@Vesc Which reminds me. Do you know some of the movies you find in their Media Store are still being shown in cinemas across the world? And who told you their VCD's are licensed? There is no such thing as a licensed VCD! ALL MOVIES ARE EITHER RELEASED ON VIDEO CASSETE OR DVD OR BOTH (and Bluray is now part of the equation). |
If you're interested, you can hear the song here http://www.esnips.com/doc/49f423fe-306d-4de6-9037-599f0dfa83ff/faze--originality |
And I know this is completely off point but I'm listening to Faze's single "Originality" and it's very good. I've got it on repeat. ![]() |
I know you guys are gonna scream but I don't feel QT that much. Many of his films despite being quite good are just a bit "over" violent. I mean, have you seen Grindhouse? Whatever story the movie had was ruined (for me) by the excessive gore. |
@Gamine That's a bit harsh. I watched The Happening a few days ago and it was quite scary. M. Night Shyalaman makes some good movies. |
@All The track is not new. It's off Dj Jimmy Jatt's album titled The Definition. This is the same album that has Stylee on it. Anyway, Dj Jatt featured up to 50 Emcees and R&B acts on his album. Kel may not have been on that particular track but she is still on the album. The reputable artistes that were on the album include TuFace, Sound Sultan, Mode9, Rugged Man, 2shotz, Gino, Ill Bliss, Eldee, Naeto C, MI, Ikechukwu, OverDose (OD), Terry Tha Rapman, Uchie the African Rockstar etc. There are still several mad tracks on that album and I hope Dj Jatt intends to release them as videos espeacially the one with Gangster, MI and Naeto C. |
@Ex I second your comment on Jason Statham. Perhaps that's why I'm a bit harsh on Death Race. He can't seem to help but act mediocre and annoying movies (The only reasonable exception being "The Transporter" . Y'all might disagree, but let's face it, even if he is in a good movie (sadly, none comes to my mind) he ends up acting as some variation of a British thug. This is a pity for someone with so much potential.@Vesc As far as series go, I guess I'm just gonna have to hang on until Heroes comes out. I've watched Justice and what impressed me was all the fancy camera effects. It's a pretty good Lawyer series and you can't always predict if their clients are guilty or not. That's part of the attraction of the series, the fact that it's only at the very end of the show, you find out what they'd led you to believe was complete bollocks! And they don't always win their cases. It pains me that all the reasonable comedies have gone on break ("How I Met Your Mother" and "The Big Bang Theory" . Hustle sounds promising, and since you and Spikyn have recommended it, I hope it lives up to expectations.@Everyone I have a strong suspicion that Nu Metro cinema in Abuja shows Dvdrips. They only show movies whose Dvdrip has appeared on the net. Very Suspicious! This means that it's highly unlikely we're gonna see The Dark Knight anytime soon. Oh Well. |
@Skingo Dude, seriously, I need what you're smoking! Come on, please. Your stuff must be real quality because you never fail to amaze me with your insightful posts! |
He couldn't quite pull off 9ice's accent but he tried sha. |
@Ex You're getting me all wrong. I'm not saying the movie was great, rather I'm saying, for something THAT should have been absolutely and TOTALLY STUPID, it managed to not be a complete waste of time. The reason is because what they did was take a cartoon and add live actors. That was the whole idea. The color and CGI was part of the whole cartoonerization (Another invented word, but I hope you get my point). IT WAS NOT A MOVIE BUT A CARTOON! If in doubt, go watch it again, and this time around stop trying to see it as being a film and as a cartoon (or anime). ANyway, you still didn't suggest any series! Guy, you wan make I go watch Home Video? You harsh Ooo! |
@DClique True |
@Ex and Gamine As a Rider, I roam across my Nairaland, Slaying Elves and Orcs with my right hand. An Elven-maid there was of old, A shining star by day: Her mantle white was hemmed with gold, "Gamine" was not her name, I say. A star was bound upon her brows, A light was on her hair As sun upon the golden boughs In Lorien the fair. A Demon rode to take her hand, A creature of "Inferis" it was, I sent him back with a neat backhand, And to this day, he knows not what was! ![]() |
