Family Of Lady Who Died In SARS Custody Deny Cocaine Overdose Claims, Suspects Rape
The family of Ifeoma Abugu, a young woman who died in the custody of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Abuja, has said they suspect she was raped.
Igbere TV reports that Abugu, a graduate of the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) Enugu State, was arrested by SARS operatives at the residence of her fiancé Afam Ugwunwa in Wumba village, Lokogoma area of Abuja.
The following day, the 28-year-old who recently concluded her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) one-year programme died.
She had visited her fiancé after the introduction in Enugu four days earlier in preparation for the wedding in December, Igbere TV reports learnt .
Her family has asked the police to immediately do an autopsy and forensic investigation to determine the cause of death.
But the SARS claim she died of cocaine overdose.
BBC Pidgin could not speak with Mr Ugwunwa as the family lawyer said he was still in shock over the incident.
Abugu’s elder brother Alex said the family was heartbroken.
It was gathered that the three SARS officers of the Federal Capital Territory Command that carried out the operation were on illegal work.
The deceased’s family lawyer Ifeanyi Mamah told the BBC that the officers did not get permission for the operation.
The officers claim that when they arrived at Ugwunwa’s house to arrest him, they found Abugu unconscious on the bed and took her to a hospital in Maitama, but the hospital management said there was no free bed space.
They further said they took her to Gwagwalada Teaching Hospital but doctors told them on arrival that she was dead.
Contrary to the SARS operatives, the family lawyer said the pictures of Abugu’s body show she was physically and sexually abuse.
Mamah said the family was appealing to the Inspector General of Police to intervene and ensure justice.
Abugu’s elder broda, Alex, who is based in Lagos said he has not been allowed to see his sister’s body.
He said the FCT police has asked the SARS officers concerned to cover the cost of investigation placed at almost N600,000.
The FCT police commissioner Bala Ciroma has ordered a probe of Abugu’s death.

The remains of the late Nigerian Army Col. Dahiru Bako who was killed in an ambush by Boko Haram fighters in Borno State have been buried, Igbere TV reports.
The colonel’s patrol team was ambushed at about 10 am on Sunday near Damboa, about 85 kilometres from Maiduguri, the state capital.

COVID-19 Protocols Defied As Thousands Gather In Zaria For Emir Of Zazzau’s Burial (Photos)
Thousands of people including elites have gathered in Zaria to give their last respect at the funeral of the late Emir of Zazzau, Shehu Idris, Igbere TV reports.
Recall that the Emir, Shehu Idris died mid-Sunday at the 44 Army Referral Hospital in Kaduna and he was the 18th Emir of Zazzau.
Reports revealed that the corpse of the Emir was transported to Zaria in a hearse around late afternoon, in time for Janazah prayers scheduled for 5pm.
Igbere TV reports that many prominent Nigerians from all walks of life have condoled with the family of the deceased, Kaduna state government and the entire people of Kaduna.
President Muhammadu Buhari voiced shock and grief over the death of the emir.
Philip Shaibu, deputy governor of Edo and running mate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the Edo gubernatorial election, has lost the election in Etsako west, his local government area.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the results at 3:50am on Sunday.
The PDP secured 17,959 votes while the All Progressives Congress (APC) polled 26,140 votes.
Adams Oshiomhole, former governor of Edo state and suspended chairman of the APC, is also from Etsako west.
Oshiomhole has since thrown his weight behind Osagie Ize-Iyamu, APC governorship candidate in the state.
Although Shaibu and his principal, Godwin Obaseki, had contested under the APC during the 2016 election, they both defected to the PDP following the incumbent governor’s disqualification from seeking a second term on the APC platform.
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to use the Edo State Governorship election to create hope in the electoral process, Igbere TV reports.
Governor Wike is also the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Campaign Council for the Edo election made the appeal during a Live Television Programme in Port Harcourt.
He stated that the outcome of the election would provide hope for the general elections of 2023.
"Let everyone that loves this country ensure that the September 19, 2020 election is credible, free and fair.
"The Police and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) should show Nigerians that they can support credible elections.
"INEC should ensure that result sheets are not in the hands of individuals. Security Agencies should not whisk away collation officers and later bring them back with cooked results.
"Complete manipulation of the electoral process causes violence. No politician will cause violence if the Police and INEC do not compromise," he stated.
Igbere TV reports that Governor Wike said there would be a high turnout of voters on Saturday because the people of Edo State are prepared to put an end to godfatherism.
