TV/MoviesRe: Heroes: TV Series by icezik1(m): 2:27pm On Oct 17, 2008
Episode 5 was really revealing. I agree that Heroes has become a bit weak but they have the opportunity to revive the series if they can develop (SPOILER ALERT) Mr. Petrelli well.

This thread is slowly getting boring. I thought the demons in Max Payne were drug induced and supposed to be for his slow motion? Anyway, hello GAmine, Vesc, iice and Ex.

NO new movies to comment on. Just watched the clear versions of Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk and the only thing to look forward too apart from Watchmen, is the Avengers movie. At least we know Samuel L. Jackson is Nick Fury.

It's sad that we live in a world where only Super hero or game or franchise movies are good movies. Anyway, later folks.

TV/MoviesRe: Hollywood directors: Rate or hate? What's your Take? by icezik1(m): 3:31pm On Sep 02, 2008
Unfortunately, no movie is going to seem good if you've watched Dark Knight unless the movie is comedy or franchise. As long as the movie is action/drama, people are going to compare it to Dark Knight and think it sucks. That's why Tropic Thunder is still number one in the Theatres, it's comedy. While movies like Clone Wars, Mummy 3, Death Race, Traitor etc are all gonna fade away fast because they're action movies. On the other hand, movies like Pineapple express, the house Bunny, Mama Mia, Tropic Thunder will hang on in the top ten because they cannot be compared to TDK (Different genre). Don't be shocked if TDK climbs back to number 2.

Sha, that's my opinion.  wink

P.S:- HOpefully, Watchmen will rock!
TV/MoviesRe: Hollywood directors: Rate or hate? What's your Take? by icezik1(m): 3:27pm On Sep 02, 2008
@iice

I read that Traitor is crap. The storyline looks kind of weak. What will happen is people will go to the cinema to see it, realise it sucks and advise their friends not to watch it. I was right about Death Race, it's a flop. Can you imagine, when it came out it was 3rd in the Box office and TDK was fourth, but now, TDK has climbed to 3rd and Death Race is at 6th and is fast dropping. Babylon A.D is another flop in progress. I give it 2 weeks to drop out of the top 10.

I've been gone a while. Sadly, I'm gonna be replying less often as I return to no man's land (My school). Gamine should understand. Anyway, yeah, I agree with Vesc. I do have a wider taste when it comes to movies (except Romance and Horror genres). Sha, TDK has overshadowed all the new movies. It's gonna take a really brilliant movie to take the shine away from TDK. Perhaps franchise movies like Max Payne, James Bond and Harry Potter. The Brad Pitt movie might do something in the Boxoffice but lets wait and see. As far as, The Secret Life of Bees goes it may not be a BoxOffice success but it's the kinda film Oscar people like. For now, the only movie in the future that I'm looking forward to is Watchmen. TDK changed my view of what a movie should be like. I hope Quentin Tarrantino's movie ain't this year or it will not do very well. So if the movie is not a franchise or comedy or "Oscar-ish" I don't believe they'll make any impact this year.

At least, that's my opinion.

Just saw a trailer for the Secret Life Of Bees. The movie is about a "Lily Owens who's a young white girl who lives on a peach farm that her abusive father owns. Rosaleen is a black woman hired by Lily's father to be a stand in mother for Lily (Her real mother died in a horrendous accident that happened when she was a toddler) but when Rosaleen insults some of the biggest racists in their town, Lily is forced to take Rosaleen and run away to a town Lily believed her mother once lived. They go to live with three estranged Black sisters on a honey farm, and Lily soon learns what it is like to have a real family" culled from http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0416212/synopsis.

The movie looks like it's gonna be really touching. Possibly Oscar worthy. It stars Queen Latifah, Dakota Fanning, Alicia Keys, Sophie Okenedo, Jennifer Hudson amongst others. Never heard of the book, but I ain't surprised about that. I'll try to read it before I watch the movie. Has anyone heard of and/or read the book?

RomanceRe: Is It True That You Will Never Understand A Lady Until After Marriage? by icezik1(m): 4:47pm On Aug 20, 2008
No, it ain't true. Many people, these days, live with each other for a long time before getting married so they have ample opportunity to discover all the nuances of personality/character with each other.

Me, I'm only eternally loyal to Spielberg, that fine Jew, but as far as other directors go, Nolan is sure as hell one for the future. I just hope he disassociates himself from the Batman franchise
Why? Do you think it takes away from his credibility or what? Or do you feel he can only go downhill after TDK? Explain yourself!

TV/MoviesRe: Hollywood directors: Rate or hate? What's your Take? by icezik1(m): 5:26pm On Aug 18, 2008
@Everyone

That reminds me. I read "The Dark Knight Returns" (For those who didn't know, Watchmen and The Dark Knight Returns are the only two super hero graphic novels in Time's best Graphic Novels Ever, and Watchmen is the only Graphic Novel in their list of best 100 books of the present era). The g. novel was really good. I was very impressed. I especially loved the art and Frank Miller really did a splendid job with the storyline. The comic features the two villains from the movie ie. The Joker and Two Face and also features a female Robin, Superman and the Green Arrow. I loved the demented behavior of the Joker and the fact that the comic was an examination of how Batman would be when he was in his 50s. Superman, as usual, was portrayed as an absolute idiot. I strongly advise everyone to locate this comic and read it (and if you can't find it then download it off the net  cool )

I agree, whether it's through hook or crook, they should show The Dark Knight and when the time comes they should show Watchmen!
