foolbuster: Lolz, trained my ass. A dog you can't control when there are strangers in the house. Unless locking him up is part of the command. Part of the training is to make him attack strange faces and I don't want him interacting with strangers in the compound hence the locking up. Why would I want my security dog to be free without restraint and "controlled" when strangers are in the compound?. Did I ever imply that I want him to be free around strangers and I can't control him? Roscoe was present at the last Rivers State dog walk and he walked the whole distance without any incident of attack, I even used public transportation to take him to and fro with other dogs in the car. So tell us how a dog that guards his territory and is still stable outside amongst crowds of people and dogs with loud music "trained your ass" |

nairamaniac: Iamanderson, I always wanted to ask.
Perhaps the answer to this question may even be inside this thread. But man cants read every post here.
The question is: did you train Roscoe to obey/understand certain commands? Commands like: sit, stand, fetch, bark, don't bark, to your cage, etc If yes, how did you go about it?
Also do you keep roscoe as an adult Indoors? Like inside your own apartment? Yes he's trained, also home trained too He can sleep in my room if I want and he won't give me trouble |

Mariomadiba: Hello guys, so yesterday was quite a debate in my house, my family wanted me to let the dog sleep inside but I was adamant to that suggestion, reason being that, he might mess up the house. Well, he spent the night at a little flower house and he whined all night.
I plan on letting him sleep inside tonight but I’d love to here other’s opinion.
He had his first bath today and so far so good, he’s doing well here.
Eveezy vincentjk Iamanderson Frowland 14teenk Teddy is a lovely boy, I suggest you shouldn't let him sleep in the house until he's potty trained. In my opinion, I think he should start getting used to being an outside dog, if he gets too comfortable inside...in the next 7months it'll be a big challenge |

rastaLivity: Vigil shamrock 8months 3weeks
Started making his territory with urine, becoming aggressive but still a calm dog overall (which I love most).
Vigil lost some few weight because he doesn’t like/eat his dry food so won’t be getting him another when he finishes the current one. Will stick with can food, meat protein and eggs. I'm guessing his final coat will be a mixture of the two, fawn undercoat and black second coat. |

rastaLivity: I have noticed vigil has become a heavy eater, he finishes full bowl of food at one go, just yesterday he finished 9 slice of bread mixed with 1 Jojo puppy can food and 2 raw eggs, was even licking his bowl sef. See me that was even planning to start giving him one meal per day. And his weight and strength is huge, takes everything to control him whenever we’re on a walk and he chooses to misbehave. It takes so much to care for a dog, especially a big breed. Vigil has never fallen sick; have never seen a tick on him. Hopefully it stays that way. It seems he inherited Roscoe's health, Roscoe hasn't fallen sick in almost 3 yrs now. The most complicated thing that has happened to him is worm infestation whenever I'm not around for long and with one dose of dewormer he's back to normal He has also never had a tick infestation before |

BlissGod: You're raising a caucasian with a mild hand. I hope t doesn't back fire. Caucasians are wonderful but stubbornness level is over a million. Better stay now to train him there is a thin difference between confidence and protection. He should be trained to never attack people when he's outside. Socialize him now maka tomorrow.
Call me for your Agro supply. I support rice, yam, palmoil, ginger, beans, elubo in bulk order. Call my signature lol he's one of the best socialized dogs I've ever met, I can confidently walk him through a full party with loud music and people dancing and he won't even flinch, I can also introduce him to people and even little children on the road and order him to sit and give them handshakes, even with all this, he can recognize threats and human agression, he can also recognize weapons, if you show any sign of agression around me or flaunt a weapon he'll switch immediately to protective mode and the same friendly dog is ready to bring whoever it is down. not a lot of dogs can do that, training is not "hard hand, it's teaching a dog how to read and understand situations and know how to react properly. and there is nothing strange with a dog meant for security or protection attacking people on the road, what matters is when and why it attacked, I walk my dog around 4am in the morning or 12-1am late at night, considering the security state of the country, wouldn't it be ridiculous if after carrying a dog like him I get robbed or attacked and he just panics? as he is now, nobody can raise their voice at me or walk threatenly towards me when I'm out with him or even raise a weapon. even if we're in a car, he can let people join us for rides but he also knows when to bark at or attempt to attack some other strangers that even attempt to touch the car. he understands when to be aggressive and when to relax even without commands, just by reading the situation. if he gets it wrong and tries to attack a person that is being mistakenly threatening, I use the "relax" command and he gets himself together. if that's not balanced then I don't know what is |

therealMcCain: Hello to the House
Please I need a Dog for security purposes, I have kids so I dont need something extremely aggressive.
I do need a VERY large intimidating looking dog, one whose Barking sound will scare folks away. I am inclined to buying a GSD.
So what will the house recommend
Lastly, for learning purposes, some Dogs go as high as 350k-500k while same breed goes for 150-200k
What's the difference other than the physical looks