He stated that he carried out an independent assessment of Governor Godwin Obaseki's achievements and is quite satisfied that he would win the election convincingly.
According to him, no amount of money or intimidation will make the people of the State not to vote massively for Governor Obaseki.
The Governor urged the people to be vigilant and protect their votes because enemies of the State are hovering to truncate their will.
"The agenda of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is to win at all cost for us to go to the tribunal. That is why Edo people must be vigilant.
"I must commend the United States and the United Kingdom for the Visa ban placed on election riggers in the country.

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of ‘Zone 5’ in Benin City, Mr. Dabal Paul Yakadi, has bowed out of service barely 72 hours to Edo State Governorship election slated for Saturday, Igbere TV reports.
Yakadi, retired on Tuesday after attaining the mandatory age of retirement.
Igbere TV reports that he could not function during the Edo election Stakeholders meeting which was attended by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Adamu Mohammed.
The Zone comprises Edo and Delta States.
The Public Relations Officer of the Zone, DSP Emeka Iheanacho, said this on Wednesday in response to the inquiry by our Correspondent in Edo State.
Iheanacho who did not give details, said, “yes, the AIG has retired. But, does that pose any security threat?”, he asked.
He also disclosed that he does not know, Mr. Yakadi successor.
Recall that the retired AIG had resumed office in the Zone headquarters since Feb 11, 2019.
Prior to his deployment to the Zone, he had held various positions in the Nigeria Police Force which included the Commissioner of Police, Benue Police Command.
He was at one time a Commissioner of Police, Police Mobile Force, Force Headquarters, Abuja, Commandant, Police College Ikeja, Lagos State, and Commissioner of Police, Niger Police Command.

House of Representatives spokesman, Hon. Benjamin Kalu has dismissed media reports that reason behind Tuesday’s visit of the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio to the National Assembly was to settle issues with regards to the probe of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Igbere TV reports.
Hon. Kalu explained that there was no way the Minister could interfere with the probe, stating that investigation had already been concluded and the report had been submitted by the committee.
The Minister on Tuesday, paid visit to the newly appointed clerk of the National Assembly, Ojo Amos Olatunde, in his office at the National Assembly Complex.
Igbere TV reports that Akpabio had initially met with the NASS clerk, told reporters that the purpose of the visit was primarily to familiarize with the National Assembly clerk and to solicit continuous cooperation of the National Assembly towards the development of the Niger Delta region.
However, Reps Spokesman Benjamin Kalu while shedding more light on the motive of the Minister’s visit said that Akpabio emabarked on a friendly visit to the National Assembly.
He said “As representatives of the people, our doors are open to everyone inclusive, Ministers as they are part of the people we represent. If they knock on our door, we must open it and hear them out.”
“The Honorable Minister supervising NDDC was at the National Assembly today to familiarize with the new clerk of the National Assembly. It has nothing to do with the House of Representatives or the Senate. As a former member of the National Assembly, Akpabio has access to the National Assembly at all times because once a senator, always a senator. “
Speaking further , Kalu confirmed that the report of the investigation had already been submitted.
In his words “The agency under Akpabio’s ministry has undergone an investigation, and a report on the concluded NDDC probe is currently before the House of Representatives for consideration. His visit today has nothing to do with the finished investigation but to fine-tune the relationship moving forward for the interest of the Niger Delta region.”

Kalu assured that members of the ruling All progressive’s congress (APC) in the National Assembly were working in unison with the Executive arm to achieve the party’s manifesto.
He said “All the same, the manifesto of the party that brought the Government into place is pursued and protected by the three Arms of Government though they may differ, yet the purpose of Government should remain the same and be the focal point.”
“Our assurance to Nigerians is that we understand the mandate of section 88 and 89 of the oversight functions, and we will never sacrifice it on the grounds of relationship. Although it is good to have relationships within the arms of Government, no Arm of Government should sacrifice her independence based on a cordial relationship with other Arm of Government.”

A serious case of fraud may have been uncovered in the Micheal Okpara University of Agriculture, (MOUA), Umudike, Abia State, Igbere TV reports.
At the centre of the storm is a board member, Professor Kaka Bukar, who was alleged to have shown character that is inimical to the growth of the institution.
Igbere TV reports that the said Bukar, who is a professor at the University of Maidugiri, they alleged had contributed to the dwindling fortune of MOUA.
Bukar reportedly sat and supervised the sacking of over 800 staff of the University, demoted 47 professors which brought many litigations against the school with its attendant cost on the institution's resources.
