Hi everyone here, I just got approved for a study visa at uofg, I was only engaged when I was filling my online application and I filled it as such, just early last year, I got married, gurus in the house, is there any way I can update my new marital status now that I've been approved?

You've already been approved. I guess if u want your spouse to apply it will den reflect in their application. But it will do alot of good if your status was commo law relationship when u applied. At least that's what i did while i was engaged during my application for a study permit, and in also got married before my approval for study came. I am currently in Canada and currently working on SOWP for my wife which was my common law partner during my applcation

SOWP is just a type of Open Work Permit and not a different, specific application form called SOWP. To apply for your spouse, your status in Canada is needed (Student or Worker?) majorly. As such, they want a proof of your status in Canada. If you are a student, you only need to provide your study permit but if you are a work, you need to provide your work permit and documents proving that you meet the requirements of the job (you are doing in Canada) in NOC O, A or B.

As per funds, there is no specified amount on the CIC website but people usually use their discretion. However, if you are a worker in Canada, you could provide your previous (3 or more) payslips. That is what i did and required by CIC for workers.

Does CIC require a certain amount of funds for the SOWP? is the form for Open work permit different from that of SOWP? I am asking because i saw somewhere they were asking for proof that you meet the requirements of the job? i just want to be sure i am on the right page

Basically, the most important document is your spouse permit in Canada (Study permit or Post Graduate Work Permit). As in PGWP, they require your spouse to have a job in NOC Level O, A or B to qualify.

Other required documents are your international passport, photograph and IMM form.

You would need to provide a LOE where you could include your spouse issued permit (Study or Work), your marriage certificate, wedding pictures etc to prove your relationship.

I wasn't a very regular commenter on this thread, but i must confess that this thread wasnof great help throughout my application from admission -delay amd eventually approval. Thanks to everyone. I arrived kn canada about 4 days ago, through Montreal airport. The only thing the entry clearance officer demanded from me was the accompanying letter that comes with the visa approval and the school i was going to.
No proof of payment or offer/acceptance letter was demanded.
In the process of TRV i'd say pray for a miracle like u did am application that is trash and at thesame time package your application as if your life depends on it. It's more a thing of grace and preparation.

I haven't been to PoE yet ooo... But the key things you will need are your Correspondence (approval) letter, international passport, admission letter.... Others may include SoA and any docs as may be required in satisfying unconditional offer of admission.
Have you made travel plans yet?.... If not let me know... may be of help.

Meanwhile i tracked my application on vfs website , and it says mu passport is ready for pickup. I am currently out of lagos, i will like to call them, but the number on the website doesn't connect and i get a feedback saying the number is not assigned. Has anyone experienced this?

I applied as a Single in a common law relationship i guess that was also used as my home tie. But during my wait period i got married.

The only difference between d two set of documents was a co- sponsor, transfer of 1yr accommodation and tuition to my account and a more detailed Letter from my primary sponsor.
This platform was really helpful. From securing admission to process of deferral of admission and eventually getting my TRV. Thanks to all.

Yes.. infact if they csn detail it and break ir down to how much they can support you per term or quarterly..

I got a co-sponsor, dat swore an affidavit of support to the tune of 5m, 2.5 m per year. Then my primary sponsor transfer 5m to my account to cover my first tuition and one year accommodation. Then my primary sponsor also swore an affidavit dat she wikk b providing funding for my subsequent semesters from the uk $8k every quatre. After transferring 5m to my account she still had 17m balance. Then i wrote loe dat i plan on completing my masters in 4semesters and backed it up with facts from uottawa's website that its possible to complete it in less dan 2 yrs. I also submitted international soa of my primary sponsor and her six month pay slip averaging £12k per month.
Finally na God get power, I've done d best i can. Na God hand e come dey nw for favour.

It varies. They need to get all your docs before dey start reviewing. I think 8 working wks from when dey update in your profile dat all your documents has been received.

. I just got admission to the university of ottawa for the January 2017 session.

I need to reapply for visa on or before Oct 17. That would leave me with exactly 11 weeks before class resumes on January 9. Do some of these schools allow late resumption at all? How long do they allow?

2. I have 10 courses to register for my civil engineering Meng program. A friend advised that I can complete these 10 courses in 3 semesters but I don't have an idea how complex these courses are. It would be nice if I can do them in just 3 semesters so that I have few semesters to pay for. Now,when preparing my finances for studies,do I let the visa officer know that I will finish in just 3 semesters? Won't this affect the no of years he would give me on my visa?

This ottawa issue, it's stated in their admission letter that a master's is usually completed in 2 years and you will need apprx 37k a year. Nw i assume the visa officer will multiply that amount by 2, and start ticking insufficient funds ( i think dats what played in my previous app) However from d schools website you can comple your program in 3 or 4 semesters if you wish to. So u need to find a way for explaining dat to the VO, if you don't have 74k. Can we chat privately cos in also going to uottawa in Jan, M.eng Mechanical, lets share ideas. I applied online on Sunday and did biometrics yday, i was delayed before, but due to this time wahala of GCMS notes and 16wks wait time. I jusy tackled my reason of delayed and applied like that

On the contrary, it's got everything to do with where it is being processed. GHAN... application numbers are sent to Ghana.

I disagree with you. In my previous online application dat was delayed my tracking number started with calastu, d delay letter was issued from Ghana
