Music/RadioRe: What Are You Listening To Right Now? by icezik1(m): 2:26am On May 13, 2009
Hello - Eminem

The best track on Eminem's new album. It's on repeat along with some other choice tracks from the album.

The style Eminem experimented with on Encore has been polished, pimped and thrown into 5th gear.
Jeeeez. . . . . The real Slim Shady has returned!!!!!
The lyrical design, flow and production value are way beyond anything i have heard thus far from Eminem.
This album will be a commercial success. There's an air of inevitability about it.
I've listened to the album and I thought "3 a.m" was one of the crappy songs on it and yet  it is currently number 37 on the billboard Hot 100. It's inevitable that this album will sell.

Here is my own personal review without the skits included.

2 - 3 A.M - The track is OK but compared to other material on the album it's not really good enough. I also didn't like the IMHO extreme violence. ok

3 - My mom - Crap

4 - Insane - This song is Eminem at his lyrical best. He's absolutely insane! Dope

5 - Bagpipes from Baghdad - Nice beat. Good flows. Doesn't remind me of "Ass like that" though Ok

6 - Hello - The best Track on the album. This is an absolutely brilliant song. Simple beat, tight rhymes. Eminem is back! Dope

8 - Same Song & Dance - another absolutely brilliant song. I love the irony of the title of the track. Dope

9 - We Made You - I've listened to this song over 60 times. 'Nuff Said! Dope

10 - Medicine Ball - I like the concept and the pun on his relapse! Ok

12 - Stay Wide Awake - Who allowed this song on to the album? CRAP

13 - Old Times Sake - I've listened to this track over 30 times. 'Nuff said. Dr. Dre has still got it. Looking forward to his album. Dope

14 - Must Be The Ganja - Crap

16 - Dejavu - I didn't like this track at first but it eventually grew on me. Dope

17 - Beautiful - My second favourite track. Reminds me of "Sing for the moment" except with Eminem singing a brilliant chorus. Dope

18 - Crack A Bottle - Everyone should have heard this song and developed their own opinions. OK

20 - Underground - This is proof that Eminem is the best rapper alive. Sheer lyrical genius at it's best. No other rapper can compare lyrically with eminem. Lyrically Dope

8 Dopes and 4 Oks. This album may not be as good as Marshall Mathers or Slim Shady and The Enimen show but it is definitely better than Encore

aieromon:
I decided to listen to it one more time and give my review.

1.Dr West(skit) - nice skit but cant compare with the one on the MM LP.for Christ's sake, where did the name West come from?Dr West is interviewing him and asking him how he feels like to be finally out of rehab. At the end,it all turns out to be a nightmare.

2.3a.m - An attempt to paint a Stephen King novel on CD.rather drab attempt.CRAP

3.My Mom - Nice horns from Dr Dre but this song is the wackest song about his mom so far.My mom loves valium, bla bla bla.He actually blames his mom for his drug problems.of all the traits for you to inherit from your parents.anyway,at least he agrees that like mother, like son.this song should be titled My Mom and My Stepdad.CRAP

4.Insane - This song ended just as i was starting to enjoy it.shortest song on the album and a lil sampling of "Balling out of control" by 50 and "Take You Higher" by The Game.DOPE

5.Bagpipes from Baghdad - "Ass like that" remake. What's with all the Mariah name calling?CRAP

6.Hello - if e no be "My Name is",e no fit be like "My name is".This song is one of the reasons why i feel he was trying to produce The SS LP Volume 2.cool song, though.another thing,50 must have taught him how to sing cos he delivers his chorus and bridge beautifully.DOPE

7.Tonya(skit) - Only God knows what plans he has for her.

8.Same Song & Dance - Em delivers his version of a perverts pick up song.Lots of singing.CRAP

9.We Made You - Typical Em.I have nothing against this song cos Em always has a single where he makes fun of celebrities.DOPE

10.Medicine Ball - Resurrects Christopher Reeves from The MM LP.What the bejesus is a medicine ball?CRAP

11.Paul(skit) - Paul as usual has a problem with Ems work

12.Stay Wide Awake - i dunno what he had in mind but apart from the chorus, the song just didnt make sense except to Amy Winehouse.CRAP

13.Old Times Sake - About time the doctor rescues his boy(for old times sake).Notice how Em strains his voice to give us that Eminem Show feel.you're now smoking with the best.DOPE

14.Must Be The Ganja - What has sleeping pills addiction got to do with Ganja?CRAP

15.Mr. Mathers(skit) - Em goes into overdose

16.Dejavu - Beat seems to be sampled from Slim Shady LP(Just don't give a mixed with that track with Royce da 5'9"wink.Love the organ piano.DOPE

17.Beautiful - Em copied this concept from Jay's Beach chair and Kanye's Homecoming.Beats the ish out of Chris Martin in his chorus delivery.ohu hoho ho!DOPE

18.Crack A Bottle - Never did like this song.Don't ask me why.CRAP

19.Steve Berman(skit) - I thought this guy died from the gun wounds.Love all the Stevie skits

20.Underground - Loud music with Ken Kaniff from Connecticut showing his gay-self as usual at the end."Criminal" 2009.Beat sampled from 50's Piggy Bank.DOPE

It's so unfortunate that ever since the Marshall Mathers LP,i've been a friend of the fast forward button.Maybe i should just delete the crap music and keep my six favs.

