BascoVanVeli: Or maybe the only professional club in Nigeria have not yet fixed their flood lights? Even when our stadium had no flood lights the team played at 4pm. So they were clearly trying to take advantage of the weather. |

ChrisKels: Why is Enyimba playing in this hot sun? Whose idea was this nah? We want to use the weather to our advantage. High temperatures, high humidity: Recipe for easy drenching of Energy and dehydration. The North Africans will likely struggle. We expect the return leg to be played at Night under flood lights. So we need to maximize our chances here in Aba. Every factor counts. |

daveP: You want draw a circle, but Ill stop you just right there at the semicircle. I'm not gonna go in circles with you.
No one here is saying Iheanacho performed great. But the fact and seeming comfort of you making this larger than it is, to prove he is no good is what I can't agree with.
Pls Ozil is there too. Pick on Ozil.
He's so poor that Loew had to come to the Arsenal Training Ground to want to try lure him back to national team football?!!
Nacho has left that last season form way behind him and you are here ensuring that all our ears twitch at your constant mentions of poor poor poor. You're one of those that feed on the fact that form is a constant thing in the career of any pro.
I'm glad you fulfill the other side of the table of making him the most discussed player on here.
It's Marca you're drawing this big relevance from. Past!!
Pls can you talk just once about his current form. Iheanacho being on that list was because of the high expectations placed on him after the Leicester move. It simply means he was highly rated in the first place although I personally didn't expect much from him last season at Leicester. He however seems to have begun to find his footing at Leicester lately. And we expect him to transfer that to the Super Eagles. Career-wise Iwobi is doing better him presently. |

TheSuperNerd: Let the K.Nwakali baking in the Oven continue. I wholeheartedly agree.
But with no natural AM on that list of midfielders in Mikel's absence, I hope Rohr can look the way of Ebere Eze in the nearest future. The kid is another real deal talent in the CAM role.
And yes, Iwobi is wayyy above any of the CAM prospects we are even looking at be it K.Nwakali, Ebere Eze or even Ejaria. But I hope Rohr deploys him there oooo coz Rohr sees Iwobi as an LM and LW first and I hope that changes soonest. I really hope to see Rohr deploy Iwobi in the AM role since we have the likes of Simon Moses and Onyekuru on the left in this list. Even Ahmed Musa is present (even though he can also be deployed as a CF- best in a two man attack).
We go see shaa. Alexander Iwobi is a Natural AM. He is naturally not a Winger. K. Nwakali is talented no doubt. But at this stage of the game you require more than talent. |

TheSuperNerd: Sadly that younger player is not on the list. There is no naturally gifted AM on the list. The closest we have there is an Iwobi who can step in and then a Nacho who executes the role more as an SS-CF hybrid.
If Rohr had to take out K.Nwakali then he should have included a natural AM; possibly an Ebere Eze. Making the list 25 by handing Eze a first time call up will not be bad at all. Well, it appears Kelechi Nwakali is not ready and so needs to go back to the oven to continue the baking. Iwobi is a naturally gifted AM rated higher than K.Nwakali. Even if Nwakali was in this team Iwobi will still start ahead of him. I also agree Ebere Eze deserved this opportunity with the absence of Mikel and Joel. |

Aina, Iwobi, Ekong and Shehu, are back from injury and they are back straight into the team.
That was the point I was making and someone was saying Noah Bazee will play 3-4 games before the Libya game and so must be invited.
We should learn to make more feasible predictions please. |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Icon4s(m): 3:31pm On Oct 01, 2018 |
TheSuperNerd: No Mikel again is a surprise. He's been playing some games at least since the last international break. Probably told Rohr to still leave him out for now. Kelechi Nwakali has to make way. Many regulars were returning but again I believe the last list was Rohr looking to satisfy Nigerians' push for K.Nwakali. I hope Rohr can look the way of Ebere Eze in future lists.
Joel Obi is missing due to injury and no one takes his squad place in Midfield as Rohr was bent on recalling the likes of Aina, Success, Ekong, Iwobi and Simon Moses while maintaining the likes of Onyekuru, Kalu, Semi Ajayi and Jamilu Collins on the list when some here thought a few of the new guys may make way for the regular stars.
In all, a good list. Just that Mikel's absense is still not officially explained. Time we started building this team around a younger player. Mikel will not likely be in Qatar. Time for Iwobi to step up and take over the AM role. And of course Ebere Eze will provide us more options in the midfield. |

tbaba1234: I really hope Rohr has the courage to start Success ahead of Ighalo. Success not likely to start the first game. He may come in as a sub. But he may start the return leg if Ighalo continues in his poor run of form. |