Also, Bukar, was alleged to have been the chairman of employment committee and had since his appointment as board member in May 9, 2017, used it to enrich himself by selling same to the public.
Our correspondent also gathered that Professor Bukar, was alleged to have stood against the payment of over 55 months arrears of 30,000 Naira being occupational hazard allowance removed from the salary of technologists from October 2015.
A source in the school management told Igbere TV that it was the activities of Bukar that prompted them (members of staff), both academic, non academic, senior and junior staff to write the letter of no confidence on the board.
“The members are not against the chairman and some members of the board, but they are particularly angry with the actions of professor Bukar, which they see as detrimental to the development of the institution,” the source said.
In the letter made available to Igbere TV, the members of staff requesting that; “Professor Bukar's certificate be looked into, to verify if he actually deserve to be called a professor. His actions does not in anyway show that he worked or deserve that high status.
“ii. That federal government should as a matter of urgency remove him as a board member of MOUA.”
Court remands porn star, five others for shooting ‘sex movie’ in Osun Osogbo shrine
An Osun State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Osogbo on Monday remanded a 27-year-old IndecentStar identified as Tobiloba Jolaoso and five other in Ilesha Correctional Center over the alleged shooting of ‘sex movie’ at Osun Osogbo shrine.
The Nation reports that Jolaoso was arrested by the police following complaints from a member of Traditional Religion Association Worshippers of Nigeria, Amoo Awosunwon.
Jolaoso, Ladiva Aije, Juliet Semion Ahmed Olasunkanmi, Adeniran Eritosin, and Tunde Jimoh were dragged before the magistrate court on eight counts charge bordering on conspiracy, a publication of obscene film, an insult to religion, breach of peace, and damage of police station window.
The police prosecutor, ASP John Idoko informed the court that all the accused person and others now at large on July 25, 2020, at about 12:30 PM at Osun-Osogbo shrine conspired among themselves, act obscene drama which appeared on the face of it to bear pornographic pictures of young girls who were half-naked and published same with the knowledge that the owners of Osun Osogbo traditional ground or any other class of persons especially within Osun State will consider an insult to their religious belief.
He further stated that they conspired amongst themselves to commit a misdemeanor, causing a breach of the peace at Ataoja Estate Police Station by damaging a window.
He noted that offence committed contravened section 516, 233, 517, 249 (d), and 451 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. Il laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.
However, they all pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against them.
The counsel for the defendants, Mr. Tunbosun Oladipupo made an oral bail application urging the court to admit them on the most liberal term.
The prosecutor opposed the bail claiming that their actions can cause economic sabotage. He added that the scene is an international religion centre and might tarnish the image of the religion. If they are granted bail they will further break the law of Osun State.
The presiding magistrate, Mr. Isola Omisade remanded them to Ilesha Correctional Center and adjourned the case to September 17, 2020, for ruling on bail.
The Peoples Democratic party (PDP) has accused the former national Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole of stockpiling arms ahead of Saturday Governorship election in Edo State, Igbere TV reports.
The party, urged President Muhammadu Buhari and the Chief of Army Staff, Leut. General Tukur Buratai to immediately order a sting operation at the residence of Oshiomhole at Iyamho in Etsako West Local Government Area of the State.
The State Publicity Secretary of PDP, Mr. Chris Nehikhare made the allegation at a Press briefing on Sunday in Benin City.
He said the move will help to stop the use of fake military personnel in camouflage ostensibly to intimidate eligible voters during the election by the former Governor of the State.
“We want to plead with the Chief of Army Staff, Leut. General Tukur Buratai and also the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Muhammadu Buhari to stop Adams Oshiomhole from using soldiers to intimidate Edo people. He should stop him from having soldiers as part of his security details.
“We are worried by the underhand tactics being employed by the APC because of the desperation which has caught up with them.
“Their disgraced formed national Chairman of APC now comes to Benin to intimidate our supporters with military vehicles.
“Soldiers dressed up in Camouflage, roaming the Streets of Benin trying to scare Edo voters with Oshiomhole leading the way.
“He (Oshiomhole) is an ordinary Citizen just like you and I. I do not know what right he has or what qualifies him to around the Streets f Benin, Auchi and Esanland intimating eligible voters.
“This has to stop. It is unacceptable and provocative. We cannot even if confirm of they are Nigerian army.
“We had written petitions to the Nigeria police and the Nigerian Army to execute a search warrant at his property in Iyamho to confirm what is there because we have information that he is stockpiling arms.
