i had my data on while watching the movies.

Operating System:

Prior to this time, i knew nothing about HiOs, never even knew Tecno had gone the way of Apple to create its own custom O.s- HiOs
The HiOs comes with some interesting perks like the Micro intelligence, Hi Theme, Hi Manager, App freeze, Ultra Mode, Wallpaper Switch et al( nothing entirely new that you won't get from the settings option of other android devices, except probably for the beautiful themes and Wallpapers). The HiOs really takes the lead in terms of graphics and User interface.

My L8 Plus is just 4 days old, thus, the discovery phase is still ongoing but as it stands i will peg the phone at 80/100 on all fronts except the battery. For the battery I'll give 70

Ps: Pic2 is a feel of one of the many beautiful wallpapers that abound in the HiOs
1 was taken with the 8mp back camera.

PPS: My feel about the battery is tentative and still under study. I just watched a 1hr35mins movie with HD @only 7% deduction of battery, which I feel is pretty fair.
