Mujtahida: so at the WC na so we go sit down dey watch SE soak up pressure and then hit on the counter? wont that be too predictable? The truth is we are underdogs in our group. The only team I feel we may just be at par with or dominate is Iceland. Expect us to soak up so much pressure against Croatia and Argentina. |

komekn: Systems are great but it's the players that win the games for you.
KC without support can become anonymous in addition he doesn't present a threat to unsettle defenders. I said Iheanacho would be a supporting striker to any of Ighalo or Simy and not a lone striker. And if Iheanacho doesn't present a threat to unsettle defenders which of the SS options does? |

Mujtahida: but if you recollect in the friendly against argentina even with mikel we were on the backfoot in the first half. only that our counter attacking forays that day were highly effective. Were you expecting we will dominate Argentina? In fact it was normal that we were dominated by Poland. One because they are ranked far ahead of us and two they were playing at home. These are no absolute factors but they also play their roles. As for Serbia, they had more quality packed in their team so what do you expect? |

Icon79: On the bench
But this one Simeon Moses isn't gonna be available, we might not have too many options; hence, I can see him playing that wing role in Russia.
O pari So you see? After you described him as having so much AM abilities you prefer him on the bench when Mikel is on the pitch. But now you have said it yourself that due to lack of quality wings options he will play the wings role. And that is just the reality on ground. But also note that even with Simon is in the squad Iwobi is still favorite to start ahead of him on the wings. |

i am currently watching nigeria v poland friendly. defense seem to be the thing that characterizes our game now. we are described as the counter attacking team. the ball is played in our pitch. we dont control the game. when did we start playing this kind of football? Well, I will say it plays that way mostly when Mikel is not on the pitch. |

All those Nwakali, Kayode, Nepotism and corruption talks are just mare distractions. |

I am not concerned about your views about Kayode and Nwakali because I can't recall any. Several people have shared their views on it here. AIG07: Sir, I understand that Onazi is a core member of this team. But he is loosing his touch and fast becoming the shadow of his old self.
Dude looks overweight and does not look like someone ready to lay claim to his starting shirt anytime soon.
So for now. I'll rather/prefer to pair Ogu and Ndidi as our double pivot In a 4-2-3-1 formation than having Onazi and Ndidi's partnership. That is you and not Rohr. Onazi is a starter in Rohr's team. So how can it be a surprise if Onazi starts ahead of Ogu. |

Icon79: Nah, putting him on the wings is a waste of talent and creativity. Iwobi excels in playing within tight spaces, giving short & long range passes, and releasing the strikers to finish play - that is, providing the final pass. That's his best role in the game. He doesn't have the speed to excel as a wing forward.
O pari So where do you put him when Mikel is in the team and playing the AM role? |

Mujtahida: hahahaha sir icon4s why do we read so superficially. i am not his attorney. supernerd has done what i have said should be done. if you cannot answer the young man shun his post but if you want to answer him then do with facts. i consider it low of you to join the bandwagon of those who see the position i have taken as a support of forgiveness. soon una go say forgiveness, me and komekn na same person.
i am not surprised though. there was a time somebody said he doesnt want obafemi martins because he plays in china. i said but ighalo and martins play in china naw(meaning to show the person thst the basis for his assertion is faulty). next thing i was called a martins supporter. you should go deeper than the superficialities that prevails here.
one person says that 35 man list containing nwakali's name is sign of corruption. another person says you are neoptistic thats why yousee nepotism everywhere. i say bro, counter his charge of nepotism not just accuse him of nepotism. counter his interpretation of the facts with your own facts. realpoacher did it,supernerd did it. but its now easy to say i am forgiveness' attorney because he is the designated black sheep bof the thread. you know what? if you say so i agree i am his attorney.na my work (in real life we even defend as a matter of obligation thieves and scoundrels and knaves abi you no dey see criminals with lawyers for court?)
as a measure of my support for forgiveness please tell me what i think about the nwakali being in the 35 man list and about the exclusipn of kayode. shebi those are the things you guys berate forgiveness for. tell me what are my views on this two players You are the one reading superficial meanings. Believe what you believe. Leave me to my believes. We know ourselves here and what each person is capable of. I am done on this issue please. |

