jnwankwo: Another MMM Scam. Everybody beware.
These TSTV guys are actually reckless. I am really surprised that they brought the minister into this. I believe that this is another MMM. Buyers beware. This is based on the following: 1. Bein sports acquired the EPL, Champions League and Laliga only for MENA (Middle East and North Africa). They do not have the right for Nigeria. DSTV owns the rights for Nigeria till 2019. You cannot give what you do not have. When a new service is launched, you have to wait for the next bidding round to have a shot at acquiring the rights. You cannot jump in the middle and start showing it. Things are not done that way in the PayTV world.
2. A lot of channels listed like CNN, National Geographic, Discovery etc were acquired by DSTV on an exclusive basis for DTH in sub-saharan Africa by DSTV. Channels like Star Movies, MBC2, etc are only cleared for middle east and Asia. I really doubt that they have the rights to those channels. They may show it for one or two months before they are asked to take them off air.
3. I check with a content aggregator on the cost per subscriber for these channels, assuming they can buy the rights, it came out the about 23 USD per month. That is excluding the sports channels. Based on today's naira exchange rate of 365 naira to a dollar, the cost is 8,395 Naira per subscriber. The content owners globally charge per month for their content. They do not charge per week or part of the month. The content owners dictate the terms. Nobody can pay 8395 Naira and charge 3000 Naira. Not possible.
4. The cost of decoder package is as follows - decoder 25 USD, smartcard 4 USD, dish is 5 USD. Total is 34 USD (12410 naira). If we add shipping and clearing, you can get 15,000 Naira. To charge 5000 Naira for the package, you will need a lot of cheap money from bank to fund the decoder purchase. Buying 15,000 and selling 5000 sounds interesting to me.
5. To do internet via satellite, you need VSAT equipment which is expensive compared to the dish/lnb you need to receive dstv. Minimum cost of vsat equipment should be not less than 50,000 Naira. If you use the traditional dish equipment, you can only receive. You cannot do internet with it. Unless TSTV will supply you 40,000 Naira vsat equipment for 5000 Naira.
6. I went to lyngsat and checked the ABS 3A satellite, I did not see any information about any TSTV channels. Lyngsat is the database of all channels currently on satellite.
7. When you launch a new DTH platform, you start with a test transmission. This allows you to work through some issues that might come up. It also gives people chance to see some of your channels to make sure they are real before committing their money. There is no test transmission from TSTV.
8. EFCC Fraud Charges EFCC arrested this guy last year for fraud. Not credible. http://motherhoodinstyle.net/2016/01/23/doctor-who-proposed-marriage-to-wifes-close-friend-4-months-after-her-death-dumped-after-hes-nabbed-by-efcc/
In conclusion, people should ask enough questions before investing their hard earned money. If it is too good to be true, it's probably is. Let this not be another MMM. Bad Belle go find work jor,,,,, CTL has almost all this TSTV channels plus they broadcast all kind of football matches in akwa ibom and it goes for #3150, but the upper hand in TSTV IS THE pay as you go ish. In akwa ibom only bbafrica fans and tinsel still dey watch dstv or people wey dey look dstv dish like iPhone |

Politics › Re: Why Was There Little Call For Biafra When Jonathan Was In Power? by ICEFLAME419ja(m): 5:19am On Sep 04, 2017 |
OkunrinMeta: One would imagine that in five years that Jonathan was in Power, if these protests and loud requests for secession was brought forward and it was this loud, It might have been easier for the Igbo nation to get what they seem to want.
Of course there is also the question of whether the agitators actually speak the mind of the Igbo Nation. This is because in my corner of the country, the Igbo men I know do not seem to be very much in support of Master Nnamdi. Still, these issues should be addressed by way of logical two way discussion.
So my questions are:
why is the demand for Biafra more pronounced now?
Did the agitators forget what they wanted before? Did they not want it at the time?
What exactly is the reasonable expectation currently?
Do you want the Hausa man to go and face his onions and cow while leaving the oil for only the east to enjoy because they are very selfless like Jesus?
Would it not have been easier to ask Jonathan to do that?
Are we willing to go back to 1967 to make it happen? Ask boko haram that question, that's karma for you. |

