The bolded are all lies.

This and any other fuel additives are what we call "Snake Oil".

Tune up your vehicles regularly, follow manufacturers recommendation and you will get eh most usage from your vehicles.

The only ones gaining with this sham are the multi level marketers. The only one loosing are the customers who are risking damaging their vehicle engines.
I don't agree to that. From my experience, Chevron Techron concentrated works for me. I feel the difference and so may reviews online say the same.
So if you like call it "snake oil" good for you, but for me and other reviewers, it worked for us.
And why would a renowned company like chevron sell fake stuff?
Car TalkRe: The Most Reliable Cars - Revealed! by icemann(m): 1:17am On Apr 17, 2015
How is reliably the same as repair cost?

Whoever wrote this piece is an Imbecilee. (No offence to OP)

From his logic changing $20 sensor twice a year for 5 years is the same as changing a $200 alternator ever 5 years

Reliability in engineering is the overall consistency of a product.
A QFD analysis would range the importance of each element a product and rank it.
Based on the ranking scores are given to know the most essential use of any part of a product.
The the important product are given high rank, and least important low rank.
The frequent replacement of lowly ranked element doesn't mean unreliable.

Example would you buy a car with yearly door handle fix or a yearly transmission fix?(assuming they cost the same to fix)
or radio vs Head lights.

The cars reliability is below average and cost of parts are way too high. If you live in Nigeria and you value reliability over luxury, avoid VW, Audi and BMW's. When it come to repairs, German cars are money pits. Just my 2

I recently bought a golf3 car dat came with a gas function, but to my surprise, anywhere I go they tell me dey can't fill d gas tank. Please does anybody know where they fill such car gas?
I don't think its a good idea to refill your gas. As an Engineer i would advise you that gas tolerance is less than gasoline and diesel. A small increase in flash point for a gas would cause more problems than you can imagine. I don't wana go into details on how LHV(Lower Heating Value) and HHV(Higher Heating value) affects CNG Engines
Secondly your gas lines haven't been tested and Inspected. Do you know the state of the gas lines before the car was sold? Don't risk you life cos of a silly experiment or to save petrol money. Just my two cents.

I do appreciate your response.
The engine is knocking and overheating seriously. The oil in it was seriously diluted with petrol and there was melted metals found when the buttom oil pan was removed.
Spark plugs and two ignition coils were bad.
Oil, ignition coils, coolant, spark plugs have been replaced but it seems that damage had been done to the engine's internal component(s).
I suspect the crankshaft, metals and bearings, as the engine load at idle is close to 60% (Shown on OBD II scanner).
please advise..... should I rework or get a used engine? How can I get one and at what cost?
Regards.

Car TalkRe: G-wagon Vs Range Rover Vs Benz GL450 Vs Land Cruiser by icemann(m): 3:31pm On Apr 01, 2015
The G doesn't belong in this group. It's a 5 seat off road SUV. The rest are family oriented 7/8 seat SUV with better handling and poor off-road ability.

Other replacements could be,

Infiniti QX80/QX56
Lincoln Navigator
Cadillac Escalade

My choice would be the QX80. More bang for your bucks. One of the highest HP and Torque in this group, 2nd best in fuel efficiency for a V8 with over 5.5L and One of the cheapest for a luxury brand (if you wana save on Luxury).

Car TalkRe: Turbo In Cars by icemann(m):
Yes i continue.

So for those of you that ran way from Physics and chemistry class in secondary you can now skip this part cause the road is getting bumpy.

Like i said you need to know the gas laws to keep up.
we use P1V1/T1 = P2V2/T2 (combined gas law)
P1=Atmosperic pressure
V1 volume
T1 Temperature

P2 = Compressed pressure
V2 = Comp Vol
T2 = Comp temp

we hold volume constant(Your cylinder has a fixed volume so flow rate from the turbo is the same)

p1= 14.7, P2 =39.7, T1 = 80F (300 kelvin) T2 ?