Can someone recommend a series for me to watch? It's beginning to get boring waiting for reasonable movies to come out. There's too much nonsensical movies these days with only a few good ones in between. And, for some reason, I can't bring myself to watch a movie older than six months (I think there's a medical term for this disease!) Sha, I'm looking forward to Star Wars: Clone Wars. Sounds like its gonna shock people in the box office. If no one recommends a good series soon I might have to do the unthinkable and resort to watching Nigerian Home Videos. On a side note, I watched Speed Racer yesterday, and I liked the concept the Wachowski brothers used in making the film cartoonish (Can't think of a better word, I tend to invent words a lot ). By making the special and visual effects cartoonish, they managed to pull off a reasonably good movie. If they had gone for realism, it wouldn't have worked at all. The only issue I had with the movie was that it was a bit confused! I mean, in the beginning, you get the impression you're watching comedy, then suddenly you're watching action, and then the movie does a spectacular U-turn and becomes a dark, somber, drama! This continuous change in apparent genre seemed to take a lot out of it's credibility. That probably explains why it didn't make that much money. I still enjoyed it, nonetheless.Ok, where was I? Ah, right. Star Wars! Oh, sorry, I have already discussed that. Oh right, Brad Pitt's new movie. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is about Pitt living his life backwards and is adapted from the classic 1920s story by F. Scott Fitzgerald about a man who is born in his eighties and ages backwards. Time flows for him just like everyone else. It looks like a deliciously twisted film. Been a while since I saw a Brad Pitt movie. So what else is new? Oh yeah, just saw a trailer for what in my opinion, is ironically, a copy of Speed Racer. Its called Death Race and stars Jason Statham. The trailer was, well, boring. I mean, it's SO OBVIOUS, that they just wanted to rip off Speed Racer. What really annoys me is that, even though Speed Racer wasn't such a success, at least, it had a background. Oh well. |
@Skingo I didn't say you were not making any sense, all I'm saying is that I just want to smoke what you're smoking. I think it will give me a better understanding of your psyche. @topic In fact, yesterday, I had a sudden revelation! D'banj is the one in Storm and Ikechukwu is on Mo' Hits. Looks like they fooled all y'all. ![]() But seriously, if you watched Ikechukwu's first music video "My name is Ikechukwu" you would have seen D'banj and Don Jazzy in it. This is just solidarity between them as they've known each other from the beginning. |
The video is tight! Nice! Kemistry and Blaise murdered the track. Nice lyrics! |
@Ex Okay, fine. My bad! In that case, the Dark Knight had mad visual effects. @Gamine Wetin be your own sef? |
The beauty of The Dark Knight is that there is no fancy visual effects whatsoever. This made the movie very credible. They ain't showing Dark Knight in SilverBird yet? |
@Ex lol at Paycheck and I, Robot comment. |
@all This is getting boring. I've been following this thread from the beginning. Where is everyone? People battle. Sha, Makavele, word up Dawg. Been away from this place for awhile. I'm glad, peeps are still representing. |
@Skingo It's obvious from your posts around Nairaland that you smoke something nasty. Abeg, you fit give me your dealer's phone number? I need some mind-numbing puff-puff. |

I love the concept behind the song. Yeah, this is definitely MI. I like the fact that in all his songs despite his strong American accent and sensibilities, he still tries to rap Nigerian. |
@Grafikdon People really loved your work. Go to the below thread to see them praising you! ![]() https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-159573.0.html |
@topic Grafikdon was the one behind the cartoon. If you want to thank him then go to the thread he started himself. the link is below: https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-159647.0.html |
@javalove I'll be your best man at the wedding. So Edosioo, when is it? |
@Gamine No offense was meant. All I'm saying is, how come it's the statistics relevant specifically to you that you listed? Like the Average Age, the fact that most games are played by Adults etc. I'm just saying it seemed like justification. |
'Nuff Said! |
@Emad I give up. I've lost hope in Nigerians abroad. I feel you're just ashamed he ain't speaking proper English. Pity. I knew you couldn't be leaving in Nigeria because if you were, you wouldn't find anything wrong with his lyrics. Oh well, it's obvious you refuse to be convinced so I'm not gonna bother trying. Sha, at least, don't spoil his name for any foreigners over there. |