“Apart from what we saw at the Weekend. It is a trial run to see how people will react, going around from Street to Street with soldiers in Camouflage vehicles and uniforms. We believe that they are fake soldiers.
“His house has to be searched immediately. Our people will resist the use of military to intimidate voters on election day.
“We want to appeal to all Edo Citizens that this election is not a do-or-die for Governor Godwin Obaseki. What it is for free, fair and transparent election where a new Governor will be elected. Obaseki will get a second term.
“We ask all Edo people not to indulge in any form of violence. urge PDP members not to indulge in any violence. We urge PDP women especially not to retaliate when they are attacked or unprovoked.
“We have intelligence report that this is the only strategy that our opponent wants to cause trouble, violence and disrupt the election…”, he alleged.
Igbere TV reports that Nehikhare, also accused the national Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu of planning to induce eligible voters in Edo State before and during the election to undermine the credibility of the election.
He further also advised Tinubu, former Governor of Lagos State to stop meddling into Edo State Governorship election.
According to him, “The godfather, Tinubu has instructed the 20 Local Government Council Chairmen in Lagos State to contribute N10 million each amounting to N300 million to pay votes in Edo State on September 19, 2020.
“That is Lagos State tax-payers money that is being diverted to support his god son, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, which makes the APC Candidate in Edo State Governorship election, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, his grand Godson.
“We want Tinubu to stay away from Edo State politics and to carve his boundary at Ore in Ondo State. This is Edo State, which was once part of the Western Union…But, we have left that position. We are independent State.
“He (Tinubu) should not interfere in the politics of Edo State. This is South-South in Nigeria, let him mind his South West.
“The N300 million is to buy votes…We want to tell him that Edo State votes are not for sale.
“Majority of Edo people are proud race and we cannot be colonised again.
“We want to once again appeal to INEC and security agencies to stick with the oath of office they sworn to. We are not asking them to rig the election in our favour, but, to do the right thing on that day.
“They must be transparent, fair, credible in all their undertaken. Edo people will determine who govern them with their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in their possession”, according to him.
But, the State Publicity Secretary of APC, Mr. Chris Azebamwan, denied the allegations by the PDP.
“That is what they are doing which is part of their gimmick and there is no truth in it.
“Tinubu is a man and if he wants to support election in Edo State, he does not need to go through the LGAs because he is no linger the Governor of Lagos State.
“The PDP allegation, defies logic and does not make any sense”, he said.
The University of Calabar (UNICAL) has announced Prof. Florence Banku-Obi as the first female vice-chancellor of the university in its 45-year history, Igbere TV reports.
Announcing the result on Friday in Calabar, the pro-chancellor and chairman of UNICAL governing council Nkechi Nwaogu said the process of the selection was transparent.
Thirteen candidates had indicated interest in the job.
“At the end of the day, we had a brand new first female VC of the university in the last 45 years. The interview was transparent and some of the contestants are part of our council,” Nwaogu said.
“What I expect of her is to look at what the outgoing VC has done because governance is a continuing process. She should invite all those who contested with her and build a team.”
Igbere TV reports that the new VC said she was elated, adding that it was a fair contest.
“I am very happy today, I just received my appointment letter from the 12th Council as the 11th VC elect effective from Dec. 1, 2020,” she said.
“It was a free and fair contest and I am happy about it. The University of Calabar should expect an inclusive administration from me.”
Prof. Banku-Obi will be taking over from Prof. Zana Akpagu whose tenure ends on November 30.
The new VC hails from Boki Local Government Area in Cross River and has been a lecturer in the Department of Education.
She is the only one who has served twice consecutively as dean of the faculty of education in the history of the university.
Banku-Obi has also served as the deputy vice-chancellor (academics). She has over 60 publications to her credit in both local and international journals.
She has also supervised over 30 postgraduate diploma projects, 12 master’s degree theses and eight PhD dissertations and has so far assessed 13 persons for professorial positions.

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the release of a female doctor, Bolanle Aseyan over false rape accusation.
Igbere TV reports that Ms Aseyan was arraigned by the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) on Wednesday before the Yaba Magistrates’ Court on allegation she falsely accused UK-based Dr Olufunmilayo Ogunsanya of raping her.
She is accused of conspiring with others now at large “to cause injury to the person, reputation and profession of Dr Olufunmilayo Ogunsanya by your false publication on the social media tagging him as a rapist, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 413 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”
The court ordered that she be remanded in the custody of the SCIID pending the perfection of her bail conditions.
The public was alerted to Aseyan’s appearance in court by social media activist Segun Awosanya, popularly known as Segalink.