Goalkeepers: Francis Uzoho (Elche FC, Spain); Ikechukwu Ezenwa (Enyimba FC); Daniel Akpeyi (Chippa United, South Africa)
Defenders: Olaoluwa Aina (Torino FC, Italy); Abdullahi Shehu (Bursaspor FC, Turkey); Semi Ajayi (Rotherham United, England); Bryan Idowu (Lokomotiv Moscow, Russia); Chidozie Awaziem (FC Porto, Portugal); William Ekong (Udinese FC, Italy); Leon Balogun (Brighton & Hove Albion, England); Kenneth Omeruo (CD Leganes, Spain); Jamilu Collins (SC Padeborn 07, Germany)
Midfielders: Ogenyi Onazi (Trabzonspor FC, Turkey); Wilfred Ndidi (Leicester City, England); Oghenekaro Etebo (Stoke City FC, England); John Ogu (Hapoel Be’er Sheva, Israel)
Forwards: Ahmed Musa (Al Nasr FC, Saudi Arabia); Kelechi Iheanacho (Leicester City, England); Moses Simon (Levante FC, Italy); Henry Onyekuru (Galatasaray SK, Turkey); Odion Ighalo (Changchun Yatai, China); Alex Iwobi (Arsenal FC, England); Samuel Kalu (Bordeaux FC, France); Isaac Success (Watford FC, England) A good list . Thanks for the update. I hope Rohr has learnt from Emery on how to use Iwobi. A player that was once taunted to be useless from the wings has suddenly become defenders nightmare from the wings. |

TheSuperNerd: Honestly Dad, what I see for the Eagles attack going forward are quite multiple.
Isaac Success is looking really good and back to reckoning. I foresee a partnership reborn as back in the days of the U-17s between Success and Iheanacho... CF and SS perfect Combo. Success' beastly physical qualities, drive, speed, finishing, technical touch + Iheanacho's Vision, Technical nous, intelligence and spatial awareness.
The Success-Iheanacho(CF/SS) combo could be another great option down the months and years for us. Even in a 4-3-3, both could still feature as CF, and RWF respectively but guys like Chukwueze and Kalu can make the RWF theirs too.
We indeed more tactical options when Success is brought into the equation.
I pray Success keeps this up. The Beast is back. Plus Rohr should also be playing Onyekuru as a CF forward. With this, our attacking options will be deep. We need not wait till 2021 to start preparing for the 2022 WC. We need to get these young strikers to start building the Chemistry now. |

terzurum5: Rohr Recalls Success For Libya’s Double-head Clash By Abubakar Yunusa , Abuja
Coach Gernot Rohr has handed Isaac Success a recall to the Super Eagles squad for the forthcoming back to back AFCON 2019 Qualifying matches against Libya, according to report.
Success last played for Nigeria in 2017 in a friendly game against Senegal and despite an impressive outing after coming on as a second half substitute, injuries, fitness and poor form has kept him out of the Nigerian team.
Since the start of the season, the 21 year old has turned a corner in terms of his fitness and performance as he has been involved with Watford, although mostly as a substitute in the league but in the Carabao Cup he scored twice for them before their exit in the hands of Tottenham Hotspurs on Wednesday.
Rohr is a big fan of the forward due to his physical attributes and ability to play on the flanks and as a top striker, a chance to stake a claim for a spot in the senior national team of Nigeria has now been handed to the forward.
He will be in the list of players which will be released on Tuesday against group leaders Libya in Uyo and later in Tunisia.
Meanwhile, Confederation of African Football (CAF) have finally approved NFF to have the Africa Cup of Nations’ first leg qualifier against Libya shifted to a new date and venue.
The confirmation from CAF came in a formal notification to Libyan Football Federation (LFF) that the first leg of their double-qualifier against Nigeria will now hold at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on Saturday, October 13.
The formal notification from CAF to LFF in effect confirms that it will no longer hold at Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna on October 12, while the reverse fixture in the Group E tussle between both countries for 2019 AFCON tickets will now be on October 16 in Tunisia.
This is a major victory for Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, who repeatedly expressed concerns about the small size of Ahmadu Bello Stadium pitch.
Rohr buttressed his worries when he met top shots of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) during The Best FIFA Football Awards 2018 in London on September 24.
Incidentally, while the Franco-German feared that the ABS pitch is not up to standard and his players would not be comfortable playing on the turf, NFF top shots had already expressed worries about possible overcrowding by fans at the stadium in Kaduna.
It would be recalled that CAF slammed Nigeria with a $5,000 fine for allowing excess spectators at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium for an AFCON qualifier against Egypt in March 2016.
https://leadership.ng/2018/10/01/rohr-recalls-success-for-libyas-double-head-clash/amp/ It is only an enemy of Nigerian football that will want Success to be kept away from this current SE team that plays without a striker. |
