Nollywood actress Stella Damasus has celebrated her daughter Izzy Belle on her 22nd birthday, revealing that she gave birth to her when she was 21 years old, Igbere TV reports. A story of how a fresh law graduate spent five years at a private university with her father as classmate has caught the attention of many on social media, Igbere TV reports. Chioma Jane shared her story on Twitter, saying that although there were times it felt weird, she was grateful for all her father did. According to her, anytime her father was asked a question in class, he would, first of all, introduce her as his daughter. Jane tweeted, “Then I became the girl whose dad was in her class. This man would leave work and come to class every day. If I’m a minute late, I’m in trouble. He saw my results before me, he pays my fees first before his. Senator Shehu Sani on Thursday backed Senate minority leader Enyinnaya Abaribe over a shirt the latter wore recently in public which read ‘The Dot Nation’, Igbere TV reports. Abaribe’s T-shirt has continued to raise dust since he wore it to his office at the National Assembly earlier in the week. Sani’s reaction followed a scathing remark by an official of Lagos State Government Joe Igbokwe. Mr Igbokwe had in a Facebook post on Tuesday called Abaribe an “ethnic bigot” over the shirt. Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai on Sunday tweeted despite an order by the attorney-general of the federation Abubakar Malami for Nigerians still using Twitter despite its suspension to be Prosecuted, Igbere TV reports. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called for an end to the abduction of students following the killing of two more students of Greenfield University, Kaduna who were among about 20 abducted on April 20, Igbere TV reports. The abductors have now killed five of the students, keeping others in hostage amid request for N800 million ransom for their freedom. Atiku’s statement also followed the abduction of three students of the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Benue State on Monday. The nation’s former number two citizen in a statement obtained by Igbere TV on Tuesday called for definite action on the spate of insecurity in Nigeria. “The abduction of yet an unspecific number of undergraduates of the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Benue State, is one abduction too many. A Nigerian couple Babsola Kuti and Lola Fafowora have remarried after severing ties for about a decade, Igbere TV reports. The duo first got married in London on April 8, 1996. They have three children — a boy and two girls — now aged 24, 19 and 16 respectively. Kuti and Fafowora met about 32 years ago in Lagos. After a year of getting to know each other, they began dating on Kuti’s 20th birthday in 1990. Following separation and divorce, the couple eventually reconciled in 2017 and renewed their vows on April 8, 2021, about 25 years after they first got married. Their children witnessed the ceremony while some family members also joined on Zoom due to COVID-19 restrictions. It was learnt that the couple’s best man Folarin Agbede and bridesmaid Kemi Kalejaiye-Mason at their first wedding in 1996 also witnessed the reunion. “I feel grateful to see God’s grace. It was all topsy-turvy, but I believed someone up there was fighting for our love,” said Fafowora. A Nigerian youth, Paul Ife Walks has reportedly welcomed a baby boy named Reno after former aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, Igbere TV reports. Senator Shehu Sani has called on the authorities to focus on rescuing abducted students in the north instead of attempting to arrest activist Sunday Adeyemo alias Sunday Igboho, Igbere TV reports. The activist who has been at the forefront of the fight against killer herdsmen in the south-west region was accosted by security forces on Ibadan/Lagos Expressway on Friday on his way to see Afenifere leader Ayo Adebanjo in Lagos. Sunday Igboho’s supporters foiled the arrest. Teenager Omar Farouq who was acquitted after being sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by a Sharia Court in Kano for blasphemy has left Nigeria, Igbere TV reports. Farouq was facing further threats to his life from some extremists in Kano, Poland’s Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum said on its website. Farouq was in 2020 handed the sentence after being accused of using foul language considered to be blasphemous toward Allah in a chat with his friend while he was 13 years old. The teenager was cleared of the charges in January after Lagos-based rights lawyer Kola Alapini appealed the judgement. Director of the museum Piotr Cywinski had also appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to pardon Farouq. The governors reached this conclusion during an emergency meeting on Monday held virtually to discuss issues affecting the region and the nation in general. In a tweet on Tuesday, Mr Peterside said the governors’ admission was “better late than never”. “Kudos to the Northern Governors for calling a spade a spade; the 2014 National Conference (where I was a Delegate) came to this same conclusion that open grazing was no longer sustainable in 21st Century Nigeria.
