BascoVanVeli: That is not what I said. I wanted the NFF to do the recording and NTA will just have to show it and nothing more.
Supersports left for no reason at all and I don't see startimes carrying our matter on their head. If the NFF shoots the matches then they can easily get the NTA in a given area to broadcast it live. Meaning all the games very well could be live The problem lies more with the audiovisuals quality of the NTA stations and not even the recording. |

BascoVanVeli: I don't think we have to move it from NTA. The NFF should take care of the filming and editing while NTA only have to broadcast. The La Liga partnership could come in handy now because they could send some guys to help us in this regards while also teaching some guys of our own.
Another Idea would be to hire Clearance Peters or any other naija music video directors funny but I have been saying this for years. Naija videos are next level these days and why not bring those guys into our football to try to perform the same magic... Do you really enjoy watching those analogue NTA Pictures? It is bad enough that the league is of low standards and then you want to degrade it further with those dirty, cloudy, analogue NTA pictures. Sincerely I find those NTA pictures offensive. Plus NTA will only give you one game. And that is not even guaranteed as they may want to broadcast live a programe organized by the owners of the NTA (Federal government) and they will only appologise to viewers and promise a repeat broadcast of the match after the NTA Network News @ 9. I prefer they strike a deal with Star Times as they have better picture quality and then secure at least 3 channels so you can have options of which game to watch. |

EmmGee: I know the trains don't go everywhere. what I meant is if there is a train route through the cities that are to play, wont it be better for the players to use the trains rather than road/air Then you need to find out how many Nigerian cities are connected by Functional Rail-lines. No be UK be this o. Our Rail system is still shambolic to say the least. |

Odunayaw: Good talk, if the match time table can be arranged in such a way that long distance travelling for matches can be back to back, teams can plan around it.
E.g play in kano midweek, set camp in kano till weekend, fly for next match in Maiduguri weekend.
I desperately wish for broadcasting, NTA's broadcast is a sight for sore eyes (they just plan to be useless all around). LMC can work credible indigenous media firms, then sell the rights to airing the match live/delayed to stations. Star times would be most preferred Most of this clubs do not have the finances to keep players and officials in Hotels for a period of 3-4 days. Or which camp are you referring to here? |

BascoVanVeli: I think it is more better scheduling for number one. Teams should go on road trips sometimes. There is no reason for a club like Akwa to play in Kano come back to Uyo for an home match and then go back to Katsina when they could have been played back to back. One of the major issues is that the NPFL will not always start their league early enough only to be fixing matches weekend and mid-week just to catch up. Imagine also MFM travelling to Maiduguri to play on Wednesday and back to play in Lagos on Saturday then go back up North to play in Katsina on Wednesday. Each of those trips can take up to 2 days. That is Killing! Many at times the players just arrive the Stadium from their bus and straight to the pitch and as soon as the final whistle is blown they are back in their bus again and start embarking on their return trip. You see them running into armed bandits on several occasions. Alternatively also if the teams in the league can be zoned into conferences, like what we have in the USA (East and West). We can have the Northern and Southern Conferences constituting teams in each of the two Regions. The Top 2 from each zone will now play in a Super 4 mini League in one neutral venue say Abuja, Lagos or Uyo to determine who finishes 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th. By this the long Road trips would have been greatly reduced. |

Joebie: How good is the NTA broadcast to start with? I did not even propose the NTA. I said I would prefer they strike a deal with Star times or TSTV for like 3-4 channels that will air live matches. DSTV is already loaded with different leagues and so the NPFL may not get more than one live game per week like the previous years with them. |

Joebie: On your 4th point, is there a national TV station that can deliver on this? Just a sinle national station means one match per day. And two per weekend which is not enough. The NPFL should be able to strike a deal with either StarTimes or TST to have at least 3-4 dedicated channels for the NPFL so we can have more options of viewing different games from different venues. |

Danielnino00: The aiteo cup is being played on a neutral venue that's why... However, away win is possible in the league if the clubs and lmc can fix four problems
1) Provide air transport for their team.. Road transport is risky and exhausting 2) Provide adequate security at match venue...even better to install fences between d stands and the pitch to stop fans violence against away teams 3) Install better pitches 4) LMC should secure a better broadcasting right than the one they have with nta so we can be sure when dubious calls are being made during away games by the referees... This 4th one got me laughing. Is it that NTA connives with the dubious officials and home club not to broadcast dubious calls or what. Please expantiate. |

ajl: Not sure I agree with your point on water from other part of aquifer migrating to an aquifer zone that water is being drawn from. Yes, we know that aquifer water also move by convection or other forms of transport from one point to another but when rate of water extraction exceed the rate of replenishment then the level of water table drops below original level leaving interstitial air-filled pore spaces that are devoid of water. That's the kind of situation the agency is referring to. It's not new. Sane way excessive oil extraction is linked to earthquakes in certain parts of the world.
Let's use this analogy. Which is going to be easier to press down from top by compaction? A square shape sponge that is water soaked or same type of sponge with lot more air spaces?
In a earthquake situation, I am assuming that seismic wave velocity will be faster in rocks with lot of air-spaces than in rocks that is fully saturated with water. Hope that make sense when you think of seismic waves from earthquake or earth tremors epicentre and how it affects areas that are far from the epicenter. . Firstly, if you go through my statement again you will see where I said it is possible but not likely. The report hinged more on Bore Hole Drilling as being the cause of the Tremors. Which I am not buying into. My opinion is it could be but chances are slim. Then, I see your analogy and so let us pick them one after the other. -How does the interstitial spaces in the rocks become air filled and devoid of water. Where is the air from? -And yes rate of water extraction can exceed rate of replenishment within the immediate locality and this is typical of the Dry season. But the Mpape incident took place at the peak of rainy season when water levels are highest. Remember also that water travels fast so the water level that was depleted in the last dry season has long been replenished. -And the second bolded which is a case of Earth quake due to Oil extraction. This is a very rare phenomenon even though it has happened in the past. What happens during Oil production? As the Oil leaves the reservoir the drive mechanism takes over and fill up the spaces left by the migrating Oil. This mechanism can be Water or the Gas Cap. This is a process called water coning and or Gas Cap expansion. No void or vacuum is left. So that analogy of empty Air space does not work here. -Then finally on your last bolded, let me assume the presence of air space in Rock layers as deep as 100-200ft which you have opined. One of the factors that affect the velocity of travel of waves in a medium is what? Bulk Density of the medium. What is Bulk density? Density of the rock matrix and the fluid content. So between a water baring rock and Air bearing rock which should have a higher Bulk Density? Water bearing Rock because water is more dense than Air. As Velocity is directly proportional to bulk density it simply implies that seismic waves have higher velocities in water bearing rocks than in Air bearing rocks. (hint; Speed of sound in Air=340m/s, speed of sound in water=1481m/s). Now over all get my point once again. Though it is possible for Bore Hole sinking to be responsible for the Tremors, it may not be the more likely reason. The natural tectonic setting IMHO may have more role to play than Bore Hole drilling. The Mpape incident could have been caused by disequilibrium created due to mining in the area and assisted by the strike-slip faults that run through the area. And not bore Holes. I would recommend an intensive, Geological investigation using the latest technology for much of our Basement Complex areas, expecially areas that have received these Tremors in the recent past (ie last 100 years). I will like to see your response. |
