My wife and son's application was approved this morning. Should they submit their passport to vfs directly or courier to ghana? As my wife is in akurr.

Timeline
May30 online application submitted
Biometric 1st week in June not sure of the exact date
Sept 25 medical passed and my son's birth certificate requested
Oct 23 passport request

Update :Submitted in ABUJA VFS, July 14; got feedback Sept 27.

CIC denied my wife's application yesterday. They stated 1. purpose of visit and 2. Personal Assets/Financial Status.

While I'm not particularly sure why they marked those, I fear they might have arrived at that decision following 2 things.

1. My wife's level of education. Her NCE result is awaited, so we only used her O'level and Skill, she's into Catering and Events.
2. No account statement for her - she is paid in cash and there was no way to relate her account statement to her job.

However, I included my 3 different landed property documents, Statement of N12.775m (GTB), and $35,600CAD from CIBC here in Canada. My GTB has monthly inflow of at least N4m and this is consistent. I used same account to apply for my study visa in 2016.

I was pretty sure that funding was not our problem, but not sure why they considered my wife as a 'single' individual (her 'personal' finances).

My Problem

I was never interested in my wife coming here to work, I just want her to be with me. She is pregnant for the first time and I have no one to take care of her should there be complications during her delivery - due January.

I am wondering if she will be approved for a visiting visa if I file immediately, considering that she just got denied SOWP.

Any advise guys?

If I get you right sir, are you saying the spouse should get a 'Bachelor's apartment' before submitting the SOWP application?

And kindly assist me on this, my spouse has not done her change of name before filing in her application in January as all her credentials carry her maiden name. Is it okay she does the change of name thing and I add it to my application? If yes, how does she update cic and her school?

All you need to apply is her study permit, marriage certificate and a proof that she is a student in Canada. Proof of fund is just an advantage, it's not a main concern, let your company say in a reference letter that they will take you back whenever you return, a job offer in Nigeria is kind of a tie.

You can always apply to change the conditions of your stay in Canada and if you want to apply for a study permit then you will need proof of fund.

He never said common law though! Being 'engaged' is not a relationship status in Canada without any LEGAL paper.

Besides, to qualify for common law is not just about living together. Paper work is needed as proof.

Hello powerful gurus, I have been a silent follower on this thread. I need your advice, my wife's study permit application has just been approved to study at Western on scholarship, however I'm considering applying for SOWP but confused on when to file in my application.

Can I file in my documents or wait until she gets to Canada before submitting my SOWP application?

When you say you indicated on your online application that you were engaged, i'm not really sure what option you chose as your marital status.

Anyways, if you got married before your study permit was approved (while your application was still in process), please let IRCC know before you leave Nigeria.

If after approval you got married, also let them know before you leave Nigeria.

Well in my opinion it's almost impossible and it also depends on hw much ur fees. In uottawa where d fees is abou 8500 per term, doing minimum wage job or slightly more than minimum wage jobs at 20 hrs per wk will barely cover your cost of living per month. That is if you even get get up to 20 hrs. This is the reality. What alot of guyz do here is to go on break during d summer and work full time for about 4 months, dats when u can raise something tangible.

I am in Saskatchewan. It is possible but it would take its toll on you. If your program allows you to work full-time during summers (and you're lucky enough to get summer jobs) and you cut down on expenses you can do it but trust me... It is difficult than it seems although not impossible.
