Typical Over entitled tenant. The landlady does not need a reason to serve an eviction notice. It's her property and she can do as she wishes with respect to the law. I know tenants like you. You feel because you pay rent you have some ownership stake in the property. You mentioned your rent expired last month. A responsible tenant would reach out to inquire about rent renewal options. But your type will never do that. Also you mentioned that the landlady made a rent increase last year. Yes, she can increase rent. Do you know how much it cost to buy land and build a property? Also why would your fiance quarrel with the landlady? Una no get respect?

p.s: A quit notice of 6months does not mean you get to live in the apartment free of charge for the next 6months. You will still pay for the 6months. If you like don't pay. She can take you to court and she would win. Nigeria is not as lawless as you people think. One day you would be a landlord and you would understand. Nonsense.

Hi Everyone,

I took a loan from a Microfinance bank sometime in 2019. The loan was N600,000 and I was asked to pay back on a monthly basis for 8 months. I had actually requested for 1.2million naira loan to get an important tool/machine to enhance my business but I was only offered 600k. With 600k I could not afford to get the tool, so I diverted the money to another business. After repaying a portion of the loan for few months, the business failed and I could not afford to payback afterwards. The business was meat distribution to households and offices. It failed because of inadequate structure that gave way for customers to receive products but not pay back. Debt killed the business. I have been struggling to survive since then.

At a point, I called the company early this year, when I got a new job that I know the months of my repayment have elapsed but I am ready to start paying a percentage of my new salary, but they insisted I should pay in full since my repayment is overdue.

Recently, I have been getting several threats from the company asking me to make full payment or else the case will be reported to the police and I would be jailed for absconding with the company's money. I know I am indebted to them but I can't afford to refund all the loan now since I am only managing to live with a job that I am doing now which I earn 40k salary. My concern now is that I need clarifications from the legal practitioners, IT experts and public prosecutors in the house on the following:

1. Is this case truly a criminal case as they constantly remind me or is it a civil case?

2. Can the Police actually track my location to arrest me as they threaten? Please note that I use a small Nokia phone and I am in a remote area outside Lagos.

3.What is the worse thing that can happen; so I can get ready for it because I am not financially buoyant now to cough out 600k now.

they can't jail you.its not a criminal offence rather a civil matter that needed to be taking him court for civil suit.

Unfortunately, the law is stupid. What can be termed a confession in d eyes of stupid law is when someone says I, so so so so so, did this and that and I am not making this confession under duress....Its very unfortunate the law is weak. I also understand there's a technical clause that can be used to knock the molestation/rape incident of 7 years ago off because e dun tay.
Going forward, d solution to this thing is that ladies should be encouraged to speak up immediately, without stigma or backlash from the society. Parents should please be friends with their kids, ensure ur kids can confide in you....study ur child/ward and see what works for him or her, do what u can to earn their trust n confidence.

You are on point. The so called confession in court will be thrown to dust bin because it was under duress, he had been over powered , beaten and being intimidated, he has no choice as at that time than to co operate and do the bidding of his assailants. Except the video revealed that he was in anyway going beyond assaulting the minor. He can be charged for indecent treatment of a child, indecent assault and sexual assault as well. The man is in a big mess. Because of the hue and cry, he may not get good lawyers to defend him, Moreso he doesn't have money to hire one.

an example of my puppy. I bought it , took it home and handed it to my family for care. The little dog crawl under my vehicle and got injured, I left for work but silently prayed for it to get well. I got home later in the day and the dog despite going through pains waged its tail as usual but without vigour and candor. I was hoping it would get better only to wake and found the dog dead. Little did I know that the dog managed to stay alive for me to return from work. I missed my little Jack!!! Loyal and faithful dog even to its death.

So sorry and sad to hear story of this nature. I was fiddling with my phone on a certain day in December 2020 and stumbled on the loan application on First bank app, the loan is termed migo cash , fortunately for me , I requested for 100k but miraculously it was reduced to 1I after the payment into my account, I started receiving series of messages ranging from disclaimer to threat if I fail to pay 1.5k at the expiration of 7 days. I made frantic efforts to repay the loan, No way. Few minutes to the midnight of the expiration date, I tried using code to and it was successful. That was how I escaped the double jeopardy. Lesson learnt : NEVER WILL I BORROW FROM ANY APP AGAIN. The interest was high, penalties are unbearable.

This Lagos state goverment is very very wicked and no body has been hold responsible for the death of the peaceful protester and u plan to open d tollgate becaus of their personal interest .

That tollgate should remain closed , they can’t provide the murderer at the tollgate but they can work on reopening it .
God punish all individuals working on opening this tollgate for their selfish sake .

To be sincere with you since they stopped collecting tolls on the road, the traffic was light on that axis.

Personally, I feel that the LCC is also a victim of bad governance, the victims of Lekki Shootings and the dead must be compensated. However, the scene can be preserved for a while but not shut completely.