komekn: We have a very crucial game on Saturday and for me it will be true test of how far we have come and how prepared we are.
The English players are going to be very competitive and will play the game at a considerably fast pace.
This is where Ighalo and more relevantly Simi will be tested. Can Simi replicate his physicality to such great effect in the Seria A against EPL players from England. I have speculated a 4-4-2 formation if things get tough with Ighalo and Simi essentially bullying thier way to goals.
I can see the teenage Alexander playing to nullify the speed of Musa. Musa will need to play intelligent football and not just rely on sheer pace. And if Alex doesn't play we still have Rose and Walker to deal with. Sadly Moses Simon, so Etebo must bring some real gra gra power football.
Like to see a mobile midfield with Mikel pulling all the strings, his input will determine to a large extent who will win this match.
Winning is important but not essential, putting in a composed disciplined and inventive performance much more vital.
Concerns Echiejile slow and could be easily over run I prefer a midfield of Ndidi and Onazi not Ogu. I see this as a game Ogu can be left behind because he is simply too slow and lacks good recovery.
I use to feel that England lacked flair and inventive unpredictable guile in midfield. That's not the case anymore Rueben Loftus is a beast in midfield and our prodigal son Dele has a lot to offer skill wise.
Onazi and Ndidi will have to be on top if thier games.
Vic Moses is for me our Ace he brings it all to the game, pace, power, skill, speed and unpredictability. I expect him to score.
Iwobi will have to work hard and I don't expect him to start. He will have to be at his best to influence the game.
Our defenders will be dealing with an on fire Harry Kane. Our midfield has to stop any supply to him. So closing down and pressing as a unit from the front Liverpool style against Real, KEY to success. It's going to be hard fitness is a major issue.
My heart wants Nigeria to win but my objectivity says unlikely. Been waiting for decades for this game. So I am extremely excited.
On the selfish side some of our players if they put in a good outstanding display. Will have played themselves into a lucrative EPL contract. I love your analysis. But when you play a 4-4-2 it is typical to play a natural CF and an SS. Except if one of the CFs plays the SS role very well. But looking at Ighalo and Nwankwo they are both natural CFs. If we must play 4-4-2, I would suggest we play each of them in each half and Ihenacho be the SS. |

realpoacher: Let's say Kayode and Ajagun were also part of the 35 man list which included kelechi Nwakali, would you know?
If Rohr didn't give us this info today about Nwakali, would you know?
The 4 other players that made the number up to 35 have not been revealed and we won't know until it is revealed. But the point is that, those 5 names were removed and the list pruned down to 30 by Rohr. If it was a 35 man list that was released, then i am certain that Kayodo's name will be on it.
I will bet that apart from kayode, Ajagun, Henry Onyeakuru, and either Peter Olayinka or Kalu will be in that 35 man list.
Why the hue and cry?... Why the fuss?....
Isn't it obvious that Rohr found all the extra 5 names surplus to the teams requirements? which is simply an indication that this 5 extra players didn't measure up to the names in the first 30?
What is your problem?
Kayode is a Top 9.. Compare him to the top 9 will have in the team... Ighalo, Iheanacho, Simy and see that he doesn't come anywhere close to any of these 3.
Ighalo club career goals = 100 National team career goals = 4
Iheanacho club career goals = 15 National team career goals including youth teams = 16
Simy club career goals = 56 No national team experience yet
Kayode club career goals = 45 National team career goals including youth teams = 4
Let it be known to you that Kayode played U17 in 2009 = 0 goals He played U20 teams in 2011 & 2013 = 4 goals He played u23 = 0 goals Super Eagles 4 caps = 0 goals
Is this the kind of blunt striker that you are selling to us?... Is this the kind of wasteful striker that you are trying to force down our throats?...
The only person in direct competition to him is Iheanacho but let it be known to you that Iheanacho a younger teen to kayode is far more clinical than kayode. Iheanacho excelled in the same youth team where kayode failed during his time. Iheanacho took his opportunity with both hands when club and country came calling, so there is actually no basis here for comparison.
Give it a rest already as kayode is the same league of Ideye(another very blunt striker) and Nwankweam
Kayode is a FLOP!.. Kayode is a BIG FLOP!!... I repeat.. KAYODE IS A BIG FLOP,!,!! In as much as I see Kayode as a surplus requirement to this team, I don't see him as a flop. He just has better talented players to contend with. If it were 4years ago he would have made Keshi's 30man list at least. |

Joebie: Rohr had said it since March that he would be releasing a 30 man list in May.. meaning he had a 35 man list prior to the Poland-Serbia friendlies. Possibly that list was pruned down even before he released the 28 man list. Even in the selection of the 30 he said they took the decision collectively. So really there is nothing more I can say than he has sentimental people around him. And who knows, there could be more things I don't know. And for those people clamouring for Nwakali why didnt they do so immediately the list was released? We all (including Rohr) had to see what he could really offer after the Athletico game. This is why we need more of such games. Nobody should blame Rohr abeg |

If Ajiboye doesn’t feature at all, then it’s safe to say the goalkeeping trio for the WC will be Uzoho, Ezenwa, and Akpeyi. The starting lineup against England is not a strong headache. |
