Kai - where was the holy spirit or spirits when all these stealing were going on? You see in Nigeria, almost every individual suffers from a kind of delusion of grandeur. Just look around you - the pretence, the fake life, the unnecessary waste of money and resources in the name of being "class", building humongous worthless empty mansions, driving cars that are seriously uneconomical and logic defying. Leaders and officials travelling every second on unwarranted first class flights around the world (london to lagos offers first class at £8000 return - madness for a 6 hour journey to a wretched country and people). Unneccesary stupid stuff. A one-room dweller throwing owambe type of party when he runs into a useful little amount of money. Hungry men and women parading the streets with unneccesarily expensive mobile phones etc etc. clad in the best TM Lewins. Stupid people who are we deceiving? Ourselves!!! This is the mindset that creates our so called leaders. People trooping to silly useless churches - worshiping a dead God forgeting as well that they are already in HELL - cause thats what Nigeria is. |
How exactly did "God" made a person a chartered accountant? or the manager of this or that place? I have never heard such stupid sentiments expressed by my European/American/Asian colleagues! Those things manifest from hardwork and merits. My friend told me God is great because he got a visitors visa to the UK. Now what has God to do with visa afterall he created a borderless free plains (i.e. the world) This is all man made. It s a great time to be a pastor!!! it appears there are millions of muguns to get rich from. |
I dont worship "God" and I most certainly dont praise "God". How do you explain the fact that claims made here by the worshipping Nigerians are true for billions of other non-worshipping people around the world. What has "God" done for you in Nigeria or whereever you are that has not happened for others like a non-worshipper like myself? This "God" thing is really depressing me cause my people just cannot see and look reality in the eyes. "God" is doing nothing for nobody. The "God" we worship and spend so much of our time and resources pursing , just may not exist. Our reality is so much at odds with our fantasy believes about "God". You are going through the most horror and yet you are going around shouting you are 'blessed' 'your cuppeth runneth over' - yet your wife and children are starving at home. Wake up from your slumber. and stop sedating your selves with this 'oh jesus christ bullshit'. Our uppermost and urgent duty in Nigeria is to find a way - including unfortunately violence - to change the governing system and culture that is consigning the majority of our people into life of endless wretchedness and multiple suffering. I told you so. Nigerians please wake up!!!! |
Nigerian!!!!! with their big empty trousers!!!! How many of the respondent here can produce that same N50K!!!!! Asu-asu!!!! Most Nigerians are idiots who brag so much about what they havent got. The other day a fella begs for N10K, I said that s too much which he replied N10K is nothing. Well then why are you begging and desperate for Nothing? Bobo, take the money and go do whatever you like with it. And before you start running your mouth Nairalanders, I am a millionaire many times over and I worked for every kobo. |
The whistleblower should be damned and boomed. he/she is not fighting a moral cause but evidently bitter and seriously twisted. Lets have his/her name published as well |
Both the sponsor and respondents here bemuse me greatly. whichever way you look at it, the Nigerian people deserve the government and governance they have because they ACCEPT it. I love Nigeria for sentimental reasons and the UK for economic protection and safety. But if you are earning pittance here in the UK, and permanently in a low level without personal development (care arse cleaning job) and turning out children like roaches in your council flat or overcrowded and overshared flat, you might as well call it quit and head back home. |
They lent out more than their 1.whatever Trillion capital and now those loans are non-performing. What a country, what a people |
Our yeye people - when will they ever stand up and fight? Too busy waiting for Jesus!!! I suppose. Nigerians deserve our wretchedness and suffering. Why spend years blaiming the oppressors (who for the last 20-30 years are less than 10,000 in number) when the wretched and impoverished masses (over 140 million!!!!!!!) stand idly by looking at their future and lives ruined beyond reason. Fela said it all. Let Tinubu be - abi be ko? |
Nigerian people! Bunch of bloody cowards and muguns!!! Pity sufferheads - wont do anything about it. Yeye people. |
Allowance! Bad Idea!!!! Especially with the "entitled type" (one with the prized possession) - Very bad idea. Give her what you have whenever you wish but do help when she is genuinely in need. |
One thing has always worked for me - over the years and cuts across race, nationality, ethnicity, religion and what not. Chase and do all the exciting stuff if you want but most importantly DONT GIVE A DAMN!!! Dont ever let her think she's got one on you. Dont fall in love too soon and dont tell her even if. A bit of show-off cash helps but keep it very far from the greedy, gold digging ones. Cash will get you laid but will not get you the babe (got my drift?) Be intriguing, be different, be CONFIDENT even if you are poor, jobless or whatever else you label yourself. Tell her you love her and start showing some silly emotions - that just turns them right OFF! BE BRAVE, BE YOURSELF - she would bring her Ikoyi dollars to your Mushin apartment and you will be loved up for real. Try it!!!! |
I am conducting a research into the root of our on-going, unceasing economic and political problems. There are times when I blame the 'leaders' and times when I blame the people. Our 'leaders' come from our people and they express and manifest the mentality and backwardness of our people. Please I need all the help I can get from articulate, thoroughly thoughtful, aware and matured Nigerian - from any walk of life and location but preferably those who are resident in Nigeria. |