Aseyan, however, denied that she was arrested and arraigned in court.
She also posted a video of herself in traffic on Wednesday on Twitter to prove she was not in custody.
Lagos police spokesman Muyiwa Adejobi, however, confirmed to IGBERE TV that Aseyan was released after she met her bail conditions.
“She was taken to court and granted bail, and she was released after the bail terms were met. So, it is not true that she was not arrested,” Mr Adejobi said.
Aseyan claimed Ogunsanya raped her when she visited him in the UK.
She reported him to the UK police and the General Medical Council (GMC), seeking the withdrawal of his licence.
Ogunsanya, who said they both had consensual sex after she manoeuvered her way to the UK, has been cleared by the agencies investigating the rape allegation.
Aseyan reportedly fled the UK after making the allegation against Ogunsanya.
IMSU suspends lecturers involved in alleged sex-for-grade scandal
The management of the Imo State University (IMSU), Owerri, has suspended two lecturers caught in an alleged sex-for-marks scandal.
In a recent video which trended online, the lecturers were caught in a compromising situation with their female students.
The university management has now taken the decision to suspend the duo pending when an investigation is concluded on the matter.
Spokesman of the university, Ralph Njoku Obi, confirmed the development.
According to him, the management of the institution has also set up a committee to probe the two lecturers.
He confirmed that the two lecturers captured in the trending video clips are lecturers of the university.
“We just came out of an expanded management meeting now. Management resolved to set up a panel to look into the veracity of the content of the video clips but as it stands now, the two lecturers have been suspended so they can give us ample room to do a proper investigation into the matter.”
“It is believed that the trending video clips may have again exposed the ugly underworld of sex-for-grade syndicates operating in the Imo State University, Owerri.
The two lecturers, who were caught pants down, are senior academics and are now cooling off in a police cell in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
They are Victor Obinna Njoku, a professor in the Chemistry Department, and Emmanuel Esogbuonye Agomuo of the Biochemistry Department.
Mr Njoku was videoed in a very compromising position, before allegedly trying to engage in sex with a lady suspected to be a student of the institution.
He was busted and arrested while still trying to make out with the lady, both naked.
One of the trending video clips showed where the other lecturer, Mr Agomuo, was being handcuffed by a security operative, while still stark naked, allegedly in a totally different sexual escapade.
Meanwhile, there has been a further assertion making the rounds that one of the ladies in the escapade was about getting married and in spite of her explanations and pleas, one of the said lecturers demanded and collected the sum of N150,000 and still insisted on sleeping with her.
It was at that point that the lady consulted the police and was asked to play along in what may rightly be called a sting operation.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that it won't hesitate to postpone the upcoming election in Edo and Ondo states if there is reason to believe that a serious breach of the peace is likely to occur if the election is proceeded with on the appointed date, Igbere TV reports.
Rotimi Oyekanmi, the Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, disclosed this at a Webinar organized by the International Press Centre (IPC) and Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals of Nigeria (ACSPN), on Monday, September 07, 2020.
He said; “INEC is not permitted by law to disqualify political parties from participating in the Edo governorship election, but Section 26 of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended) gives the commission the power to postpone an election if there is reason to believe that a serious breach of the peace is likely to occur if the election is proceeded with on the appointed date.”
Appealing to the journalists to be fair in their election report, Mr. Oyekanmi, assured that journalists will have a good experience with security agents during the forthcoming elections.
“Regardless of the not-so-pleasant experiences journalists might have experienced with security agents during elections in the past, they are rest assured of good experience this time around. We are grateful for the synergy and we will continue to work together. I assure you that the experience will be different,” he said.
He, however, said the commission has no interest in the outcome of the polls but the credibility of the exercise.
“It is the duty of INEC to provide a level playing field. We are not interested in the outcome of the elections but the credibility of the process, to ensure that materials get to the polling unit in good time.”
Igbere TV reports that the Edo and Ondo States governorship elections is slated to hold on September 19 and October 10 respectively.
It will be recalled that in 2016, INEC was forced to postpone the governorship election in Edo State by two weeks citing security issues and threat to peaceful conduct of the poll.
Already, there is anxiety in Edo as the residents are unsure if the much-anticipated election believed to be a straight fight between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC) will proceed as scheduled.

Igbere TV learnt that the Nikah (Muslim wedding) ceremony was conducted on Saturday in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The couple’s families, friends, neighbours and several Islamic clerics witnessed the ceremony.
