bilms: Desperation to travel abroad is killing us By: Mr Rights
In 2008, i helped a friend through the process of obtaining U.S visa. He got it very easily. At the time, i was a travel consultant. Before securing the visa, my friend and other friends often say U.S visa is very expensive to get, but I decided to prove them wrong. Apart from visa fee, bank statement, hotel reservation and evidence of his source of livelihood, he didn’t spend one naira on any other thing. I later learn that someone had duped his older brother of about N1.5 million for the same purpose. For some years, I worked as a travel consultant. I helped people through the process of securing visa in different countries. Understanding the process makes everything easy. You don’t need millions to secure visa to any country. If you are qualified and have necessary documents, all you need is a visa fee not more than 50k, depending on the type of visa. Whenever I hear that someone paid millions to an agent to get visa for them, I wonder if the agent is the consular officer. Those who ask people to bring those huge amounts of money are merely feasting from public gullibility. If you are not qualified, you won't get the visa, no matter how much you spend. If you get the visa, trust me, its not because of the money spent. I have seen wives of governors denied visa at the embassy before. Getting visa has nothing to do with money. If you will get it, you will, if you won’t, you won't. Just understand the process or get a consultant to help you through. However, I often discourage people from traveling abroad for permanent relocation. Particularly those desperately going for hustle,I try to give them information they never had about their destination. I once had a girlfriend whose life dream is to live abroad. She is an interesting case study because there is nothing you can say to change her mind. She eventually achieved her aim. Though i don't know how she is doing now. Sometimes past, one of my friends in Ilorin was duped of over N800k. He paid that money to an agent who promised to get him Spanish visa. Before he made this payment, I discouraged him from traveling abroad. I told him to use the money set up business here in Nigeria and he said he would. But he never did. After many months, I saw him again. Probably he has forgotten we discussed the matter long ago, so he told me how he was duped of 800k. I shake my head in disbelieve. Desperation makes you foolish. Even when you can see no light at the end of the tunnel, you give yourself false hope. Blind hope actually. No, its even dead hope. Many had ended up in red sea due to this dead hope. May their soul rest in Peace. Life abroad is not what many people think. I have several people who returned home after seeing the reality abroad. A friend from Abuja had gone to study in U.K, hoping to remain there after school, he came back home and narrated the story. A U.S green card holder now resides in my area in Ilorin, he never wanted to go back to U.S, except on visit. His wife, friends and family almost disowned him for returning, because he never told them he was coming home full time. After the pressure from is wife became so unbearable, he told her, madam, i can help you facilitate your own travel to U.S if you want. For me, am done. Traveling abroad doesn’t amount to going to heaven. It doesn’t worth the huge investment, both emotional and financial. Some people sold everything they had just to raise traveling fare. Some even sold their fathers houses. But the sad truth is that, out of every 100 person who travels abroad, hardly do 5 make it big legitimately. The rest are struggling. Please, don't get me wrong. I am not saying you shouldn’t travel if you want to, but please, if you have to travel abroad, do it legitimately and most importantly, understand the situation of where you are going properly to decide whether it worth leaving everything behind.

Deban: My advice, there is nothing like home. Home is where you make it, but you have to be rugged, determined, smart to hit the ground and running.
A lot of people do not fulfill there potentials abroad until they finally come home. In the US or Europe, you don't get close to those in government because you don't know them. there are procurement jobs or contracts by the US or European government. The people in government patronise companies of people they already know, being childhood friends, neighbours, school mates. Now, not being born Americans or Europeans mean you will be a stranger and outsider to this opportunities. You can't really fulfill your potentials. In the end, you end up working forever in US or Europe and live from hand to mouth. In Nigeria, you will have opportunities to own and grow your company and have your childhood friends, school mates in authority patronise you with contract or procurement job or whatever field of specialization. You can actually be employer of labour in Nigeria. Most owners of the new generation banks were trained in US or Europe.
I lived in the Western world for over 13 years, with Masters degree from there. Naturalised and kids. but I struggled from hand to mouth. I worked in the financial industry. I tried coming back several times but left out of frustration. But I know I want to live well and rule my world than live where the time determines what I do, wake, work, gym, watch TV and sleep, only to wake up and repeat same activity the next day, seeing less educated white boys boss me. I know I did not want to see white boys bidding and getting contracts from the borough while I struggle to bid and win after I registered my company. During President Jonathan's era, many US and Europe based flooded Nigeria. I seized the opportunity. I registered a company in Nigeria and started networking and winning contracts. Invested in transport with my buses plying Lagos, Abuja, PH. Expanded my fleet during Jonathan's era because profit was good. Recession has made it difficult making profit but still hanging on. Can actually train my kids in the West from proceeds I make from Nigeria. Can drive Range Rover, Toyota High Lander, Chrysler 300, Sienna paid cash in Nigeria and not mortgage as we so in the western world. I can buy land and build easily with profit from a business in Nigeria. You have to network and work hard. I finally caught up with my friends who stayed back in Nigeria after we left school while I wet overseas. While I was in abroad, they were doing better financially and visited me and I cursed myself for ever migrating. But with determination, I left the circle of work, eat, watch TV, sleep, came down to Nigeria and improved financially, happier, livelier, more comfortable. When things became better, went back and gave out most valuables I had. I can not see myself going back to live permanently overseas again. My very closed relatives who migrated to US in the 70s and with several degrees do not have the cash I have since I came to hustle in Nigeria. Dangote could be the richest African because he is based in Nigeria. He would not have been if he migrated to US or Europe. There is opportunity in Nigeria, but leave your options open to go back if it does not work well in Nigeria. Target a business where you will have 180m Nigerians patronising you. The population is a huge market. Agriculture/farming is lucrative. Eatery or Supermarket can be lucrative too. I know a girl friend who left the US to Nigeria and went into fish farming about the year 1999. By when I came in 2012, she was making a lot of money from it and regretted not coming back from US much earlier. There is nothing like home where opportunities are many, but prepare your mind to deal with security issues, rowdiness, unruly traffic and drivers, bad road, corrupt police, power failure. Your determination to succeed will see you through in Nigeria.
it is fun living in Nigeria. Please Sir, can I have your email address. I need personal advise from you. Please assist me with your knowledge, many many thanks. |