rastaLivity: This past months has really been a journey, and cash sapping. My experience so far
1. Caucasian are really noisy breeds, they can bark on a stretch for hours. 2. They play too much( especially when you don’t walk them) which can result to self injury 3. They can shed for Africa, so grooming is advised 4. Not an indoor dog, they will rip you rooms upside down 5. Difficult to train, they loose attention easily 6. Very confident, especially in its territory 7. Misses me whenever I travel, doesn’t eat much till days later 8. 6 months old puppy will scare people off your way during walk ( I keep telling them “he won’t bite you, he’s still a puppy”) 9. Drooling: surfaces, hands and clothes won’t be spared ( I wonder how people who keep CO indoors manage it o) 10. Caucasian will always want to test you, they love it their way but don’t give in to their demands 11. If they are not engaged, they are sleeping So far so good, I see I saw |

rastaLivity: This stuff smells just like sniper, should I apply it on his skin directly? Don't do that, dilute some drops of it with little water and don't allow him drink it. Whoever sold it to you should have given you directions, that thing can kill your dog if applied wrongly |

oshdot: It all started about 5days back, I discovered my Marcus had diarrhea, the stool was watery and green in colour, he was at the same time vomiting anything he took including water.
I had been battling with tick infection up until the stooling and vomiting started. So I gave him a chemical bath using amitraz, and at the same time had to fumigate the compound using sniper. Marcus was safely kept away from the compound during the fumigation exercise. NB: The diarrhea and vomiting started before I gave him the chemical bath.
So I called my vet and informed him about the vomiting and diarrhoea, he asked if there were traces of blood in his stool and vomit and I said no, he then asked me to get flagyl, tetracycline, and BCO tablets to give my boy. Glucose was also poured into his water. But then his condition didn't improve, in fact it worsened. My boy didn't want to have anything except water, and the moment he drank the water he vomited every in no time.
I had to rush my boy down to another vet yesterday morning, and the vet immediately diagnosed parvo, I was devastated and kept praying to God to please save my boy. I believe the vet tried everything he could, he started by giving him drip to get him hydrated, but then at a point he just couldn't locate his veins anymore, his veins had totally collapsed, my boy's eye iris had turned green, I could see him fighting hard to survive, and I felt I had betrayed him.
Rest on my boy, I will forever miss you. I'm so sorry |

These are the first pictures of Roscoe I've posted since he turned 2 yrs old Trust me when I say he's bigger in person He acts more mature now , he doesn't play like before anymore, he's more into guarding the compound or mating. He's constantly marking the compound every single day now too He's currently 2yrs+ I'm working on getting a female Caucasian soon, he's alone in the compound right now

Pets › Re: Diary of my Caucasian Roscoe by IamAnderson(op): 6:41am On Feb 13, 2021 |
Last year after the Christmas holidays, vigil(Roscoe's son) came for a one month stay at my place with Roscoe Vigil was a handful just like how Roscoe was at that age, he caused a lot of damage and commotion with his mischief At a point, I wasn't freeing him anymore except I was there with him, when he's alone, I leave him on a long chain. Roscoe also got tired of him because he was always barking at him and following him around to hump him, he could barely reach Roscoe's body but it didn't stop him, he'll still jump and try to climb him I also had another dog with me that period which has been sold right now, a female black German Shepherd that vigil was always attacking, she was an adult dog but vigil was always challenging and trying to attack her so they never got along unlike Roscoe and vigil. The German Shepherd had to stay locked up somewhere throughout his stay because she was also pregnant so no fights actually occurred between them. I took him out for socialization walks and introduced him to other dogs and people too. There was a day that a female dog came for mating with Roscoe along with her puppy that was also older than vigil so I let him spend some time with them so he'd warm up to the presence of other dogs. It was when Roscoe was mating with the female that vigil watched them and started humping every dog and person after, I think he was imitating them or something Overall, vigil was a nice puppy, anytime I took him on walks or people came to my house for dog related things they were always admiring him and asking about buying him. He stayed for about a month and left around January, this was him at 13 weeks shortly after he came

Okay I'm back, I know I promised to update some time ago but I wasn't able to because both Roscoe and I fell sick. This is the first time Roscoe has fallen sick since he was born so I was scared a bit, he was vomiting and stooling and refused to eat for about a week I was also sick during this period too, so treating myself and also Roscoe was hard. At first what everyone was telling me was that it was parvo but I didn't think it could be parvo, so I put him on antibiotics, multivitamin injections and also flagyl and dewormed him. I also fumigated his sleeping areas and gave him several baths to kill every ectoparasite or pathogens that could cause infections. It has been a week since I started treatment and I'm happy to say that he has recovered, his weight has gone up and he's active again. I have also recovered from my own sickness also So he's all good now, when he's strong again he'll get vaccinated asap |

Naybahood: Boss I’m really impressed with the detailed information about the dogs . I wish people could be as loyal and informative as this .
I’m in the market for a pure breed Caucasian shepherd or a mix of saint bernad like yours is entertained too . I’m just worried bout the size of it due to the Saint Bernard genes.
I stay at Egbeda, Lagos his dogs are purebred Caucasians, they just have piebald genes in them hence the white colouration. they aren't saint Bernard mixed |
