Politics › Re: Buhari To Split NNPC Into Two…plans Fresh Bid Round For Oil Blocks by IbokUtoroh(m): 9:14am On Jul 25, 2015 |
CuteMaryJ: President Muhammadu Buhari has finally revealed what will be the fate of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, saying thenational oil company will be divided into two successor entities under his administration.
The President, who stated this in an interview with journalists in Washington DC during a four-day visit to the United States, an extract of which was made available to Saturday PUNCH,explained that the decision would form one of the key steps of his reform of the country’s oil and gas sector.
The NNPC is considered a cesspoolof corruption and fraud sign posted by the non-remission of revenues from oil sale to the Federation Account. Hence, one of the first reform moves by All Progressives Congress –led administration is expected to start at the NNPC.
There had been insinuations that Buhari would unbundle the NNPC into four companies but the President, in the Washington interview, said rather than breaking the NNPC into four companies, it would be divided into two – regulator and investment vehicle. While one of the successor companies will be an independent regulator, the President said the second would operate as an investment vehicle for the country. He said,
“I am reforming the oil and gas sector, breaking up the NNPC into two parts – the first willbecome an independent regulator for the sector, while the second will act as an investment vehicle for the country.”
Buhari also said there would be a new bid round for oil blocks in the country, adding that he favours transparent auction process.
“I will also end political control of the awarding of drilling and exploration rights by introducing a system of independent, transparent auctioning for licences,” the President said.
Senate President Bukola Saraki had, recently, described the NNPC as the engine room of corruption. He lamented that none of the perpetrators of illegal deals in the corporation had so far been apprehended and brought to justice.
“You hardly see where people who are the real engine room – which is the NNPC – where most of thesecorruption cases on oil are, being put on trial,” he said.
Similarly, Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, had last week called for the setting up of another national oil firm as he argued that the present NNPC would kill Nigeria if it was allowed to continue running.“If you don’t kill the NNPC, it will kill Nigeria,” el-Rufai said.
Buhari, as part of the ongoing reform of several strata of the country, said his administration would merge the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Independent Corrupt Practicesand other Related Offences Commission into one strong and more effective anti-graft agency. He said,
“Corruption is one of the top three issues facing Nigeria, along with insecurity and unemployment. We must act to kill corruption or corruption will kill Nigeria. I am determined to lead that fight.“My government is already taking several steps to cut out the cancer of corruption that has been eating away at the state for so long.“We are reorganising the existing plethora of anti-corruption bodies into single powerful agency that will have the focus, power and budget to clamp down on corruption at the federal and statelevels.”
The President said ministers would no longer have power to award contracts while announcing the introduction of a new system of plea bargaining to encourage looters of the government money and oil thieves to return the people’s stolen commonwealth. He said,
“I have already acted to remove political control over awarding of contracts away from ministers who use them to get political favours and kickbacks.“I will introduce a new system of plea bargain, that will allow those who have stolen assets and funds to return them – but if they do nottake that opportunity we will pursue them through the courts.”
Buhari insisted that his administration would not relent in asking foreign countries, including the US, to help in returning stolen funds that are sitting in private accounts abroad, but rightfully belonging to the people of Nigeria. The President lamented that the country had become over-dependent on oil because of the incompetence and corruption of government that concentrated on “how best to steal oil revenues instead of how best to use our oil windfalls to invest in a modern, growing economy.”
Rather than continue to depend on oil, Buhari said Nigeria must become a manufacturing giant.
“I will not be satisfied until the label ‘Made in Nigeria’ is as common globally, as the label ‘Made in China,’” he added.
(What an awesome news to wake up to this morning. More jobs and more transparency. Time to separate the goats from the sheep. I know a lot of people are already shaking and wetting their pants. Thumbs up Mr. President.)

