Jobs/Vacancies / Alternative Means Of Income For Motorcycle And Tricycle Drivers by Icequeen94(f): 4:06pm On Feb 07, 2020
Following the Tricycle (Okada) and Motorcycle (Keke) ban in Lagos, it is obvious that most of the riders would be devastated owing to the fact that their only source of living has been taken away from them.

Even though the government has promised to do something about it, people may still need to look for other sources of income before anything is done.

So in order not to be idle or get depressed, it wouldn’t be out of place to suggest other sources of income because it is obvious that for this situation to come up now, even if it is being resolved later, there’s every possibility it might happen again in the future.

This is why we have decided to compile a list of other options for you to engage in before a solution comes up, and even if anything is done about it, you can still have something else to do apart from driving.

Here’s a list of alternative sources of income you can engage in:

Mai Shayi
The people who sell bread, tea, and egg or indomie and egg on the streets are known as “Mai shayi sellers”.

This is one of the businesses that keep you healthy and moving. It is obvious that no matter how the country pushes us, people must eat. So if you can go into this very lucrative business you will definitely make something out of it.

All you need to do is look for a popular junction in your street, or close to a popular joint, a clean nice location where people can easily find you.

You don’t need to have tens of thousands to start this business, just make sure you know how to prepare the mai shayi, you can learn if you want then start small and you will start making cool cash from it.

Barber/Hair Stylist
Barbing is one of the easiest vocations to learn for those who may be interested but do not have the skill. It is something that can be learned within a month or two depending on how fast you are.

This type of vocations does not necessarily need you to have so much money to start. You can start by going to people’s houses to offer the services and when you have gathered enough then you can set up your own space, or you can also turn your house to your office.

People make/cut their hair regularly so this is something you will not regret starting up. It all depends on how well you do yours.

Career / Career Mistakes To Avoid In 2020 by Icequeen94(f): 2:40pm On Jan 17, 2020
Having the best career starts with choosing to do what you love, focusing on what you love and getting someone to pay you for it.

Sure you may have set career goals for the New Year but have you taken out time to know what didn’t work for you during the previous years? Have you looked at the mistakes and pitfalls that lie ahead of you?

Well if you haven’t, it’s not too late to start, and remember the saying that “he who fails to plan, plans to fail. So start with those things you didn’t do well before you delve into new things and while on it, try not to make those mistakes that you made last year.

With that in mind, here are some career mistakes you should avoid in 2020:

Not discovering your career path
Have you ever stopped to question yourself whether you are on the right career path? Well, for me, I have. I know how it feels to be confused about the right career path to take.

When I was still in school I was unsure of what I really wanted and I even tried doing different things until I was able to discover myself and what my interests are. CONTINUE READING

Jobs/Vacancies / Salary Structure Of Doctors In Nigeria by Icequeen94(f): 12:08pm On Jan 09, 2020
Given the herculean tasks and responsibilities that rely on the shoulders of an average doctor in Nigeria, it’s not farfetched why they should have their earnings on a totally different salary scale and structure when compared to that of other professions of human endeavors.

Starting from getting a university degree, it’s a common trend for a student studying medicine and surgery or dentistry to spend more years than his or her contemporaries studying other courses in art, engineering, and business. This is probably the first reason they should earn more than others.

See the specific Salaries of various Doctors in Nigeria Based on their Companies

Secondly, for most institutions, their college of medicine uses a totally different calendar than that of the other disciplines in the school. This is more like setting themselves apart from the trends of others. Distinguishing these medical students from their peers and making them stay in school to study those very big books is aimed at making them unbreakable. Those who cannot cope with these rigorous activities often get relocated to other disciplines or even withdrawn from the institution. This soul-breaking procedure adopted by the medical profession sets them apart from other professions.

Now, when they start working, generally they tend to earn more than an average businessman, an engineer or a lawyer. But the reason for this goes beyond the university curriculum and structure of the profession. They primarily earn more because they deal with lives – human lives. They involve in various procedures on a daily basis that decide whether a patient lives or dies. The degree of risk and importance associated with this profession is what basically makes them earn more than other professions on the average. In finance, the higher the risk, the higher the return.

In a survey carried out by MySalaryScale.com in 2019, salary data for different professions were gathered all across Nigeria. It was gathered that a medical doctor earns an average salary of #230,000 per month. This excludes other financial benefits and multiple jobs earnings. CONTINUE READING

My dear continue with your teaching job, the good thing about it is that while teaching, you have time for other things so you can further your education, get your certificate and get promoted. Don't try bank contract oo, you will work and the money they are paying won't even show and at the end of the day they may not even retain you especially when you don't have a certificate yet.
While teaching you can always study and move further plus they will keep increasing your salary. See teachers salary here
Labragadaya:
Please I Need Advise Urgently!

Pls I just registered this handle to avoid any form of backlash.

Here's my issue, I graduated in 2015 and I've been doing several things to keep body and soul together. However, late this year I got a teaching job in my states Civil service. The pay is somewhere BTW 45 to 50k and my place of assignment is in a rural area.

Pls also note that I do not have an education certificate which if I do not acquire soonest might cost me some years in promotions and maybe my job eventually.

On the other hand, I would like to pursue and build my career in the discipline I studied in school (a technical inclined course)and also further my education here (masters degree) which might provide me with better job opportunities and my teaching job provides ample time for this.

Well, the cause of my present dilemma is this - Recently, I got shortlisted for a job as a contract staff in a bank. I have just been deployed and I've been directed to resume within the week. The pay is around 85k per month plus other benefits.

Right now, I am confused if I should stick with the govt teaching job or I should go for the contract bank work which initially is for a period of 1 year after which it might be renewed (dicey). Pls I need the advice of people who have been in my shoe or in it currently? Which do I go for? What do I do?