Ciao!
Nice Review! I'm getting the album right now. I will listen and post my own views. grin

Old Times Sake feat. Dr. Dre ain't that bad but it ain't super special either!
Music/RadioEminem's Relapse Album - Initial Views! by icezik1(op): 4:56am On May 06, 2009
So far I've heard four tracks from the album. Crack a Bottle feat. Dr. Dre and 50 Cent; We Made You; 3 A.M and Old Times Sake feat. Dr. Dre.

In order of preference:

Crack A Bottle
Old Times Sake
3 A.M
We Made You

Crack a bottle is the best song from the album so far in my personal opinion. However, Old Times Sake and 3 A.M ain't so bad. This album is not looking like a classic. As an Eminem fan, I'm hoping there's gonna be much better tracks but from what I've heard so far, the future is looking bleak. Please post your opinions.

You should come out and categorically state your actual opinions on Mode9, M.I, RuggedMan and Sauce Kid so that there'll be no confusion.

@walttt

I strongly suspect you're one of those people that read about mode9 for the first time in this forum. And did you know that OverDose has the exact same style as Modenine or Illbliss? They rap the same way. Anyway, just yesterday, I was listening to Talking to you ( a modenine track) on cool fm and i changed channel to rhythm and they were playing comedy money (another modenine track). Go figure.
Music/RadioRe: Nigerian Industry Artists Who Could Actually Do Good Globally? by icezik1(m): 8:46pm On Apr 06, 2009
To me only Asa and maybe D'banj can make it. Why? Due to uniqueness. If you look at the current Billboard charts you will notice that the people on the charts are UNIQUE. The World loves something new, fresh and different. In fact, D'banj, Tu Face, Durella, Timaya, 9ice, Asa and Lord of Ajasa (He's doing Rap music from a new perspective!) are very unique. They  can hold their own in the international scene and make our music more popular. People like M.I, P-Square, Mode9 (Even though lyrically he's better than most of the rappers in America including Jay-Z), Banky W, Wande Cole, Sasha, Naeto-C and Ikechukwu are all good musicians but sadly they are just doing what is already being done abroad. They can't compete with the already existing artistes who have better reputations. Right now, Lady Gaga's song Poker Face is top of Billboard's Hot 100 and anyone that has heard that song will know that it is absolutely unique.

Music/RadioRe: Top 10 Greatest Rappers Of All Time by icezik1(m): 2:28pm On Mar 18, 2009
My own list is as follows:

1. Eminem
2. NAS
3. Jay-Z
4. G-Unit(50cent,Lloyd Banks,Tony Yayo,Young Buck(Past Member),The Game(past member) I listen to all 5 esp. 50 and Game
5. T.I
6. Tupac
7. B.I.G
8. M. Shinoda (Of LINKIN PARK) aka Fort Minor
9. Mode9 (Believe it or not!)
10. Kanye West

My list is based on the impact of these rappers on my life and conception of Rap and Hip Hop culture as a whole. Personally, from sheer flow and ability to spit on a phat beat, I rank Jay-Z the greatest rapper of all time, however, I'll put lyrics above beats any day and that is the reason why Eminem and NAS are above Jay-Z and why names like T.I, B.I.G and even Nigeria's Mode9 are on my list. I love the members of G-Unit (Past and Present) for their sheer "SWAGGER" when it comes to rap. The Game and 50 Cent are prime examples. Kayne West is the master of commercial rap bested only by Jay-Z. M. Shinoda is one of those guys that evolved rap into something beautiful. Many people ignore him because of his membership of Linkin Park, but who remembers "In The End" (Both the original and esp. the remix) or "Numb" etc.

Guys like Khanye needs to come to your school of inteligence and learn how to respond to posts in this forum.
If u observed closely in my post, i did say that Mode improved a bit in terms of style and delivery in PS but still needs to do more. I say this because i'm already getting tired of listening to PS after barely two months and that shouldn't be because i know there are albums i've been listening to for years now and i still can't get enough of them. I still listen to PS because of the content of some tracks in the album not because i particularly like the way he raps. My opinion though.
Iagree

Ruggedman should release a diss track against Mode9 before I'll take him seriously. All Mode 9 was doing was attacking RuggedMan because of BAngin. Afterall, Mode9 said he wasn't talking to Ruggedman in the track "Talking To You" but since Ruggedman took it personally, he then decided to attack him for real.

@lalaboi

I agree with you on several points. However, despite Mode9 not having any "danceable" tracks, he is still one of Nigeria's most famous rapper's. Definitely bigger than them NAeto C and Ikechukwu. M.I is tight and he has mad lyrics, his style is unique because of his asthma, so he can't rap fast, but he still raps sweet. I was just dreaming of a Mode9, M.I and 9ice collabo track that could be called "Mode, Am I Nice? (M.I 9ice)" Get it?

@Smurf

You succeeded in grabbing my attention because I just went to your profile. Nice pic. I'm now open to your every whim!  grin  grin  grin