Romance › Re: How I Intentionally Played A Fast Game On A Lady by IbokUtoroh(m): 5:19pm On Jul 24, 2015 |
proxillin: I met this lady on a social app. She friend-zoned me for some 3 months though I made her realize my intention.
She keeps disturbing me with lengthy chats. She can chat for 24 hours. And that alone was getting on my nerves, that I started snubbing her on chat. I only respond once in a while.
I think she noticed it, she changed her tactics and started flirting..talking dirty and sending me funny pictures of her.
I took it as an invitation, so I brought up the issue of dating again. She said we should meet and discuss it.
We set a date for the date. In the morning of the set date, on whatsap she told me she is coming with a friend of her. I thought she feared for her security and was trying to play safe...I agreed they should come together.
We went to Cumbaland (Indian restaurant)...chop all the choppables (Chop my money). We still continued the discussion, she ended up not giving me any tangible answer.
2 weeks later, she said the weekend will be boring for her, she will be home alone, she said she wants to come to my house. Chaii my head bounced. I was like chaii...this is the opportunity.... On the Saturday morning when I went out to pick her at the bus stop close to my house, I saw a lady beside her, I thought the lady was just a passerby...to found out she was the same friend she brought on the first day (her makeup confused me). They came, I ran my generator for 8 ours they spent with me glued to my DSTV watching telemondo/MTV. She wouldnt even talk to me.
I later invited her to my inner room where I made my move, she refused and started cursing. So I dont want it to turn to a rape scenario, I let her go.
Later on whatsap, I asked why she keeps bringing her friend, she said she cant go anywhere without her.
I said OK...This bad thought just came to my mind. I knew I had nothing to loose again. I have spent already (thats a loss on its own). Nothing can be worse.
So I intentionally invited her over to my house this time...as usual she brought her friend which was part of my plan.
When opportunity presented itself, I collected her friends number. I took a risk, I told her not to tell my girl. To my dismay she cooperated with me, I pinged her on whatsap, she responded and we started flowing just neutrally.
The next time we agreed to go to the beach. I was very surprised to see this girl dressed sexily, even over dressed more than my girl. My eyes stayed glued on her that my girl nearly caught me. May be she did, may be not.
In the night I buzzed her and I told her how sexy she was that day. I told her I felt like kissing and foundling her that day.
She said "you should have done it in front of your girl" jokingly.
I said "Do you know my girl doesnt stop us", she said "Hmmmm"
Shockingly she said "I know there is nothing between you guys"
I was shocked. So my girl told her friend she had nothing for me.
I told the lady, why is she doing this to me? She hasnt given me any answer and when I make any move, she bark like dog. What does she want, shes confusing me....
In short, na so her friend agreed to come to my house alone ooo. It was on a rainy Saturday. She barely enters my house when we started the "You know what " (close your eyes).
I was at my office one day when I saw pings...my girl started blasting...
Why are men like this? You are a dog You are not different from others.. Men will always be men ...blah blah blah..
So if u want to date someone, its my friend that you think its right for you to date. You cheated with my friend.
I said "Madam, Let me ask you a question".
"Were we dating?"
She said "No"
I said "So whats your definition of cheating?"
She said "but u have been disturbing me for a while now"
I said "For a while? ooh and you are proud of that? And have you given me any tangible answer?"
She said "why are you impatient?"
I just told her to get a lawyer...she cursed and changed DP to funny images about guys...U know what they do na...
I found out that she read her friends whatsap chat and got to know we were fckng.
Guys....Am i really at fault?
Did I betray her? Bros r u sure u know d meaning of BETRAY? I dont think so. Bobo u did it right |

The moving of 1N barrels by the minister was over a period of time, not like everyday for 1, 2 or 3 years. Go and read the press release again. Why is comprehension so hard for youngsters of nowadays. iif d period of time connotes wif lets say two to threee weeks then the enormity of that crimee cant be compare to the billions embezzleed by obj for 8yr being d oil minister n ibb plus abacha who Buhari outrightly said he neva stole naija money. bros i can comprehend, its u dat lacks basic compreehension skills. beta engage a good teacher to revamp ur moribund brain. |

Investment › Re: US-Iran Deal: Nigeria Could Lose N333bn By Year End by IbokUtoroh(m): 11:48am On Jul 21, 2015 |
Scrypt: I believe this is a wake up call for a sane government to put in place necessary policies to encourage diversification of the economy. Renewable energy is a great start (Like the case of the guy using Biogas the other day that was on FP)
Also we could work on increasing our refinery capacity or building more refineries and if we have just enough to cater for our needs, we could start exporting fuel to neighboring countries like Benin, Togo etc.
Explore our enormous natural gas resources to consolidate power generation and in a cascading effect it will encourage local businesses while improving business interests from foreign governments to start manufacturing plants here. I mean we have enough natural resource to serve as raw feed.
If the Jonathan government had a modicum of foresight, they would have known that nothing lasts forever. A very wise man would have used the proceeds from the boom to work on every sector of the economy but oga instead was stealing billions to fund a dead on arrival political ambition.
May God help Nigeria.
BUT NO THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN! OUR POLITICIANS ARE OVERLY AVARICIOUS. Looking for every means to satisfy their gods which is their belly. Every bill they rush to pass into law is meant to whet their insatiable greed. But we are coming for them.
This is my opinion, bigots don't quote me. was thr wny govt before gej? when was oil first drilled in nigeria? why must u guys keep attacking gej as if he is the first president of this zoo? |