E no finish, e no finish, e no finish, ojoro - Fela Anikulapo Kuti Yeye Nigerian people, cowards, wretched Muguns. Keep suffering and just maybe your Jesus Christ will come and safe you someday. Useless sufferheads. Since 1970s we (100+ millions of people) constinuously raped, pillaged and humiliated by oppressors who hardly number more than 3000 at any one time. No wonder 85% of the Nigerian income is enjoyed and controlled by less than 3,000 people and the remaining 15% left for the hunger striken millions to fight over. I beg lets hear word jare. Last time I visited Bar Beach I saw hoodlums charging gullible and stupid Nigerians dollars, sterlings and lots of Naira to visit what is so clearly a designated public place. I objected and was left alone. I am sick and tired of blaming the oppressors, Now lets put the searchlight on our mugun and docile people. This very issue will die down in a few weeks time and the masses will continue with their wretched existence. |
What do you call 'innocent bystanders' congregating around or about a leaking gazoline pipeline - well SUYA like one of the contributors called them. Most pipelines are long term infrastructure like bridges and are made to last 60 - 100 years without the need for constant maintenance. Nigeria is the only country in the world where we have repeatedly experienced burst pipelines of this nature due SOLELY to vandalism. I lived at Ejigbo - well known for depots and network of NNPC pipelines. Believe me I know what I am talking about. I have no sympathy for both the vandalists and the moronic bystanders. If this was the case of a petrol tanker falling over on the road and killing innocent people in the process then we have a true by-stander situation and the government would get my blame. Georgecso, We all know our roads are bad and hazardous - that is something we are all aware of. For our own safety and that of other road users it is incombent on each of us to drive carefully which includes slowing down and driving at a speed appropriate to the condition of our roads. But No way Not Nigerian. Look we the people are really the problem with Nigeria but of course government officials and politicians are the usual easy skapegoats. |
georgecso Where in the UK are the Nigerian prostitutes please George? Facts or 'themsay'? Wow!! I have found most of your statements to be inaccurate, generic and frankly not credible. Most of the accidents I have seen and those I have heard of are caused mostly by reckless driving - not so much the bad roads. Until we Nigerians use faculty to disect our problems rather than pent up emotions, accrued frustration, over generalisation (via poverty, corruption, bad government etc) and pre-judgement we would never begin to identify our problems. We have to many bad people in Nigeria and that includes you and me. |
Kai!!! it must be hard going living in a poor country like Nigeria. Coping with all that poverty induced mentality. Why do most Nigerian girls upon seeing, meeting or just running into a man they know on the street, they suddenly get hungry? Did I once hear someone say "dont date poor girls" Goodluck |
georgecso, None of the countries you mentioned has uninterrupted power supply!!! Our expectations are truly flabagasting!! I dont envy the leaders of Nigeria - they are damned if they do and damned if they dont. Nigeria will still be a poor country even if we have zero - corruption. Why? Our industrial output is zero, our GDP per head is shameful, with the exception of god-given oil we have not created anything that the world wants to buy, we have only one or two world class enterpreneurs, we dont have any brand of product or offering that the world can identify with Nigeria, we are at the moment nothing but 10s of millions of lazy, complaining, government-blaming, superstitious, non-tax paying, pastor-imam-pope worshiping 'waiting for jesus' MORONS. Look at the way the vast majority of our people live? Waiting for the government to come and clean their toilets, sweep their dirty compounds, stop them from sleeping with their reproductively irresponsible females - making babies they have not the faintest idea how to bring up and jacking up world poverty and misery in the process. YES you!!! I am talking to each one of you!!! And i am one of you - a full blooded proud Nigerian but lets call a spade a spade (meaning tell each other the truth). Our government just dont make the kind of money necessary to support our lofty and incredulous expectations. We are yet to work our way out of poverty. That is what it will take - hard graft for a very very long time. I wouldnt go near a gasoline pipeline with other 'brain dead' zombies thinking I am about to make a fast buck. |
Reading through these responses sadly reinforces one thing, that poverty has infact impaired our judgement to dangerous levels. That in my view is one of the reasons we are plagued with so much social and societal problems. Cant we just for once see reason and put blame squarely where it belongs? GOD himself is so pissed off with our ways that he has more or less abandoned us to our fate. The government of Nigeria, in my view, has done everything humanly possible to sensitise our people to the dangers of this repeated event. In the last few years alone, the government has embarked upon a highly visible campaign to highlight and inform its people about this danger. They have used every possible medium - radio, TV, newspapers, billboards, signboards, warnings in all our local languages and dialets, demolition of illegal structures etc etc etc. I live at Ejigbo, an area known for its network of NNPC pipelines and depots. I have seen first hand what the government has done to ensure that its citizens avoid these kinds of needless deaths. What else do people expect the government to do? Employ security on every stretch of the pipeline network? Where else in the world have you heard of people dying repeatedly in this manner? Those who died have only themselves to blame and in fact its nature's way of removing senseless, idiotic and irresponsible individuals from the midst of society. And this nonsense shout about POVERTY - Well let me tell you 'knuckle- heads' NO government in this world has ever taken its people out of poverty - that is the job and responsibility of its people. The government only creates an enabling environment and support for its citizens to use their positively creative minds to conquer the commercial world by creating products people want to buy and watch the goodies (dollars) coming home. WE THE PEOPLE ARE RESPONSIBLE AND THE NIGERIAN PEOPLE ARE VERY DIFFICULT TO GOVERN. |