As it is common in Yoruba weddings, the husband’s family brought money and items like yam, salt, clothes and drinks for the wife’s family, Igbere TV reports.
It is a remarkable chapter for the woman who claimed in her first video interview that she and her children were abandoned by Wasiu because they had blue irises.
The man denied the allegation, claiming his wife’s family prevailed upon her to leave him because he was financially impotent.
Risikat’s tale caught the attention of Nigerians at home and beyond, with many volunteering to help her and the children.
The biggest intervention came from wife of the Kwara State governor Olufolake AbdulRazaq.
Risikat and her husband met during a meeting in Mrs AbdulRazaq’s office on Wednesday, August 19.
The couple went for the meeting wearing the same attire, with the husband looking remarkably different from the deadbeat image initially created about him.
That was, however, not enough to bring them back together.
While Wasiu said he loved his wife and wanted her back, the woman insisted that she needed time to recover from the abuse suffered while they were together.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo says come Sept. 19 Edo people will bury dictatorship politically.
Governor Godwin Obaseki, candidate of the party said this on Friday during the ward-to-ward campaign rally at Ward eight, Ward 10, and Uselu market in Egor Local Government Area of Edo.
He noted that the “dictator” to be buried politically had already been retired politically.
He also said that the same “dictator” had before now sold the Uselu market adding that it was why the shop rental at the market was N1 million until the present administration, manned by him, came on board and reversed the sale.
According to him, what is bad is bad, adding that such people who do not have the well being of the people of the state at heart should not be allowed back to government.
The candidate emphasised that his administration was building institutions, noting that institutions would outlive individuals.
“Democracy will continue beyond us, institutions will outlive us, that is why this election is about building institutions,” he said.
Earlier, Mr Philip Shaibu, the deputy governorship candidate said that it was time for the youth to take their destiny in their hands.
Shaibu said that the nation and Edo, in particular, must return to the era of building institutions and not individuals for the benefit of all.
“Obaseki is a man of mission and vision for the state,” he declared.
He also charged the people not to be intimidated and ensure that their votes count on Sept. 19.

After all efforts to meet the girl personally to express his love failed, the young Fulani man took to social media, posting a video in which he offered 150 cattle as bride price if she agreed to his proposal.
When he learnt that she was getting married to another man, he accepted it as the will of God and announced his contribution of 50 cattle for the wedding ceremony.

“It is easier for a Fulani man to give you one million naira than to give you his cow.
“This shows how much I value and love her”.
Far from being a typical stick-wielding, forest dwelling cattle boy, Abdullahi is a google certified web developer and digital marketer with profound interest in digital photography and videography.
“I developed the website of Koode Radio International, a Fulfulde AM station located in Abuja, and I am the one managing the site.
“I am into journalism as a freelance reporter with the radio station”, he stated in an exclusive interview with Daily Trust.
He noted that he is currently focusing on using his YouTube channel to create awareness among his Fulani kinsmen about modern ranching business as well as train youngsters on technology and innovation.
Hanan first caught his attention on social media after he watched images of her taking professional pictures at an event in Bauchi.
Photography is a profession seldom explored by girls from the northern part of Nigeria, let alone Hausa or Fulani girls.
Scrolling down Hanan’s profile pages on the social media platforms, the young man came across many pictures and posts that showed how much he shared in common with this beautiful yet adventurous Fulani girl.
Just like him, she loved photography.
Within a short time, all his close friends knew about his preoccupation with the girl he was yet to meet and they nicknamed him Gorko Hanan, a Fulfulde phrase meaning “Hanan’s husband”.
He later discovered the photographer he had been pre-occupied with was the daughter of President Buhari.
Yet he was not scared. Rather than recoil in fear, he searched for more information about the young photographer, and made further enquiries.
Head over heels
One thing the Fulani boy failed to realise was that he had fallen in love with Hanan until a close friend called his attention to the reality.
“It was later that I got to know she was the president’s daughter”, he revealed.
Staring at her photograph on the screen of his computer, he said, he understood the pursuit of would be a herculean task, yet he would not give up.
He was determined to look for her wherever he could find her.
According to him, he was impressed by Hanan’s simplicity as testified to by her decision to work as a photographer.
“It is not common for a president’s daughter to work as a photographer even in Europe”, he said.
Self-discovery
He would always talk about Hanan, telling his friends about her impressive character and how she dedicated herself to her profession despite her social status.
“I always discussed with friends, showing them her pictures. One day, one of my friends, Ahmad Faisal, just asked if I had been in love with this girl.