We solve for T2 = 810 Kelvin =980F (jesus)

Next stop we find the flow rate .

So at this point Only Chemical and Mech Engineers would get it.

We use the Mollier Diagram. It gives us BTU" per mol but we dont know how many moles in a flow.

Have i lost you yet? I hope not

Next we use the Ideal Gas Law equation
PV=ZnRT

n= Number of moles
R= constant( is the ideal, or universal, gas constant, equal to the product of the Boltzmann constant and the Avogadro constant)
8.314 J·K−1·mol−1 or 0.08206 L·atm·mol−1·K−1or ≈2 calories
T = 810kelvin
P= 39.7 Psi
V= can be calculated from the diameter of the compressor opening and pressure. (Hydraulics class my people). or we can just copy what the manufacturer puts out on the compressor/turbo.

Z= z factor (you need a z factor chart, and it usually ranges from 0.9 to 0.7 for air depending on the temp and pressure).

Like i said engineers only.

How much gas is present could be specified by giving the mass instead of the chemical amount of gas. Therefore, an alternative form of the ideal gas law may be useful. The chemical amount (n) (in moles) is equal to the mass (m) (in grams) divided by the molar mass (M) (in grams per mole):

n = m/M
By replacing n with m / M, and subsequently introducing density ρ = m/V, we get:

PV = RTm/M

I got this one from Wikipedia.

So with the Mollier Diagram and the moles we can find the amount of heat in BTU's and choose a heat ex-changer.

Sounds easy and straight forward right? Hell No.

We forgot safety factor. Now that can only be determined by experience and Lab experiment.

Now you see why employers require 10 years experience.

Thanks for Reading.

I just inherited a 2005 Chrysler 300 Touring that I'm trying to fix. Took it to my friend's mechanic who gave me a bill that I would like the experts in the house to weigh in on.

stabilizer linkage N18,000

lower arm double bushing N50,000

lower arm with joint N50,000

ball joint N50,000

Complete tie rod N30,000

stabilizer rubber N10,000

set of front and back brake pad N50,000

total #208,000

This bill sounds very outrageous and I would like for people with more experience and expertise to weigh in on this matter. Thank you very much.
Jesus are you serious.You are been ripped off cos you are a woman, And you are sure its the right part?
My dear i can help you get them here in the US. $50 X2X190(plus tax)= 21,000 Naira approx, The only problem is the time for shipping which is normally like 2 to 3 weeks.

Car TalkRe: Turbo In Cars by icemann(m):

The basic principal behind turbocharging is fairly simple, but a turbocharger is a very complex piece of machinery. Not only must the components within the turbocharger itself be precisely coordinated, but the turbocharger and the engine it services must also be exactly matched. If they're not, engine inefficiency and even damage can be the results. That's why it's important to follow correct installation, operating and preventative maintenance procedures.

Source: http://www.kadekticaret.com/whatisaturbocharger.htm
All these men. way dey copy and paste.

The priciple is based on Gas laws, If you know Gay-Lussac's law it would be alot easier to understand.

Let me explain in lay mans terms

Your engine is a combustion chamber(it burns Gasoline), and combustion is a combination of fuel(gasoline), air and fire(from your plugs)
when combustion happens, carbon (from the hydro carbon octane which is the major component of gasoline) mixes with oxygen to form Water, carbon dioxide(co2), carbon monoxide(co) and Energy. It is and Exothermic reaction( Heat is released ) the process of combustion causes expansion (The Gas molecules co2 and co are excited due to heat and causes excessive vibration there fore the expansion) and the expansion forces the piston downwards(Combustion phase of a 4 cycle engine)

Now this is the supercharging and turbo charging part

Cause the process of expansion and combustion is limited to the cylinder volume at full expansion we could "cheat" by forcing in more air molecules in side the combustion chamber and get more expansion and reduce the amount of incomplete co to co2 (aka more oxygen and a cleaner burn) . Sounds easy right? Hell no.