pres-elect. Haba!! What happened here cannot be blamed on poverty but greed and stupidity. I live in Ejigbo and we are surrounded by pipelines and the government have launched vigorous campaign over the last few years talking about the dangers of this very incident and that people should refrain from this dangerous act. In my view the government has really done its jobs. The campaign used all mediums in all our local languages, radio, bulletins, signboards - name it. I grew up in the extreme poverty of Nigeria but I can categorically tell you this - POVERTY IS A CHOICE. But people make that choice over time. I have accomplished some of the things I set out to achieve. Those poor adults you refer to chose to be poor - they often dont know it but if you analyse their lives thoroughly you will see the path they have taken enroute to poverty. The people who died on this and other occasions are nothing but idiots and we should have no sympathy for them. You can eat and prosper anywhere in this world. It depends solely on the individual. We have a ready made universal excuse - Bad government!!!! Give me a break!!! |
huxley:Please guys - I cant wait to see answers to these questions. I have had been self- inquiring about some of the above for far too long. This is your chance my holier-than-thou brothers/sisters. Bless |
Hardware:Yes, and this is the very fact why so many people dont get through. "noting" is hard, agree, but Akintola "w"illiams questions are "taugh" You might just get through if you wrote; Nothing is hard, agreed. But Akintola Williams' questions are tough. Goodluck |
Jakumo!! Well said. I couldnt have put it better. Just makes you feel so sorry for our people. Waiting for Jesus Only in Nigeria and Africa. I dont hear that phrase anywhere else in the world. |
Condemn not , let this guy have his say!!! For me, the bible didnt drop from heaven , it was certainly put together by us devious men Mr Satan - give us more fundamentals and the very core of your new found religion. The truth is already catching up with us, every day of our miserable lives. Ignorant sufferheads who yap about being BLESSED Mr Satan , please |
God is definitely not an African - even if he exist. Travel around the world and you would see why I have said this. Mention the name Jesus anywhere other than Africa and people would say "pardon?" The African mind has been badly infected and has become lazy, uncreative, beggarly and wretched. for the best part of the last 4 centuries our minds have gone to sleep, redundant, unquestioning, unintelligent. We receive folk stories as the truth. Good for you Agagu. Many know and accept what you are saying is vastly true , but as usual we are all waiting for the "messiah" to come and wish all our continental african problems away. If we dont get rid of this dangerous mentality in a few 100 years time - black African people will only exist in story books. Let me hear more Agagu. |
Depends on the capital at your disposal, your income level and whether you are buying jointly with a partner or are married with children. If you can buy outright abroad, do so as that is where you spend most of your time and thats where your family (your wife and children) are resident. If you have to mortgage on a low deposit and facing 30 year repayment period - do so knowing the house may never be yours. And remember the longer the time horizon the greater the risk of so many unwanted/unplanned events taking place, which could jeopardise the ultimate ownership of the house e.g loss of income/job, business failure, illness, divorce, seperation, the list is endless. Buy or build a house in Nigeria (yours for life from day one!) at a very good location with good rental yield and let the house generate some income. That Naira income can be put to another income generating activity. You can then launch your diasporan income at the relentless diaporian mortgage. This requires careful thinking. If you intend to build a 'show-off' house which you will lock up, without income generating capacity of any sort then you might as well go for the mortgage now and go for a repayment period much lower than 30 years say 15 - 20 years if affordable. There are just too many factors and variables to consider. A house is a house but a mortgaged house is not yours until the corresponding debts are discharged. Goodluck!! |
god bless Gani, god bless Fela and God bless Ribadu. But exactly when are the nigerian suffering masses going to stand up and fight for their rights? When exactly? As usual we are waiting for a messiah to come and do that which we can do for ourselves. If you ask me the Nigerian people deserve their plight. As they say you earn your place in life. The quietness, the silence and acceptance by the Nigerian people is what you call duplicity in crime. The Nigerian people are just as responsible for their own nightmare as those looters. For a long time we say damn the oppressors but I think its time to say damn the oppressed - for if an oppressed man confronts his situation with silence and acceptance he is absolutely complicit and a willing partner in the crime against him. Our people are still waiting for Jesus, Allah, oyinbo, NGO, the UN, the brother and sister abroad, ifa, orunmila and so on. A serious, sustained revolt by the people will alter our situation almost instantly. God Bless Gani and others but I dont know about the Nigerian people. |
Only in Nigeria and Africa. I dont hear that phrase anywhere else in the world.