Opinionated: Nigeria, the hub and cultural nerve-center of Africa, has had its fair share of trials and hardship, but regardless of everything it remains a land of diversity and opportunity. There are a number of interesting and/or funny facts about this great country you probably didn’t know. Jumia Travel, the leading online travel agency, shares 4 of them.
Nigeria Has One of the Largest Butterfly Diversity
Nigeria has been found to have the most appropriate habitat for a large variety of the world’s butterflies. The areas around Calabar, Cross River State, located in Nigeria’s southern region, is the widely believed home of one of the largest diversity of butterflies.
It’s One of the Oldest Locations of Human Existence
Archaeological evidence shows that the history of human existence in Nigeria dated as far back as 9000 BC. The Nok civilization, which existed around 500 BC – 200 AD, is actually the earliest known civilization in Nigeria.
The Cost of Living in Abuja is Well Beyond the Average Professional’s Wages
This is more pathetic than funny really, but it’s the sad truth. Since the 1990s, the cost of living in Abuja is above what an average professional can afford. This thus makes living in the state quite difficult. However, to ease the burden, young professionals would typically live as ‘housemates’ in the same apartment, sharing the cost of rent in equal parts to ease some of the burden.
Nigeria is Home to the Happiest and Most Optimistic People in the World
This really isn’t surprising but it’s an interesting fact nonetheless. According to the World Happiness Report 2017 produced by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), a global initiative of the United Nations, Nigeria ranks as Africa’s sixth happiest people. The truth is, it might not seem like Nigerians have anything to be happy about but our choosing to be happy and rejoice as we go about our daily hustle regardless of anything, is much healthier than wallowing in depression and despair for the state of things.

Politics › Re: Buhari Has Practically Done Nothing To Grow Nigeria’s Economy - Financial Times by ICEFLAME419ja(m): 2:54pm On Jul 13, 2017 |
ddippset: I am a million percent convinced that President Buhari had noble intentions in running for and assuming the seat of the presidency. Unfortunately he has been hampered by ill health and militancy. Yes militancy. For a period of over one whole year the Niger delta avengers blew up pipelines at will and the international oil market was far from booming. A barrel of nigerian oil got as low as 40$ per unit. It takes money to make money. It takes money to grow an economy. Nigeria is neither europe nor america and the author fails to realize this. The Nigerian economy defies the indices used for his experimentation. In europe and america there are no ipobs and boko harams. in europe and america the economy is not based on a single product, it is based on several products; it's already a diversified economy. In europe and america people don't loot money in billions. After over 30 years of looting and corruption we have to expect another 30 years for the country to be fixed. Ironically the same pdp which superintended over the destruction of Nigeria today see themselves as the messiahs, the God-sends, the ones to take us to the promise land, and they feel neither shame nor remorse in telling us that to our faces. Didn't even finish what you typed here but just like nollywood movies I know how you'll land, I know wr ure from already n there's no need arguing with you. |

Guyman02: Half News! Give us the complete story.
From the video, it is obvious that driver was attempting to forcefully drive away with the woman officer inside the car instead of parking his car. She did what every woman in danger would by grabbing at the gear lever, steering or hold him by his neck. The male officer had to come to the aid of his colleague by smashing the windscreen to probably stop the driver from escaping with her.
Try that with Nigeria Police and accidental discharge will be your case. But the FRSC personnel should also learn to courteous when dealing with drivers.
There are cases of FRSC being knocked down by wicked drivers especially those from the Core North who will never stop for FRSC on patrol. So how did the lady enter the car at first it's all about the video recording that's all. |