“Wallahi, I suddenly realised it was true, I really loved her”.
Determined to actualise his dream of marrying Hanan, the young man sought for the support of notable Fulani leaders for his lofty ambition and then travelled all the way from Yola to Abuja to try his luck at finding her.
He was confident Hanan, being simple and entrepreneurial, could be out there in one of the public or private events in the highbrow areas of Abuja doing what she liked best– taking pictures.
He could be lucky to meet her, per chance.
A matter of luck
During his adventure in the federal capital, the young man would gate-crash into venues of high-profile weddings and other events that attracted the wealthy and mighty in case Hanan was there taking pictures or sitting as a guest. He never found her.
He walked the streets of Abuja in search of his love.
Unfortunately, it did not work out that way, so he came up with another idea, the internet.
He quickly shot a video of himself expressing his love for Hanan and announcing the offer of 150 cattle as bride price if she agreed to marry him. He posted the video online.
“I was still exploring the social media option when I heard she had been engaged, so I had to give up.
“The next option would have been to go to her grandparents’ house in Yola and establish a connection with her through her relations.
“Now that she is getting married, I wish her happy married life and I am happy to donate fifty cattle for the wedding” he said quietly.
Abdullahi stayed in Abuja peeping into event centres and conference venues until the outbreak of Coronavirus forced him to return to Yola.
Confident and upbeat
He was confident and upbeat so he did not care to buy a new dress or appear flamboyant.
He just tried to be himself. All he wanted was to see Hanan face to face to tell her how much he loved her.
Even if she rejected him, his words would stick in her head and eventually settle in her heart.
“I would have expressed my love and then waited for her answer. I would not mind if she rejected me because sometimes love develops gradually.
“It was very important for me to meet her and disclose my feelings, even if she would gather people to beat me up.
“I could have convinced her to accept me. If you love someone, she may not respond immediately, she may come to develop interest in you afterwards.
“Buhari I know wouldn’t mind giving me his daughter provided she loves me because he is for the common man,” he stated.
The wife of the Deputy Governor of Edo State, Mrs. Maryann Shaibu, has threatened to flog any woman she sees associating with a group, which is suspected to be an affiliate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo, Igbere TV reports.
Mrs. Shaibu stated this in a video obtained by IGBERE TV during series of meeting with women at different parts of Edo North.

Landlord In Tears As Rent-Owing Tenant Destroys His House After Being Issued A Quit Notice (Video)
A landlord broke down in tears when he saw the state his previous tenant left his house in after he asked her to vacate his property, Igbere TV reports.
The landlord is heard sounding distressed as he goes around his house, inspecting the damage done to his property.
He is heard crying in deep agony as he says that he works hard to take care of his children only for his tenant to destroy his house.
He said he never gave the tenant any problems and didn't care about what she was doing in the house, as long as she kept his house in good condition, Igbere TV reports. However, because he asked her to pay the rent she owes, she destroyed his property.
The man expressed his anger in the video and said it will cost him so much to repair the damage done to the house. While still crying, he swore that he'll "kill" the former tenant if he sees her.
Separated Conjoined Twins Arrive Bayelsa, Get N1m From Deputy Gov, Ewhrudjakpo For Upkeep (Photo)
The sum of N1 million has been donated by the Bayelsa State Deputy Governor Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo for the upkeep of Grace and Mercy Ayebaiyeni, the seperated conjoined twins, Igbere TV reports.
While receiving them at the state’s airport yesterday, Bayelsa deputy governor disclosed that the N1m was his contribution to their upkeep pending a reception by Governor Duoye Diri.
Ewhrudjakpo said Grace and Mercy were the first to be successfully separated in Southsouth.
Ewhrudjakpo promised to cater for the upkeep and total education of Mercy, who shares a name with his mother and wife.
Speaking on the development, the Chief Medical Director of Federal Medical Centre (FMC) at Yenagoa, Dr Dennis Alagoa said the surgery was performed at FMC at Yola in Adamawa State.
He said paediatric surgeons and health experts from both centres collaborated to achieve the feat, while Nigerian Air Force provided logistics for travel.
“Grace and Mercy were delivered through Caesarean Section on December 12, 2019, at the General Hospital, Nembe, Bayelsa, and subsequently referred to us at the FMC in Yenagoa. The twins were successfully separated on August 10, 2020.
“They were cared for at the Special Baby Care Unit and they were joined at the stomach in the liver. We evaluated the situation and in the best interest of the babies opted to collaborate with FMC Yola where a successful surgery was conducted. Our surgeons and the lead surgeon at FMC in Yola carried out the task.