Pressure laws states that increase in pressure causes increase in temperature at fixed volume and reduce pressure would cause cooling all at fixed volume. (that is why your deodorant spray and insecticide gets cold when almost empty).

So if we compress air it would get hotter, Not nice for your engine. Hot air would cause Pre-ignition and the Knocking sound. But what of the knock sensors? The cant do anything now, why? The knock sensors adjust flow rate(air and fuel) to reduce knock, but the air hot enough to burn even before the compression stage starts.

So how do we cool the air? We use and inter-cooler, Its a heat ex-changer/radiator for the compressed hot air. It cools the compressed air before it goes into the engine.

Sounds easy right? But now here is the difficult part, How do you know what size of each component you need?
The turbos are rated in output pressure and flow rate, PSI and cubic inches respectively (Americans and field units, yeye people). And the inter-cooler are rated in BTU's (heat is measures in joules and yes America again)

Now the Engineering part.

So you are compressing from 14.7psi (atmospheric pressure) to 25psig (note psi is different from psig, The G means gauge, so 25 psig is 25+14=39psi)

Let me stop here for now my oga de look me some how. I would do the engineering later.

American Cars get a lot of flack from the media and on social sites. What is really wrong with them?

I have scratched most of my car itches (German, Japanese) and I really want to fulfil my American car itch.

Is there anything catastrophically wrong with American Cars?

Personally I'd love to own something based on the Ford panther platform. A full sized American land yacht. Crown Vic, grand marquis or town car. These can be gotten really cheap now and I'm sure body on frame will fare better on our roads.

Anyone have any experience with these or other cars?
American cars suck badly. It cos the US Govt $21 BILLION to bail them out (even Ford was going under and the took theirs 1 year before GM and Chrysler).

Chrystler has been rated worst car brand 4 years in a row by consumer reports. The resale value after 5 years is at an average of 40% ( Toyota is at 63%).

Class for class they had to drop prices in their luxury brands so as to compete with Lexus, MB, Volvo, Infiniti, and Acura. (Yeah Audi and BMW are as Unreliable).

The only reason these companies exist is because of brand loyalty and the bail out money other that that it would be owned by Lifan, Dongfeng, Geely, GAC or some Chinese company.

I love your analysis, but most tokumbor engines are from stripped/accidented cars and some still not had their timing belts replaced (less than 100,000km) so if he's searches diligently he will get a good engine. I replaced that same spec of engine 4years ago for a friend and its still doing strong.
See the price on eBay. Avg is $500. So $500 X 180 Naira= N90,000 That is minus shipping and taxes. I don't know how they are getting the engine for less than $250. Even junk yards wouldn't sell at that price (Info from a reliable source).

Specialist900:
the present engine is even a baby boy i.e 99 accord. And it's cost is barely 40k
So you used another engine? OK
You still don't get it. let me break it down for you.

1. 40k for a VTEC engine means it is rebuilt(No doubt).

2. Any petrol engine over 200k is at its last gasp of life (16 year cars average 192k. Sorry the average in US where the supposed engine comes from is 12k/yr)

3. How many more years can you get MAXIMUM UTILITY from a "40K" Engine before it requires rebuilding or buying a rebuilt one.(i guess 1 year from all the post i see)

4. So you didn't learn your lesson from the first engine you bought(assuming you bought the VTEC).

5. A 20 year old car is a heavy liability. Almost every rubber is worn out( Hoses, seals, bushings etc.).

Its all up to you bro, i am just giving you and advice.

Now, I'm torn between changing it's rings or buying a new tokunbo engine.

Advice needed. Thanks
Sell it and buy a new car.(No joke)
If you can take a risk on a 100k engine (including accessories and labor), then i would advice you to sell add more money and get a better car.
I don't think you can get a 95 engine(20 year old car) with less than 200k miles on the engine(10 miles a year is standard). Almost Every thing in the market is rebuild so its either you are rebuilding or buying a new car.