OlowoB: I decided to share this Cos my heart bleeds as a result of the jungle justice carried out in ikorodu in recent times. I do not support crime but I also stand against jungle justice (this is not the way to go). This is going to be a long read, please learn from a real life story.
My bro moved back to the country from the Uk after so many years with his family to kebbi state to start lecturing. This is someone who has been so passionate to come back home, telling me of how Nigeria will be a great country and there are lots of opportunities etc. He was just settling down in kebbi with his family and trying to adapt to his new environment when an incident happened.
If I remember clearly, I think it was on a Saturday in April this year, he left to the market to buy some things and he parked his Peugeot 406 just opposite the market to get some stuffs. After buying some things he rushed back to his car and opened the car and sat inside but he noticed something was strange. While trying to figure out what was wrong, a guy came to his side almost immediately and knocked on the window and told him to wind down and immediately my brother did this, the guy landed a slap on my brother and started calling him thief. While my brother was still trying to balance well due to the stars he was seeing, This guy, a tall man dragged him down and started beating him while other guys around quickly joined in. People just started beating him without asking questions (this was someone well dressed).
As God will have it, an elderly Hausa man just came from nowhere and said stop beating this man and let's hear him out first, I thank goodness the guys beating him obeyed and they stopped. My bro said he has a car also and showed his car keys as evidence. So the man collected the car keys from his hand and asked that he takes them to where his own car was (cos at this stage, he checked the initial car he entered and discovered they had similar colour, same car make, almost same plate number except for the last 2 letters and surprisingly his car keys could open another Peugeot 406).
It was while the elderly man was doing the investigation my brother now discovered that his car was parked just like 2 miles ahead of this other Peugeot 406. The elderly man confirmed and the guys who have been beating him all this while just said sorry and left.
Questions are? What would have happened if that elderly man had not turned up on time? Hausas sometimes move around with daggers, what if they have used it on him? If they had killed him, they would have said he was a thief and people on Nairaland would have also said good riddance.
I would be coming on a short visit to naija this year and we have a family house in Ikorodu close to laspotech, infact close to mallo filling station opposite sawmill. With what his happening at the moment, I doubt if I can enter that zone (I don't want to wear short knickers around that zone now and they will say I am baddho and maybe get burnt... God forbid). Unfortunately I would not see my mother. I can bet it that ag least one innocent person must have been killed in that ikorodu jungle justice.
I also understand the pains of the affected families, relatives killed by badoo but jungle justice is NEVER the way to go. Please and please, the police should come out and do what they are paid for. God bless Nigeria, God bless Lagos state. Jungle justice are meant for those politicians, all those forming hard men are all cowards, mk dem go look for obasanjo |
Events › Re: How To Plan Your Nigerian Wedding For N20,000 Or Less by ICEFLAME419ja(m): 7:19am On Jul 03, 2017 |
Opinionated: By Adeniyi Emmanuel Bamgboye
Do you know you can spend just N20,000 on your wedding and still retain your champion as a perfect gentleman and in-law? Don’t worry, I am an accountant, I will give you a succinct breakdown.
Registry fee is within N12,000 – N14000 depending on the local government you wish to use. Let’s pick the upper range which is N14,000
Don’t go and buy egg roll. One is now N80. You know you cannot afford this; the best is to go for Ghanaian buns. One is N20 , you can buy it loju (at) dozen for discount sake. Buy 2 dozen because of the impromptu and accidental guests. That’s approximately N450. It could be lesser, if you can bargain well.
Buy a crate of 7up, not coke or Fanta. That’s N1,400 Budget N1,500 for cab transport. Uber is cheap. It’s your wedding day. You can’t afford to be a “trekkist” on that glorious day.
You don’t need a photographer. Use the camera on your phone. If you don’t have a camera phone, you can use your friend’s own.
To achieve all these, you have to make your wedding an alupaida (mystical) event. The one where your blurry wedding pictures will just surface magically online without you giving any of your friends prior notice. Some of them may be angry with you. Beg them well. They will understand.
Don’t bother about new clothes; wear what you have at home.
For your refreshment to be sufficient, make sure your guest list includes both parents (yours and hers), two of your friends who will also sign and act as witnesses and cameramen respectively.
In total, you have 10 guests including you and your wife. With this, the Ghanaian buns and 7up are likely to go round. You would even have more than sufficient for the court staff who are fond of doing “Atenu”
Back to my analysis. N14,000 + N450 + N1,400 + N1,500 equals N17,350.
With this, you will have N2, 650 as change. Use it to cook honeymoon Soup. Enjoy your life to the fullest with your wife.
Implement this religiously and thank me later.