“…surgery lasted for less than three hours and recovery was fast and smooth. By the next day, they were already eating.
“We hail the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, for his intervention by providing the aircraft and logistics for medical evacuation of the babies, their parents and medical team.
“…surgery running into several millions was done free, in addition to the welfare of everyone involved in the process.”
Lead surgeon, Prof. Auwal Mohammed Abubakar stated that the twins shared one liver before they were separated.
Igbere TV reports that Chief Medical Director of Federal Medical Centre at Yola, Abubakar said Grace and Mercy did not share any other organ besides liver.
He said the nature of their joining made surgery easier, with the lesser time of three hours.
Prof. Abubakar has separated five conjoined twins – two at University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital and three at Federal Medical Centre in Yola.
The children’s mother, Ayebaekipreye Ebinyefa, thanked the hospitals for the surgery.
According to her, the successful operation saved her from being ridiculed and tagged a witch.
“While the operation lasted, I was scared and praying for its success. Before we went for the operation in Yola, I received insults and was tagged a witch. Some said the children came out conjoined because of my stubbornness and witchcraft.
“While the operation was on, I prayed fervently because I could not receive such wicked names and lose the children. I had faith in God and told Him to take control. I appreciate our benefactor, Gabriel Jonah. He was the God-sent used to save me from death because without his intervention during delivery, we would have been killed.
“He took us from Nembe to Yenagoa and eventually connected everyone involved with this surgery. In the last eight months, he has fed us and taken care of us…”
Video of soldiers of the Nigeria Army descending heavily on unemployed citizens who had gone to obtain forms of the Federal Government’s 1000 jobs per Local Government has surfaced online, Igbere TV reports.
The dehumanizing incident happened on Thursday at the Ibadan North Local Government Secretariat Agodi Area of the state.
Inside the 1-minute video, the dehumanized applicants can be seen scrambling helter-skelter to gain entrance into the office where they were to obtain the forms.
In the background, voice of a yet-to-be identified individual who probably filmed the incident could be heard lamenting the incident and also criticising the people for their impatience.

Presiding Bishop of the Living Faith Church Worldwide aka Winners’ Chapel David Oyedepo has given out his last daughter Joyce in marriage, Igbere TV reports.
Joyce, 28, wedded Abimbola Olaleye in a private wedding ceremony on Saturday at the church’s headquarters in Ota, Ogun State.
The traditional ceremony had held on Friday on the same day Oyedepo’s marriage clocked 38.
Igbere TV reports that Joyce is the last child out of four children born of Oyedepo and his wife Faith.
Nigeria will enforce the principle of reciprocity in granting permission to airlines to resume operations into the country as it opens its airspace, the Federal Government said on Thursday.
According to the government, what this means is that only airlines from countries that allow flights from Nigeria will be allowed to fly into and out of Nigeria.
It specifically stated that airlines from the European Union would not be allowed into Nigeria as the EU had recently banned flights and visitors from Nigeria.
On July 2, 2020, The PUNCH reported that the Council of the European Union had opened its borders to 15 countries, excluding Nigeria.
According to information obtained from the EU website at the time, Nigeria was still not a part of the countries from where visitors were allowed into Europe.
Speaking at Thursday’s briefing of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, said Nigeria’s position was informed by the ban placed by some countries on flights from Nigeria.
The minister, who was represented by the Director-General, Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Capt. Musa Nuhu, argued that the decision was taken in the interest of Nigerians.
He said, “On the list of countries (that are banned), we are working on the comprehensive list, but the main one that came up is when the EU opened their borders effective 1st July, Nigeria was among the list of 54 countries that were not allowed to enter the EU.
“To my understanding, as the situation changes, they are going to look at the list and change it. But so far, we don’t have any contrary information to that first one that Nigeria is banned from going to the EU.
“So, as we open our airspace, we are going to apply the issue of reciprocity to those (EU) countries.”
Sirika also stated that airlines would be informed on arrangements that had been put in place to ensure that the resumption of flights were hitch-free.
He stated that for now, only a few flights per day would be permitted, adding that they would operate as test runs of the protocols put in place to ensure the safe return to international operations.
The protocols, according to him, would be made public in due course.
Sirika also stated that inbound international passengers would be limited to 1,280.
He said only this number would be allowed to fly into the Lagos and Abuja airports once international flights resume on August 29, 2020.

He was being sworn in as the majority leader, and said he would like to present the four wives to the lawmakers.
