You can get the bank draft from a Nigerian bank, like GTB if you've a USD domiciliary account and courier it to CPA Canada. Another option is to get someone in Canada to pay for you or use vpn to change your location to Canada and make payment. tosluv1: Good day people. I'm currently doing my ACCA CPA conversion, and I need to pay for the tax and law course. The process requires that I use international bank draft for payment. People that have gone through this process, pls how did you do it? Pls note I'm in Nigeria. |

Yea, it's quite high and I wasn't really pleased with it, but I think it's an anti money laundering thing. Using a cheque or bank draft might be a cheaper option. GonFreecss1: The reason why dislike the way Stanbic is handling it is if you transferred 1K USD for instance, those charges are equal to and if not more than the annual yield on 1K USD. That doesn't seem fair to me. |
Investment › Re: Mutual Funds by IamtrulyBlessed: 11:44pm On Mar 08, 2019 |
It's a charge on USD funds transfer. Guess it's more like the NEFT charge on NGN transactions. freeman67: OK.. But What's the Telex charge for again? |
Investment › Re: Mutual Funds by IamtrulyBlessed: 9:57pm On Mar 08, 2019 |
Stanbic doesn't accept cash deposit into the Dollar account. However, you might consider issuing a cheque or transferring to the account. Except for telex charge of 6k, the transfer charge might not be materially different from the charge on USD withdrawal from domiciliary account. freeman67: No, not really I just want to diversify my investment because you never can tell which one will stand strong when there is need.
About the transfer charge for Stanbic, I just collected their form waiting for the redemption from Investment-One. However, when I was about to go into VDF the transfer charge looks big then too. I was just advised by a banker to deposit the cash into their account instead of transfer.
Though stanbic gave me an account no without telling me the mode of payment but with this your observation now, when my money is ready I will confirm and if it is only by transfer I will consider United Capital too as you said because even with their SIMMF and SGIF you can't deposit money straight. |

I don't think there is need for that until you get ADR for POF.. I reinvested my NTB after AOR and I didn't get any ADR. pejuhazel: Hello everyone, I'm two months post AOR, my POF was in a fixed deposit which matured yesterday. I've asked the bank to roll it over. I would like to know if I have to update my application with the new fixed deposit certificate or no need? |

You might consider attaching a few pages of your salary account bank statement to the LOE. Tayodudu: Hi all,
Pls, I have a few questions.
First, one of my job experiences which i got points for clashes with my full-time master's program. I got the full-time job as an Editor when i was writing my dissertation. My dissertation i did via emails, and occasional meetings with my supervisor during weekends and public holidays. How would i need to explain this to CIC?
Second, i moved some monies from my salary account to my POF account (650k but in trenches not higher than 150k all in a day). Though this doesn't count towards my POF as i got that in gift deed. Would this raise any questions? |

If the total cost of the round trip is 320k, I'll suggest you add $300 to it and compare with the cost of booking a return ticket (255k + return ticket) before cancellation/upgrade. The cost of upgrade is $200 and the quotation they'll give you from their system will definitely be higher than what you'll find online. MissEmmy: Thanks for your reply. I actually want to upgrade my ticket from a one way ticket to a roundtrip ticket. Currently the roundtrip cost 165k on their app while I paid 255k for a one way ticket. I'm wondering if i'll be refunded the balance of cash paid when I upgrade to roundtrip. However I'll try sending a mail as you have advised. Cheers. |

Cancellation of economy flight ticket should cost about $300, while rescheduling is $200. You would have to send email requesting for cancellation and payment of refund into your bank account. You should receive your balance within 5 business days. MissEmmy: Happy new year to house. Please has anyone ever cancelled a ticket with Ethiopian airline successfully? Can you share your experience please. |

GT Bank would gladly raise a bankers cheque for you in CAD, if you have a domiciliary account with them. You might consider approaching a friend to request for you if you don't dom account with them. I'll suggest you request for it online because some customer service officers might not be aware of the service. raphrulz: When I booked for it on CPA website... they told me that before they commence with my order, I have to mail their treasury or so. I sent a mail... and was told that I can pay by raising an International bank draft. From what I have gathered, several banks have refused to do this. So I have been wondering what alternative approaches other people used. |

This one tie wrapper o. A notarized reference letter from a Supervisor would've saved this family. Newmum0615: So, I heard the most bizarre post-PPR rejection story this week.
Someone who works in a bank applied for himself and family and instead of using his bank job as work experience, he stated that he was self-employed and proceeded to apply with docs to show that he is a self-employed consultant or something like that. Everything was moving smoothly, he got PPR and then the worst happened when his and dependent's passports was returned by VFS without COPR or visa. Next, he got a notice of rejection. Apparently, they found out about his bank job and that he lied about the fact that he was still employed by the bank. Reason he gave for not using his bank job to claim points was that he didn't want to ask his HR for letter. He actually has a side hustle that pays but he wanted to use that rather than use his job to claim points.
So guys, for some of us who are always reluctant to ask for reference letters because of the preconceived notion that our employers might either not agree to sign or become hostile once they learn of our plans, please be warned. There is no harm in trying. Always play on the side of caution. I can't even begin to imagine if this guy has gone ahead to announce PPR to friends and family or even bought flight tickets etc.
Stay woke guys. Stay woke. |

I don't think that would be an issue. Mine was quite similar and VO's review came out clean. I would suggest you do whatever will make you sleep without worrying about VO and don't forget to add enough evidence to the reference letters. boundlessjoy: Hey guys, so I want to submit my application this weekend but there’s something giving me a little concern.
I’ve got 2 references from 2 employers, but because I gave them the format for the letters, both letters now look alike. They are not identical (of course that’s impossible) but it’s basically similar.
It’s funny to me because if I were a VO, I would probably wonder why two employers in 2 different countries will write in similar style for the same person.
Should I be worried? |

Thanks for the detailed explanation. I should be paying for Oct to March. vascey: I was charged 750 CAD (excluding HST). Consisted on 450 Registration Dues and 300 prorated membership dues split between CPA Canada (189) and CPA BC (111). Financial year starts from April to March so I paid for Sept to March. Paid with normal Zenith Debit mastercard. Exch rate - 291.4 NGN = 1 CAD today |