alexialin: Lol ,he's a joker.
Don't mind him, he thinks Nigeria is a child's play.
And you are right, other peeps who thinks like him, should also understand the reality here.
It's crazy.
One must be as wise as a fox and mild like a dove, to be able to survive here.
My neighbor came from US, to relocate back to nija. Initially it was fun for him, until he couldn't take it anymore. Most times when I walk down the street heading back home, I sight him smoking his lungs out like a chimney, with whisky in one hand. Every blessed day
One day I heared him talking to another neighbor as he was smoking that he's tired of this gaddamed country and he's running broke, he wants to sell his building and get the fucvk out of here. He can't take it anymore and how much will my 2nd neighbor buy his building of four flats, spacious o. At the end, I heard he sold the four blocks of flat for N15million inside illupeju.
I was like WTF!
The guy received his alert, called all the tenants in the other flats that he had sold everything and hes getting out of here. He can't take it anymore. Lol That's how he left. He even dashed his furnitures, TV and all, to the buyer. And left. The new landlord, gave everyone quit notice and the end.. He's not back till date. Nija is fucvked up.
Another one came. From UK, he built a massive house in ikorodu. He like bragging he has money and he loves spending on his friends, that's how thieves came one faithful day he came back from abroad trips. Cause he loves travelling to and fro every 3months.
So a close family friend gave a tip off to thieves, the day he arrived nija as usual.
Come and see beating, and later took his 10000pounds ,they ran away and left him bloodied. My dear, when he reported the case to police. Police caught one of the thieves. That one then confessed it was his family friend wife! A high profile family in the society !
He was so disappointed. He couldn't get his money back. They shared it amongst themselves and the other thieves yet to be caught. Police advised him to let go of the matter Orelse if he pursue the case and place the wife of his friend in jail with the thief they caught, his life will be in extreme danger. He won't even live to judge the case in court.
That's how he left Nigeria angrily and sever ties with people here. Vowing never tk come back.
It's that bad! See story! You will end up in Libya if care is not taken. |

Billyonaire: Every supporters of Buhari are now manufacturing excuses for their ancient stupidity. Billyonaire's principle is known. Any candidate I support whether he wins election or not, has always been the best option available on the ballot.
I supported Jonathan and now I am supporting Atiku. Those who are interested in the future need to support those who have a future, and not some relic of the past who regurgitate memory of bestial history as a panacea for tomorrow's evolution.
Tomorrow is a product of today's imagination.
I see real changes.
Let's Atikulate our future and Buharize our past. Dey there dey deceive yaself. Buhari will win again. As a billionaire (in your ipork dream) you should know, no pain no gain and much about putting off gratification. Buhari is setting up the agenda for the future. |

tosyne2much: I think ignorance is worst.
Reason being that laziness can easily be cured but not ignorance. Ignorance goes along with stupidity A lazy person might crawl out of that shell of laziness when hunger and hardship hit him hard. Ignorance can bring public disgrace unlike laziness. Ignorance will claim your own life while laziness might not. Ignorance is when a person is ill but refuses to seek medical attention because a pastor told him it's ungodly.
People who are ignorance are usually awkward and backward minded. They are people that you cannot boast about because they will always disgrace you. When they make contribution in class or public places, you begin to wonder why their senses are not working properly.

Billyonaire: Dear Political Slave,
The poor are under attack 'nationally', yet war has not been declared on poverty.
I do not know what stirs your emotional support for the thieving politicians and religious leaders, but what ever it is, whether you are 'eating' from them, or 'drinking' from them, there will come a time, you will be ashamed that you could not understand that the poor had no options, which is why they even engaged in this useless keke napep businesses while their 'elites' enjoy in glass houses.
I am wealthy, and I stay close to the grass root so I can understand the pulse of the masses, YET some of you, who have no billion in your name are so supportive of the rich thieves while attacking me for defending our people.
I am not a tribalist, I am not religious, and I am not a nationalist. So, I have nothing to gain, except to air my views and hoping that someone will begin to use his brains and understand that the poor that we so much hate, for 'defiling' our roads, are not actually happy riding these dangerous tricycles, but they have no choice.
One day, the poor will have nothing to eat, but the rich. But I pray hard that such time should never come.
Ride on, dear zombie Ikenna, you are doing great in your duties. Shut up there, idi*t |
